  • The stun is communicated in the patch notes. (Didnt get edited in, i read them yesterday).

For the topic: yh they pretty weak, you need the addons for them and the right map and maybe then you get a hit.

I think the basekit range needs to be bigger. Stun i dont know, you can outplay that pretty easily.

About the visibility: yh that makes them weak, but with the teleport to healing freddy is already a pretty good noob stomper.

So yh they need a buff, but they should aim to make it more useful against good survivor and not awful against newer ones (bc then we get 100% a freddy nerf in 3 months)

I currently have a curved monitor and have noticed absolutely no difference playing on it.

What made the difference for me was being able to up my fps from 60 to 120 (PC upgrade), and then not hitting a skill check for a few matches LOL.

    Sounds good. Thank you.

I had the skillcheck problem after switching from playstation. Was like rewiring my brain.

  • Depends. At the end of the day he is stronger than half of the killer.

But nurse exists. So with that in mind you could buff every killer, but would you buff billy or give blight his hug tech back?

But what about a middle ground? Irs just about the question which is the right spot for killer.

Houndmaster got buffed to be stronger than slinger, but nerfed Chucky is weaker. So maybe even the devs dont know the correct spot (houndmaster gets probably nerfed again)

  • I dont know. Its such a pain to level, but i still do it when i reach the bp cap. Mostly with the autospend-function while watching a video.

I would like an instant prestige-button for 1 or 1,5 million bp.

The body blocking happened only during the EGC? Sure it's scummy, but least the EGC was active and will force the game to end so not as bad. Would've been bannable offense if the EGC wasn't active.

    @GentlemanFridge said:

In this particular scenario, I'm afraid it's not a bannable offense, as the game can and will end within a given timeframe. That, of course, does not mean it isn't a scummy thing to do.

As for solutions, I've already mentioned this in other threads, but survivors losing collission when they have AFK crows seems like it would solve so many instances of actually problematic bodyblocking…

What are you talking about? Its clearly a bannable offense (working with the killer).

The survivor can be banned for that.

  • Its hard to tell ingame. As survivor you cant see what your mates are doing all the time and for both roles it depends on your skill level.

In my experience the most toxic are the people who are decent at the game. And they are obviously toxic against beginner bc they win against them. If you are better and lose only against good players, you dont see much. Bc giod players are rarely toxic.

Well it depends what counts as toxic. A good killer will use things like slugging, camping etc when neccessary and some think its toxic. Im speaking about thinks like bleeding out for 4min when i mean toxic behavior.

None of this is accurate so I'm not really sure how to reply. Like it's inaccurate from the killer and survivor perspective.

Well, then lets end it. I dont want to make a playtime argument but i can only speak from my experience. If yours differs its pointless.

The main benefit is hook stages to be honest. End game everyone or at least probably everyone is on 2nd hook and you might even be down to 3 v 1 which is going to make popping that gen harder.

Early game everyone is at 0 stages and if you're lucky you can at least progress the gen a decent amount while the killer is in their first chase before they have time to start defending it as hard.

AAlso you want that corner gen away from everything else end game. Popping it early does get you a head start when you think of it as just 1 of 5 done, but the reality is it hinders you late game.

Also even a killer defending a 3 gen shouldn't be giving 4 free gens. They are still going to watch the others, it's just they are going to focus on those 3 when they start progressing.

In theory yes if the killer gives you 4 free gens take them but that's not how most matches will go.

If the killer can get hook stages etc and hold the 3gen at the same time, its a survivor problem. Bc if he can get fast downs like that, he would win anyway.

Your talking about a survivor-made-3gen and yh here you should get it out of the way first. But thats a completely different 3gen.

You cant hold a 3gen while getting downs except if you can chase in your 3gen or get really fast downs, both the survivors fault.

Maybe a nitpick but I don't think it matters if the killer is protecting the 3 gen early.

.If their goal is to 3 Gen you, you may as well try and knock it out early as possible. You're going to have to break that 3 gen at some point so it doesn't much matter if it's at 5 gens or 1 if the killer is intent on that 3 gen ending.

Kind of just have to play it by match. A good strategy can be hiding for 5-10 seconds while a teammate does the gen IF you know the killer is coming, then rotating onto it once their chase starts. Don't just hide to waste time all match of course. Talking an ultra specific scenario.

But your winning condition is to get 5 gens done, not to break the 3gen. So if you do it early, you still have 4 gens left (if the killer doesnt dc right away). So now he could try the second best 3gen or worse: change tactics and tunnel the person who got hooked the most while breaking the 3gen.

Why should you ever not take the free 4 gens? Sometimes the killer even grows impatient, runs out and then you can sneakily to the 3gen.

But yh the worst case would be one guy attacking the 3gen alone and wasting every ressource in the vicinity. But if everyone is smart, just let the killer waste their time. (Maybe attacking early against a trapper, so he cant trap everything, but you can also just always take a hit and leave the 3gen)

I wish more survivors understood the importance of NOT doing safe edge gens first but instead trying to hammer out mid gens ASAP.

I feel like I can judge a survivors intelligence in game when I see them also join me in making the mid, or at the very least the unsafe gens first. As a solo queue veteran this is unfortunately the exception not the rule and it means I am often the one who gets found first, as I take the biggest risks gen wise because I know doing the wrong gens first dooms the team in the end.

Its really helpful especially on maps like Ormond but there are some downsides in solo que.

One downside is that other survivor will bring the killer to your gen but thats not even that bad bc delaying the first down is good and even if the killer stays near other gens get done in that time. But it would be bad if you are a survivor who cant loop and then you are downed next to the middle gen.

So maybe only confident survivor should do it, but if we are honest the best play as good survivor in solo que is to run straight to the killer to bait first chase.

The other problem with solo que is that you dont know how good the first chase will be. So chances are high that the killer can hook his first target and is still in time to stop the middle gen.

    My own tips:

Do not double the gens at the start. Doing solo gens is normally better. Except if you can double the middle gen and finish it.

You also should not do safe gens first like Saloon Gen on Dead Dawg (safety depends on the killer) and you should target 3gens. But never target a three gen when the killer protects it. Do the easy gens first and maybe bait some kicks on the 3gen to reach the kick limit easier.

Honestly for new players: JUST TAKE DEJA VU

  • I got it some months ago, but i wasnt aware of that challenge (after 100% GTA 5 i decided to stop doing boring things for trophies). I just wanted to finish the gen bc i do sometimes stupid things.

But yh that was after playing 3500 hours, so the chance is pretty low.

  • Take of the day: Forced Hesitation is a better Lightborn

I dont see the point of this discussion.

Lightborn is a perk for inexperienced killer player. If you can get a flashlight/flashbang save you are not an inexperienced survivor player.

So if an experienced survivor goes against an experienced killer there will be no lightborn.

If inexperienced players go against each other no flsahlight save will happen anyway, so that perk is useless.

It only matters if an experienced survivor plays against an inexperienced killer. And there it avoids an unneccesary advantage and bullying tool.

And bc some will argue with it:

    • experienced killer can lose hooks against flashlights, but its rare and other perks have so much more value
    • Lightborn can give free hits after pallet blinds, but good survivor learn their lesson quick, so not much value
  • That was exactly the problem. They dont want any perks which give extra bloodpoints or boost your bloodpoints. Like old BBQ, WGLF, Prove Thyself etc.

The reason is maybe bc the dont want to hinder perk variety or they cleaner pickrate data.

  • You should get every character you have on console with crossprogression. You keep everything on your account.

  • Dont play for the 4k. You realized that skill isnt really involved in the hatch/gate-game, so dont bother wasting your lifetime.

    Thanks for the info.

I just wish i could play the normal mode, but the que times are too high.

  • Not true. It was always like that. Before mmr, it was iri grade or hours. But even then people belittled others for that bc it was so easy to reach, that they preferred to talk about their winrate or even winstreaks.

But it didnt get worse, the forum is always the same. The same arguments, where everyone only cares for their own opinion, the same posts how killer are absolute op/devs are killersided, right next to the post who says survivor are op.

And of course also the posts how this game is dying, the community got worse/more toxic etc

It was like that three years ago, its now and it will always be.

  • If you can dominate the survivor there is a way.

Use PWYF, Agitation and Iron Grip. You obviously get 3 pwyf-stacks anyway. Then when the survivor cant win anymore and use lockers, take one and carry them far away from every locker (bonustrick: if you drop them over an hole they make less distance).

That still takes some time and the others could get out, so its needs to be an impossible game for them. And please use it once for the achievment and never again.

Recently reached Iri ranks and I can confirm at least 50% and probably more of my matches are filled with at least a 2 man constantly head on stun spamming or flash light saving anybody I try to chase/hook (no I can’t always face a wall, sometimes people go down where there aren’t any walls and I can’t avoid that, and flashlights are weird s heck because I’ve had multiple times where I’ve not even seen the beam of light yet got blinded anyway) and out of those games 45% are just denying me any pressure and the other 5% are the super altruistic ones where they follow me around all game then get downed like 2 seconds into chase or rinse every pallet in the first 3 minutes leaving their entire team defenseless. The amount of games I’ve had where end game was nothing but survivors running from broken pallet to broken pallet and having nothing to loop because they dropped everything immediately rather than looping is laughable.

At higher ranks (Gold+) I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t even do more than one rank per day or ill just get burnt out

You know that this rank (gold, iridescent) have absolutely zero impact on your matchmaking? Its a hidden mmr system and it varies from killer to killer. (Well all killer influence each other a bit)

So on a killer i have a lot of hours in, i get strong survivor even on ash rank and if i use some killer i dont play on iridescent i win even when i suck with the killer power.

  • I dont think so. Bc removing the shared progress, so your pc account has not the content of the first psn account is probably not possible. So if they allow it some people could duplicate accounts. (Not you, but some would abuse it)

well, because of that, make it actually be result of skill rather than just farm n spend BPs mechanic

But thats the main point of prestige in every game. You just show your hour count.

Now you could make something like a master badge. But how would you measure that in dbd? You can give me an really hard master challenge on any killer and i just play until matchmaking gives me four new/bad players to easily complete the challenge.

If a map spawns a perfect 3 gen like in those pictures and the killer decides to hold it, it's essentially impossible for a soloq team to break it, as they can't coordinate, which would be necessary.

This isn't a survivor issue, this is a map issue. Spawns like that simply shouldn't be allowed to happen.

It is not neccessary to coordinate. Against most killer i can break this 3 gens alone if the killer doesnt leave the 3-gen. (takes a lot longer). The only isssue with solo que is that they do stupid plays before im finished like getting slugged next to the gens or even all going down.

You just need to prerun and always heal. Healing can waste a lot of time if you need to find your teammates and yh thats annoying, but if not even that amount of coordination is possible in solo que its a skill issue.

Dont get me wrong there are a lot of matches where your solo-team will shatter against a 3 gen, but at this point the solution from the devs is good enough that its on the survivors.

On the other hand the tunneling and camping mechanics need some changes. Its a lot harder to them correctly than the easy anti-3-gen-solution.

  • @Langweilig said:

Honestly respect for escaping more than 50% of your matches.

Yep this kill rate target with 60% is a huge problem. They should really focus on a fun experience rather than favoring one side as much. I still don’t understand why they don‘t show us the kill rates with dcs.

60% has nothing to do with making it easier for killer. Its about the chances for all 5 results (0k, 1k, 2k, etc.)

The thing thats really easy for killer is to get a 1k even when they have no chance. Noed, good killer to camp, etc. and suddenly its a 1k with one down. That screws the data.

And at the opposite end its really easy to guarantee to guarantee a 4k if you already got the 3k (just slug Nr.3 instead of hooking and take your time to find Nr.4)

So the goal should be a 50/50 survivor win (0k, 1k) and killer win (3k/4k)

Dont get me wrong i would really like it if they change the slugging for 4k and the getting one kill even when doing nothing the entire match.

  • Its not very difficult to look back on console. What are you talking about? Its hard for new player (pc+console) bc they run into walls, but mechanically its not. Walking and looking in another direction is one of the basics of most games.

And the game is roughly the same. I have 3500 hours and there were always time where it wasnt that mich fun anymore. Its just happens, take a break and after some time it changes.

  • Yh it sucks, im still playing with the standard skin, bc there is nothing i like better. (Standard is like 7/10 for me, so not bad)

Maybe there will be one from the artist competition, bc you could do a lot of creative things with Unknown, but dont know if artists are interested in this killer.

Maybe the server isn't 100% with my internet I know I'm not changing my internet to counter a single killer. But maybe lockers can work downside is some maps just love having areas with no lockers aka a dredge players worse nightmare.

Lockers are a last resort kinda thing. They wont help a lot. If a nurse doesnt hit, the cooldown is shorter and she can easily wait and get you with the next blink at close range. (You should still do it, but dont rely on it)

You are the only person who is using the word "weak" here.

The point is that the Killer powers are stronger. And this cannot really be denied. (e.g. breaking a Pallet remotely is way stronger than putting up an Event Pallet)

In an 1vs1 for sure, but against more survivor? And im not talking about four survivors, so 1/4 the power.

Im talking about the option to get pallet saves everywhere. You could even combo it with Power Struggle/Flip-Flop, Unbreakable, etc., throw an Hawkins offering...

On the other hand you can use the pallet break to zone with one-shot-killers, so thats also very strong.

  • Screenshot_20240517_115404_Samsung Internet.jpg

I think the english Dev Update is a more viable source.

    So maybe its wrong translated.

  • I think survivors should just lose collision with the killer for some time after the unhook. Its still possible to tank a hit this way, but its a lot harder.

You dont understand OP. They are talking about the effect that wiggling is supposed to make the Killer strafe sideways when you hit the Great Skill Checks while wiggling.

    https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Wiggle#Succeeding_Skill_Checks

I dont know why there is even a negative effect for hitting the Good Skill Checks, but BHVR-things I guess.

    @Topic:

As others have said, wiggling is only supposed to make sure that the Killer cannot get to any Hook they like. And while you think it feels like they still reach any hook they want, this is just not the case. If there would be no wiggling, they could travel way further with you on their shoulder and reach a Scourge Hook (for example) 100% of the time. The Killer will most likely still get to a Scourge Hook with wiggling, but it might be possible that they dont. And this possibility (of not reaching the Hook they want) is at least there with wiggling.

    Furthermore, look at the numbers:

    https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Wiggle#Succeeding_Skill_Checks

Good Skill Checks reduce the side strafing effect to 50% and Great only increase it to 120%, making it 20% stronger than Base. That is not much so you should not really expect a big effect from it. If you want a big effect for wiggling, you have to run Boil Over (but dont, the Perk is bad).

For why this is even a thing - back in the day wiggling was not done via Skill Checks but via messhing two buttons (on PC) and I think on Controller it was using the stick very fast. This was changed at some point since it was an annoying mechanic to do and also was not really good on the hardware, at least on console. So they added Skill Checks, including a Great Skill Check-Zone. First this achieved that you can wiggle off a bit faster if you hit the Great Skill Check (1 second total if you hit all of them), but they changed it to the side strafe-effect being stronger or weaker. (In the end even wiggling off faster was totally fine and nearly nobody complained about it, but they still felt like changing it)

So yeah, just see BPs as the main reason to hit Great Skill Checks. The side strafing-effects are not worth it. And in the end, wiggling is only supposed to limit the decision making of the Killer a bit and NOT to make you wiggle free on a regular basis.

I understand the op. Neaxolotl explained that wiggling is just restricting where you can hook. Then OP replied that even then it doesnt do its job bc the strafe-effect is barely a factor. So i explained (like moputopia but their comment was faster) that it means the time limit and not the strafe.

Even if it's just meant to make it harder for the killer to move you to a hook, it doesn't do that job well at all either. More often than not, I'll face a killer who isn't using a perk to limit how much wiggling affects them, and yet my wiggling does nothing. They move like they're not being obstructed. Like, in my personal experiences, it's a pointless function.

No, its not about making it more difficult to move. The function of wiggling is to give the killer a time limit to hook. So he cant bring you always to a good hook like basement, near to a gen he wants to defend etc.

  • Great perk. Got a triple hit with unknown.

  • For starters its important that you play every match with the same killer. I get most of the time good survivor as Unknown (30-40 games with 80-90 winrate) but at the same time weak survivor with my old mains which i play once per month.

Now for your question: 30-40 games were enough for Unknown but i didnt start from the base value. So hard to say how much it would be for a completely new player.

Lastly the definition of high mmr is important. Im talking about the mmr cap, the point where my matches didnt get much harder anymore. There is still a long way to go and other player have vastly higher mmr. But you can play against those players when you reached the cap.

And even on this point you cant say this or that works against good survivor bc i still get matches with bad players.

On a side note" counting the wins is a bit difficult. Point gain depends on the rating of the opponent and as killer you can win with 3 or 4 kills. As survivor you get more points when others escape with you.

  • You can know its unbreakable bc you see the faster recovery speed in the hud. But yh most people dont notice it.

An icon for having an self-unhook (anti-vamp or deliverance) would be great.

You could show it before the match, but that would maybe increase lobby dodging.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/397372/god-i-wish-trapper-had-a-decent-rework

Right now I am trying a Trapper winstreak, copycating Otz with his impressiv 50. I just finished game number 12. Long way to go. 😁

Trapper is and was always a mixed bag for me. He can be super frustrating when all your traps get disarmed one by one or when your 500IQ trap wont work since the survivor is not smart enough to tun into that trap ;-)

On the other hand, for example during my last game i had one of those amazing rare moments with 3 people at the same time in a trap (NO Honing stone) und you feel like a complete genius. Or when you force the playfield to the side where you have preped and all goes as planned.

Trapper will not be able to comepte with a strong tournament team, probably even strugles against a very strong pub team, but that is completly fine. He is what he is, and he is good in what he is doing.

I like him as he is right now, all i am asking are some minor map changes.

Out of curiosity, whats your build?

  • With your pretext about bias, entitlement etc, i wouldnt have expected some of your takes.

For example i would list bubbas (and some other killer) camping potential as unhealthy, but listing the power as a whole is biased.

Its similar to artists, knights etc gameplay loop of holding w and leaving loops, where i can understand its unfun for some, but this things dont fall under unfair or unhealthy.

Hud changes: really? If a player cant use it he doesnt want to get better or simply cant. How do you want encourage this players? And its great if good players get closer to swf.

    For my points:

Power struggle and Flipflop in a swf. Its funny, but i dont think the killer liked it.

Buckle up and for the people. One of my friends uses it and its great against tunneler and camper, but its so easy to deny a down.

Bloodlust 3 feels unfair for solo que (swf can bodyblock). Killer loses the game but the chased survivor cant do anything.

There are some more (mostly addons), but that would take too long.

The default controls on console are hideous. On a gen, you are holding down circle, whilst pressing R1 for skill checks, whilst trying to look around with the right stick. How is that remotely optimal? Does the playtesting team consist of squid-human hybrids? How does anyone play like that? You'd need two thumbs on your right hand to utitlise that control scheme effectively.

I just got wrecked last match because vault, heal self, and enter void are all on the same button. So once I tried to vault but there was a void right there so I interacted with it instead and got wrecked, and another time I was trying to go through a portal, but instead I started self-healing and got wrecked.

I had similar problems on Twisted Masquerade.

Devs: as a fun design challenge on the next event, try to add things that don't use buttons that are already used for other common actions.

You can have different buttons for vaulting and healing. But healing and portal is always the same button (except healing with a medkit)

  • First of you can do what you want.

This. Mind games aren’t how you catch a survivor, they’re a way to catch a survivor faster. If killers could loop as effectively as survivors, they would need to be nerfed to be only as fast as survivors. Otherwise kill rates would be even more lopsided in favor of killers than they already are.

If there was something as fundamental as looping or tile design with significant unbalance in the game, killers wouldn’t be doing as well as they have been in the latest released stats.

The fundamental unbalance is only for m1-killer against survivor, who are good. So only for a few. Thats why you dont see it in the stats.

Its not fair, but with over 30 killer, you can just choose another.

  • If both sides got nerfed and one side still continues to use the nerfed perks, it must not mean that the nerf was not enough. Maybe there are just not good enough alternatives.

They can easily replace dead hard with MFT, but what should they use instead of corrupt?

  • It depends if you want to proxy-camp or use your time while the survivor is on the hook.

If you dont proxy-camp sloppy helps to get back in time and then to destroy all healing progress.

Hex: Plaything can also make it easier to tunnel, you could even pretend to go for the unhooker and then switch and the tunneled survivor is out of position. If you only chase him, its worthless.

Coup the grace helps you in chase. You can even play around some pallets where the survivor think its safe.

  • Only resilience, for Spine Chill it was only the old version.

Are you really trying to unlock the killers with shards? That is commendable. I have more than 2k hours in the game and I think even I wouldn't be through, had I bought all original killers with shards. Nowadays I can do it because I already own all the killers and in 3 months I can easily get 9k shards.

But you are right that it shouldn't be this bad. We already pay for the game and unlocking stuff with shards just takes forever. I can understand that they don't want us to buy all original content with shards but this is getting a bit out of hand. Especially when you consider, that shards are used to unlock characters, cosmetics and even perks from the shrine.

A bit more than 2k hours could be enough. I bought every non-licensed-killer with shards, many survivor (some perks are from the shrine), some outfits (roughly 30k shards), have 50k shards left and i have 3k hours.

  • Nah, atleast doing it repeatedly meant killer is camping. I dont change that.

With the Hud-system you mostly know when nobody is coming.
