We have a ton of aura reading perks for both sides and you think Lethal Pursuer is OP? There are much stronger aura reading perks that this one. Just saying.

I do 100% subscribe to there being something more to being on hook than just being timed out from doing (side) objectives. - There needs to be an incentive to stick around, even if the match is a lost cause. (and yes, you can incentivise all you want, there will always be petty people or people who get a kick out of ruining a match for someone else --- and for those there should be a stick. But after all the carrots than can be given have been given, so only these kinda people actually get the stick.)
Something more interactive than skill checks. Maybe the keypad puzzle we have on the traps of skull merchant. That rewards you with a nice amount of points if you complete it. Or something like that. So the match doesn´t feel like a loss.
After all, escaping is just 5000 bloodpoints and maybe an item.

Its rather funny how survs expect the devs to close the gap between solo and swf, (without adding comms ofc*) when the only differences between solo and swf are player behavior and comms.
*sacastically, one could argue that once its part of the game it might become a reason to "slightly adjust" survivors.
Yeah, and the reasoning against it is also rather funny. Our community fears that they could get flamed over voice. When there is little difference to the flaming in after match chat/profile spam.
Now its just a matter of how (in)mature our community is and how willing they are to adjust their behavior to the better. Recently BattleBit showed that a community can have ingame voice chat without toxic behavior. So its definetly possible.

BBQ is the least strong perk out of the bunch.
If you dont see the efficacy of NOED,then you probably never used the perk to snowball.
Corrupt is still an S tier perk, fym.
NOED snowballed? when survivors see its aura? Yeah... so stronk.
Corrupt S tier? A perk that instantly and permanently deactivates when someone kisses the floor? With Plot Twist in the game?
Yeah thx for the discussion. Have a good day.

The short temper you're describing is what in my opinion happens when you buff Killers versus solos while leaving their efficacy vs SWF unchanged.
Wouldn´t that advocate for SWF nerfs?
But then again, no one should be punished for playing with friends.

They got a lot of up votes because none of the stuff they said was wrong lol.
No? Mmhhh devs made the one killer buff patch in history (that even our grandchildren will talk about), because the kill rate was below 60%. So the statement is kinda wrong. Also survivors got the HUD, removed hook grabbing, basekit BT and soon the anti camp mechanic. So again, the statement of no one wanting to play survivor (when killer bonus is at 100%) is also simply wrong.
But yeah, lets keep this "us vs them" as everyone seems to love it.

Depends, quite honestly. Also depends on what you mean by "continue to play". As in continue to try and power gates? Not usually, no. Continue as in take chase and pretend this is a 1v1? Continue to try and get a challenge/ritual done? Sure. Will do. Is the most fun option under those circumstances.
And even if people 4% .... at least half the time I can very well see where they're coming from and am not particularly interested in playing that match either so I'm more or less glad to move on to the next match sooner rather than later.
As in continue to play DBD altogether? I mean, I play a lot less than a year ago already - and that is in no way connected to 4%-ing or DCing but more due to me having less time to play (the woes of real life T-T) and the overall sweat-level (though, I encounter more sweaty killers than I encounter sweaty survivors - then again, I'm an extremely chill killer player as well which kinda naturally prevents me from going to those places, I guess). It's already a game of roulette where only every once in a while you get a match that is actually fun in the conventional way. Most of the matches you have to bring the fun yourself and have to just do sth in the match that brings you joy and that is not connected to objectives. Whatever that may be. At least that's what works for me (on both sides).
That being said - I don't encounter 4%ing every single match I play. It happens somewhat more often in SoloQ than it used to (comparing to about a year ago), that's true, but it's nowhere near as bad as some people describe. But even if it was every single match... the same thing holds true. At least for me. Even as is I don't exactly play for the escape, so I'd just play even more for what's fun for me. And tbh, gens are somewhat low on that list if I don't happen to have Blastmine, Fogwise, Flashbang or another gen-related perk on me. Someone 4%-ing is, in that context, an opportunity - not a drawback.
---- On a side note: I'm not categorically opposed to just removing a whole lot of the hook shenanigans. For all I care people are just timed out on hook; no 4%, no skill checks, no whatever. - It just naturally follows that people who are timed out for more than a few seconds will also tab out. And then I wonder what is gained there? I can't see a net positive.
What i meant was the hypothetical IF it would happen every match. Since there are a lot of people in this threat defending 4%. Because quite honestly, i would stop playing the game. I´ve noticed an increase of my teammates suiciding on the first hook and its getting really annoying, when you only have so much time to play and then you get several matches where survivors just don´t feel like playing a whole match.
Maybe replace the self unhook/struggle phase with something more interactive. Something that would reward survivors for sticking around and not instantly kill them if they tab out. After all, people have been asking for bloodpoint rewards, while getting face camped. So the logic step would be to introduce something like that.

The past year or so,I've noticed a few trends in the designs.
New Players are disregarded, with the new "much fairer" SBMM putting them against 5000 hour players. I've never seen this happen so often with Ranks. Every single new Killer design has been like 10 pages long and hard to pick up and understand and there's no info in game on how to play against them
Perks & Killer designs like Sadako,Skull Merchant,Circle Of Healing,OTR all are abysmal for Solo players and are pretty good for SWF.
Most of the popular killer meta perks in the last year or so were all MUCH stronger vs Solo survivors, but not SWF.
Am I missing something or is BHVR going by the logic of only balancing for SWF players with thousands of hours and leaving all other players in the dust?
The only two exceptions I've seen in the last 2 years have been the new HUD and Hook Grabs (Which both were changes the community was screaming for, with Otz in particular if I recall correctly wanting Hook Grabs gone for years)
DbD was never and probably will never be balanced around SWF. Solos have been brought closer to SWF than ever. Only thing that could put it even would be ingame voice chat. But the community is fighting that idea with a burning passion.
Biggest issue survivors have right now are other survivors. Or lets say, their short temper and willingness to leave the match early, whenever something doesn´t go their way. Apart from that, solo is in the best spot ever. As you mentioned, the HUD is a very big thing, if survivors know how to read it.

I just came back after almost a year break to see if the game improved. I was face camped by a bubba 2 games in.
Killers should be nerfed, the killrate was 65% when I left and it has only gone up as far as I can see. Why anyone plays survivor right now is beyond me. The solo experience is all but dead.
Ironic how your comment got 6 upvotes, but the thread still sits at 0.
Almost like one thing has nothing to do with the other.
The vast majority of the forum users play both sides, btw.

Maybe something we haven´t had in a while, like a 3 gen killer?

@Halloulle said:
Question: what exactly is the goal? Do you think any of the players you keep in a match that way will have any kind of positive impact on the other players' match experience? Seriously, what's the point?
Where's the difference between someone trying to 4% and someone not being able to do that and tabbing out? (Or, if they then add auto-penalties for afk-ing, from just tabbing a gen and failing every single skill check? Or just running into the killer all the time?)
Honest question.
Would you continue to play, if you´d encounter someone who suicides on the first hook, every single match you play? Turning every match into a 3vs1 at 4-5 gens?

Try No Mither, Self Care, Overcome, and Solidarity.
There are a lot of useless builds that could come up with RNG. Like a lot. Would make for hilarious moments, sure. But with how easy our community goes on giving up, when something doesn´t go their way, a totally useless build could push things over the edge.

I think on this forum people forget a great deal of players don’t have the knowledge many here do. I’ve often be with players that try to kobe, and while I don’t know for certain I get the impression they are actually trying to 4% and it’s not them just giving up.
Had players try to kobe, when i came running from the other end of the map, in an attempt to unhook themselves right before i reached them. That isn´t a nice move towards the person that wants to help. Sometimes i even wait, let them finish their kobe attempts and watch how they fail + enter struggle phase.
The least i could do.
-
I injure them, but don´t down or hook yet. Until the bird notifications get to annoying. Then i down and hook them.
-
Simply to much RNG. With my luck i´d get No Mither, Self Care, Botany and Mettle of Man.

You can free youself out
Unless everyone is slugged or hooked, there is literally no reason to attempt a kobe. Only reasons i can think off are trolling and attempting to leave the match without the dc penalty. Luck builds also don´t count, as encountering those in the wild are as high as getting matched against Twins.
So why not just remove the whole self unhook and struggle mechanic? As it just promotes toxic gameplay. Since it ruins the match for everyone else.

Yes, but if she manages to hit you, you get TWO stacks. I've talked to Sadako mains who all HATED the PTB but LOVE what made it to the Live servers.
Then get another tape?
I mean, i´ve seen the first survivors actually turning the tapes in so people are learning how to play against Sadako.
Biggest issue so far is that people are not used to her mechanic and don´t know what to do. But this will fade quickly as more people play against her. Once thats solved we´ll see how strong she actually is. First days of a rework/release of a new killer it really isn´t possible to draw any conclusions on the killers strength.
-
Well how is it going? Are survivors responding to your kindness the way you expected?
-
Steam, crossplay on.
If you have long queues, why not switch to the side that gives the 100% bonus? Its an incentive for a reason.
-
Not cleansing can be actually worse than cleansing. It depends on the loadout of the Plague.
Also, most people forget that if you cleanse as often as possible, you force a reset on her power. All fountains reset.
-
Fun is subjective. A weak killer is fun for survivors. A strong killer is fun for killers.
Now whos fun matters the most? Killers or survivors?
I´ve seen people complain in the same sentence, that no one is playing "fun" (weak) killers but only "boring" killers.
Ideally a killer should be fun to verse while it also should feel rewarding for the killer. But how do you do that, when the forums get instantly flooded with complaints about a OP killer, whenever a new or reworked killer releases?
-
Since full reworks take a lot of time and there are killers which have been longer around, that still require that rework (looking at the Twins). I´d say we can see maybe a rework in 2-3 years.
Remember that the devs want to get away from 3 gens but also released several 3 gen killers in succesion.

yes its a big deal, coming from a sadako player.
yes holding a tape can give you 2 stacks IFFFF the sadako hits you, but thats only if she finds you and hits you. theres a reason why 100% of onyro players (yes 100%) are all saying and said even in the PTB that the cursed tapes give survivors protection instead of this "curse". if you hold a tape, you will never get condemned ever unless she hits you and breaks the tape. thats why people are saying, to just grab a tape at the start of a match and bam you counter her power (see image below)

solo Q def needs more changes to make it so much better to play, i already made a post about it if you wanna go to my prof and find it :3
but solo Q always started to suck the moment survivors kept getting consistently nerfed (rightfully so), but the nerfs only made solo Q a worse experience, while SWF has always remained super strong. theres not many ways to buff solo q without also indirectly buffing Solo Q, but theres definitely things like making kindred basekit (without the killer aura) are directly buffing solo q without buffing/nerfing SWF.
Beautiful guide!
-
The whole Lobby concept is kinda outdated tbh.
You click ready, then wait, then get into a lobby with 4 other players, then click ready and wait again for a minute because someone is busy sorting his socks by color.
Best thing to avoid the whole lobby dodging and lobby shopping issue would be to remove the lobby as a whole. You click ready from your status screen and next thing you see is the loading into match screen. Problem solved.

That is just Soloq....
Edit Fixed grammar
Eveyone is complaining about solo queue, but the main issue is really people disconnecting/suiciding on the first down/hook for no reason at all. Disconnects should be solved by bots. Now they just need to fix the suicides and the game becomes instantly better.

‘Decent survivors do X’ is a weak platitude killer mains posit to explain away poor game mechanics that benefit killers.
And while I don’t know what ‘top tier’ means to you I do know the Cannibal performs quite well. Per the dev’s stats he outperforms several other killers.
Bubba is bottom tier killer on high mmr. So i don´t know what you´re talking about. Camping only gets you so far in the game.
@McDoobz said:
In June, we brought major changes to the game. At the time, we stated that one of the main objectives behind the meta-shifting perk overhaul and base gameplay changes was to improve the overall kill rate (how many Survivors are killed each trial, on average). As stated in our most recent stats post , we did achieve that goal and as you’ll see in the below graphs, the kill rate continues to hover around the 59% to 61% range (up from a 51% to 53% range).
In the context of this new meta, many of you have been expressing that you’d like to see where each killer’s kill rate now stands. So, we’ve compiled the most recent data to share with you.
We’ve created two charts to help you visualize and analyze these stats:
- The first chart represents the kill rate broken down by killer, for all players (all Matchmaking Ratings), for the period of September 2022.
- The second chart also represents the kill rate broken down by killer for the same period, but only for players in the top 5% MMR.
Some things to keep in mind as you consult these charts:
- We rounded up some of the kill rates to make the charts below easier to read (only values ≥ 0.95 were rounded up). Scroll past the charts for exact kill rate values for each data set.
- It’s worth noting that many factors are taken into account when it comes to balancing killer powers and character perks, not only data.
- As always, we are monitoring our overall game balance on an ongoing basis and taking your feedback into account when evaluating whether or not design changes should be made. So please keep sharing your thoughts and experiences with us! We read you daily and relay your feedback to the appropriate people on a regular basis.

Killers can & do still win at higher MMR by camp-tunneling. It’s just harder to pull off. They smurf to face survivors at lower skill brackets because those tactics are much less risky against weaker players.
Decent survivors usually notice that playstyle and push gens.
There is a reason why Bubba isn´t considered a top tier killer.
-
To be fair. The survivors in the first match were beyond terrible. Like the one that ran away from the god pallet to attempt a 360.
So i really thought that could only be bots.
My bad.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3493711#Comment_3493711
The problem with solo is matchmaking & the fact that killer has a much lower skill floor than survivor so even a newbie can basically camp-tunnel their way to an MMR bracket where they don’t belong. Then they smurf their games or lobby shop till they find newer or weaker in some other way survivors to bulldoze, perpetuating the cycle.
I can´t follow your logic here.
If killers get to higher mmr ratings, due to the lower skill floor, then they are matched against much more skilled survivors, which put them in their place.
-
The Problem with solo is, that people still dc/suicide for no reason. Bots might help IF the devs also find a way to reduce the suicides.
Can´t balance properly, when more than half the matches contain a dc/suicide.
