Yeah, the just leave stuff at the gates is a pain, and most survivors are deliberately trying to annoy you at that point, so it's often best to go to the opposite side of the map, or find basement and go AFK. Stand up, stretch, go to the bathroom, get a glass of water, make a coffee or cup of tea, grab a snack, etc.

Just waste their time as much as they're wasting yours. Sometimes, you may come back to find you have an extra kill you don't remember getting because some survivors are that determined to get under the killer's skin, that they will go out of their way to look for you, and will then not have enough time to get back to the exit gate.

    Thanks for your positive comments

toxicity is a circle. Killers are toxic to innocent survivors→ innocent survivors then become toxic from repeated abuse → survivors are toxic to innocent killer → cycle continues.

Point is…. Toxicity breeds toxicity. Enough of it will poison and erode even well intended players (like you) and cause them to develop anger. The way we stop this is by not caving into those negative thoughts and not feeding toxic behavior.

As killer. You get a survivor just trying to get your attention the entire time by tea bagging and flashlight clicking. Ignore them. Even if you lose and they get out. Don’t bother. When you give in and chase them then camp and tunnel. You’re not punishing them, you’re making them laugh and feeding their ego because they say “the killer NEEDED me, I gave him so much trouble they targeted me”. It becomes bragging rights for them. Ignoring them…they get bored. By not humping them or hitting on ur hook..you show apathy and disinterest in them. Survivor bullies feed off attention…don’t give it to them. Just be a good person and have a healthy match with the others.

As survivor. Camping killer? Don’t feed it and focus on gens. Camping works because yall can’t resist altruism. Let em die if that means gens get done. Eventually they’ll realize camping is boring if no one comes to the hook and they’ll lose. Tunneling killer? Leave ur team mate on hook as long as you can to do gens. Gen rush and get out. This will at least keep them in the trial for a little longer. Personally I just stopped playing survivor because the tunneling was eroding me and making me mad and become toxic. The queue times will be their punishment for toxicity.

But in general. Bagging and mocking are insulting…but it doesn’t stop you from playing the game. Toxicity is an infection, don’t let it infect you. The more we as a community stop giving these ppl attention and views…the less we deal with toxicity.

Sore winners, venting frustrations after being faced with nothing but a new and strong killer.

After being inundated by new and strong killers for several matches in a row and dying due to BS often outside of your control, adding that you're also dealing with other survivors who can vary from ultra cracked to braindead useless, can drive you a little insane after a while.

So when that frustration finally boils over from 59 to 60, and you're matched with a killer who is trying to play chill, a meme build or is playing a weaker killer, the survivor finally has a chance to release the pent-up frustration and rage that they've felt and go a little overboard and just unleash their fury onto the lax killer. (Since they've also probably come fully prepared to fight for a win, they're very on edge.)
From my experience, I've had people DM me later after they've had a chance to cool down and apologise for being rude in the Post-Game.
However, not all survivors are like that and will just be contented with being rude to the killer, no matter what you do or who you play.

My only real advice is to try not to take it personally, easier said than done, I know. If it really starts to get to you, it will probably be a good idea to hop off the game for the night, or swap over to Bots, because at least they don't talk back to you for being a "sweaty toxic killer-main playing a B-Tier and below killer."

Yeah, thanks for the encouragement. I try not to let it get to me and play like a dick, and I try to just ignore the attention-grabbers. The only really ######### thing I can't ignore is when people (and it genuinely feels like this happens every match) start wasting time at the gates instead, essentially forcing you to confront them. Would love to have an abandon option, similar to the one survivors have.

  • These nerfs all sound reasonable, the only thing I'd be concerned about is the collision thing. Not necessarily because it'd be a huge nerf, but more to prevent clunky movement. I don't know what it was like on the PTB, though, so I could just be entirely wrong in my assumption.

  • Having only played as her she definitely seems a little overtuned. Maybe give it a few more days for people to figure out counterplay, but from where I stand, seems like there's very little.

this was reported during the PTB. SupaAlf had a clip of it then and it was in the forums but the PTB ones are no longer accessible

Nurse has been having plenty of issues since this year, maybe last year - I don't have a lot of faith anymore!

  • I remember there being a very, very extensive discussion on this before. I whole-heartedly agree, but I don't think it'll happen.

I think the majority of players plays both sides and they will vote for perks that could be fun with a buff or ones that are so bad that no one runs them. Even if players would vote for worse perks it would be a win and maybe behavior turns it into a fan favorite.

I think that stance, while nice, is very naive.

I see it as a fun little community event, that could spark excitement.

About the last part, don’t know what it has to do with this topic.

Bear in mind that, at any point, if the queue times were to be balanced, there'd need to be 4x more survivors than killers.

It'd be conceivable, that, in a game of 1v4, the majority of the players would have to be playing the "4" role the majority of the time. That's why I mentioned it. You could imagine that might swing the vote. Even when the queue isn't balanced (which, it rarely is), survivors still outnumber killers.

  • I love the outcome of this poll as of now. Support BHVR when they deserve to be supported.

America is not even the worst case.

Similar issues are around the Middle East.

Echoing this. Shout-out to my friends in South-Africa, who have to deal with 150ms+ regularly.

  • Not sure if we want to be subjected to the "dictate of the majority" any more than we want to be subjected to BHVR's "dictate of the statistics". Bear in mind that, at any point, if the queue times were to be balanced, there'd need to be 4x more survivors than killers.

  • The cheating problem is completely out of control, but BHVR doesn't really give a #########. As I'm writing this now I'm stuck in a match with a cheater, who locked me in place as soon as I picked up a survivor, and none of them are doing the last gen.

  • @Rick1998 said:

i know they can't share many details regarding this but an update would be nice. Cheaters are out of the woodworks again and very prevalent latelly. I see them very often and see many posts about them too.

I wish they would share details about this. I don't know much about anti-cheat systems, but EAC's reputation isn't exactly glamorous. I know blame is easily shifted onto EAC itself but I just wish BHVR took open accountability for once and tell us what they're planning to do about this glaring issue.

  • Don't hold out hope for map changes. They'll never come.

Yes, I really mean it. And yes, I do need a new headset if you guys can track footsteps accurately.

It'll help you massively, having a good headset will even allow you to hear breathing, walking, grass moving, stuff like that. If you're on a budget, try the Logitech G432? Or the G Pro X, if you're looking for wireless?

IMO a good idea for things like this is to make footsteps quiet while being Undetectable due to the Killer Power. I have been saying this since people complained about Demo that he should just have quiet footsteps when coming out of the portal. (Obviously this should only count for Undetectable due to a Killer power, everytime when those Killers are Undetectable would be too much)

I am not sure how much sense this makes for Springtrap tho, since his Undetectable is a lot more frequent than Demos.

That idea makes sense! I don't really know what else to say, wish they'd add it.

  • BHVR's track record indicates they'll, in all likelihood, probably make it harder to tunnel by offering survivors even more protection like a mini-DS, a paused hook timer, maybe an extra hook state if the killer tunnels really hard. I don't think there'll be any more incentive to spread hooks though, which is already a pretty terrible strategy. Stick > carrot.

  • @Wezqu said:

Its been reported, they know about it and most likely going to be fixed next patch.

    Cheers <3

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Immersion. Springtrap is a big and heavy animatronic, obviously he will not be quiet. And in fact, if you played or looked at some of the FNAF-games, the animatronics are pretty loud.

And given that the creator of FNAF was very involved in the DBD-adaptation, it is not unlikely that this is how Springtrap is supposed to sound.

(And I dont really understand why these discussions comes up so often. We had discussions why Demogorgon or Nemesis are loud as well… I mean, look at them)

I think the loudness becomes an issue when a (substantial) part of the killer's design is stealth. Imagine Ghostface's footsteps leaving tiny craters wherever he goes - Springtrap really is that loud. Maybe it's accurate to the lore (with which I am not familiar), but gameplay-wise, it seems like a pretty big hindrance, both for Demo and Springtrap.

Oh yeah, of course, I should set up a second viewport in game aimed at the door around the corner. "Just look at the tiny panel" so when the door is facing away from the generator, or it's behind a wall/jungle gym corner, I guess that's MY fault for not IP tracing the Killer's packets allowing me to know when that door is going to silently fly open.

Sure, Dredge has silent teleports, but at least they need to spend tokens. Sadako has TVs that shut off when she uses them for a period of time, and there's a mapwide SFX. Demo ALSO has a mapwide SFX, with a silent exit, but there's counterplay. Animatronic is the only teleporting killer with no cooldowns/counterplay.

Oh did your TWENTY seconds of undetectable run out? Just hop back in a door! No need to actually walk through the security office, just walk in and out! Wraith WISHES he had something like this.

Sorry for being an a-hole. Had a horrible day when I wrote that. Though I do still stand by the opinion that, if Springtrap's teleport gets any more telegraphed / hindered by a hooked survivor, his power level diminishes substantially.

Then I need whichever headset you're using because we're not playing the same game.

Whether I'm playing surv/killer, I find it impossible to pinpoint people's locations if there are walls. Primarily because DBD is a spaghetti-coded game.

You're finding movement hard to track based on the sounds of footsteps? Because then I do really think you need a better headset. And I really mean that without trying to snarky.

  • Received no such thing and I bought this game in 2016.

  • @SoGo said:

Currently, when a survivor is hooked next to a door, it can still be used.

This creates impossibly fast saves, but more importantly, it gives Afton an extreme potential to proxy-camp and tunnel, likes of which we have not seen since the Hag.

Even she pales in comparison to him, as you could disable all the traps she sets up, but you can't stop him from using the door right next to the hook.

    My proposed solution:

    • No one can teleport to doors in a 12 meter radius of a hooked survivor.

(This means, that you can teleport away, but can't go back.)

Maybe just keep your eyes on the door then so that he doesn't surprise you, rather than whining for a nerf.

  • Ah, yeah. As someone who plays Killer pretty frequently, I can tell how much Survivors care about my fun and the game's health!

Hey there! When it comes to prioritizing bug fixes, it can often be a delicate balance where tough choices have to be made, balancing how much time it takes to reproduce and fix a given bug against its relative impact to the wider community. While I can't provide a timeline for when certain Artist bugs will be resolved, I can confidently say that the team is aware of and have been looking into a number of Artist bugs.

As for the Shroud of Separation, this is a topic the team's been closely following and will continue to monitor. Sometimes, there are cases where a change looks dominant in theory, but doesn't end up having the same oomph in practice. This is what we saw on the PTB with the Shroud. BUT! That's not to say that's the end of the story. We'll be keeping a close eye on feedback as players dig into these offerings on the Live servers and get a feel for how they're impacting the game at a wider scale.

Like Nurse who has been broken for more than a year? This is nonsense.

  • Nurse bug still not fixed I see…

  • Xenomorph, Chucky, Huntress

Xeno and Chucky just got shat on, and I find that 110 killers are barely worth playing anymore.

  • Devs are still ignoring this issue.

  • I don't think anything like this will ever happen, you may as well just accept the teabags and move on. Your idea does remind me of that video where Freddy gets stunned and he just falls over.

  • Nosebleed just as a match starts.

Getting disconnected from host (twice!) when I'm dominating.

  • I felt skeptical at first but I'm now very interested to play the killer, BHVR did a good job

I agree - especially the in game report system. Needs to be enhanced with better systems, detections and smoother reports for us across all users regardless of platforms as well as on the backend for the Dev's/Customer Support Agents or auditors that go through this.

Thumbs Up Feature needs to do something too! 10% extra BP for the person you thumbs uped. This does not stack with other thumbs ups.

I read other people suggesting a sort of 'playback system' to improve the reporting process at least a little. I just can't imagine the bureaucratic hell of having to go through every single report manually because the anti-cheat system doesn't work!

And yeah, agreed on the props thing. I used to give people props but it feels entirely pointless.

  • @Nicholas said:

Some of the cheaters are concealing their actions by bringing in aura perks, sometimes all four. I've been running Distortion more, and sometimes The Killer will still locate you. I remember a Trial versus The Houndmaster in Haddonfield, and she was cheating, always finding everyone but being smart about it. Kicking gens or opening lockers first to create the illusion of using Nowhere to Hide or Darkness Revealed, and the deception works unless you're running Distortion with tokens. The token gets consumed, but she still knows exactly where to find you.

Always funny to see people try so hard to hide it, but horribly frustrating for the rest of the match

  • @MaTtRoSiTy said:

One thing that blows my mind, is how I have had cheaters flying under, around and outside the map and EAC doesn't see any issue with this. I think most of us have experienced the Nurse cheat where they hook you before you can even move… but the anti cheat doesn't see a problem with a match that ends in under 10 seconds lol.

As far as reporting, well they do ask a lot as far as wanting you to upload videos then provide links etc. I have never done this but I have reported cheaters in game and they have been banned. At least I assume so from the notifications I have got but they are of course very vague.

Just today I had a Sable running around - and it's usually quite easy to tell - attempting to be 'subtle' by only using her speedhacks when she thought I was out of LoS. Even more frustrating when someone with more braincells actually succeeds in hiding it from you.

Of course. I imagine if it were easy to change, they would do it though. Would be nice of them to at least add a link so I don't have to search "player report dbd" everytime.

Then again, it's not like most players are seeing a cheater very often.

I certainly understand it's no easy task to do, but surely one worth doing at least a few years ago now. People have been complaining about this stuff for ages, and still nothing has changed.

  • Had another three cheaters yesterday, then one today, already, and I've only been playing for an hour! BHVR, change your ######### system!

  • @MrT1412 said:

Can't really complain about people not getting banned if you're not reporting them though. If you don't fill out the ticket, your ingame report doesn't do anything.

It's a little ridiculous that the victim of the cheating has to go out of their way to then also fill in a long form, upload a video (which doesn't work so → YouTube), wait for a response… At best this system is antiquated, at worst, negligent.

The game counted it as a grab and then refunded it into a missed m1. At worst it should cancel the grab, not force your character to m1. Definitely a bug.

  • @Saitamaspower said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3940144#Comment_3940144

You’re not arguing against the system. You’re arguing against players having a choice.
And that tells me everything I need to know.

    Let’s break it down.

“People will just block the strongest killer. Then the next. Then the next...”

    Exactly.
    That’s not a flaw — that’s the entire point.

If players consistently block Aura-Reading One-Shot Nurse or 3 gen Slugmerchant, then that’s not abuse.
That’s measurable, behavioral data — not complaints, not forum whining — but players taking direct action against mechanics they’re done with.

And no, it doesn’t instantly fix anything.
    But here’s what you’re ignoring:

The devs take forever to nerf or rework anything.
Spirit was pure mind gaming for years.
Nurse only stopped being an Exposed combo machine because they reclassified Blink hits as Special Attacks.

Meanwhile, more killers drop every few months — some fun, some overtuned, some just exhausting — and survivors are forced to deal with all of them.

    A blocklist doesn’t delete killers.
It just gives players a filter — while waiting for BHVR’s usual 9–12 month balancing delay.

    “Players will abuse the system.”

    You mean like:

    • SWFs running full-gen-rush meta with voice comms
    • Players closing game in Task manager because they see Spirit or Nurse in loading screen
    • DC chains that ruin entire lobbies — wasting everyone’s time

    This already happens.
And it’s not caused by too much player freedom. It’s caused by not giving players any tools to avoid miserable experiences.

A blocklist would actually reduce this behavior.

It lets people say “no thanks” at the matchmaking level, instead of forcing them to ragequit mid-match — taking 3 other people down with them.

“Let killers block survivor perks too!”

Sure. Let them block Dead Hard, Made for This, Off the Record.

But perks don’t define the match.
    Killers do.

You don’t queue into “Off the Record.”
You queue into Nurse with Lethal Pursuer and Starstruck on RPD.

    The killer is the match.
    The perks are side dishes.
    Stop pretending they’re equivalent.

    “All killers have counterplay.”

Nurse doesn’t challenge your mechanical skill.
She bypasses it — blinks through walls, sees your aura, deletes chase before it starts.

You don’t “learn” to counter that.
You just get used to hoping she screws up.

    That’s not interaction. That’s acceptance.

“Other games don’t let you ban content either.”

    Really?

    Let’s talk about that.

    • League of Legends lets you ban champions before the match even starts — because certain picks are unfun to play against, even if they’re not broken.
    • Overwatch introduced role queue and hero bans in competitive because too many people ragequit when stuck in unbalanced matchups.
    • Rainbow Six Siege has operator bans because some defenders/attackers are simply too oppressive in certain maps — and players need the ability to shape the tactical experience.
    • Dota 2 has bans in every draft mode — because even in perfect balance, players deserve agency.

Dead by Daylight is the outlier here — a game that:

    • Locks you into 10–15 minutes against a single killer
    • Doesn’t let you counterpick
    • Doesn’t let you adapt mid-match
    • Doesn’t offer rematch, reroll, or swap
    • And punishes you for leaving a matchup you hate

So no — DBD isn’t like other games.
And that’s exactly why a blocklist isn’t just reasonable.

    It’s necessary.

With posts like these I think they might have to ban ChatGPT, instead.

  • @Saitamaspower said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3940112#Comment_3940112

Let me break it down again — slowly.

“If each of you blocks 2 killers, that’s up to 8 killers effectively excluded from the pool, isn’t it?”

    No. It isn’t.

    This isn’t match-based banning.
    This is account-level preference filtering.
My blocklist doesn’t affect the current match. It affects who I can be matched with at all.

There’s no moment where 4 survivors each ban two killers and 8 are excluded from the match. That’s a fantasy model you made up to sound dramatic.

    What really happens:

    • A killer queues.
    • The system looks for 4 survivors who haven’t blocked them.
    • If it finds them, match proceeds. If not, the killer queues longer — same way high-MMR killers do already.

“These individual choices combine to shape a shared outcome.”

Yes — just like every player choice does.
Map offerings shape outcomes. Perks shape outcomes. Killers shape outcomes.
So does opting out of bad matchups.

This isn’t unique. This is how every matchmaking system adapts to player behavior.

If certain killers get filtered more often? That’s not oppression.
That’s a trend. A signal that players are mentally done with them

I hate to jump in here with an unrelated comment, but was your response generated by ChatGPT? Everything from your syntax to your liberal use of bold screams ChatGPT to me.

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

There’s a very simple explanation for why BHVR isn't prioritizing these things - they don’t have to. People are not leaving the game because of the cheating issues; in fact, the player count has been increasing recently. Why would they spend resources on something that isn’t affecting player count and thus bottom line?

Three times I had to deal with cheater types yesterday, which is by all means an outlier, but just evidence that these things need to change… these cheats are as old as the game itself. I think even more worrisome is the now multi-platform nature of the game, seeing as people are seemingly buying up cheap Epic Games accounts to just go on cheating rampages for a while, until they're caught, and the process repeats.

Just yesterday I faced someone with a fully decked out Steam account, very clearly resetting their exhaustion to Head On troll. I'm guessing the nature of their account must mean they've been doing this for a long time.

  • This is just rollback I'm afraid, not necessarily a bug.
