  • It's hilarious how this community views healthy interaction as some rare occurrence. I respect your attempt, but toxic people are gonna be toxic and nice people are gonna be nice. The best we can do is not give the toxicity what it wants by making a big deal out of it or being toxic in response. Admittedly it's refreshing to see healthy player interaction on these forums, despite the fact I have usually 5 or more of these interactions a day on dbd(xbox).

    It already has multiple weaknesses.

    1) Only active for 60s

    2) Slugging

Killers don't like completely changing their playstyle to avoid getting hit by one perk. Apparently a lot of them liked tunneling and instantly rehooking sadly :/

  • I came in expecting the usual "let me tunnel devs!" thread but I am pleasantly surprised. I agree that this condition would make Decisive Strike more fun to use as both survivor and killer. Survivors would have to decide critically whether to get back to objectives or to be protected from tunneling. Killers don't have to worry about patrolling and getting hit by a random DS from 45 seconds ago. I would also like it if DS deactivates when the user unhooks a survivor, because unhooks are also a core objective.

all this means is that they can't massively overhaul the whole game in one fell swoop. They are trying to make changes here and there that address balance while also addressing major complaints. most people feel like billy was already in a good place, but bubba was garbage and toxic with his basement camp ability. Since bubba didn't have a survivor they decided to bring billy into the rework and make the chainsaw bros distinct from each other. before that we had the map rework which, granted, was more beneficial to killer than survivor. and what came before that? Ruin nerf, which was decidedly and massively survivor sided.

We all knew that once Ruin was nerfed there would be at least a few mid chapters that favored killer to compensate. likely within another couple of mid chapter updates we will see more survivor sided changes again, and killers will get to shake their fists in rage once again.

And besides that, survivor side got a brand new meta perk (soul guard) in the last chapter.

Lets not let our personal bias rule our behavior

Ruin "nerf" just made the perk more effective in the highest echelons of competitive dbd. And then they even compensated for all the complaints about the change by nerfing great skill check boosts, which was called a minor change by killers when in fact it was exactly all Ruin did against top tier survivors. Killers may claim to want balance but, just like survivors, they often just want to make their individual experience more enjoyable. This motive isn't inherently harmful, but lying about it is.

  • Lmfao the devs will literally never be able to please ALL of us entitled snots. Just be happy they are devs who actually listen to the community and try to make any requested changes at all.

  • @oxygen said:

It's stupid no matter who does it when they can't seperate their dislike of a perk, perk combo, item, killer or whatever else from the player using said thing and it's way too common.

"You're bad if you use X", "You're sweaty if you use Y", "Using Z is toxic" - it's possible to dislike something without shaming players for using it, a thing that's in the game, yet people do exactly that scrub garbage way too often.

    Well said

  • Complaining about perks and other in game mechanics when players are just trying to use them and not use exploits or anything is immature and directing complaints to the wrong people. It is not a practice to be encouraged by anyone who actually cares about game health.

  • @MadLordJack said:

DS/UB is both one of the most frowned upon and defended builds in DBD. Half of the community calls it the small pp build, and the other half actually tried to justify running it.

Edit: And the funny part is, most of those that justify it immediately go on to complain about Stridor Spirit and Forever Freddy.

And then the people who defend what survivors complain about then complain about survivors. Survivors aren't the only "hypocrites" in the community Dr. Bias.

  • Who's this "community" you talk about? Complaining about survivor perks is the most popular thing on the forums afaik.

  • @Justalittlepeeck said:

The tirems being unclensable is a big warning hence why I made it this way and plus the EGC starting immediately would also be a giveaway..it turns the end game into a mini game so to speak

A big warning they can do nothing about :/

  • Well said. Ranks mean nothing, especially during the first 10-20 matches when mmrs are still settling.

  • @MissRememberMe said:

Why is everyone saying open it by yourself? I think OP means that as a killer its not fair for survivors to 99% the gate so they can rescue other survivors with no pressure. I think the exit hate should be opened up on like 5-8 seconds, but it has to be done all at once. That would fix a lot of the issues.

Egc isn't there for free pressure for the killer mate

  • @immortalls96 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1504067#Comment_1504067

The issue is this is then just an even less impactful noed which isnt what I'm after as noed is a mediocre hex to start with..sure survivors will like it but now your punished for using it on top of the dead perk slot for the rest of the game..plus as the killer gets no bonuses unless a noed hex is cleansed and a hook was required beforehand I figured it'd be more fun that the current iteration..especially since dulls are usually cleaned on sight nowadays..plus anti totem perks are busted rn

It's fine to buff NOED, but the least you could do is also make it more manageable and noticeable to survivors. Uncleansable totems isn't exactly manageable, and the best counter to NOED would still be hoping the killer has it and running around cleansing dulls.

  • This only makes NOED more killer favored...was that the intention?

The point I was trying to make in this post wasn't just to say survive with friends should be taken down completely that it's ruining the game, the point I was trying to make was sometimes the killer doesn't want to play against the survive with friends group all the time because they just want to play a normal game against solo queue.

Because, if they can communicate somehow without voicing their communication then good on them that's cool but when you're going against the survive with friends all the time they always have eyes on your location even if you don't know where they're at yourself.

I've played survive with friends sometimes myself, so I understand that I want to play with my friend sometimes and I just don't want to play killer, but when I do play killer and I go against that toxic survive with friends group it takes all the fun from the game that I was previously enjoying when I was just playing solo cues or I was playing a game as killer that I didn't have a survive with friends group.

Then it wouldn't be a problem with swf, it would be a problem with how toxic survivors can ruin people's enjoyment of a trial.

  • Why do you think they gave killers the option to open exit gates?

  • @Kebek said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1496038#Comment_1496038

Exactly as you said, killer is given time to prepare for survivor's items. For example if killer hates going vs flashlights he can take franklin or lightborn. Same for keys, medkits whatever. If it's not a big deal then there's even less reason to allow last second switching.

If it's not a big deal then it doesn't justify a strange inconvenience for survivors.

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1495988#Comment_1495988

Especially when the devs have already stated they are planning to add an early game system. IMO it's really all the game needs as well since really all killers need to is a bit of breathing room at the start of the game.

Agreed. The beginning of the trial shouldn't immediately be ultra stressful for the killer, I would prefer the beginning of the trial having the feel of being a relaxed hunter gently wading through the fog hoping to chance upon a victim.

  • @Kebek said:

People here comparing that survivors can't prepare for killers so why should killer get a chance to prepare is ridiculous.

Did you notice that you're playing an asymetrical game that has intended design on creating a lobby system to allow killer to prepare perks for survivors and chat for survivors to talk about strategy, synergy builds etc. Game is designed with the idea of giving killer time to prepare and last second switching bypasses that intended design. There's no legitimate reason to defend last second switching.

What do you mean give killer time to prepare? They can literally only see cosmetics and items, what's the tactical advantage you're trying to protect? I say let survivors have just as much time as killers to change their setup.

  • It is the killer's responsibility to slow the game down. If you can't chase and down survivors efficiently enough, then you don't belong up at those ranks.

They should have never existed this is the point, just because they already exist does not mean compensation is not in order.

Am I the only one who finds whining survivors ironic? Especially about NOED when they have their hatches and adrenaline (and million second chance perks)?

Not at all, doesn't mean killers deserve a perk for free.

  • Hatch has existed for a while, it's not a new change killers need to be compensated for.

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1494268#Comment_1494268

Because a lot of survivors try to do other things besides doing just gens. People with flashlights love to try to go for flashlight saves for example.

You'll rarely encounter a team of extremely optimal survivors who sit on gens when not being chased, but when you do it's basically impossible to win unless the survivors themselves mess up.

Whatever you want to tell yourself is the reason you sometimes lose as killer. Facts, logic, evidence, examples, any of those would be nice here.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1494268#Comment_1494268

Not a myth, it's basic math.

Match starts, killer runs to opposite side of the map, probably takes around 15 seconds or so. Spot the first survivor, start a chase. If all they do is hold w, takes about 20 seconds to hit them. If all they do is hold w again, it takes about 20 seconds to catch up to them (seriously try it, you will get bloodlusted before you get caught). Now the killer spends probably another 15 seconds or so making sure there's no flashlight save happening, picks up the survivor, and hooks them. Now to add that all up.

    15 seconds + 20 seconds + 20 seconds + 15 seconds

    15 + 20 + 20 + 15 = 70 seconds.

A generator takes 80 seconds. During that first chase, you are going to lose 3 gens. Now just repeat and you win the game.

Now, obviously you can't do this on every killer due to their powers. but it won't work on: Billy, Huntress, Nurse, Spirit, Deathslinger. Hmm odd, i notice something there. That's all the killers that survivors complain about all the time...

I don't hear anybody complaining about any killers, except noob survivors about Billy and many survivors about Spirit. Deathslinger is complained about because people don't like facing him for some reason. Huntress only complained about because of jank "hitboxes" or whatever. Notice how you ignored the fact that Hag is just as good as any of those characters, Oni too. Come back when you want to have an actual discussion instead of just trying to attack "the other side". I don't have time for your petty whining.

Now I’m more confused than ever.

My rebuttal was in response to someone saying along the lines of “of course you lost those gens and had no map pressure. You were either patrolling or chasing at the beginning “

My point is across an entire match those are a killers only 2 overarching activities: patrol or chase. What else is a killer meant to do?

They weren't saying "you were either patrolling or chasing", they were saying that OP either patrolled wrong or took a bad chase. Big difference bud.

  • Shorter chases also means more m1 holding and skill checks for survivors lmao, what we need is a new exciting objective to replace some of the unnecessarily long time currently required to complete gens.

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/177459/gen-times-arent-the-problem-its

You could have survivors literally use no pallets and just run in a straight line when hit and they would still get all gens done if they were efficient enough.

Personally I think maps need more work done, but gens are certainly still a problem.

Nice myth. If that were true, why would survivors ever lose? They just need to pump gens and run in a straight line to win, how could they play worse than that?

It definitleyndoes work. They/them/you fits as a pronoun. It does not. It is a term for an inanimate object.

And yeah, most internet culture revolves around using "he", but anytime someone corrects them, it changes. Nobody has a problem with that.

Calling someone IT is disgusting, regardless of who or what you are. Unless they specifically for some reason want to be called "it".

Theres no argument or semantics here. "Because how english works". There are neutral pronouns. It is not one of them.

I'm pretty sure it's not common knowledge that referring to someone on the Internet as it is "disgusting". It is a pronoun like any other to people who don't go around looking for the next big offensive thing to be mad at. A ban is not a suitable punishment for someone who refers to another user as it in a way that is not malicious or meant to harass that user. If a user doesn't like the pronouns being used for them, they can always clarify their pronouns in response. An immediate ban should be reserved for real trolling and harassment, not to push your personal sjw agenda on people who had no idea about your secret rules.

Because unless THEY specified THEY wanted to be called it, which I ######### doubt they did, the easy go to for being unsure is THEY.

IT dehumanizes people. Regardless of gender, calling someone IT establishes that you view them as an item, not a person.

They doesn't always work because of how the English language works. Plus, pronouns aren't really that big a deal as shown by the majority of users on these forums automatically referring to other users as he. Sensitive mods applying judgement based on their personal view of the topic is not just or understandable, it is anarchy. Glad to see we got the sjws out already.

That is what this thread is about. Stating our opinions which we do not share with others. And of all of them you go after mine...?

PH has weaknesses. Inclines, pitfalls, weird pathing... etc. but every killer has weaknesses. Some are minor, some are not, but if a player knows how to mitigate/work around those weaknesses, then it is like there aren't any. For me, PH is top tier because I know how to mitigate his weaknesses and play to his strengths.

That isn't a judgement statement though, because of the survivors I have talked/written to, they dislike that he avoids DS and Unbreakable, which are two meta perks. I should have specified that it is the survivor-only players who dislike PH for these reasons.

I also think a killer that can ignore these things is necessary for the games overall health, as it makes them unreliable...

No need to hide your hot takes my friend, I'm glad I could help you bring them out into the open. I don't disagree with anything you just said, save for the assumption that DS and Unbreakable are reliable and heavily used perks. You're thinking of Kindred and Self Care, which exclusively have unreliability in the form of killer powers. DS and Unbreakable are unreliable because killer players use unique strategies when it comes to distributing pressure with hooking and slugging. Glad we could have a civil discussion.

Small games and detectives Hunt exist.

Also that's a ridiculously quick totem cleansing speed. Especially when perks would have 15% as their maximum or at least that's when they will come online after you get a couple of stacks.

I didn't mean the perks OP had as examples, they were obviously lazy jokes.

So the killer is having a hard time at the beginning of the match...what's your point?

You really think git gud should be bannable? Smh bro. No offense but 'm glad you are not a mod.

Agreed. People shouldn't be immediately banned just because someone doesn't like what they're saying. That'd be like banning killers who go around spamming "Do Bones" or "Git Gud".

  • The mods are cool, they are just tired of troll burner accounts trying to tear apart the forums. Prove to them that that's not what you're trying to do and they'll treat you respectfully.

Because a lot of people don't like PH and think he's mid tier. I think he is top tier, and because he plays best when survivors try to be toxic to him, when most killers complain about toxicity and he can just shrug it off...

No, I didn't complain about toxicity, and no, I didn't say they are inherently toxic. Only that there is toxicity and he deals with it. Read before responding.

So you think PH is top tier and is great for avoiding survivor toxicity. I agree. Also, I did read but apparently you didn't. You clearly state in your 2nd sentence that PH's toxicity avoidance is why survivors dislike him.

  • @Raven014 said:

Legion is underrated and almost never played correctly. They have to make second by second decisions that alter the course of the game, and must pick and choose who they go for. Almost nobody does this, and just chases really badly.

PH is a devastating killer that can deny most survivor toxicity, and is at their best when they try to be toxic. That is, I think, the problem most survivors have with him, that they cant abuse DS or Unbreakable against a good PH. They force any survivor to be cautious.

How is the second paragraph a hot take? It seems more like a way for you to bring up how toxic you think survivors inherently are, which is kind of a toxic thing to do all the time mind you.

  • They are correct that you had no map pressure, but it wasn't entirely your fault. An m1 killer on Coldwind is rough and they brought stacked toolboxes to boot. Maps and killers are still a little broken, I believe in balance issues, not silly fake problems like "tunneling" or "gen rushing". If you played your best all you can do now is hope for better luck next time.

  • The survivor is also stunned for about a second so it's kind of only a 4 second stun if 5 seconds sounds like too big a number to you.

  • The pace of dbd is too slow, survivors should be more than just skins, solo survivors should have the tools to coordinate as well as swf.

  • @BigTimeGamer said:

ohhhh boy, these imo may be hot takes for the devs, may not all be controversial in eyes of players:

    1. Aim Dressing aka NotAutoAim is terrible and needs to go, anything that takes control from player is a no no.
    2. Only unique legendary cosmetics (Oni Minotaur, Legion Bunny) should be linked, ones like the Nea one are ridiculous.
    3. Not every perk needs to have a drawback (New Knockout nerf)
    4. Deathslinger spamming ADS for free zoning is bad game design and lacks risk. PH has similar issues.
    5. Spirit should be deleted.

nothing can convince me otherwise from any of these

If Deathslinger couldn't zone for free with his ADS, what kind of pressure would he be able to apply?

The devs aren't done with Billy.

They're probably going to tweak the numbers again making him more punishing to use because their stated goal for the overheat mechanic hasn't been realized yet.

They want to limit player's access to his power, the current overheat numbers don't do this.

This is especially noticeable when you hear the praises from billy mains saying "He feels the same as before, just with addon changes".

I don't mind the overheat, what really kills the experience is the constant screeching. I know this is the killer role and all, but this is a bit too many unnecessary frustrations, even for me.
