  • Her Iri Tape is probably her best one as it turns on the last 4 TVs you've turned off by teleporting whenever you hit someone within 8 seconds after manifesting.

Letting you bounce around the whole map as much as you want stacking Condemned, and puts extra pressure on survivors to waste time with Tapes.

Oh, YouTubers who are (1) awesome at the game and (2) make a significant chunk of money from it every month disagree with me? My lived experience must be wrong. Thank you for helping me to understand that I can't trust my own eyes.

So what you're saying is that people that practically play the game for a living with multiple thousands of hours who have extensive experience with matchmaking going over the actual technical results of the SMMR tests, and speaking to how its less the matchmaking system and more the perks in play can't possibly have actual insight into these systems?

Your lived experience is what it is. You just lack objectivity.

  • For all the overblown whining about Iri and Julies.

2.6 Seconds to break a Pallet.

.9 Seconds for Legion to vault a Pallet.

3.0 Seconds for Legions cooldown from cancelling Frenzy.

Legion can't down you after vaulting and breaking a pallet with Julie's and Iri unless he hits you after, then cancels his power or you were already injured and he cancels his power right after.

Either way, he's inactive 1.3 seconds LONGER than if he'd just kicked the Pallet. He just gets to take the cooldown to go if he doesn't cancel immediately after.

  • I've only run into macro flashlight users three times, but *every time* in the post game chat the other survivors yelled at them for how annoying it was and how they needed to stop doing that.

  • I think it'd be hilarious if they stealth patched Flashlights so if you use a macro to rapidly click it like that they would then explode and down you.

Legion with Thana, Plaything, Pentimento, Ruin..partytime!

Add Fuming Mix Tape and Never Sleep Pills to taste.

    Perfect Recipe.

  • I wouldn't even call Pain Resonance+Dead Man's slow down. That's just a really fun Perk combo that requires a Scourge Hook. Recently I've been playing Nemesis almost exclusively to go through the massive stack of last year's anniversary cakes I had from leveling him up and I just run Bamboozle, Save the Best for Last, BBQ & Chili, and then switch in and out the last one for whatever. Sometimes Lethal Pursuer, sometimes Sloppy Butcher, sometimes Mindbreaker? Lethargy? I forget the name.

I can't remember the last time I used Ruin.

I win most games at 2 or 1 gens left. 3 if I'm having a good map or Zombie RNG goes in my favor.

I won't lie though, I am planning on trying a Pentimento, Plaything, Thanataphobia, Ruin setup on a Legion with Fuming Mix Tape and Never Sleep Pills. At least once.

Can't blame the killers because your teammates DC.

Quitters are the problem not Legion

"I dont like the game so gonna DC"

Those kinds of people suck so much.

I had a match as The Cenobite last night where I just happened to find the Cube at the very start of the match while patrolling to the first generator I came across, and then I was able to go right to find and down a Claudette very quickly and the second she was down, she disconnected.

  • I don't pay attention to the survivor lobby most of the time.

  • MMR is working great. The last test run with the bilateral changes were a big success. I'm Iri 1 and most of my matches are really fun. Now this varies greatly on time of day and weekday vs weekend because you can't expect the player pool to be filled with the same kinds of players 24/7 and sometimes I'll get a group that just was not prepared for a killer like me in any way but that only happens occasionally,

I'm seeing a wider variety to matches than before but in a good way.

I think these videos are a good watch because I think the whining about MMR is overblown and people use it as an excuse the second they have a bad match.

I think most people are indifferent and just don't like things being slapped on. No matter what, dbd has painted themselves into a corner. This is tokenism no matter what. Hence, if they said they talked to gaymer about it it means they didn't plan on it from the beginning. Her comment means they made it up literally, and for fans of David king they can feel that. People can disagree without being bigots. I'd be annoyed if I retired and someone imagined one of my characters to be straight.

Don't like things being "slapped on" So the way we write for character in things like there where little tidbits are drip feed every so often is to right out of the gate affirm their sexuality immediately and irrefutably? And if a character comes out in one of these story bits after having been in the game it has to be qualified as "slapped on" because you're not allowed to not absolutely declare their sexuality right from the get go.

This automatically creates a ridiculous double standard. Where an assumed heterosexuality is not "slapped on" but story bits revealing him to be gay are.

They had it right with their original position. Letting the players create their own narratives and identify with the characters they most relate to is always the best approach. I can never identify with David King again. :(

    Why not?

Should I not be able to identify with any straight character or protagonists in media? Or should I just be able to because that's "normal"? I'm happy whenever I see a gay couple in something, but the lack of them doesn't make me go "ew I can't with these straights, blegh".

This is why I didn't think making a new character just to be gay would be the better choice, because of reductive homophobes that think being gay is the whole of a persons character and overrides all else.

  • @Dabrownman1812 said:

The issue with me is laziness. As a writer I think it's lazy to just slap LGBTQ on a character because there's lots of fan art. I don't care for sexuality to be noted, but if it needed to be, why didn't the devs make a new character? The anniversary character could've been lgbtq with their own chapter, lots of love. The next tome could've been their tome. It seems more like they're embracing fanships than genuinely creating something. A lazy afterthought to virtue signal while they lie about mmr on a dev stream. I love this game but I hope the relationship with the community gets better.

I disagree completely. Making a new character for DBD's first would be lazy and reductive. They'd be brushed off as the token gay character, and "being gay" would probably be all that the character was about. As a gay guy I am very tired of characters whose entire persona is about the fact that they are gay. For DBD's first one I think its great that they had David come out as it where in his backstory because there was already so much else to David he's just also gay.

Going forward from here I'm sure there will be more LGBT+ characters and I'll welcome them, but I'm glad the first one wasn't just a character designed from the ground up just to be gay.

  • If you're playing Hag and survivors blindly run up to the hook instead of sweeping the area with a flashlight or crouch walking while around it, then that's on them.

Hell I had a game as Hag once where I put a couple traps by a hook but wound up too far away chasing other people to teleport back when they were tripped and the person that unhooked them and triggered those traps told me in the end game chat "I saw you put those traps there, camper!"

Yeah I put Traps there. That's how the character is played. If you blindly run over them and set them off then.... that's kind of your fault.

Even in mid mmr you often see people using it the right way. In high mmr, perk is there 95% of the time and is NEVER and i say N E V ER used to dodge a hit or gain a "few seconds on a straight line". NEVER

You are so biased, its actually funny

Im Iri Rank 1. I see it used effectively. For the invincibility frames, at vaults, at pallets, suddenly backwards towards and behind me.

But these are the exception. Normally people just wait until they think I’m going to attack and just dash forward, which buys them just a second or two.

Hatred not my thing from someone who frets about characters being gay, is afraid someone being trans is next, and refers to companies acknowledging BLM as “that crap”.

You really can't mind game the houses. Unless the survivor is bad and keeps running without making sure you are behind them, there is more than enough distance for the survivor to just run away if you try to double back around the walls.

Not to mention that even if you entity block the vault, there's another vault they can use.

The houses are absolutely ridiculous in their current state without at the very least some breakable wall to reduce the distance needed to play around the windows. Since they are basically just an extreme version of the long fences on old haddonfield that people complained about, but now with vaults.

Most people just use the same window vault over and over. In the Strode house people run through and vault over the fence in the back yard and then vault through the window on the front porch. Just blocking one of those cuts them off. Hardly ever do I get someone jumping out of the second floor window because I can catch up to them instantly unless they're using balanced landing.

The house next to that one is your typical house setup with a basement so that one isn't an issue at all.

The house across the street from that on the end has that window vault inside the front right room that is the most commonly used or they run upstairs and hug the edges of the room with the hole in the floor. and fall off the porch.

The house in the middle on that side is another typical DBD house setup and the one on the end has that vault out the back as well, but its so close to the back door and the only place to go if you try to run around the house is a straight line to the front yard that its very easy to catch up with them.

These are not invincible loops that all killers are at the mercy of.

Literally any smart survivor can easily make a 2 minute chase at one of the houses. If the killer was to leave for another person they would most likely run the house for at least a minute. The ignorance of "just leave to go find someone else" is... idk what to describe it as.

The window vaults are good. The dark corners in most of the houses are good. The wide streets are to keep generators far apart. Its a good map. All that said, chasing a survivor around a house mindlessly until the entity does your job for you does not a bad map make. Maybe try to mind game some of corners.

I've played the map numerous times as Legion, Nemesis, and Sadako and not had an issue. Though my Legion and Nemesis typically have Bamboozle, which kind of handles the whole window vault situation.

It's not ignorance. The house window vaults are good, but you shouldn't just mindlessly chase one survivor around a house for 2 minutes. The day of the patch pretty much all of my matches were New Haddonfield, and I never had this issue. And on the killers I play that use Bamboozle it just shut these down.

If Tombstone Meyers were the most powerful killer build it would be one of the most popular ones but it barely gets any use compared to Blight or Nurse or even Huntress, etc, Not that you can’t win with Tombstone but the downside of how long it takes to charge it up shouldn’t be underestimated, it definitely hurts him.

Dead Hard is the most popular survivor perk. It also seems to be strongly correlated with escape rates based on a large data set posted a couple months ago by a forum user and the devs mentioning they weren’t happy with its stats. So I seriously doubt Tombstone is actually as effective overall as Dead Hard.

The correlation with Dead Hard and escape rates is meaningless because as you say, so many people take it that naturally you're going to have high escape rates with it, but that doesn't not mean that Dead Hard is the reason they escaped the trial.

Quite the opposite. I very very rarely ever see anyone use a Dead Hard in a smart or creative way. 99% of the time, they just dash in a straight line ahead of me, and oh look they bought their selves a literal second of not being hit.

Most people take it because they think they're supposed to take it and have no idea how to properly use it. It is a good perk, but most of its worth as perceived by the community at large is just because they're told it's good and people take it and use it in poor and worthless ways because they don't know any better and aren't thinking for their selves.

He was playing survivor in the video and he literally looped someone for at least 2 minutes around a single house. A SINGLE HOUSE and he wasnt using the god windows that much.

"Look a dumb killer followed a single survivor for 2 minutes straight, change map pls."

  • Making a new character LGBT+ would be taking the easy way out because then that person could just be brushed off as the token gay. The harder route is having a pre existing character come out in expanded backstory because then you have to live with everyone who had preconceptions about the character confront the reality that they are gay.

This is a thing that happens in life. People come out, and those that knew them before have to recognize that. A lot of gay men grow up having girlfriends before they figure their selves out or are maybe in denial. People are multifaceted, emotions are complex.

A new character would have just been seen as being made solely to be "the gay one" and it would have been reductive. I think this is the much better choice for the moment of being DBD's first.

  • Its deeply amusing to me how this little thing has so many homophobes all tore up and outing their selves. How fragile they are that David being gay is a deal breaker for using him as a character for some reason or not being able to like him as much.

As a gay guy who has loved video games his whole life where constantly, constantly, having to play as a straight guy is just the norm and has never kept him from liking or enjoying the game. Never once have I thought "Well, I really like Uncharted, but I just can't with Nate and Elena because they're a straight couple."

Having to port over my Shepard's decisions from ME1 to ME2 to ME3 where I still like the cast even though I didn't get an option for a same sex romance until 3. To say nothing of all of the games I've played where that's just not in the cards or if it is, it's usually for female characters.

This hilarious double standard where gay gamers just get to deal with playing games with characters that don't represent them as the norm but then god forbid a character comes out in his lore and backstory and suddenly these straight snowflakes can't clutch their pearls fast enough and cry about what's being taken from them.

    Give me a break.

    Grow up.

  • Plague needs her own chase music.

  • The hot takes here could keep you warm through winter. I enjoy reading some of the most absolutely insane and out of touch opinions I've ever seen regarding Dead by Daylight.

  • The new map is great but I'm sure it's frustrating for people who need pallets to loop and can't think about how to properly use the houses. The street is wide so the generators on both sides of the street are spread out. Granted I've had some pretty hilarious spawns where all but one generator is on one side of the road but most of the time it's pretty evenly split making it easier for survivors if they say spread out.

The window vaults in the houses are great. Windows are so much more fun to play around than pallets, because they are always there.

Not to mention all the houses have some places where survivors can just straight up disappear into the shadows and hide. I didn't even know there was a locker in the second floor room with the hook in the strode house until I was walking through there and saw the open prompt pop up.

  • My last match as a Legion I had a couple of really smart survivors who would take protection hits for others or body block me in doorways after I'd hit them and they still had deep wound to stop chain hits. Really threw a wrench into my chain frenzies that match.

  • I had a game as Nemesis the other day where I hooked a Leon at the start of the match and they left him on the hook until he was almost dead. Literally 90% of the way through Phase 2 before he got an unhook, and the worst thing is, while I was chasing another survivor, no one else was doing generators.

I put someone else on a hook, down another person who instantly DC'd, the person I put on the hook suicided, leaving just that Leon and a Dwight who was apparently hiding but still moving to avoid crows the entire match. So Leon and I walked around together looking for him and even blocked a doorway for me when we found him, so I threw Dwight on a hook and then let Leon have the hatch.

There's nothing wrong with Julie's Mix Tape. If you pallet slam a Legion in Frenzy, you still break his chain combo, he won't be able to down you after that, he'll just be able to jump the pallet and hit you, which is something most Legions are going to do anyway because they'll wait for the pallet drop instead of running face first into it without a care.

Even if you might be biased i understand that you might like the anticipation of a character that represents not only your sexuality but your story around it.

This is in essence what i'm refeering to, there might be people out there that were not Gay that could relate to David until this point aswell.

    Attachment to the fictional character.

Well, I'm not attached. I just appreciate their efforts here and I don't have a problem with David's coming out as it were. I actually main Felix as a survivor because my boyfriend thinks I look like him.

Mending's annoying but legion is the only killer apart from nurse who can vault a pallet and instadown you just like that. I think that's a little more of an issue right now

So in this scenario Legion has already hit all four survivors once and is chasing someone for their 5th hit, and this survivor vaults a pallet that has already been dropped, or threw a pallet against Legion early and did not knock him out of Feral Frenzy.

This isn't an issue. If a Legion manages to hit all four of you, and is right behind the last person hit they can down you. That's not a problem.

  • Shaking my head and you people who want Corrupt Intervention just as a thing that always happens when a match starts. That's just so stupid I can't even.

  • @CORENdot said:

Out of curiosity, who thinks that was necessary or better to reveal David sexuality over creating a new character?

As a gay guy I think it was great. David is one of the original survivors and a pretty popular one at that. I think its much better than making a survivor just for them to be "the gay one" where you can brush off their entire backstory and existence as you reduce it down to them being the "token gay".

This also is not a "retcon" of David's lore. It can only be a retcon if we have a documented history of every thing that happened to him in his life and they took out a portion and replaced it with something else. That's not what happened. We're learning more about him that we didn't know before.

A lot of gay men growing up wind up with girlfriends for some reason or another throughout their life, I had them to back when I was in high school and freshman year in college while still trying to figure myself out. All it does it make him feel more real and relatable to me. Thank you Behaviour.

  • No? W-why would this be considered toxic at all? I just do not understand. If the generator is almost done, staying on it to finish it at the last second is always the best choice.

  • Most of the time its not even worth it. If people are so spread out that you're taking almost 20 seconds per hit then you've wasted your time and you'd have been better off just cancelling FF and downing someone.

  • I don't like Dead Hard because I see so few survivors actually use it properly. Most of the time they just sprint ahead of me in a straight line and I just wait it out and then hit them right after. I feel like so many people bring it because they think they are "supposed" to bring it, or that its automatically going to be the best thing *for them* in every situation even when they don't know how to use it to even most of its full potential.

It's a detriment to the game when there are so many interesting survivor perks that you can combine to together for different builds but everyone just uses these same few because they are supposedly the best. Dead Hards are rarely a problem for me, and if I down someone I previously hooked that I haven't seen do anything else then I just leave them on the ground for a bit. There, you now have two dead perk slots, way to go.

  • All it takes is people spreading out and its very hard for Legion to get the 5 hits he needs to down someone in Frenzy. In most cases its not even worth staying in Frenzy that long and trying for it and you're better off cancelling the power and downing someone with a regular attack.

Not to mention as soon as one person is on a hook or out of the game with 3 survivors left a Legion would have to hit all three, and then circle back around and find one of them that had already mended and be able to hit them for the 4th hit to even proc the chance to down someone.

  • Borrowed Time should absolutely be just automatic for any survivor being unhooked. If you're fresh off the hook you should get a little freebie deflection from being hit again immediately that you need to mend from.

I say this as an Iri 1 Killer Main with over 1k hours in the game.

I don't think any killer perks need to be made automatic. I would say the Bloodpoint aspect of BBQ but that just related to DBD's larger problem of insufficient Blood Points all around, there are too many characters and perks to be grinding things out. The game should be about picking your perks and items and switching things up and actually playing the builds you want, not grinding forever just to unlock things and getting tired/bored before you ever get to play with the setup you have in your mind.

  • Not at all. It’s just that their add ons are so much fun now that it just feels bad to not have your favorite combo available.

I have caught so many people with mending+4 and oblivious on hit.

smack them, run away, double back and down.

  • I imagine this is what the wiggle mechanic is going to be changed to.

  • It keeps Nemesis from being able to level up his Power.

    Oh and you occasionally cough.

  • When a match starts you want to find the zombies and get contaminated as soon as possible.

Since Nemesis doesn’t gain toward Mutation levels when hitting a contaminated survivor this keeps him from ranking up unless he goes out of his way to kill his own zombies over and over to rank up.

Which is like 6 or so for level 2 and 15-16 for level 3.

You want to keep Nemesis at rank 1 for as long as possible. And since there is no actual downside to being contaminated this works out.
