So I had finally my first squad trying that on me as Oni and it wasnt that bad as ppl say.
They did the classic sluff, bless the totem at the library and keep running up there when I chased them.
so tell me what the problem now is? You just slug them at the library up there and keep snuffing that totem, you camp their slugged bodys and blodyblock the stairs and they bleed out 100% or they jump down and then you keep slugging them (dont even need blood fury for that).
Yes the game takes a while and its boring, but its the same for the survivors, just as you are bored you keep slugging them and they can count the books at the bookshelfs while they wait for the bleed out.
I almost got even a 4k cuz they tried to pick everyone up but I even ######### up and they got a 2 man escape which is totally fine imo.
Idk why ppl act like its the end of the world, just grow up and play around it lol, its always the same, ppl are too lazy to adapt and instead just cry everywhere.
*edit: I get every game atleast 1 boil over on average and I NEVER had the situation where they wiggled of because of that perk, it was mainly because of ppl taking a hit on the hook which can obviously happen without the perk aswell.
Standing there and watch how someone bleeds out over 4 minutes sounds like peak quality entertainment. /S
But if you don´t see an issue with that, i´ll keep using that perk.

If 4 survivors are trying to annoy the killer with Boil Over/Exponential/Unbreakable/Tenacity/Power Struggle/Flip Flop/Breakout/No Mither and ruin the killer's match experience with map offerings,if they get slugged and let bleed out for 4 minutes,its their own fault.
You do wrong,you get wronged too,its fair.
Unless they have Soulguard and can get up an infinite amount of times.

The devs could introduce a phobia mode/option. Where, when you get matched against a Clown, for example, you see something completely different that doesn´t look like a clown. It would have be some kind of generic skin that gives you still the ability to identify what power said killer has.
Other games have something like this for aracnophobia. Where they replace the spiders with the skins of other mobs.
A part from that, i don´t see a "ban" feature for excluding playing against certain killers, simply because people would abuse this to avoid getting matched against strong killers.

Just tested it out on RPD.
Holy #########. You can actually take the game hostage for as long as you want. I have no idea how it got through the PTB.
I know that the Mods said they are continuing to monitor the situation, but it actually needs to be killswitched until they fix it.
It's not even like the perk is objectively good. It's only going to be used by bully squads and people wanting to take others hostage. Reminds me of the Sabo meta or the Dribble meta. I understand we all have varying views on how the game should be balanced, but I hope we can all agree that this perk is a huge issue in design and a glaring issue with the PTB process.
Fun fact: i reported the RCPD issue back in september. Maybe it gets solved now. But i´m not optimistic, as people have already told me that the kill switch only gets used on broken things and that this is working as intended.

My queues are super quick but thanks for the concern ❤️
Lucky you.
Today was the first time in a long time that my survivor queue during the morning wasn't instant, but a 30 second queue. At the middle of the day, it reached 2 minutes.
Now I don't want to click ready during prime time. Cause then it's usually 5-10 minutes.
But if your queue is super quick, then I'm happy for you 😊
-
Actually you could make it quite far by dribbling a survivor. That is, before the devs nerfed dribbling.
Now, comparing Boil over to old DS would position Boil over in a stronger position, depending on the map. Since unlike DS it can be used multiple times

Kill Switch is only used in cases of severe gamebreaking bugs so it's unlikely, unless they count the fact that any drop as killer rn counts as a free 25% wiggle as a bug and disable it likewise.
Well, then everything is fine i guess.
Survivors having unusual long queues just seems to be something we´ll have to live with during the event.

It is for me.
Killer is not any different at night 0-1min except in the morning when I can't actually find a killer game at all.
I know it doesn't fit the narrative that no one plays killer and that is the only reason you replied to me. We all know how you think.
I will leave it at that since I really dislike talking to you. No offence.
Instant is when you click ready and you instantly get pulled into a lobby.
Waiting 30 seconds or 1 minute isn´t instant. At least not for me. I doubt that you know how i think, since you don´t know me at all. Just because i don´t have the usual survivor main mindset of "everything killers do is evil" doesn´t mean that i´m not a survivor main.
So please don´t try to make this a "killer vs survivor" thingy.

0-1min.
Unless you were sitting next to me and saw different.
0-1 min isn´t instant ;)

Nope. Playing atm (eu) and it is instant like usual during the day for surv.
Actually no. My survivor queue has been starting at 30 seconds this morning and is currently around 2 minutes for me.

I do not have queue times as a killer. At night, anyways. I do not bother during the day.
You can try killer during the day.
Killer becomes instant around 4-5PM
Survivor is only instant in the morning for me. Starting from the middle of the day there slowly starts to increase the queue of a few seconds which ends at prime time with 10+ minutes.

It looks like there are groups running these plus either Exponential or No Mither and just sitting in the Library/Main Building to grief people with Boil Over, as they are literally unhookable.
Now is the moment to use the famous kill switch.
Before this event turns into a second Howling Grounds.

Killer role is fine. Can camp, tunnel, and slug for free - and even use perks to enhance these playstyles. Map design may be another issue, but killers be having a field day in the current state of the game - given the right map.
But is it fun for them?
-
@GoshJosh said:
Nothing. Just because solo queue survivor becomes more bearable doesn’t mean it makes the killer role any worse.
So making killer role bearable is off the table?
-
If you focus on gens only then all 5 gens are done in less than 5 minutes. Hell, most of my solo survivor matches go like 2-3 gens are completed by the time reaches the first hook. Now the only question is, if we are about to 3 gen us or not. If not, then the killer gets a total of 2-4 hooks by the time the gates are powered.
Streamers having a lower escape rate might come, because they have to "entertain" their viewers and just hugging gens and escape is boring af.

A mankini isn't natural. It's the Devil's influence on the fashion industry, and there is no beauty in that!

I hardly see much slugging though.
That might have something to do with the current gen speed situation.
A killer who loses 3 gens on the first hook isn't motivated to leave that hook.

I don't think basekit BT was confirmed, it was just confirmed that there was no basekit DS at the moment. And BT is a very ineffectual perk, so that wouldn't fix much. The facecamping fix, we'll have to see what they've come up with, but I think the devs went on record to say they aren't doing anything about camping as a whole, just facecamping. And Slugging remains unaddressed.
Pretty sure the devs are content to leave those strategies in.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2764542#Comment_2764542
Oh no, removing those strats would be a huge upset to balance, but as long as killers can employ those tactics, there's no point in balancing around killers that don't use them. Removing them would put the game in a position where it could be balanced, is the point.
Think of it as a similar issue to the solo/swiffer divide, but just the killer variant: The clean/dirty divide.
He repeated it twice, that they have no plans on making DS basekit. While making BT basekit isn´t mentioned specifically, it really looks odd, to say the least.
Slugging was "solved" with the last chapter. Directly by Exponential but also indirectly by Pentimento and Plaything, which will both trigger Soulguard.

Good point, I always just assume most killer mains write it off as boring, or that you are an awful human being, etc. However, if high mmr killers are committed to the lifestyle, I certainly suspect the kill rates would be respectable. Especially from killers who actually know what they are doing when it comes to playing dirty. No offense to Otz or whatever, but you know, getting all emotional while playing and the "wait and see" attitude really fetter your ability to properly play in an optimal fashion. I am sure he is capable of it, but he just despises doing it which makes it a tad sloppy, in my opinion.
I know I am biased, but I genuinely do not believe removing these playstyles would result in balance. I know people don't want to hear it, but I am nothing special. Survivors literally just throw games for me. Not going to lie. It is the cold hard truth. If I couldn't force them to do that, the competent survivors would eviscerate me. But this is all hypothetical, I suppose we will never truly know!
But they are removing those playstyles. Basekit BT is on the horizon and also something against face camping.
-
@Firellius said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2764475#Comment_2764475
But if they do, their kill rate does go over an average of 3, doesn't it?
Considering the rank difference between kill rates under the emblem system was quite considerable, I wouldn't be too surprised if high MMR actually showed higher kill rates. I know people seem convinced that the game is survivor sided, but there's never been any substantiation of that idea beyond the anecdotal or theoretical.
And even if 'playing like you do' is a requirement, that still impacts the overall balance. Only way you could argue for better balance for non-camping/tunnelling/slugging playstyles is if those playstyles were nerfed, and we already know the forums don't want that.
As far as i see it, the kill rates mean nothing. Because what does a 3 kill mean, when the killer got 3 hooks during the whole match? That he´s OP and needs a nerf?
-
@ThiccBudhha said:

Soul guard is so underrated... It is actually the main reason I run iron grasp/agitation. I respect it THAT much. But yeah, I get why people dodge them. I just don't bother because of what OP said, you just backfill into another one and I do not have the patience for that myself. I came from Overwatch to dodge long queues, I am basically allergic to them to the point where I didn't even want to do my survivor daily at all into being a survivor main during the day. I am that committed to the cause. I hate survivor mains with ever fiber of my being and even I have become one... I have no morals.
Most of the time, i just click ready and tab out to do something else. Only tabbing in once the match started. So i don´t really care who i face or what they have equipped.
But some streamers just want to harvest salt.

@ThiccBudhha said:

Either that or the TTVs are sus. It is not unheard of. Most of the ones I play against are so bad, bro. Meta builds on comms or not. Maybe you should just give them a chance? They might just surprise you. 😉
Played against a SWF streamer who brought RCPD + hook offering. 2 of them always ran to the same spot, knowing that I won't reach a hook from there. Slugging did nothing, because they both had Soulguard. One player disconnected and the only solo in the match was doing 4 gens alone. Because those 2 would never move away from that area.
I ended up tabbing out and watching the dev stream until this was over.
Later I searched the VoD of the streamer and he was making fun of it. Whole chat turned against him.
Do people really wonder why killers dodge TTVs?

Yes and they are right too. Would be very strange if a hook matter more than kills for a killer.
So a Bubba who face camps his first down and ends up with 1 kill is more skilled than a killer who got 8 hooks but no kill?
-
@Crowman said:
It just seems like they really just want to cater towards survivors and alienate killers. Like I don't think that is their intention (at least I hope), but if killers keep seeing everything they have getting nerfed with no compensations anywhere, then like why would killers want to play?
Not to mention they want to give solo survivors more info to bridge the gap between solo and swf. Which is fine, but I have no hope killers will see any buffs to help them out.
Well survivor queues have been increasing, while killer queues have been getting shorter and shorter during the day (instant at night).

This is also true (ditto Cenobite): it's very difficult to make any accurate balancing decisions when your sample size is likely so small.
Really quite concerned about this, as it feels like it's going to disproportionally punish rarely played killers without accounting for why they are so rarely played.
They are obviously played so little, because people don´t feel good playing such a OP killer.

Genius, truly.
Isn´t that the whole point of the Sweat meta SBMMR has become? Who sweats the most and plays in the most unfun way will win. Thats a conclusion Otz came to.

Yes, I saw the Stream as well, and they pretty much put to bed a lot of my assumptions and complaints about SBMM being the cause for the player dropout rate, and it definitely is better than the old "Victory Cube", however, what irritated me the most was their response to this question:
@Madjura - "What is the Killer/Survivor distribution?"
Internally, this is known as the "Role Ratio"- the ratio between killers and survivors. In a perfect world, this should be 4:1, but the truth is that this fluctuates throughout the day quite often. Time of day, reigon, platform, day of the week, and seasonally all are important factors. So no specific ratio can be given, because by the time Patrick has finished talking (and I've finished writing, and you've read it) it will be wrong.
This is an excerpt from @GoodBoyKaru 's Summary of the stream, with the answer they roughly gave for it. The Problem I have with this "Sweeping it under the rug" style answer is that they treated it as if they were going to check it for the day/hour of the stream, and completely ignored the possibility of presenting us with a chart that shows the average "role ratio" per month for the past 3 or 6 months. That was something they very easily could have done, and is almost exactly what this whole post was aimed at getting ahold of, but I believe they purposely didn't do it because they don't want anyone seeing it, which adds more credence to the idea that Killers are in fact dropping out of the game more than survivors, especially over the past few months.
It was like they were covering up their Silence on the issue with a lame excuse for why it couldn't be done right then and there, while ignoring giving us what we wanted to know, and hoping we wouldn't notice or press the matter further. That really rubbed me the wrong way.
Yep, that statement was pure "i gonna start talking about irrelevant stuff in the hope you forgot what the question was, by the time i finished talking"
Does the playerbase vary based on the time of the day? Sure! Just like it varies on every single game or activity out there. What really matters are the stats during prime time.

The SBMMR isn´t bad. It just hasn´t anything to do with skill.
So they might just rename it to KEBMMR (Kill/Escape Based Matchmaking).
Don´t blame the KEBMMR for poor balancing.

They are not unbalanced.
The devs care about fun. So thats all that matters in this regard.
If enough people complain about a certain killer not being fun to face, the devs will nuke him.
