I asked a question. Thus the question mark. Getting in the way of a killer about to drop someone is a body block. Just like standing in front of the hook. I didnt say anyone is cheating. I never said forever either. Why would I need evidence?

Your question didn't need to be asked. Unless you were purposely misunderstanding the OP or trying to cause an argument.

Tanking hits for teammates or sabotaging hooks to help teammates is legit gameplay where as a killer body blocking someone in a corner for example and ya know, holding the person hostage is not. The two are not the same, there is a very big difference and you should acknowledge or realize that.

Honestly I see the locker thing as an exploit, and should be reportable. Like they know what they are doing, you know what they are doing, and that isn't how the add-on is intended. They need to add a mori animation for Shape pulling a survivor from a locker. It could be a horrifying animation of Shape just stabbing them through the locker door.

Except it isn't an exploit. Its a counter to an add-on. A very powerful add-on. And a reasonable counter to it.

Annoying & more difficult to deal with? Yea of course. But thats it.

  • Perfectly fine IMO as well. Before, it was a free safety net.

Now we all have to time our DHs and there's some element of skill involved. Its also hit and miss, you're not always going to get value out of it, there is no guarantee. A lot of good killers also wait/bait it out since they expect or assume its 1 of the perks you're running.

Its definitely annoying as killer, since every second counts but in terms of balance, its fine. There are ways around it but it is also rewarding for the survivor who successfully timed or 'guessed' when a killer would swing. In a good state now.

  • ...it doesn't really fit the game IMO. So I'd say not for me, no.

Would rather have a Candyman, Predator, Jason, Alien, The Thing or even Chris Walker from Outlast 1.

  • I had a match on Badham IV against a Nurse, I was repairing the gen in the 2 story house that only 1 person can get on.

Dude went far enough away so heartbeat dropped, and 10 seconds later..A snowman shows up and actually spooks me cause I wasn't expecting that (or knew heartbeat dropped). Just stares at me for a good few seconds, blocking the doorway so I'm just stuck there by the gen lol. Then out pops the Nurse.

Later on, saw them using the snowman to deceive my teammates working on gen and approach them innocently.

That was my first match of the event. 10/10.

I've seen both killers use it tactically (waiting near a hooked teammate in a snowman for example) as well as to jumpscare or surprise players. Either way I'm all for it.

There are five people playing the match. If you play without that in mind, play a story-driven game or a single player game.

..This is odd coming from the person who left a match b/c of how a killer played. Lacking self awareness, I suppose.

Now you D/c'd and left your teammates in an even worse situation than before just b/c of the way a killer played. If you play like that in mind, play a story-driven game or a single player game.

& yes its totally a ragequit when this is your reason. You can't handle or control their gameplay so you resort to a little temper tantrum by D/cing. Just play it out, there are plenty of matches that start out rocky but turn around as the match goes on. For both sides.

  • @RainehDaze said:

Am I the only person who ran into people playing around with the snowmen? Also doing the game, but snowmen.

Nah. I only played a few matches but so far, nothing crazy bad.

My first game was actually against a Nurse on Badham IV, I was doing the gen in the 2 story house ...He went far enough away so heartbeat dropped & a few seconds later, a Snowman showed up and just stared at me blocking the doorway. We both just stood there (I was genuinely spooked for a second there, since there was no heartbeat, thought it was a teammate trolling) and then Bam! Out pops the Nurse and slashes me.

Game continued on, Nurse tried using the snowman a few times (funny seeing a snowman patrol gens or try to deceive survivors), and we played the match out. Despite it being a Nurse and the player's name being sweatynurse, it was a good match.

Again, only played a few matches. So far so good.

  • Nope. Used it on the PTR, didn't like how bad the bots were. Legit running to the corners of the map and running around a wall with a window, vaulting back and forth through it, etc.

I also just typically prefer real interactions with real people, but I do see the incentive for people who want to learn a new killer or practice without any stress.

Its a nice addition and maybe the AI has been improved but its not really for me, per say. Enjoy though.

Annoyed about someone speaking something they know nothing about is not the same as mad dude. You clearly have no idea what I’m talking about, or you DC/Hook Suicide all the time, or you’re probably just new to the game and have yet to play serious killers. Please though, see yourself out

I'll bite since you wanted to assume some more. Lots of 'or or or' in there, good rational post man.

Annoyance = someone disagrees with me, tells me to play better, can't take it so lash out with condescending and rude comments. Check!

I know a lot about what I'm saying, you just don't like the fact I called you out for being stuck in gold for a month. I have over 2k hours in this game, been Iri1 for both killer and survivor in the past, and I'm Iri now. You can keep assuming and deflecting everything on to others though, you're good at that at least. And if you were so good and you only got strong killers like Nurse & Blight, yet you claim being hard stuck for a month in gold, your MMR would go down and you'd face 'easier' killers as you put it. Stop acting like you're the only one going against S tier killers, and S tier only. Especially in solo Q. You're not. Don't gotta lie bout it on the forums, ma dude.

  • You got mad I pointed out you shouldn't be hard stuck in gold for a month, then started being condescending and rude. Nothing of substance to add again, anyways I'll see myself out. GL.

  • Just plugging this for anyone whose interested. 1HR long match Hens decided to show just how strong gen locking can be with Eruption (someone else brought it up so I decided to watch, 10/10 evil Hens).

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vv3I9hHLblE

  • Assuming I get easy killers over and over while you only get difficult ones is another part of coping. I guess you don't want to admit that but that's alright (also since when is Spirit an 'easy' killer, sure not as strong as before but strong nonetheless). I go against Nurses, Blights and a range of others, with some of those players having thousands of hours in the game. But tell yourself whatever you want man. :)

GL getting out of gold in the next season with your mindset.

  • Yes it deserves to be adjusted/nerfed. Its the same situation old DH was in; the only ones who defended it were the ones who wanted to keep using it. When everyone else saw what it truly was. Same situation, just with Eruption & killer mains with clear bias coming out of the fog to disagree for the sake of disagreeing.

Even saw in 1 thread a week or so ago, someone's excuse for defending it was 'well people used to tell me old DH was fine, so I'm saying Eruption is fine now'.

Maybe you guys didn’t read what I wrote but I don’t have build issues or efficiency issues it’s the disconnects and suicides on hook at 5 gens leading to a 3v1 in just about every single game that is the issue. As I stated in my OP, 10 out of 10 games was a DC or suicide on hook at 5 gens.

I did read it. Yes and I said some nights or days you will have those. It happens. 3 nights ago I played 5 matches and someone either D/C'd or killed themselves on hook at 5 or 4 gens, in all 5 of those matches, I did not live and I lost 3 pips. I ended up closing the game after that cause I just felt 'whats the point'. But to not move out of gold in 1 months time? Nah that's partially on you. I've also had matches where 1-2 people kill themselves on hook at 5/4 gens, just because of the killer they're facing and I still manage to +pip or at the very least, black pip.

Ex. Faced a Spirit almost a week ago, 2 of my teammates got caught at the very beginning and both wanted to kill themselves on hook. Eventually they succeeded but me and the Vittorio who stayed in the match, decided to just try for points, we still did gens when the other was being chased, we still went and saved each other every time (thankfully Spirit was nice enough to not just sit at hook and actually let us save each other each hook state), and she didn't tunnel one of us, she took turns chasing both of us. In the end we still died, but I +pip'd. Pretty sure the Vitt did too.

There are a lot of situations that you can still turn around and make something out of. Not always, but there are definitely a lot of surprising matches like I said that seemed like a depip but turned out to be a black pip or +pip.

  • Just get to the point where you don't even debate or acknowledge the few people who actually defend this perk. They don't care about balance, they care about losing a perk they run in 95% of their builds because they know how overtuned and strong it is. They are not unbiased, they either don't play solo and/or are killer 'mains'. Everyone with a brain and experience in solo que can see that Eruption is not healthy for the game as solo que is the majority. Anyone disputes that, just roll your eyes & move on. No point talking to a wall.

  • While I do agree that you can have those days or nights where ranking up is near impossible, I won't say you can't pip up in solo que. Just gotta do a lot more work to compensate for those types of teammates.

I was gold 1 last night and needed 2 pips to hit Iridescent.

Won my first match & got out, pip. Immediately after, went against a Wesker who just tunneled & even face camped me, while teammates just unhooked me for points and ran off, no bodyblocks, no taking a hit, etc. Depipped.

Next match, a Freddy on Swamp. 2 of my teammates were death hook and we had 1 gen left. Eventually, he started to catch me and I was soon death hook. Kid you not, the Meg & David who were on death hook weren't even trying to do a gen, they just walked around in the corners of the map too afraid to do anything. Thankfully the other person who hadn't been hooked (who was trying to help me repair the final gen) got it done and we all got out. +2 pipped into Iridescent, called it a night there lol.

Being stuck in gold for a month...yea IDK bout that. I'd assume you're not playing well or efficiently. We all get those teammates that D/C, snowball the match or just kill themselves on hook, it sucks but you should still find some matches to +pip if you focus on a little bit of everything. Even in some matches where my teammates have D/C'd or killed themselves, I've surprised myself and pip'd.

But yea, solo que is very bad. No disagreements there.

  • Oh they know, they just don't care.

    Negative reviews might help.

  • Well yea..its the only exhaustion that is reliant on hit/miss.

No other exhaustion perk does that. You aren't baiting out Lithe, Balanced Landing or even Sprint Burst to the level you are DH. If they fine tuned the other exhaustion perks to make them more activatable rather than just 'hey I vaulted a window' or I 'dropped from the 2nd floor' or I 'just decided to run and haha, I'm faster than you for a few seconds'...well then more skill and knowledge would be involved.

I don't think BHVR is going to go in that direction, it'd be great if they did though cause it would definitely affect DH's usage rate.

  • If you want to rely on yourself more & still improve MMR (for those games where everyone dies before you do), start running a gate open build. I've been running it for a month or so now & been loving it.

I started with Fixated, Adrenaline, Wake Up & Sole Survivor.

I altered it after the recent new patch to Dead Hard, Adrenaline, Wake Up & Sole Survivor. I wanted to have a chance at prolonging chases during the match to help my team out more.

I kid you not, out of all the times I've now gotten to that forced situation (30+), I've only died twice. No one can really catch you opening the gate unless they're Blight, Spirit or Nurse. You rely on the killer to get hatch, they get hatch (Adrenaline pops) and you most likely will get a gate open if you play it properly. Rushing the gate isn't always the right choice but its dependent on the match and situation (like if the hatch was near a gate or the 2 gates are easily in LoS of each other, etc).

The main reason I started running this is because of unreliable teammates who either D/C'd, went down incredibly quick, hook bombed, killed themselves on hook, etc. List goes on.

    Try it out man.

    1. Nurse - not satisfying & feels like I'm cheating
    2. Legion - boring
    3. Knight - not my playstyle & overall boring
    4. Hilbilly - clunky to play and I'm horrible with the chainsaw
    5. Artist - not my playstyle
  • I've been asking for a mute lobby for awhile. The bloodweb sounds are also incredibly irritating to hear over and over. When I have 1-2 mil BP and I just want to spend it all, I just turn master volume to 0. Since using all those BP takes 10-30m depending on how much you have. Let me just sit in the main lobby in peace.

  • Ultimately boring. He's good at one thing, camping. Don't think we need more of that though. Believe he needed more tuning/coding. They pushed him out in a state that just says 'unfinished' to me.

  • Yea had that bush by shack as well yesterday. But on the door side where you are. So if you were running the killer through shack and you turned right, you'd just be hit with the giant bush. Very questionable placement.

  • Jesus...think this is the highest I've seen someone sharpen their game.

  • You don't.

The game isn't balanced around SWF.

  • Never left. Always been a staple.

  • DH is in a good state now. CoH is more or less okay, you can always bring Shattered Hope if they annoy you so much. A lot of killers do ignore them.

The only thing I agree with you on is auto DH scripts need to be addressed.

Now...should we actually talk about perks that deserve nerfs, like Eruption in solo que? Probably don't want to talk about that, huh. 😁

(kidding, I know Eruption already gets talked about here enough, haha).

  • This is a badass and awesome skin, I like it a lot. Reminds me of Baldur from God of War. One of the better skins in the last 5-6 months, I'd say.

It gives killers an excessive payoff tied to an uncounterable condition, with the minimal requirement of a gen kick, while targetting exclusively the weaker players of the game. Yes, killers shouldn't have it

I wouldn't go as far to say they shouldn't have the perk, lol.

But it definitely needs a looking at. IDK how it got the OK from BHVR and went live. Horrible design.

  • How is solo que not being able to counter it, a weak argument? Thats majority of the playerbase. Its not healthy for the game when solo players can't do anything about it. Its that simple.

Maps aren't just straight lines, they're boxes filled with bushes, walls, buildings & floor levels that all make it nearly impossible to see when a teammate is about to go down. You're useless once it activates on you, for 25 seconds. You're just dead weight. Dead weight and a person just got hooked. Guess where the killer's coming next? Yup! Right back to the gen he knows you were working on, just to set up another Eruption...which is already off CD and can be used again (combo that with Pain Res and CoB). Its extremely oppressive and we have no answers for it and the people who do try to defend the perk are just unrealistic and clearly biased.

Reminds me of when I asked Tru3 what a solo player should do to counter it and he seriously said 'just don't go down', lol.

  • I think the perk was fine and people over exaggerated. It helped chases with the strong killers at the time (Nurse, Blight, Spirit) that a lot of times relied on sound to find out exactly where they were during chase. I liked it because it brought more mind gaming to chases. Anyone with decent headphones can hear you making noise now (even if you're playing a quiet character like Ace or Ada) and the perk deactivating while exhausted makes no sense to me at all. I know it won't be reverted but there's a reason almost no one brings it now unless they're trying new builds, messing around, or playing casually versus at a higher MMR.

  • Yea I do wish it was more punishing.

Take LoL for example, which is 1000x more toxic than this game's community. I remember I was playing a QP game a few months ago and I was trying to learn a new hero, which I was doing horribly with and my score was reflective of that. Some teammate decided to start insulting me and hurling personal attacks, even wishing my mom got cancer, etc. I finally replied and asked why he had to resort to personal attacks instead of just playing the game, since it was QP and not as serious as competitive. Thats why I was playing there.

Sure enough, he doesn't stop and he just gets worse. We lose the game. Upon score completion, I reported him for toxicity and lowering team morale, etc. Get out of score/match completion and I'm hit with a 14 day ban instantly.

Even though it wasn't justified at all, it was immediate because of the auto ban system they have in place. I don't think it was justified since it does seem like it can be abused, but thats a 14 day ban as my FIRST one (I stopped playing entirely, even after the ban was up). DbD should definitely improve their punishments for toxicity, if they want to curb the end-game chatters from blowing up on people. And its mostly the ego andys who run an SWF and lose.

  • Not really, its more or less the same rate as before. Its a very good perk so people are going to run it just like other very strong 'meta' perks.

Being able to rely on it for end-game is a huge clutch since like said, it opens up a lot of plays and allows the survivor to keep the pressure on a killer by not losing time healing. I'm not surprised if people bring it. I'd be more surprised if they didn't tbh.

  • Nope. I like the survivor visually and he brings a good info perk but I'll just wait for it to hit the shrine a few months to a year later like I did with CoH. Don't really care for the killer, just another Artist playstyle more or less. Not very interesting.

If by "holding you hostage" you mean waiting at the exit gates and refuse to leave, then they definitively don't do it because "you did something". In my experience, most of the matches where survivors escape through the exit gates have one or more survivors who waits at the exit gate for a long time. I see it happen as both killer and survivor. I have even seen a case where the killer was clearly having a bad game, so he let us do the last gen, openned the exit gates himself and went to a corner of the map to wait for us to escape... I left right away while the others, all healed, kept clicking their flashlights and vault-spamming near the exit to taunt the killer.

I'm not saying that doesn't happen. I see that too. I said its either bullying or people decide to do it to spite the killer for something they did or didn't do in the match. Even brought an example of myself doing it to someone I thought had it coming. Yea so that example of yours falls under bullying/rubbing it in. But to say people don't do it as well b/c how a killer plays, is not true.

  • If they're holding you hostage, its likely they are bullies or you did something so they think you deserve it. Did it today to a Huntress who camped and tunneled an Ace (all solos) immediately upon hooking him. Saw cause Kindred. Didn't go on anyone else, despite me and the others taking hits for him, trying to grab the killer's attention, or doing gens right in the killer's face as the Ace ran by. Huntress got the Ace at the very end when we powered gates, the 3 of us remaining got out (after waiting for EGC's bar to get to 1%) and sure enough the Huntress decided to talk s*, laughing and making fun of the Ace for dying. Context matters a lot.

Either way, simple solution is to force them out. Alt tabbing is just contributing to the problem. Like if you won't help yourself then ?? I guess keep alt tabbing.

  • Ehh..its a bit much for my liking, I'd probably just run Kindred since thats actually very good vital info. A lot of people don't know when to go for saves, end up running over only to get there as someone is just unhooking them.

Bond could be nice in certain situations but I don't value it as highly as Kindred. Same with Visionary. Just information I don't really 'need' that I could replace with something else that would benefit me or my team more.

I love running Kindred but it can also be frustrating, seeing what people are doing or not doing. Also pretty bad feeling to run a killer for 3 gens, get first hooked, no one comes to save & you die.

  • Can't really blame 2 survivors hiding when the match is clearly not winnable via repairing gens. I've seen a lot of killers get entitled about it, thinking the survivors should just throw themselves at the killer and secure their 4K. Because 'the games over'. Or 'what a waste of time'. Its not on the survivor or the killer. BHVR needs to address it.

  • Its good information and tied to skill checks, its not constant and its not for an unlimited duration. If a survivor is using it, they likely swapped it in over another strong perk they were using before. And the only people who will get the most use out of it are the ones who never miss great skillchecks (ie pre nerfed ruin). A killer will also have to adapt or counter that.

Its not incredibly strong and like others said, it does very little if anything for SWFs and it helps improve solo play a lot more. Good addition.

  • Yea I gotta agree. Survivors are the main killers. They don't like the way the match is going or they feel entitled/are incredibly impatient.

Essentially a temper tantrum like a kid has in the grocery store when his mom doesn't let him get what he wants so he just starts scream crying.

  • Big disagree. When you start adding incentives like BP and shards to a game mode focused solely around bots, it not only opens that avenue up to be abused but takes away from the playerbase that ques up a match against other players. You shouldn't be rewarded in a MP game for playing essentially a 'private match'...with bots. No game does that. Because its unhealthy and unfair to all the people who are matchmaking against real players. Also have you seen the bots? The AI is pretty bad still and I've had them walking into me as killer while not moving, or going to the worst place on the map which is usually the corners with the very short walls and window, where they decide to loop around or vault the window over and over.

If you want to play against bots, thats fine. I think people should be allowed to practice and work on builds, killers, etc w/o the stress and anxiety some people feel when playing. But keep the rewards solely around matchmaking.

  • @Johann84 said:

    Why is these still allowed?

B/c its a multiplayer game and you shouldn't be so sensitive.

'Why is this still allowed?' sounds like you want it to be bannable or punishable via BHVR involvement.

I'm sorry but if teabagging is that bad for you, stop playing multiplayer games because that is essentially a crumb of what you can face in PvP games.

  • Hey man, I play lone survivor style right now too. Not in the way you describe, where I just hide and do nothing, but I do measure how the match is going and if I do or don't do something, how will it affect my survival. For example, the infamous slug 3rd teammate for bait hoping the final survivor will come out and attempt to save. In a lot of those situations, thats like death knockin on your front door. You go for the save - you will die. And so will your teammate. Whats the lesser evil of that? Instead of handing a killer an easy 4k, I leave him with a 3k. Yea he technically 'wins' but I still get out and increase my MMR. Even made a thread highlighting the build because I think its insanely good.

Now if you really do mean people are hiding and not doing anything, then yea that sucks. Trying to play the match and get objectives done, help your teammates, etc feels like a slap in the face when you realize there's 1 teammate just doing nothing but running around. But you have to also understand there are many builds people come up with and that reinforces the way they play sometimes. Doesn't mean the playstyle you're describing is promoted.

  • Ehh, context matters. The way I see it, if a killer wants to and tries to waste my time, I won't have any problem wasting theirs if the opportunity arises. But its rare. Some matches do come to mind though.

  • There are much worse. Try LoL, Valorant or Overwatch. Even R6S.

This playerbase is pretty tame in comparison.

Why killers telling "get good in chase", then complain about how good a survivor in chase and the game is survivor's sided while bragging about their 80% kill rate.

Why killers telling "use 2nd chance perks" when survivors complains about tunneling, then complain about survivors use 2nd chance perks.

Why killers telling "just do gen" when survivors complain about camping that the only true counter is to play swf for communication, then complain about playing against swf

Hit it on the nail man. You'll never win.

he explained why he plays for kills. its because the game for killer is not balanced for hooks. if he plays for hooks, he is playing the game in its imbalanced state. Eruption tries to balance the game for hooks by rewarding the killer for downing the survivor. The issue is that kicking generator is secondary objective for the killer. Secondary objectives are not helpful towards a role that lacks time. Ultimately, the majority of killer powers are balanced around the killer getting a low amount of hooks which is why he disagrees with developer's obsession on balancing off the kill statistic because kill statistic does not accurately represent the killer's gameplay.

Right, so he's adapting to the game's state and playing appropriately. Its only secondary to a killer if they aren't running Call of Brine, Eruption or other gen disturbing perks. Your build plays a huge part. You're moving goal posts. Stick to the topic. Eruption & its bad design. You brought up 'counters' that aren't counters. Solo has no real counter, you seem to echo only what Tru3 says and you've already had it explained why your whole 'don't get downed' reasoning is absurd. I think even you know this. You haven't explained or responded to anything of what I've said in regards to counterplay.

And when someone answers as poorly as you or Tru3 does, all it does is lower your credibility.

1 … 8 9 10 11 12 … 25
