but a survivor loses a hook state the second you put them on a hook? downing a survivor and getting them to hook is for killers what finding a gen and hitting skill checks until it pops is for survivors; camping them to second stage would be like if you could repair the same generator twice for extra credit. saying otherwise is just cope for people who want to justify lazy gameplay

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3509864#Comment_3509864

if a gen is at 90%, there is a possibility it gets kicked and regresses, possibly even back to zero. finishing the gen gets it to a stage where the progress cannot be regressed any further. for your comparison between "tunneling someone out of the game" and "finishing a gen that's nearly done" to be analogous, the progress on getting a survivor out of the game also needs to be reversible. therefore, either you think that survivor hook states can be reversed, or you are intentionally making a bad comparison in bad faith. since it is against the rules to assume other people are acting in bad faith on this forum (and since you do seem to be genuinely expressing an opinion), i am forced to conclude it's the first of those two; that you think hook states can be reversed.

The comparison is, that survivors will stay near to a almost finished gen and wait for the killer to leave, in order to finish it. If a killer does wait next to his objective, its called camping. One is seen as bad, while the other one is seen as normal progression of the match. But both sides would be doing their objective. When they could easily go for a different objective instead.

As long as people don´t understand, that both sides are doing their objective "efficiently". Nothing will change. A killer who has only 1 gen left will camp&tunnel in order to get a survivor out. Because if he doesn´t, the match is over for him. Just as survivors that have been all injured and only have 1 gen left to repair. They will not heal but focus on finishing that one gen. Before its over for them.

If survivors could gain back their hook stage and remove all the progression killer did, just like a 90% Gen can be regressed to 0. That would be a more fair comparison.

To Op, tunneling isnt fun for most survivors, but its fair. I mean, good luck to killers take the easier way to 4K then play against a much stronger team later and being stomped back, thats the most fair part, and the root of complaining about how hard the game is for killers discussion.

If killers could undo finished gens, then that would be a fair comparison to undoing hook stages.

Boiled down, hook stages and gens are nothing more than progression towards the end of the match. Each survivor has 3 stages and the killer has 5 stages (6 if you count the endgame).

Does it suck when a match is very short? Yes, and it sucks for both sides. You can´t solve the problem of tunneling as long as both sides do it equally.

You called Alch Ring is fine just because devs did not nerf it. Devs did not nerf MfT as well. So looks like you are good with their decisions.

The devs base their decisions on statistics. Doesn´t matter what i or you think about a perk or addon. They will change or not change it, only based on their data.

Just like it took years for them to nerf OoO, it will take them years to touch the Ring or MFT.

  • Both sides tunnel. Or would you ignore a gen thats at 90% and regressing to go for a fresh gen?

Blight has been out for nearly 3 years at this point. Alchemist's Ring shouldn't take this long to rework.

This just means that Alchemists Ring is fine and doesn´t need a nerf.

Yeah... I've never seen a community more dedicated to making the other side as miserable as possible

It doesn´t even have to be the other side.

  • On similar skill levels, survivors will always win. Its only when there is a skill difference, when killers stomp survivors.

  • Sorry, but i can´t take this thread serious. Survivor meta has barely changed over the last years.

true. but if they mean people using a vpn to play on other servers, you agree that's an issue right?

I´ve had this discussion a couple of times. Where people got accused of cheating/VPNing/lag switching etc. All because during the match, someone had a higher ping.

I´ve had teammates with a ping of 400, where everyone came from a different continent and no one used a VPN.

I´ve seen servers crash and in the next minutes people sended me profile messages about how i supposedly made them disconnect due to my high ping.

People are extremely fast when its about accusing someone, when something strange happens.

I think OP is referring to VPNers in Asia and Europe that use the VPN to get an advantage against US server players. But using a VPN to avoid the DDOSing is fine.

Its not clear what OP is refering to. It just sounds like everyone who is using a VPN, independently of the reason, is a cheater.

Which is a hard accusation to people that just want to play normally.

  • DbD has had a few issues in the past. Which resulted in people getting DDoSed.

    VPN protects against that.

  • Whats cheating about trying to protect your privacy?

  • Make them Co-op Killers

  • Just rework the hook phases in a way where they don´t allow for suicides.

  • My proposal to buff Ruin would be to give it a Regression bonus based on totems left in the game + revert the Undying changes. The less totems are around, the weaker it gets. That way, Undying Ruin would become instantly meta and camping&tunneling would be greatly reduced, while matches would take longer for both sides.

    2 birds with 1 shot.

  • There seem to be display errors. Either the bonus is far higher than the displayed 3k bloodpoints that gets shown independently if you have 2 or 5 BBQ offerings, or the bonus works when someone completes the gen while you are being chased and doesn´t show you when you get points.

Because i´ve gotten 45k bloodpoints from 5 offerings, when i completed only 3 of the 5 gens.

Why not come up with a different non-hex effect then? This thread was intended for rework ideas, but ppl apparently are very unoriginal.

The whole hex system needs a rework. Most hex perks are simply bad and their power is so weak, that there is no reason to keep them "high risk, high reward" perks. As there is no "high reward" for keeping them up. Best example, as you know, is Ruin.

  • @oreoslurpee said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/386540/ruin-rework-time

i mean, it doesn't really NEED a rework. all it needs is just to revert the nerf where it disables itself whenever 1 survivor dies. to me, thats a really weird thing to add to a perk that only needed to have its percentage nerfed as that was the real problem.

just revert that and keep the max regression at 100%, and it should be fine.

100% regression means that it takes 4 times as much to regress a gen, than a single survivor would require to repair.

In other words, it would be still trash.

Also a hex rarely survives longer than the death of the first survivor. So there would be no difference.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

This perk gets a lot hate. And if we trust complains, it's everywhere.

But guess what? MfT is not! It was so obvious tho, Lithe and SB are much petter perks and i am not surprised both perks has high pickrates.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/6Z434JH8I1X2/image.png

Well since its not on the list and "unpopular" there shouldn´t be a problem if the devs nerf it, right?

If you zoom in on the picture there's a trickster standing infront of the hook.

Ah thank you. I had a hard time identifying what ever was standing in front of the hook. I even wondered if what is hanging left of the hook was supposed to be the survivor. So if this was about a visual bug or something.

  • What seems to be the issue here?

  • BBQ offerings are extremely rare. I also can complete 6 lvl 50 bloodwebs, to only get a single BBQ offering.

Someone said in a different thread, that maybe they turned the rarity down, because people complained that there were still offerings left after the last event ended. But who knows.

Its definetly not encouraging to make bloodwebs, when the chances are so tiny.

  • @I_CAME said:

This goes beyond the event. Survivor bloodpoints are just bad in general.

Most of the time i get the same amount of bloodpoints as the killer or more. Maybe its the way you play.

  • @Ricardo170373 said:

I burn event offering and i just recieved bonus when i complete gens, i literally was tunnel and waste so much time looping and i made around 30k points , plus matchmaking 100% incentive i got around 71k points, the killer WITHOUT incentive made 92k points, really? this offereing should give you bonus for all cocktail gen done, doesnt matter if you complete or the others. Worst offering and event. i hope BHVR will change this offering or maybe she is bugged

Your math is wrong. The 100% bonus from incentives only applies to the base bloodpoints. Not the bonus points from events or event offerings.

So the lions share came from the "worthless" bbq offering.

Killer to get 92k point would have to get almost max hooks.

  • Lets see. In the last days i´ve seen threads asking to nerf: Nurse, Sadako, Wesker, Trapper, Wraith, Clown, Legion, Trickster, Artist, Bubba and Skull Merchant.

So uhm *checks notes* Twins and Demodoggo are pretty save to take.

Typically I could find a match within a minute, now it’s taking at LEAST 5-6 minutes to join a match. Then when I get into a match, I’m paired up with people who clearly aren’t even close to my rank. I’m iridescent 1 but I haven’t been playing as much because I’ll play for 3 hours and only get about 5-6 matches. Can we please fix this BHVR? I honestly am getting annoyed with spending money on a game I love to play, and barely being able to play enough matches.

Notice the 100% bonus points on the other side? Thats the reason your matchmaking takes so long. To many people playing your role. So just switch to the other role and you get instant lobbies.

  • @Dogma_loki said:

It's a 7 year old game with a lot of issues which sadly, the Devs don't really seem like acknowledging, much less making meaningful changes.

If you're a survivor main your whole experience is based on how nice/fair the killer you're playing against wants to play.

Solo queue has become nothing but sacrificial lambs for BHVR's precious killer mains and hitting whatever statistical % they are chasing to justify unpopular changes to the game.

Bad and illogical decision making is being made solely based on "power role" or "killer has to be scary" without any thought of long term repercussions or health of the game except for one side.

How many games in a row do people have to get utterly demolished before it is acceptable to speak out or be listened too? It took them 7 years to admit that yes, face camping is really un fun for anyone but the camper. Killer mains constantly parrot on the forums how hard tunneling and camping is just part of the game and survivors are supposed to just accept it. And like it apparently.

These are just the tip of the iceberg. I could go on and on about MMR and how bad map re-works/RNG have negatively impacted match quality, but I realize nothing is going to substantially change.

    Your statement is plain wrong.

It didn´t take the devs 7 years to admit that face camping is un fun. Face camping was dealt with pretty early with the introduction of swivel hooks. Before that, survivors couldn´t unhook from every direction and killers would simply stand in the position they hooked a survivor. Without moving and no one could unhook. But then people changed what face camping meant. Can´t blame the devs, when people constantly change the meaning of something.

Tunneling used to mean that the killer ignored everyone and just focused on 1 survivor. Now you see people complain about getting tunneled, when the killer hooked everyone once. So no, thats not the devs fault that people take the meaning of something bad and change it to match their view.

How do you balance the game, when people are pretty open about suiciding whenever they don´t like something, anything about the game?

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3503689#Comment_3503689

Do you remember when they refused nerf OoO cuz survivors who used it died most times.

That's BHVR and their amazing stats.

I don't know when they will realize they can't balance this game with looking stats because stats are not telling everything. And they can be manipulated so easily.

Survivors was killing themself on hook against Freddy because he was one of the most hated killers. And we know how this story ended.

Yes, i remember both things. It wasn´t the suicides that killed Freddy though, it were the disconnects on a free weekend right after Freddys release. Which also ended up bringing us dc penalties.

I also see survivors suicide on first hook against Nurse. So even with that, her kill rate is still at a place below a nerf reason to the devs. While the stats might not be perfect and are somewhat easy to manipulate. Fact is, that the game would be in a worse state, if the devs instantly nerfed things based solely on forum feedback.

  • @luvcraft said:

As a killer main, I get about 100k BP per match. I always have a tome challenge going, and can typically clear one in 1-2 matches, and the same for dailies. So I'm constantly hitting the BP cap, and when there's a big announcement about BP (like today's Prime Gaming announcement of 400k free BP) I couldn't care less.

Meanwhile, when I switch to survivor, I'm scratching my head at how little BP I get; survivor dailies are often "get chased for 120 seconds", which takes me 3-4 matches to finish, or "escape" which again happens maybe 1 out of 4 matches, and meanwhile the base BP I get for a match is WAY lower. Tome challenges also typically take me 3+ matches to complete. So I totally understand why survivor mains talk about being constantly starved for BP.

Why is this so disparate, though? Killers get WAY too much BP, and survivors get WAY too little.

I think its the way you play survivor. Most of the time i have the same amount or more bloodpoints than the killer as solo surv.

So maybe change the way you play?

    • Try to engage as often as possible with the killer and other survivors.
    • Healing yourself is a big no, no.
    • Be altruistic.
    • Do gens in coop.
    • Get chased.
  • Devs balance killers around kill rates. So the reason you don´t see her getting nerfed into oblivion is, that her kill rate isn´t particuarly high. Thats it, thats the whole reason.

If her kill rate would show that she is as deadly as people claim, than she would have gotten a hard nerf. But this simply isn´t reflected in the stats. Also, how many years did it take the devs to nerf DS? 5 or 6?

  • Got the same issue. Was already wondering if i had to restart the game, because i only got 1 offering in 6 bloodwebs.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Killers are alittle to oppressive rn also getting the same 3 killers over and over again doesn’t help

Wouldn´t that statement ask for killer buffs? To well, buff the other 31 killers we currently have in the game?

  • Ironically, the game is considered by the community at the same time a party game and a competitive game. Sometimes playing a party game gets boring for SWF, so they play competitive. Which in turn gets unfun for the killer who wants to play a party game and vice versa.

Best solution i could think off is to remove the lobby where the killer sees the survivors. Everyone selects a loadout (and party) in the main menu and then the next thing you see is that the match starts. MMR could give the addons a point value, size of the SWF a point value and compare it to the loadout of the killers point value. So only sweaty competitive killers with red or purple addons get matched against sweaty competitive SWF with red and purple addons. While the more chill players get matched against each other.

    Yes.

I mean, genuinely, how could you be an experienced killer player if you haven't even had the chance to BUY all the Killers, let alone master them.

Like you said, somethings gotta change. It's only gonna get worse.

    Or test them.

Spend 210 matches to buy a killer you end up hating.

We need the offerings back, that allowed to test a killer. We need a daily rotation of the shrine of secrets (or replace the shrine with something else). We need ways to incentivize new players in trying the game. Not scare them away when they see the amount of killers/perks they need to unlock.

  • @Pulsar said:

Indeed, I've brought this up in the past.

Every level is about 300 Shards. To gain a level, it takes about 7 games.

    9000 Shards / 300 Shards Per Level = 30 levels

    30 Levels * 7 Games Per Level = 210 games for a single character.

I seem to remember PC doesn't get Huntress, Hag, Doctor or Nurse for free.

So, if you play on PC you'd need about 8000 games to unlock everyone.

    210 Games Per Level * 38 Unlockable Shard Characters = 7980 Games

    For Console:

    210 Games Per Level * 30 Unlockable Shard Characters = 6500 Games

So, on Console where there are less characters we'll do the math first.

6500 Games * 13 minutes (Average Trial Time) = 84500 Minutes Of Gameplay.

    84,500 Minutes / 60 Minutes Per Hour = 1408 Hours of Gameplay

    For PC:

7980 Games * 13 minutes (Average Trial Time) = 103,740 Minutes of Gameplay

    103,740 Minutes / 60 Minutes Per Hour = 1729 Hours of Gameplay

So, yeah, Shard gain is rough and it's not realistic anymore. It was fine when there were 12 Killers, but we've got too many now. You are forced to fork over hundreds of dollars in DLC costs.

Ahh... thats why people say all the time that <500 hours is still newbie players and that the game starts at around 1500 hours. When you finally have played enough to unlock everything.

So motivating for new players! /s

For real, something needs to change. I wouldn´t start this grind as a new player and i doubt others would feel motivated to.

Just cause those perks occur more frequently doesn't make them as strong. For the most part those are perks I would assume solo survivors would be using (Fogwise and Alert) since they cannot communicate killer position to their teammates unlike SWFs. That by itself makes it a lot weaker on the grand scheme of things. Lethal persuer is stronger the more aura reading you bring as long as you have skill to and a good killer to take advantage of it. Injuring 2 people who are doing their first gen and forcing out the others who are doing the gen closest to that one is a lot of slowdown for the killer and saves them a lot of time in not wondering around etc. It's more common to spawn in 2s or 3s than it is for everyone to spawn alone next to e gen (mind you gens on the same side of the map for the most part). More often than not you displace 2-3 at the same time rather than just 1. And I'm gonna assume that even if you get the worst case scenario, if you know anything about the game you can choose your most advantageous survivor (say someone who is working on a 3-gen or something).

This is quite a multipurpose perk that does not really a downside (the only downside being only bringing Lethal Pursuer with no other aura reading perk). People are just really slow to adapt to good perks and LP has been good ever since it got buffed, it's simply that back then people run 2-3 slowdown/regression perks and LP requires you to be more active than chill back and wait for the game to reach a point where it's unlosable against majority of the teams.

I still don´t see the issue here. As you said, people are usually complaining about slowdown perks. This isn´t one of them. Anything that isn´t a slowdown perk is a good change. More variety is always good.

In order to get any benefit from LP you need to dedicate the whole build to it.

  • @JustAnotherNewbie said:

Isn't your first chase like the most important one? And if it wasn't as strong as you claim killers like Nurse and Blight wouldn't run it but they do. It also gives you a great opportunity to disturb gens being work by 2+ people at the start of the game which is great value.

I mean, at the first chase, all pallets are up. So its bound to be the longest one. Disturbing a gen with 2+ people can be a double edged sword. As having every survivor on a different gen is the bigger threat for a killer. Nurse and Blight using it would seem a logic step, as they have the biggest mobility. But that doesn´t say anything about its power.

Usually survivors spawn the furthest away from the killer. So as killer the best step at the beginning is to go for the furthest gen. Lethal Pursuer only helps in the regard to chose a different taget gen for x reasons.

Remember, the thread is about that OP feels like cheating when using this perk. When there are aura reading perks that show where healing survivors are, where the exact position of the killer is when you hit a great skill check, where the killer is when he kicks something etc. Those are arguably stronger than Lethal Pursuer.

  • Obviously the cat is the new survivor.

  • Face huggi?
