  • I think I've decided, OH well.

I'll just deal with it. I don't care anymore.

  • @Midori_21 said:

You don't HAVE to play solo, you realize that right? It's not hard to find people to play with if solo survivor is bothering you so much (as it does with most people).

    I know.

    My issues are two things:

    • My friends kinda hate DBD. The ones that stomach it to play with me often prefer to troll around, which doesn't really help me. I enjoy playing games to win, that IS the fun of games for me. (That's the point of having rules and objectives, and calling it a game in the first place.)
    • I don't much like the idea of searching online for like-minded players to get on a Disc with, and all that business... I'm not a perfect player, and I know I'm not great at looping. I don't really feel like hearing some angry yelling about random stuff. (I've pugged enough Wow arenas to know how it tends to go.) I also have to say, I can't STAND general Survivor complaints, with the tunnel this and camp that. I usually chime in to defend the Killers, and that gets even my friends mad at me, let alone random strangers.

    I dunno. Just sayin'...

  • Also...

The sheer fact that, if we knew the criteria, we could game it out, and focus on the system rather than the game itself... How does that NOT exactly declare that the system is misaligned to the actual game? (Also, how is that not what the pip system already promoted?)

ONCE again, for the 100th time, making Survivors share ALL points with each other would solve SO. MANY. THINGS.

  • I never got carried.

Well - lol, we've all been carried, but you know what I mean.

I performed the best on my solo teams (point-wise and logically) probably at least 80% of the time. Probably over 90%, to be honest.

Those games felt good. Even if my teammates felt worse than me, they still at least got things done, knew what was going on, knew how to handle things, etc. Most of the time, anyway, of course.

I did not get carried. That's just the reality.

However, I was a much fresher player than most playing DBD. Among all these 3k+ hour gamers, I'm at like 450. Three digits. So I have not had the same 5 years of MMR data gathering.

And so, while everyone else has had all these years of building MMR while the system placed similar RANKED people against them, I'm still pretty much Baby Status as far as the MMR system goes. I have minimal MMR "farming" during the RANKED matchmaking.

    And so... Here we are.

The game basically wants me to play another 5 years to catch up to the average player data -- if we pretended everyone else paused for the next 5 years, btw.

Sure, I could go play Killer and probably get my MMR normalized relatively quickly. But I'm talking about Solo Survivor.

Where 3 actual newbies can feed and ragequit, and you're left wondering how to 1v1 a Killer and get out with a positive MMR gain. (You can't.)

But you know what, whatever. I've overexplained this. People either get it or they don't by now.

  • Sorry, I should say...

Solo Survivor is just dead now.

  • Well, you can do 12 gens' worth of progression and the system thinks you're a god, but in reality, none got finished because you had to keep leaving them, which got them Ruined down every time.

Meanwhile, the guy that looks around for a few minutes and finally finds the Ruin totem gets almost no points, lmao. The system thinks they're trashy.

  • Having to handle the chain event so much during a game is really crippling.

I think people are going to find that he's one of the best Killers.

  • Yeah but that's a fine tradeoff. Hexes are kind of throwing the game to RNG as it is, I always hate running hexes.

  • Seems like an insane perk if it has no core totem.

I still can't get over the "you survivors" thing.

If they play killer, but playing killer stresses them out this much.. like, what do you want me to say?

We can't fix the game. People who can BM, will-- It's up to BHVR to actually make DbD an enjoyable experience for everyone.

All I can do is recommend the healthiest option.

    Well, here's the thing...

BM'ing is one thing. BHVR may or may not ban people that do it, blah blah blah.

... ... ... But - real talk - if the game wasn't so easy for SWF's or generally decent players, then there'd be less BM'ing that way, too, because BM'ing tends to come from people getting wins all the time. It inflates their ego, they start to think they're better than they are, and the 4v1 nature of the game means they rarely eat their own words. They're very safe & secure when they BM. And that's a balance thing.

Imagine a 4v1 in CSGO, and how much BM'ing there would be from the 4 side. But take that away, make it the regular 5v5 that it is, and you end up with a fraction of the BM'ing situations. (That is, across to the other team. Still BM'ing among teammates, of course, lmao.)

  • @CornHub said:

Imo if a game is causing you to have these kinda rants, I'd stop playing. It just doesn't sound fun if one game is causing this much frustration.

Yes but the point is... Everyone is bullying Killers, and then saying things like, "Stop playing."

Is this what you Survivors really want? To push all Killers out of the game? They're ALREADY doing you a service every game, allowing 4 people to have fun at the expense of that 5th person playing the sucker role.

What happens when nobody wants to be the sucker anymore?

  • Upvoted.

I'll say it over and over:

This game is becoming GTA Online.

Sorry I'm trying to figure out who asked.

I mean, go ahead and play like 99% of red ranks do. You're not exactly doing something novel here

Your wooshy, short-sighted post totally misses the point.

More and more Killers are tired of trying to "play nice for the Survivor's experience" because the Survivors never return the favor. They're the most self-centered crowd in all of video gaming. And your self-centered, oblivious post illustrates this.

  • You're upset that your thread didn't produce some kind of outrage that you were hoping for?

    lmao

  • Okay, and it seems that that is indeed applied on the Wiki. So, yes, you are correct!

    Thanks guys, lol.

  • No, I mean, I was under the impression that addons no longer give percentage values, and now give flat values instead. Like for example, instead of, "Increases range by 20%," it'll be, "Increases range by 4 meters."

  • I didn't know that - although, if your screenshot is from just now, I know that percentage values were removed from addons, and were given flat values for simplicity. So meh :(

  • I already have this bookmarked, but it doesn't have addon information.

  • I think my biggest problem on Oni is that I can't seem to curve my dash like I see others do.

I see people take turns 90 degrees or more & whatnot. But when I play, I can't really manage much past 45 degrees or so. I even use a turn left/right hotkey, combined with mouse turning, and even combined with strafing in the other direction to try to make it wider. Doesn't seem to do enough for me. So I don't know what I'm missing, and this mobility really seems like the missing element for me.

  • @Rey_512 said:

Reduce DS to 40 seconds and it’ll be fine. That’s plenty of immunity time.

I can agree. I keep saying 30 seconds, but 40 would probably work out too.

...counter tunneling. Actually work when being tunneled, rather than punishing a player who plays well while being tunneled directly off the hook with being deactivated by the time they're picked up.

    But do go off. (:

Yes, "do go off," very popular buzz phrase these days. +1 pip to you for slamming me hard with it.

So you're saying that, after being unhooked, you had time to get into a chase and loop for 60 seconds, thus being downed and DS is now inactive.

So, they either didn't camp you... Or BT served enough of an anti-tunnel force to buy you that 60+ second chase...

You realize how many gens can get done in three different instances of 60 second chases? Hint: More than 1 game's worth of gens.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

Mmr will address SWF just fine.

I don't think so, cuz then you can inflate your MMR when you play with friends, but this will mean you will lose your solo queues for a while afterwards. It would be wonky.

There are a lot of ways to fix the SWF problem. One of which is making SWF games a separate ranking ladder (for both sides). But probably keeping it the same queue, to avoid ruined queue times.

I've also suggested that there be an option (that starts enabled) deciding whether you face against SWF's or not. Making it default enabled would mean MOST players wouldn't bother disabling it, if they even read patch notes at all. However, those that REALLY wanna avoid SWF's would be able to.

And those are just changes that don't even rebalance the game at all. There are also multiple ways to rebalance the actual game, and in my opinion, the game should be balanced around SWF's because that's the reality we're in.

Currently, a public team of 4 skilled solo queuers is still very tough for a good Killer to beat. So I see no issue with balancing around SWF's.

than eat the stun earlier before endgame if you don’t wanna get hit by it later in the match. That’s the only way you’re gonna play around DS.

    LMFAO WHAT.

How is this even a valid response.

An active DS during EGC is active at this time because they were rescued at that time. You can't "choose to eat it earlier" than this situation is happening.

IN FACT, your suggestion of "eating the stun earlier" IS LITERALLY a suggestion to tunnel this person as soon as possible so that you don't have DS's in end game.

    YOU SURVIVORS ARE SO....................

    Just lmao.........

  • @SunderMun said:

No. If anything, it's too weak for its actual purpose. It needs to actually be able to counter tunneling rather than a perk that one can use for immunity to waste a killer's time.

Just because you got downed after being unhooked doesn't mean you got tunneled. It USUALLY means you're just bad at hiding, and bad at looping.

Actually, it USUALLY does mean you got tunneled.

"Proxy tunneler" doesn't even make sense

Actually, it makes perfect sense. I'm a different poster and I understand exactly what they mean.

I, too, love to start and end my arguments with, "I'm a different poster and I understand exactly what they mean."

DS not deactivating when opening an exit gates is really an oversight by the devs and should be changed, yeah.

About the healing, instead of deactivating it when you heal yourself just a fraction of a second, it should deactivate when you are fully healed (by yourself OR by others). If you had time to heal up, you are not tunneled, so you don't need the ds protection. So no more jumping into locker heathy to force the ds on the killer. As a compensation, you can heal in the killers face without loosing it.

    @Pepsidot said:

Ds is fine. In fact I think a QOL buff to remove the skill check and simply escape the killers grasp would be good.

I'd say when I equip DS, most games it's never used. So it's usually a waste of a perk slot, but it is comforting at least. There shouldn't be a requirement to hit a skill check when you are actually able to use it IMO.

I agree with both of these, however, as someone who despises DS. I'm able to be objective about this.

DS shouldn't really have a skill check, or at the very least, it should be a fat skill check (like the first one during phase 2 hook) to serve more as like a... "Do you want to use this?"

And it should deactivate once fully healed, by anyone, but not deactivate when a heal is started. I also agree with this.

However, I still believe its 60 second duration is way too long. Most of the time when I get DS'd, I already downed and hooked somebody else, and the person with an active DS gets in my face so I take the free down and try to pick them up... Like, I legit already forgot about this other guy. That's how long it's been, and how much has happened since then.

DS serves way more functionality than anti-tunneling at 60 seconds. That's just factual.

  • @Artemisha said:

People complaining about DS = tunnelers.

A lot of games I wish I was wearing DS. The amount of proxy tunnelers these days is extremely high.

I also agree with some people that said self heal shouldn´t deactivate your DS, or you shouldn´t leave scratchmarks on floor for a short time. When u are facing a tunneler is very risky trying to cure the unhooked guy, because killer will come back in seconds. So if the DS user is able to scape, and try to stay safe with a selfcure, he is eliminating his only life insurance. And that shouldn´t be like this.

People defending DS = bad loopers.

    See how easy this is?

Just because you got downed after being unhooked doesn't mean you got tunneled. It USUALLY means you're just bad at hiding, and bad at looping. TWO different elements that would have saved you the trouble in the first place, where you're running DS to fix your weakness.

The game shouldn't force the Killer to go easier on bad players just because they might run the crutch perk DS. Borrowed Time gives you 12 seconds, that's MORE than enough time. Do you honestly need 60???

"Proxy tunneler" doesn't even make sense. You're just vomiting out random combinations of buzzwords you hear other people say when they die.

    Holy actual #########.

This is prime Survivor posting, ladies & gentlemen.

  • @jamally093 said:

So if you don't know because you haven't delt with a slugger or a major slugger before turns out survivors when left on the ground for x amount of time will slowly lose wiggle progress they gained may i ask why though.

It's actually one of the few mechanics that's in a good place right now. The amount of time needed to wait to get X amount of wiggle depleted is a long wait, which is very Survivor friendly. I'd say, if anything, the wiggle progression needs to regress faster than it currently does. But it's needed so few & far between, that it can stay the way it is just fine.

Slugging is an important strategy. Trying to have it deleted is just more Survivor Lobbying.

  • @Shaped said:

I can understand flashlights, they are useful, interactive and can be fun. Everything else I find really uneccessary and not appealing at all.

If I play survivor a lot I also just sit at max bp.

But if I play killer I want add ons all the time and never feel like playing without them even if they are not that good.

I hate Survivor bloodwebs because they're so addon cluttered, while Survivor also gets a lot less BP. You can go so many webs without even finding what you wanna play.

Ultimately, this means the best way to do it is to have a handful of setups you play, and that makes more bloodwebs useful. But I can't be bothered.

I basically just play Emergency Medkits, because when I run out, I can play Pharmacy a few games and get some more.

  • Cool! I'll pop it on now and play a game, see what happens.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

It's still easily abusable as expected. Sure, you can't do a gen or heal or do a totem. But you can flashlight save, body block, jump in a locker, open an exit, etc. If they'd only made it to where the killer hooking someone else deactivated DS, like we all asked for, this perk wouldn't be a problem.

Yes, 100%. I've said this many times, didn't know it was a popular opinion.

  • DS has no business being 60 seconds. That's not tunneling anymore. You can chase and down a whole different person, then come back and smack this guy that's waving his balls in your face and try to pick him up, and DERP you get DS'd and you're left wondering, "When did I even hook this guy, I don't even remember, it's been so long."

I don't care if it used to be BETTER. Such arguments are fallacies in this discussion.

Currently, it exceeds its intended purpose of "anti-tunnel". It actually becomes a weapon after a point. And 60 seconds is absurd. Just slug them? Okay buddy. 60 seconds is 75% of a generator being solo'd with no items.

If you don't wanna be tunneled, don't be the weak link. If you ARE the weak link, accept it and die.

Run DS if BT somehow isn't enough time for you.

But if 60 seconds ALSO isn't enough time for you, it's WAY beyond the point of being a You Problem. At that point, I think you should probably see a doctor.

    ----------

DS could easily be 30 seconds, and it would serve its purpose still. And maybe at that point, its window for being weaponized would disappear.

  • Well I'm using the beam in a "meme" Thrill of the Hunt build, where I protect my totems with its range. It's SUPER hard for Survivors to get my totems down. (Of course, this build comes with obvious issues, but still, it's fun, and really effective against non-SWF's.)

  • I've seen the videos.

    "Mindgame them."

    LMAO

    No, LT's are insanely overpowered.

Just because you get 4k's against newbies doesn't take away from this. Everyone always thinks they're good when they win. Nobody stops and says, "Well, I only won because they kept throwing themselves at me."

Get a 4k in a game where a Survivor literally never ran towards you, and let me know.

  • Just because you don't agree with it doesn't make it bait.

  • @ezrank1 said:

How can people say that it's only the top 99.99% when SBMM was hell to play for rank 1 high win rate players. Even streamers struggled, it was an eye-opening experience into the state of the game. And it's not like we played the same people over and over. It was different teams every game. Once you hit rank 1 on killer there's no incentive to play it much anymore. A critical part of the game that no one wants to play and god forbid if you actually get a game that you would be grateful as survivor - especially if you lose.

And it's funny, people complain about this because they LOVE the game and what it could be. But survivors are happy because it's easy, and it really is. If you lose to a killer they probably didn't beat you. You beat yourself because you have everything you need to consistently win.

    This 100%.

I frequently rant about how this game COULD be so much better, but it's being built around this business model that "4 people having fun at the expense of a dumb 5th person" is mathematically smart.

And hey, I guess it is, honestly.

But it COULD be so much better. But most people don't WANT that.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2463273#Comment_2463273

Again, why should survivors be the only ones that get a way out when the game becomes a miserable experience?

Because right now, survivors are doing exactly that. Abuse their easy way out, when things don't go as they want.

Killers always have to stay until the survivors are either dead or gone.

Additionally, Survivors can ragequit a game, which makes the Killer unable to plus pip. HOWEVER, the ragequit only affects the DC'd Survivor, so the other 3 can still plus pip, despite the Killer's inability to do so.

(Yes, sure, the Killer still technically can, but the likelihood plummets. You are more likely NOT to, and that's garbage.)

  • Yes, that's a big culprit, lol.

Also, well - you see - I've been playing Survivor, lol.

I have ALSO been playing a bit more Killer, but with addons now. Previously, I literally never played with addons. Much more stressful.

Now, I still get stressful games, sometimes often, depending on the day. But overall, addons are another layer of building, and I really enjoy building builds.

(Does kinda suck that I have to run BBQ in every build now though, just to try to sustain addons.)

Killer games are still much more stressful than Survivor games.

Especially if you compare the extreme cases from both sides. Being camped and tunneled - which is mostly just your own inability to loop well - is FAR less stressful than 4 Survivors bullying you all game.

  • Wow, exactly what I wanted! Thanks :)

  • It annoys me. I'm here to play out a game.

Especially if I brought items and addons or something, or wanted to test out a build. It's just a huge waste of my time.

I would legitimately rather lose any kind of actual match than have to sit through a "friendly farm game".

  • Cool, another 4k turned into a 0k because of a lag switcher.

Nah, just a coincidence, I'm sure.

  • @Rey_512 said:

They could remove the hook aspect of it and make it like Pyramid Head’s power in a way…

After a hook, the survivor goes into a “waiting realm” (the duration of one hook state). Once the real duration is over, they spawn on the map far from the killer and need to be “saved back” into the game but the killer can’t see the aura (like PH’s cages). This also has a time limit - if the survivor doesn’t get saved they go into their second hook state / waiting realm for another hook state duration. If they don’t get saved a 3rd time then they die like how it is currently.

This pretty much removes the camping hook aspect out of the game entirely.

I was wondering about something like this, actually. But between trying to make it still make sense lore-wise, have it not feel forced, AND then making Pyramid still maintain a unique variant of it, and some other elements even still...

It's hard to think of how to do it.

Besides, if some one is gonna cheat in this game theyre gonna be blatant or give themselves a save file. This game is not competitive enough to give themselves the slighest speed boost to give themselves an edge

Your own opinion and stance towards the game is not everyone's.

It happens a lot if you stumble these type of killers. most killers wanna enjoy the game and show their skill in chases, which is the way this game should be played. if said killer wants to stand still after his only down, fine, but let him suffer some punishments for it.

    He does get punished.

Just because some teams fails to punish doesn't mean the GAME should force the punish itself.

We'll again make a comparison to another game.

If you're playing CSGO and you miss your shot in a gunfight, you get punished by being shot yourself.

But if a player fails to punish you for you missing your shot, should THE GAME auto-kill you because your opponent failed to punish your mistake???

The way DBD players behave is worlds apart from any other game. It truly is a phenomenon, and I would pay good money for a professional documentary & analysis...

  • My comparisons are actually pretty good. Not perfect, but what's gonna be perfect?

Someone's "experience being ruined" has basically no weight whatsoever. People's experience gets ruined just by getting M1'd, the amount of ######### anyone should give about an experience being ruined is none.

1 2 3 4 … 6
