Maybe the game will be finally balanced, once the MMR drops and the top SWF teams only face 2 killers (on top of longer queues for them).

That's not true. I used to get killer challenges 80% of the time when I mostly played killer. Recently I started playing survivor a lot more than killer and most of my challenges are for survivor now.
The system could be rigged to give out dailys for the side that is understaffed.

I don't get Scott. He finally admits openly that Nurse & Spirit are the only 2 viable killers, and yet half the time he does more to influence killer nerfs than anyone else.
He probably didn´t enjoy the MMR Test at all and sees what the future has prepared for him and everyone who plays DbD for a living. Maybe he thought killers needed nerfs to be enjoyable on low ranks.
But the game never should have been balanced around low ranks. No competitive pvp game does that.

When you disconnect, everyone gets points. Even the killer.
-
When someone gets mended by another survivor, both get the points.

depends on you MMR i know people who had to wait over an hour because none was near there MMR
also for me all i played against were sweaty Nurses, Spirits and Freddy's all day over the course of 18 matches, was not fun.
Then you had a high escape rate and the mmr worked accordingly.

It is nonsense. And really, I will not address made-up nonsense.
I did not say they are Killer Perks. But you also said quite often that you dont even play Killer.
And well, bringing up Detectives Hunch and Small Game is funny - people complain all the time that Survivors use the same Perks over and over again. But using other Perks which help to find Totems seems to be bad as well. Damn, those Survivor Perks!
I´m not sure what you are trying to say.
Just for the record. This thread is about Totems and how bad they are hidden. I approve this and also explain how survivors can find totems easier (they are not scary once you know where they are). Then you say this is nonsense and that i don´t play killer (which is... uhh not relevant for this discussion).
So back to the topic. Totem spawns are easier to find. Thats a fact.
- Hill totems used to be hidden in a small pocket, now they spawn on top or in front of the hill.
- totems that used to spawn inside of boxes (exceptions apply where the box is clearly visible) now spawn 1 or 2 meters in front of the box.
- totems spawn at survivor spawn points.
- totems spawn next to gens.
My problem is, that i didn´t expect the totem spawn points to change, so i never made screenshots of the good spots and now it´s to late and i could only show bad spots.

"Buuut once Undying dropped, the spawns got moved, to be easily spottable."
This is wrong. I know that you dont like to hear reasonable arguments, but making up nonsense is not good at all. And well, according to you, you dont even play Killer...
Nope it´s not. I remember several totem spots that used to be really hard to find. Now the totems don´t spawn there but 1 or 2 meters away, out in the open.
Oh Detectives Hunch and Small Game are killer perks? Good to know!
-
The new MMR will be a nightmare for sweaty SWF teams. They will face the same killers over and over with no variation. Because only a couple of killers are balanced for top level plays.

Wow, one screenshot. This evidence.
Try to find all 5 Totems on The Game, it will take some time. You will eventually find them, but not fast. This goes for quite a bunch of Maps, Saloon, Midwich, Lerys (so Indoor-Maps in general), also Yamaoka and Badham have some pretty decent Totem Spots.
Even MacMillan has some good spots since the Rework.
Have you tried using Detectives Hunch or Small Game? Those work wonders for finding totems!
Most spots are way to easily found. Totems used to be hidden better. Buuut once Undying dropped, the spawns got moved, to be easily spottable.

We’re seeing years of complaints about the balance and high level play brought out into the open. Everything thats being exposed with MMR is what the top players have said since 2016.
It’s ok though, I’m sure the designers will take a look at their spreadsheets and disagree. Then they’ll scratch their heads when killer numbers drop even further once MMR is brought in. They sure as hell won’t be making any major balance changes so I would encourage people not to get their hopes up as you will only be severely disappointed.
That is also what the streamers say. The game is not balanced around top players and once the MMR stays, all the sweaty SWF groups will get the same killers over and over.

People who complain about MMR have no clue how it's even supposed to work. They're like "these matches are bad AT FIRST, so let's cancel the whole thing because we can't wait a few matches for the MMR system to play out". Give MMR a week or less and you'll have actually good matchmaking. Noobs with noobs and pros with pros. But no, let's throw a tantrum because we get rainbow ranks for a few matches, which we've been getting anyway, and kill the only system that will get us accurate low mmr vs low mmr and high mmr vs high mmr match statistics.
Maybe the difference in people's experience comes from different playtime. If someone barely played before, than the system won't have collected enough data to find the perfect match. Because it needs time.
Also people complained about the ranks of the people they got matched with. But the system ignores ranks.
I played as red rank killer against 2 rank 19 survivors. Which normally would be horrible. But they were fully decked and played good. Which means that the system worked well in ignoring the ranks.

I never thought I'd find myself agreeing with you but honestly yeah, it was a lot better being able to play people I never play as. Alas now it's back to Pyramid, Nurse, and once he's buffed Wraith.
Don´t worry, i promise i won´t make a habbit of it. 🤣
When playing survivor, my teammates were decent and when playing killer, the matches were not as stressful. It was a good change and i hope they´ll turn it back on permanently as soon as possible.
-
The games felt more interesting with MMR on.
I don´t get why people got so mad about it. Now its back to sweat.
-
Killers lag switching shouldn´t be possible anymore. It was one of the main selling points of dedicated servers.

One of them DC'd before the match began
One of the rank 3's used an ormond offering as well
I think it´s best to ignore the ranks then. Because the MMR doesn´t take ranks into account.

PTB maybe ? 4 years they are talking about this new matchmaking, it will never happen, do you understand this ? You want to know why ? Because they don't know how to evaluate a good survivor or killer.
A killer tunnelnig and camping getting 4k against soloQ survivors will be considered a great player.
A soloQ survivor tunneled during the 5 gens to death that couldn't do anything but running, getting 10k will be considered a bad survivor.
No one plays normal on the PTB. People disconnect, when they don´t get matched against the new killer or when they are not on the new map (when there is one). You would get a ton of useless data, which would result in a faulty MMR on release.
Would you honestly prefer, that they just launched the MMR without testing it?
-
@YourNightmare said:

You are definitely a fan boy, where are you objective in all you say ?
Yes, the matchmaking in other online games is clearly way better than the one you get in DbD even though they often use the ELO system for team based matchmaking which cannot work as ELO is designed for 1v1.
A BETA tester is someone in charge to test a product before its release. So when you are on the PTB testing the next DLC, you are a beta tester.
And when you are testing new unfinished features on the live servers, you are also a beta tester.
So if you like being someone paying for games and ending up by playing an unfinished game for years because BHVR is constantly bringing new things ant at the same time breaking other things, be it but you can't come here and tell everyone who disagree to continue to be sheeps and accept it or to stop to play the game.
Dude, do you understand the problem behind a large scale test? How many beta testers should they hire in order to test the MMR? 100k? 500k? Because having 20 people testing the mmr won´t be enough.
-
My matches have felt more relaxing. No sweating for a kill.
But I think it's best to ignore the ranks. Had some decent rank 19 SWF that were fully decked. So obviously people that depiped on purpose.
-
It´s a known issue that has something to do with the general lack of killers.
Soon they will introduce the MMR and remove ranks.

Yes, clown is totally op in chases, but he has no map pressure. And that's the error, we need longer games, with more conditions to escape and less powerfull killers
But you realize its a 4vs1. The killer has to be as strong as 4 survivors and should not be balanced for 1vs1.
-
@valvarez4 said:
What can survs do against a good nurse? Nothing. What can survs do against a good spirit/freddy? Gen rush. What can survs do against myers infinite tier 3? gen rush. Can you escape from an average clown chase? No. Solution, gen rush. What can you do against bubba? throw pallets. What happens when there's no pallets? You die. Solution, gen rush.
Don't you think the game would be healthier is killers don't be so overpowered 1vs1, all be like doctor or myers, and survs need to do something else to escape. Long games, less stressful, more chases,...
So your solution to balance out gen rushes is to nerf killers?
Thats a bold statement. Especially since you name Clown as being OP.
So, lets just assume, the devs would nerf each and every single killer. Do you think the gen rushing would stop?
-
At this point, i even wouldn´t be surprised if the next killer is Marry Poppins.

I'll ask again as you so conveniently ignored it Lerys has some of the best hiding spots in the entire game, inside blue turned over crates that face the wall etc, I'm sure you've seen them, if they expressly nerfed totem spots because of undying, why weren't THE best hiding spots changed?
Just because the hill spot has changed does not mean it was to do with Undying, hills being "hiding" spots for totems is arguably a terrible idea anyway due to the fact everybody knows it's a quick check so to assume they nerfed the big op hill "hiding" spot in response to undying is... laughable at best.
It USED to have them. Now they are also not so hidden anymore. I remember a really good spot, hidden in a corner. Only visible, when you entered that spot. Last time i checked, the totem was in front of it. Not hidden at all. Please, stop relying on old information and check it yourself.

Yup, that's unfortunately the case. The only thing we can do ourselves is play the way we wish others would. My guiding principle. I always try as a killer to make sure to be as fair as possible and score a lot of points for everybody. Especially when there are offerings.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2029645#Comment_2029645
Right and if he also thinks he has second glue under his feet and can't walk across the map, what should he do? XD
Same. But when i get a team that rushes gens despite me playing fair and offerings being in play, i say f it and open the gate for them. You only want minimum points from the gens, go ahead, enjoy.

Wait you really think they made totems more visible and it isn't actually because they've remade the maps so they're in different places? lmao.
they didn't move totems purely because of undying, it took them years to even start hiding them you really think they decided to nerf all totem locations... because of undying?
Why didn't they move any of the lerys ones once they added undying? lmao.
Check it yourself. The totems on the hills used to be set in the little pocket. A little harder to see. Now they sit in front of the hill or on top of it. And that's just 1 spot.

@Seanzu said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2029504#Comment_2029504
I don't understand your point, just because a totem doesn't survive the entire match doesn't mean it wasn't useful or anything, a totems survivability has literally nothing to do with how much it effects the match, if the totem is destroyed as the exits are powered does that mean the totem was useless simply for the fact it was broken?
Hex perks are supposed to be high risk, high reward perks. Only killers have high risk, high reward perks. After the introduction of Undying, hex spawn points got a shadow nerf, moving them to more visible spots. Now, hex perks are very high risk but low reward.
The spawn points need to change, or the devs need to give survivor specific hex perks, that look like normal hex perks but affect survivor perks. That way, they wouldn´t know if they are cleansing their own perk. Which would make it high risk and high reward for both sides.
-
Its a combination of Rift challenges that want survivors to repair X amount of gens and the last event. People got used to how quickly gens get done.
What makes me really wonder if the devs have the current gen speed on their radar or if they see it as normal.
-
@Seanzu said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2029449#Comment_2029449
There is a hex totem in almost every match I play, if they were only 1 in 100 useful they'd never get used.
and, if they are only 1 in 100, maybe killers need to stop running them all the time as they're obviously, by what you say, immediately destroyed.
You don't have to sit on a totem the entire match to protect it, sometimes it's pushing the survivor away when in a chase so they don't see it, sometimes it's literally hitting them when they're on it, to pretend this doesn't happen is ridiculous.
Read again. I said the hex survives 1 in 100 matches.
Now on the uses you get out of it, depends on the totem. A DH can give you a few additional downs before it's cleansed. For some people that's enough to keep using it. Just like Haunted Grounds.

When I play killer though its all sweaty swf red ranks, never the same survivors i get matched with in solo que. literally played one game as killer just now and its a super coordinated team lul.

Since that's the only logical explanation.

Obviously defending totems isn't the killers only goal. Stop being so literal.
You said that killers can just hit survivors. But the killer can only chase 1 survivor at a time. So when he chases a survivor away and he gets a notification that his hex is being cleared, he either breaks the chase or loses the hex. Especially against SWF. If he breaks the chase, the situation won't improve. The survivor heals and will go for the as soon as the killer chases someone else.
Survivors complain about tunneling killers. But have you ever seen how adamant survivors can be, when it's about cleansing a lit totem?

Hex Roulette? That's my hag build. Undying, haunted ground, devour and thrill of the hunt. Got no issues with totem defense. Sure every now and then one will get broken, but by that point I've done enough damage with it I don't mind the loss of a perk, and am in a good place to finish the game strong.
Nothing funnier than getting 3 or 4 notifications of a hex totem being cleansed at the same time.
No, thx. I like my stress level below finals level.

I don't get why you're being so condescending and acting like a killer has never been able to defend a totem and still win the match.
What's condescending about that?
With the way totems spawn now, a hex is dead as soon as it's seen. Totems spawns out in the open, next to gens, at survivor spawns, on top of hills, etc. They spawn everywhere but hidden places.
Now add SWF and everyone knows where the totem is. The killer can't sit always on the totem. Not when he has to defend gens and apply pressure. Sure, there is 1 in 100 matches where the killer gets lucky and the totem survives the match. But that's not the norm. You should know that.

By checking on the area where its located from time to time and smacking whoever is trying to cleanse them?. This game isnt black and white, you can defend Totems and gens especially high mobility or area Killers but you obviusly wont be defending your totem 100% of the time, that goes without saying... Did you really think I was suggesting to stand in front of a lit totem for the entire game?.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2028345#Comment_2028345
Even more absurd, why a anyone would bring a perk that can get deactivated by their own teammates or by himself by mistake?, that applies to Killers, why would you bring a Hex if by deactivating the Survivor perk you can break your own Hex?.
Sounds good, doesn't work. Wanna feel stressed? Equip 4 hex perks and try to defend them. Hell, even 2 is impossible.
