Current DS is stopping tunnelers. Double DS would be like going back to the old version, where DS was weaponized. I constantly see streamers get hit by DS, where you can see that they didn´t expect to get hit by it, simply because they were not tunneling. Now imagine double ones. DS is still meta, so there is really no need for a buff. However a slight nerf would be appropiate.
I wish you a nice evening. It was nice having a discussion with you. Even though, you ended it prematurely.
How is the current DS stopping anyone from tunnelling?
As others have said in this very thread the best way to counter DS in the endgame is to get rid of it before that happens.
What happens to the player that manages to be chased for 5 gens while being tunneled by a Killer that has this philosophy of countering DS?
They somehow deserve to have one of their perks deactivated in the end game?
I hope you can understand how absurd that sounds.

The amount of threads complaining about camping dropped significantly during that period. Go check yourself if you don't believe me.
If you've checked every single original post and disregarded all of the replies cross referencing it with every other post made during that timeframe I suppose I'll have to take your word for it.

Lets take a look into the past. Back when Undying was released. There were absolutely no threads about camping or tunneling killers on the forum. There where tons of "Undying Ruin OP, pls nerf" threads. But camping didn´t seem to be an issue. Why? Because a killer that wanted to get any benefit from Undying Ruin, had to constantly switch targets. He couldn´t camp or tunnel.
Now fast forward to the Undying nerf and suddenly the camping and tunneling threads are back.
What a surprise! Who would have guessed, that killers with enough time to actually play the game, would prefer longer matches?!
You can't be serious.
Camping and tunneling has been happening since the inception of the game.
Pretending like Undying fixed this is quite frankly one of the stupidest things I've ever heard.

If the key is still predetermined it will be in two boxes when the trap is applied.
No idea why anyone would assume it just magically works on the last two boxes.
That would require an unneeded overhaul of how the boxes work and be a complete waste of time.

The key being predetermined still meant that the first box a survivor checked had a 25% chance to be the one with the key. Also the key stills appears to be predetermined with the exception of the 4th box search always giving you a key.
So nothing has really changed except now that with an extra box being basekit you have 1/5th chance for the first search instead of 1/4th chance.
If the key is still predetermined it has to be placed in two of the five boxes.
The Survivor effectively then has a 40% chance to find the key on the first box.
40% on the first, 50% on the second, 67% on the third which would be a nerf to Pig.
-
@TAG said:
This means that Survivors now have a 20% chance of finding the key in one box. It's essentially a weaker version of old Sketch as basekit.
This is a net buff for Pig. Now we just need to make first box auto-fail.
Before this change the key was predetermined in a box as soon as the player was trapped.
There were no chances on each box.
Interested to see if they completely mess this up to where every survivor is getting their trap off on the fourth box.
-
This is not going to have the desired effect they think it will.
There is a reason why these perks are and have been META.
Just more band aid solutions that will end up doing absolutely nothing while the core problems persist.
Outstanding job.

Quitting mid game for any reason that is within your control is rage quitting. You could have just played the game out and then be done, but instead you had to quit the game and make it harder for your teammates because you couldn't handle it.
Which Isn't that too bad, killers also have to deal with repetitiveness with survivors. Yet you don't see killers quitting mid game because they faced the 10th dead hard for the night.
Ah yes, the Killer never quits!

If stigma mattered no one would play survivor because NOED has a stigma of being cheap, overpowered and unbeatable. No, it's something there beyond stigma for a whole portion of the community to want out of it and in most cases having left the game. My friends list for DbD is just about extinct.
But the numbers are in decline (-4000 so far this month and it isn't over yet) and will continue to be, so you will deal with the inevitability of the situation soon enough. The issue will be resolved, or you won't have anyone to play with.
If the question of bots on the survey didn't ring a bell of awakening for you then nothing will. Maybe you think bots will be fun, but they won't be. They will be static and predictable and will not be satisfying to win against like all bots. You will also have an insurmountable issue to contend with, the devs rather, and that is that a bot doesn't know how to play like a human. It will register a hit that it knows is makeable and make the hit. It will never second guess itself. Humans do. They will either be unbeatable or exploitable and pointless.
Espousing the same dogma on the forums might work in creating a theatre of opposition on the forums but it won't have the slightest effect on the objective reality in the game.
If only survivors and the devs would unplug the bananas from their ears and listen. I am a good killer. I have about 1700 real hours of experience playing as one and I play them all. I don't mind the challenge of SWF, I simply want to know I am playing against one, maybe showing their combined MMR so I know just how strong to equip. I don't want to decimate a low MMR group of SWF just because they are SWF. I don't like to piss away my BP because I don't find grinding it fun. I don't like to use UR addons and meta builds against solo queues and new guys, however I need those to give SWF high MMR groups an appropriate challenge. Not knowing and having to guess is problematic. I should be warned and given the chance to equip and prepare for the more mentally taxing match and a small bonus of BP (even if it's for everyone including survivors) would be all the incentive I need. That is a reasonable request. Our side is reasonable. The survivor side is not.
No one wants DbD to flounder and die off.
You lot claim you just want good games with your friends but rally against giving the gamemaster (the killer) any tools to affect that. But then we both know you lot don't really want good games, you want to decimate the killer which is why you offer endless counter propaganda to any change in regards to it. You are very quickly approaching the rubicon of DbD matchmaking and the devs will soon make a choice or the choice will be made for them. The idea DbD is going to bounce back is wishful thinking and completely ignoring the fact that most of the popular streamers have left. There isn't a popular license that is going to save the day.
Do you honestly think the declining player numbers are due to people solely playing one particular role in the game?
Completely clueless.

Maybe. What's the harm in testing it for a few days, though?
We can trade anecdotes and hypotheticals all day, but at some point we just need to collect data.
Collect what data?
Someone has already pointed out that shortly after the game was released there was no SWF option.
Nearly impossible to find a game because people would lobby dodge until they found their friends.
Everyone would be in the Solo queue trying to find friends again because there wouldn't be anyone to play with in the SWF queue.
You have to be completely delusional to think this would have any sort of positive impact at all.

""Gutted" would imply they completely nerfed her power even though it's exactly the same on a mechanical level"
No, it's not. The mechanic was completely changed. The change doesn't have to literally be on the killer, it can be on how the survivors play against her which in turn does affect how she has to play.
"Survivors just have an actual way to respond to it now."
They did before, most were just not good at critically thinking how.
"She still moves faster than them, she still can't be looped as easily as other killers can and the information survivors get isn't 100% perfect - it's vague enough for it to be fair imo."
Speed is literally all she has now. She can be looped very easily and yes the information they get is 100% unless you're literally playing without headphones. There is zero vagueness to it whatsoever.
There was only guessing on both sides until the Survivor was injured (then it was guessing on one side only) until the changes were made to Stridor and Spirit.
If this is your idea of critical thinking, there isn't really much to say.
The only reliable things to do in a competitive environment before the changes were pre-dropping every single pallet with distance/guessing and getting lucky.
A comp player actually showed this and in no way shape or form was it feasible or would have contributed to winning in a non comp game of DBD.
I can however agree that the changes may have been taken a little too far as she does seem fairly weak now compared to her former self.
The changes that were made to her were absolutely needed, to say she was "gutted" is a complete farce.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
You're attributing correlation to causation a bit. You said you have 3 friends who play DbD like a job, which I'm assuming means they're already pretty optimal. It's not the comms themselves that are causing this huge escape rate. Do an experiment. Play without comms and see what happens. I bet your escape rate doesn't move all that much.
What you're running into are killers below your skill level. Play against a comp level killer in a KYF setting. It might change your mind a bit.
This.
Coms or SWF do not magically make you good.
You have to actually be good in the first place.
Most of the valuable information when playing a match is discernable without being on voice.

Okay, if you don't consider pre-rework Trapper to be a bad killer, I think we're working of a very different definition of bad here.
'Bad' to me, means that she's extremely weak proportional to the power of other killers. Yes, 'bad' means 'weaker than most other options'.
Yes, if a killer requires substantial adjustments - barring bugs, QOL etc. - then they are bad.
According to your assessment, nearly every other Killer is a god and needs no changes simply because it was easier for a single streamer to get win streaks on them?
Calling this "illuminating" makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

That IS how math works. The 35k on Steam is an AVERAGE players over the course of time, meaning that there could be anywhere between 20k and 50k people on. In terms of math and stats, peaks do not matter because they don't actually say anything about the number of people playing. If 100k people are on at the same time but only play between 7 and 8 and nobody plays before or after, you have 100k players total. 2 Million logins per day in total averages out to be 83k people. And the 2 million logins is BHVR's own number, so according to their own self-reporting they have roughly 83k people playing the game at a time on average.
The 2 million is referencing unique logins, it has no correlation whatsoever to the average playing at a given time during the day.
Unless you think the same xxx amount of players are playing 24 hours a day???
That isn't math, that's someone who has absolutely no idea what they are even talking about.
-
In the Spring of 2017 their average player base was hovering under 10,000 on a single platform.
Dead By Daylight could lose 90% of its players RIGHT NOW and still be perfectly fine.
Some of the people that post on this forum are something else.
-
Imagine the role being less played having less players in the matchmaking queue depending on the time of day.
More useless crap that people will fling around to fit their chosen narrative.
If some of you had cared to notice, between 11:42 AM and 2:12 PM the Survivor queue is hovering around ZERO while the Killer queue is around 100-200.

Wrong.
One of them has to die on purpose in order for the other to escape, there is no 50% chance of Survival.
They will both die if one does not sacrifice themself because both of their trap timers started at the exact same time.

There are four Survivors that can bring four cakes and one Killer that can bring one cake, yet the Survivors are leeching?

One difference; using a mic is 'using a third party program to gain an advantage' IE: the description of cheating in almost every online game out there.
The rest; I agree with. Try your hardest. Group with friends. Use META perks. Slam those pallets, use those loops, use blockers on ranged Killers. Rush those gens. Your goal is to escape. Mine is to kill you. Anything that's not cheating or exploits is fair game.
In short; Try your best, within the confines of the game (and without using cheats or exploits) to win.
So, using Discord for voice chat playing any other game is cheating now?
Do you define joining a party on console also cheating even though that isn't a third party program?
Do you even understand how incredibly stupid this sounds?

Also, define tunneling. Last game i hook a nea, while shes hooked i go hook a dwight, shes unhooked in that process, i come back and shes working a gen so i down hook her. Get dwight again, come back and nea is healed just standing under the hook so i down her and she dcs. My dms are off but im positive she called me a tunneling douche wheb i didnt tunnel her, i juggeled her and dwight 🤷♂️
You hooked Dwight.
Downed Nea again after she was unhooked.
Went back for Dwight after he was unhooked and downed or hooked him again.
Play however you want, stop trying to make excuses for it.

'It's your choice to go back to the hook'. #########?
HALF THE TEAM is around that hook; the unhooked, and an unhooker. Sometimes 3 people are there, for various reasons.
Am I supposed to ignore the hook because I might look like a meany-face for going back? 😂
And let's say 2 or 3 gens popped in that first chase; a not uncommon result, these days. Am I now not supposed to go after the wounded prey that I only need to hit once, because Survivors think it's mean to 'tunnel'? Yet more 'The Killer is not allowed to try winning' propaganda.
And it's THAT mindset, that the Killer has to play 'honorably' according to made up rules, that sees Survivors using the excuse 'The Killer played toxic, so I can be toxic back in chat' also known as 'He started it!'.
And yes; the mindset, if not the situation, goes both ways; Killers see Survivors do something they SUBJECTIVELY consider 'toxic' and use it as an excuse to abuse people in the chat.
And that mindset is also why you see so many threads about how 'unfair' or 'toxic' camping/slugging/tunneling/perk/Killer are; it's people trying to force their SUBJECTIVE rules onto the game as golden law, while having 0 idea what balance is.
I could care less if you tunnel or camp or slug or whatever.
Placing blame on anyone or anything else trying to justify what you are doing is what I have an issue with and the reason why I commented here.
-
@BingBongMan said:

I have been in every position in that situation, and I can definitively say that if the unhooker doesn't take the killer's attention. Then they have no better options than to go after the recently unhooked survivor.
Would you have the killer simply abandon the chase just so they don't look like an A - hole?
Let me get this straight.
You expect the unhooker to just stand around in plain site in front of the hook waiting for the Killer to come back so they don't tunnel the person that was on the hook??????
Then if they don't it's their fault your chasing the recently unhooked, absolutely mind boggling.
-
@BingBongMan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2320221#Comment_2320221
Yeah, plus for the hook situation there isn't really anything better the killer can do.
They can either abandon the unhooked survivor and look for the unhooker, risking a large amount of pressure in the process. Or go after the injured guy and hook them again with the risk of DS being in play.
Really you can only blame the teammate for not taking the heat off of the injured guy.
Yep for some reason it's always someone else's fault.
It's your decision to go back to the hook after someone is unhooked.
Either you are already close enough to see both Survivors running away or hiding, or you are 50/50'ing whether you find the unhooked or the unhooker with it being more likely you find the unhooked because of sound and blood.
The Killer makes this decision, putting the blame on the unhooker for not being able to find them is completely assinine.

@DoritoHead said:
(I spent 30 minutes typing this and then my internet went out so I had to do it all again)
Part 1: Introduction
In Dead by Daylight, there are many problems that the community must deal with, ranging from a myriad of bugs to basic toxicity from fellow players. But the most omnipresent of these problems is the grind. In a game that's been balancing towards more casual players, this problem still remains as a turnoff for those same players. The result is a game in a state that competitive players are unhappy with, and one that casual players can't enjoy since they have to spend all of their time grinding certain killers to get certain perks, and finally, one that new players are intimidated by. This only benefits the small percentage of players who are completely fine with pouring hours upon hours into the game to make only a bit of progress. Most people who fit this demographic are a younger audience, however this game is rated M.
For these reasons, I believe that making the grind less severe benefits all players of all experience levels.
Part 2: What can be done?
Luckily, there are several solutions for solving this problem. While they would all work, there is one that I think is the best. (If you've read this far, thank you.)
increasing bp earned per match and the maximum bp cap would be more of quality of life improvements and wouldn't tackle the problem as well as other possible solutions. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be implemented, though. The former would be a massive improvement for survivor gameplay, and the latter would make the process of gaining and spending bloodpoints much easier.
Decreasing the price of all items in the bloodweb is another possible solution, but it would have to be done carefully. The fact is that for a game like dead by daylight, some sort of grind is in fact optimal, and it would be easy to overdo this and make the grind almost nonexistent. It wouldn't give a very good reason to play unless other problems in the game are also fixed. And if underdone, it will do almost nothing. Even if done just right, it doesn't eliminate the final problem I'll be touching on.
Removing perk tiers is in my opinion the best and most simple way to reduce the grind. This doesn't mean that other solutions can't also be implemented, but removing perk tiers should be prioritized.
Part 3: Why perk tiers should go
Perk tiers were a good idea when there were only 3 killers. Honestly, it wasn't much of a problem for a long time. But right now, Dead By Daylight has 5 years and 24 killers under its belt, and the fact that perk tiers still exist is unacceptable. (If you read this far, you're great!)
Let's do some quick math. There are 24 killers in Dead By Daylight. Each one has 3 teachable perks, and there are 12 perks accessible to every killer for a total of 84 (Information from Dbd wiki) All of these perks cost 4,000 to buy, 5,000 to reach level 2, and 6,000 to reach level 3, totaling 15,000 bloodpoints for one perk to reach level 3.
With 84 perks, that's 126000 bloopoints to get every perk at tier 3 for one killer. If you want all perks at tier 3 for every killer, that's 30240000 bp. Not to mention that you'll be buying offerings and addons, spending bp on killers to unlock their teachables, prestiging, and going through bloodweb after bloodweb looking for one perk to use on one killer at times. And we didn't even touch on survivors, which would be extra bp due to the Stranger Things and RE chapters having extra characters.
Part 4: What if perk tiers were removed?
So let's say that we put in a new system. 5,000 to buy a perk at level 3, no matter what.
84 x 5000= 420,000 to get all perks on one killer, not including the already mentioned factors. What if you want all perks on all killers?
420,000 x 24= 10080000, not including the already mentioned factors. I shouldn't have to tell you how much of an improvement this is.
A potential argument against this is that many players won't bother prestiging every character or getting all perks on everyone. While this might be true for some people, the root of that argument is based on what players tend to do right now- prestige no one, only grind for perks on your main killer or killers. And those tendencies are a direct product of the game's grind.
Part 5: ALternative Solutions
This part is for your suggestions. I have a bad habit of forgetting important details when making posts that take a while to type, so if I missed something, just tell me and I'll slap it here.
(If you've read this far, I love you.)
The problem is not the cost of the perk at 4, 5, or 6k.
The problem is you need to do a full bloodweb that costs around 50k in order to do it again.
Right now to take a Killer from Level 1 all the way to Prestige 3 with all perks costs roughly 10.8 million points.
Removing perk tiers would lessen this to 6.6 million points.
Survivors cost even more.
While it would be a good start, removing perk tiers simply still isn't enough with the amount of Survivors and Killers there are now.

it's literally a dead mechanic, only noob killers ever use it to get a hit after wasting 45 seconds of their own time just for an injure, complaining about bloodlust just shows how little you understand killer gameplay

Hag and Doctor were not "free".
Console base game is $30 that includes Hag and Doctor, Steam is $20 that does not.

As stated above, it's a terrible perk already that is only used by players that are completely unaware of their surroundings.

Kidnapping victor makes you completely useless for the entire duration. Youre giving the killer free pressure when you do this because it's one less person that is doing gens while charolette is free to continue injuring and downing people and kicking them off gens.
This is incorrect.
Most people that play the Twins will instantly try and chase the Survivor with Victor.
Charlotte is an M1 Killer with no special power therefore you want to be chased by her with Victor on your back.
Removing Victor and then being chased by Charlotte only for her to spew out another Victor is an incredibly stupid play which only increases their snowball potential.

My logic is flawed? Wanna explain that to me, since based on what you said, survivors not achieving their goal to escape should be rewarded by ranking up? If the general goal is for survivors to escape and killers to kill the survivors why is one side given points for not escaping and the other not given points for killing everyone?
Your logic is saying that a Survivor that does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING the entire trial and escapes should rank up?
Meanwhile the Survivor that is saving others, doing generators, being chased and dying during this time should derank?
How is a Survivor given points for not escaping, they don't get 5k for dying....HELLO?
Next time you play Killer make sure you watch right before the game ends.
There will be a little notification that pops up called "No One Escaped", it gives 625 points for each Survivor that Did not escape.
Clearly you have no idea what you are even talking about.

All they have to do is make it so survivors affected by BT don't have collision.
Never going to happen.
