Personally I think Nurse will always be busted because she acts as a trump card whenever any pay to play claims surface. It's a particularly weak one given how transactions work within DBD, but I think it will always exist. As far as the others go, who knows honestly.
-
The hatch should be balanced for bottlenecked trials, not as a last ditch effort (especially when it's particularly weak on that front as is). Additionally 2025 was supposed to bring us some changes to make this scenario less likely, but that is clearly not a concern for BHVR. Unfortunately, Survivors are expected to lose more, do less, and face harsher consequences for their failures. All we can really do at this point is ask for more "legal" chances to forfeit via Abandon.
-
It's not "people" min-maxing it for me, it's BHVR. Their attitude for the last 6 years has been geared toward making the game more attractive to one side and using comp tools in a half-hearted way. One big one is that the game wants you to respect MMR without even knowing what it is or even if it's doing much of anything at all. Rounds of nerfs and neglected balancing have left us in a state where nothing is good unless you make your own fun, which is a sentiment one only expresses when playing bad games.

no mither is a bad perk. trading your life for smth you would have when you're healthy. you're basically trading your whole survival and your second HIT for 35% downed revive speed which is crazy. most of the time you WONT survive games. atleast not as much as with a second hit
It's always been the way that it is. I don't see the need to change it, especially when it synergizes with other perks. We're better off looking at perks that are too weak to be attractive versus niche perks that are serving their purpose.
-
Nemesis' issue has always been how long it takes to build up his power and how unsatisfying it feels. The zombies were never great and more of them acts too strongly as a natural slowdown against all Survivor objectives. However, it's a lot easier to spawn more than it is to rework his power, so we get what we get I guess.
-
I love No Mither. It needed the 100% muffled sounds buff for years now. All that's left is to add a special condition so that it doesn't spawn blood orbs or only does so in the dying state. It's meant to be a niche perk that most don't run.
I agree that many others need help though. Calm Spirit's "buff" from 6.1.0 harmed the perk for no reason and it's been unattractive ever since. The Distortion and Wake Up nerfs really need to be looked at, since I personally believe the "rat" excuse was just to cover the fact that the former harmed aura reading for Killer and the latter shortened end game, again, for Killer. Many, many recent perks deserve a second look because the conditions are too specific to trigger such small rewards.

No need to deffend bully squads they know what are they doing, play dirty and expect your opponent to be nice is totaly out of mind.
They went in with sabbo and flashlight planning to bully the killer and he predicted it and equiped lightborn and sluged to counter theirs gear, you how i call it
I'm not defending bully squads, but it's not as if bully squads dominate the game. They waste resources and go down pretty quickly against anyone worth their salt.
-
I used to pick at least one unique perk per Survivor and make a build around them. That was a lot of fun. But the game has devolved into such a boring state where you constantly have to think about gens and camping/tunneling/slugging so there's less play with the perks. Plus all the new perks are dull or just plain useless so that makes it harder.
2v8 shows this idea is still possible, but implementing it retroactively would be tricky.
-
I don't foresee lobby dodging going any time soon because it would affect Killer more than Survivor. While it might be less common for them to do it in 2v8 because of queue times, it's constant in 1v4.
Also 1800 posts woooo 🎉
-
I was saying yesterday that Bubba is one of the most problematic elements of the game. He's always been a camper and he's able to chew through all anti-tunneling measures with ease. Doctor is an issue as well, but only because of how insanity and his charges synergize with other perks. He can effectively shut down all interactions if done right.
The question isn't one of individual Killer balance, however. It's whether this is what they intend the game to be or not—flaccid attempts at giving Survivors a chance while making sure Killer always has the ability to force at least one kill. Nerfing/buffing/reworking any one Killer won't change how busted the next one will be.

Mabe it can be new accounts dedicated for content by bullying newer or less experienced killers (no offence to skeleton Idk how much hours he has) or just new characters but thats strange for bully squad even no perks like I would get 3 for adept but no perks and hoping to destroy the killer with looping and flashlight like common.
I know some ttvs doing this or tik tok content creators for clips and mostly they arent alone but full swf in that game because the true power in bully squad is unlocked by being in swf with coms which saves you using info perks for getting in time for saves or dennying hooks.
Shame to people hating lightborn that perks is only good in one thing and thats just that killer cant be blinded but the counter is if survivors arent stupid enough that it actualy forces them on gens which is the thing that wins games, so partly meme perk with simular excetution like iron will (just doing one thing and is good at it) but way way less powerfull only unless these survivors wont notice it (Idk how when its so obvious) and try for blinds and saves and they had sabbo on top like mission failed so move on but hard to expect fair behaviour from people with bullying tendencies.
The cherry on top is how this post is getting downvoted by bully squad memembers.
Thankfully for Killer, they'll be handed some consolation trials to make up for the loss. Not so for Survivor.
-
That's a whole lot of stuff to be doing in one trial that you supposedly never do.
-
BHVR had a plan for this last year and completely abandoned it, which to me says that they prefer it to be the way that it currently is. I agree that it's terrible game balance, but there isn't much that can be done if they insist on keeping it this way.
-
When they implemented it, it made sense. But now the game is so skewed in Killer's favor while the servers continue to get more and more unstable, meaning it's easy to get hits off without much effort. I believe that supports the goal BHVR has for DBD, but it's way out of touch as usual.

Thats one thing i love about the dbd forrums the community managers and devs dont care about favorites.
Yeah, they don't care about anyone equally. 😎
-
My issue with it isn't the size but how it's segmented between the wings and the main hall. It's far too easy for the Killers to patrol one of them and shut it down entirely.
-
I wouldn't call it a bad thing, but more than anything it's highlighting the way that a lot of us feel—the game is too bloated and there's too much you have to learn.

I disagree entirely, you sound jaded and burnt out and that's okay, at least that's how it comes across.
I love a lot of the games that have came out recently, the remakes have been a lot of fun and it's great to see a new generation of gamers discover the series.
when a series runs for like 30 years things are gonna feel different over time, Claire is still the selfless girlboss we've always had, Revelations 2 is just a hiccup along the line (mainly her interactions with Natalia). She still is herself in RE2make and in Death Island.
the old games havnt gone anywhere, they are still as awesome as ever, but I also love the recent games.I wouldn't say that. I think it's normal for fans to feel alienated after a big shift, but I was actually all on board when others had abandoned the franchise.
Post-RE6, Capcom pivoted in a dramatic fashion to try to pull in fresh meat. Not saying they shouldn't have, since they did the same with RE4. It's the way they did it that's the issue. It's very clear they don't just want to reinterpret the old games through a new lens like the Chronicles era, but to reboot the entire franchise. Not everyone disagrees with that and that's fine, but I do find it jarring to see characters acting strangely and dynamics shifted. It's a bit like we're back in the 90s again where anything goes, which again is pretty jarring after they tightened everything up post-4. So in that sense, I guess I have outgrown the franchise. I expect more and it's just not there.
That last point is patently untrue. For instance, look at how often Outbreak has been referenced since 7. Where can you play Outbreak? Where can you learn about Outbreak? RE:Verse gave Ada her Death's Door outfit. Which storefront can I buy Umbrella Chronicles from and give it a playthrough? It was like pulling teeth just to get the PC ports of the first 3 games on GOG because Capcom believes the remakes suffice. And again, that's part of the problem.

They do, might take them years though. I remember back in the day grabs walking stick I along with so many others were asking about a health chapter, and we sort of got that?
Same for:
- Colour blindness settings
- Optimizing the bloodweb
- Changing the BP cap from 1mil to 5
And so on. So they do... but maybe the next generation will be here to witness what we're asking for today 😂 /lhj
I can't even call it a health chapter since 90% of it was rolled back. 😭

Legion is just boring by design. It's hard to do anything with them that doesn't suck to play against.
-
We always hear about how impossible the game is for Killer while they continue to be soft-balled for years now. At this point it really is a problem with the mindset of Killer and not the role itself. The more effort that's put into pleasing that mindset, the more and more the game suffers.

13 days ago I reported a cosmetic bug on the new bug reporting website. 7 days ago I bumped it, asking why there's no progress on it. It still has no progress on it right now. 13 days with no progress, and when I'd report a bug on this forum, within few or several hours the status would change to "under review" or "acknowledged".
https://app.betahub.io/projects/pr-5642738318/issues/1237
The bug reporting system seems to be worse than before.
It's always been pretty inconsistent for me. The shirt/waist joints always got fixed pretty quickly, which I will give BHVR credit for. But others were always a gamble and that hasn't changed. That Baermar issue I mentioned has been a problem since June last year and it's still unfixed, which is concerning because you have to pay real money for him and all of his cosmetics.
The new site should theoretically be an improvement, but the last time I checked they're in the several hundreds and many reports haven't been assigned to anyone at all even if they're high priority.

the bots sometimes do gens while the killer ignores the bots completely
The worst part is that 9 times out of 10, they will prioritize eating resources and escaping. 😭

@Mandy said:
What makes it hard when perks / powers interact, is that it limits both perk and powers in the design process - we'd have to imagine every perk working with every power to ensure it was still at a playable state, and that's a lot of perks that have to work with killer powers - this is also not something new, we've seen it with Bamboozle and Legion for example, where the window block does not work with that part of the perk when Legion is vaulting in power.
Call me crazy, but that might be a sign that it's time to go back to the drawing board with how many perks and powers are released at a time.
-
Their focus is entirely on new chapters, it seems. The bug reports are already too backed up to address fully and if I'm not mistaken Mandy said the ST chapter was only going to focus on itself. At least 2v8 got some changes, but where will we be once it's gone again?

Another issue with the current MMR system is that it makes the endgame boring.
In the current system, survivors have zero reason to risk going for a save, since according to the MMR system, the only thing that counts as a win is you personally escaping. You could make a big play like rescuing your other 3 team-mates from the basement, sacrificing yourself so all 3 of them could escape, but according to the MMR system, you suck at the game if you do that.
In the current MMR system, you have zero reason to not just open the gates and leave as soon as possible, screw your team-mates.
For sure. Once it's down to the last gen, the game pretty much dies anyway. Too easy to bottleneck and not enough incentives to play altruistically. It's something that wasn't a problem years ago.
-
Lunar New Year and the Masquerade aren't happening anymore. Lights Out, I'm not sure about. Maybe for Halloween.

Yeah I've always found it baffling that Survivors are scored individually and not as a team.
Like if I do a huge amount of gen progress or lead the Killer on long chases, but end up dying while all 3 other Survivors escape, that shouldn't be a loss for me! All my team-mates got out and the Killer lost hard!100%. If you're meant to work together as a team and feel part of a team, you should share more benefits. You loop the Killer long enough for me to pop the gen, so I get points for your success and you gets points for mine. If they wanted to they could limit it to escapes, but I like the idea of everything being rewarded to avoid that constant feeling of "I queued up and I have nothing to show for it because I got tunneled out immediately".
I remember the reason for not doing that in the past was some BS about fairness, but it's truly not that deep. For a largely casual game, there's no reason to be so stringent about it.

Good to know that despite nothing of Project Health delivered after a year, cheaters running more rampant than ever, bugs that existed before it still there with even more added, multiple maps massively bugged for going on three months, no updates for either bricked and bugged as ######### killers, as well as the grossly overpowered ones that are warping the entire game around them, and all camping, tunnelling, and slugging 'improvements' shelved with nothing having been done at all, all it takes is a new map and survivor for everybody to start celebrating.
But at least now survivors are a different color aura than gens. Maybe by this time next year, Blast Mined gens will be a different color from Trail of Torment gens.
It's the cycle. Nobody expects anything so anything even remotely positive is nice to see.
-
Something else I was talking to some friends about that would be great is a better scoring system. One that provides better incentives for being part of the team. The game overall expects Survivor to die more often than not, which is its own can of worms, but death should not equal loss. I think the team should get scored as a team. Say you get 1/2 the points for every objective completed that you're not involved with and everyone gets a big bonus if even one player makes it out/one player is killed (for Killer obvs).
I don't have high hopes they'd do something like that for a number of reasons (namely ego), but I do think it would improve morale quite a bit.

I'd agree but the empathy isn't being extended both ways. Survivors can leave/abandon freely without all being slugged. No one is advocating taking that option away from them and saying 'Keep trying! Don't give up!'
It's simply not reasonable to apply that standard to one side and not the other. This is how I feel. The current state of the game is very bitter and the Surrender option hasn't helped that at all. But if it's going to be there, it should apply equally to all players. We can surrender when we're the last ones standing, so I don't think it's the end of the world for Killer to surrender when the gates open. My only request is that it doesn't end the trial immediately because BHVR made the brilliant decision to make DCs deny Adepts.
-
The game is full of stuff like this that's really unhealthy and they move at a snail's pace to address any of it. And even then the core issues always remain. Anti-tunnel could've been a gateway to addressing issues like this, but we saw how that went down. Basically just count your losses.
-
It's simple. It typically starts with the company making a character they know will be popular and prioritizing that character at all costs. Look at Feng for instance when she used to get equal participation cosmetics at every turn. Even if other characters are popular, they're less likely to be prioritized over the favorite, internally and externally. Then that justifies keeping things the same.
To be fair, BHVR isn't the worst example I've seen of this by far. I've seen other companies be really flippant about it. But they're not very great about it either. I don't think players suddenly decided to stop playing Feng for instance—I think Sable just became the new golden child.

-
I don't think they ever will to be honest. 2v8 was meant to be the testing ground for that and we're gonna hit that 2 year mark before we know it. They could have at least added Trapper, Wraith, and Billy to customs but there's no sign of that happening either. Who knows, maybe we'll get a surprise update about it. But after 2025, I'm really not holding my breath on anything.
-
Surveys haven't been reliable for years now, if ever at all. There were some pretty notable ones in the past that referenced things the community was very vocal about across multiple platforms and yet somehow the results did not reflect that and instead skewed in BHVR's direction (typically things that generated more money or were easier to implement). Beyond that, BHVR is known to scrap things on a whim depending on how loud the feedback is, but even that is inconsistent at best. So at the end of the day, they're going to do whatever they're going to do regardless of any survey.

Been playing him the whole time so don't know what you mean by "hasn't been playable". You might need a definition of non-playable and only bugs I find about him is that he sometimes has Aestri's voice lines. That does not make him unplayable.
"Sometimes" as in you literally cannot play him without turning into Aestri. 😵 But OK.

I have a better experience with Billy then with Oni probably because his instadown has reasonable limits you can actually dodge his saw cause he has turnrate limits unlike oni that can hit you from any angle
That's fair. But it's also difficult when you have to contend with dodging him and Oni on your tail or extra zombies blocking the path. A lot of downs feel like there's very little counterplay which gets old fast.

No one is perfect but survivors in 2v8 have way more room to missplay and get back and win like they dont need to touch gens for some time and get mauled by killers from the start but than the comeback mechanic (2,5% faster gen repair speed) kicks in and they can do many gens fast and still win or draw or classes like medic in teaming or escapist have abilities that counter hard almost all killers (two medics can use their ability to heal one health state of all survivors that are around them and in chase they can keep being on feet more longer against killers that cant instadown like oni or billy) or escapist can on single press of button just give everyone sprintburst and doge every attack if they run well (some killers dashes or hartchets are faster but they have limiteed turn rate so even if they are faster survivor with high but still slower speed can easily doge them).
Survivors now have another "second chance" thing the tonics that just remove killers progress and the blue tonics are just fast heal so survivor is just easier here with the all comeback mechanics like if you do all gens and dont go down in 5 seconds you will stomp wast majority of killer teams and even if you go down fast than touch gens the comeback bonus kicks in and gens will just go fast the same.
Disagree.

Yes it is, and nemesis has a power that is extremely weak in 2v8 because you have to hit survivors 3 times and they can cleanse it and there are a ton of chests.
The slowdown it provides is part of the power. Again, how is this any different than any other killer with an alternative objective that is designed to slow the game down? That is literally the purpose of the zombies in normal mode is to slow the game down slightly.
His power was always the problem, not the zombies. The zombies have never been good for the game.
