Eh, if I am being honest, I wouldn't be upset if the exhaustion add-ons were changed so that exhaustion caused by any of those add-ons could deplete while running (though exhaustion caused by exhaustion perks would not deplete while running).

Easiest solution to the EGC thing: Revert the nerf and then make it so the EGC timer pauses while someone is wearing an RBT

Tunneling is a viable strategy until survivors start to realize the game isn't fun when you're being targeted and move on to something better and you'll be twiddling your thumbs in the lobby thinking "Why are the queues so bad BHVR?!"
If you want the lifetime of this game to last longer you should be thinking about the fun of other people. I play fair because I like the game and want to be able to play it for many years to come.
Food for thought: If a viable strategy is causing players to leave the game, whose fault is it in the end? The party employing the viable strategy, the party on the receiving end, or the devs for allowing such a strategy to exist?

Simple. Players need 2 keys and the addon's that change the number of boxs are changed to not do that. Besides amandas lettter, that one's fine.
Any 2 keys will work and they are reusable.
Bam, no RNG and no camping.
Forgive me if I am a little confused. Are you saying that Survivors need to find two keys in the Jigsaw Boxes, or that they need to find one of two keys?

The devs could answer faster and more precisely than I. Wouldn't it be nice if they did so for once?
So...no source?

@ArecBalrin said:
The issue is not that the Billy-boxes can get the RBT off the first time, however the odds work.
The issue is the devs gave a rare but clear design-intent statement for the Pig and then once again U-turned on it. The point of her ability was that it was supposesd to turn survivors against each other: the RBT is activated by a gen being completed. This is an event which should be certainly perilous for a survivor trapped in one, but it isn't. The devs gave it an overly-generous timer and then had it so that timer paused in a chase, but it's not clear if it's the same chase we know of or a different measure to the one that constantly ceases for killers when a survivor is just feet away or still in LoS.
Even after that U-turn, they nerfed it so it now won't go off unless it has already been activated. They did a similar thing with the hilariously-long timer for EGC, which also slows when it conveniences the survivor.

Sure, I'd be okay with that. Personally, I'd like it if the already-active Traps didn't deactivate when the Hatch is closed (though an inactive trap would stay inactive if the Hatch is closed, so they can still escape through the Exit Gate), but I'm willing to trade active Traps after closing the Hatch for Traps not being useless after the last gen is done.

Honestly I think the downsides of fine it kind of switches her power to be more ambush focused than trap focused it just needs a lot more of a bonus then it has to come back the down sides.
Because right now the downstairs you get far outweigh the benefits.
For example increasing the Range to 20 or 24 m instead of 12. To effectively use the add-on you would have to crouch quite frequently which makes you lose a lot of map pressure and the range of provides you with is kind of of crappy this will help you plan out ahead of time I'm as you could see a lot earlier.
Or you could also so tremendously increased her crouch movement speed
If they add additional upsides to off-set the downsides to make it useable in more places, I would certainly be okay with that. As is, it is only really usable in two maps.

I disagree about Amanda's Letter. It is one her best add-ons if used correctly. Amanda's secret needs to be changed as well as Rules Set #2.
It is bad on all but, like, two maps (Lehry's and The Game). There is no reason it needs to have those downsides. Without them, it would be a decent bit better. I agree on Secret and RSN2, though.

i have 2 solutions for this issue
- Pause the RBT timer when standing within 32m near the killer, (the 32m is not the terror radius, just a fixed number cuz pig can crouch and her terror radius will be 0 but the trap will pause when within 32m no matter what perks you use to decrease or increase the terror radius)
- . Make it so that you have to at least search 2 boxes instead of all 4, the pig cant camp 2 boxes cuz they will be too far, however this can be exploited using amanda's letter, meaning if they're gonna apply this change they'll have to rework amanda's letter. (tbh this add on is already bad and needs a rework either way xd)
even if bhvr doesn't agree with these changes pig still lacks power just like the majority of killers do in red ranks, it's unbelievable how many killers become weak and only 3 are viable
Suggestion 1 makes the RBT garbage IMO. Suggestion 2 is one I am personally advocating for myself. I also think Amanda's Letter should be changed to lose the downsides as well.
-
I was just ranting about this exact thing to my friend last night. It boggles my mind how many people overcomplicate how they think it works.
@Clockso said:

so if a killer camps a box the survivor dies from the trap, if a killer camps a hook the survivor dies by the entity, basically when they camp they ensure a kill, but waste a ######### ton of time, they could make it so that the trap pauses when near the killer
The problem is that she doesn't have to camp until the Survivor has searched three boxes. So once they are at the fourth box, you get them away by any means necessary and then sit there until they die.
Plus, what happens if you have multiple people with traps on and the same box they need to search? Suddenly camping one box kills multiple people. Is that good game design? I don't think so. If you want to make them have to guarantee search X number of boxes to get the trap off, you have to make sure the number of boxes available is greater than X.
@PolarBear said:
I would honestly be fine if they changed it so the key can never be in the last box if it also could never be in the first box. The point of the RBT is not to kill, it is to stall the game and getting the trap off in the first box takes all that away from the Pig.
The problem is that making it so you only have to search two or three boxes limits the amount of pressure it puts on a Survivor to do the boxes in a timely manner. Why do I have to take my time away from the gens ASAP if I know I never have to search four boxes? At worst, I look at one, and if I fail, I just do gens before I gotta search the other two.

Issue is, the Pig is only one person; The Legion is in lore multiple people
To be fair, IMO there's no real reason super special cosmetic skins should really care about the lore, as they are just that: super special cosmetic skins that aren't really canon. The devs would just have to make sure they stay within the realms of reason. In the case of licensed characters, it's technically a different story since the license holders might care, but if you can get them on board, I say you're good to go.
-
...Quen-teen? Is that, like, a new map or something?
-
Someone correct me if I am wrong: Wasn't this exact idea already tried in the past, and it was quickly scrapped because Survivors abused the hell out of it?
-
@TheGorgon said:
I advocate this idea, though remember, they stopped making splinters for killers a while back. No harm in bringing them back though
Is there a splinter for Ghostface?
EDIT: According to the wiki, there is not.
-
To be fair, nothing apart from licensing issues and extra effort in recording audio is stopping them, since Legion shows that they can do male and female body types for the same Killer provided they are comparable.
That being said, as a Pig player, I'm indifferent to a male Pig skin.

@Hagging_Trapper @TAG disregard point 3 then, I misunderstood how the whole thing worked with Jigsaw boxes.
With point 1, I saw it as a punishment if a team decides to gen rush while a teammate is trapped. I do see the slight flaw in it though with the possible Pig tunneling. Point 2 does now seem a bit too much now looking at it again. Also, it could lead to potential tunneling as well.
4 and 5 though seem practical in my opinion. 4 is just so you can go into insta-crouch like Ghost Face. 5 is to make a better use of the dash attack, because it is almost useless unless you mindgame around a small pallet loop.
Of your ideas, 4 and 5 are the ones I am most on board with.

its not exploit, if you want you can revert my exhaustion nerf, pick your poison
That's not how that works. It is an exploit. This is fact.

Happening to me on PS4.
-
1) As I have explained in another thread, I dislike this idea because doing the gens is still the correct answer (at least, to 99%) since not doing them means the Pig can crouch tunnel the Trapped Survivor until they die.
2) This means that with three alerts, the Pig will know which box to camp so that the Survivor guarantee dies. Bad design.
3) Huh? I don't follow. There is no RNG with Trap removal. Only one box chosen randomly has the correct key.
4) I don't see the harm in this. Unless I am missing something.
5) I think you can do it to right before she attacks rather than right after she starts to attack, but I am largely okay with this.

Dude, omg, its the killer who takes the hatch hostage and just stands guard over it. You know why? Because they are afraid to lose a survivor so they just stand over it like babies forcing the standoff. If you don't want a standoff then grow a pair and chase the survivor. Stop trying to act like the survivor is the one at fault here. Smh
Why does the Survivor not leave the Hatch to do gens?

Well, what is the answer to the question?
@MySpaceBarsBroken said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/585154#Comment_585154
I agree with your reasoning. I dislike anything that incentivizes players to abandon their teammates to play selfishly, which the old hatch did in comparison. But that's just players being selfish, which still happens all the time.
However, The survivor makes a lot of sound which the killer can use to create some security then go in visual range of a gen to make sure hes not being made a fool.
My only point is that it was more exciting and interesting. Even on killer side. Not about survivors ethics or why the hatch was introduced in the first play, or games being held hostage (which btw is only possible if both killer and survivor are lazy/bad) it just happened too much that they changed it.
You're telling me, as a killer, lapping from door to door 12 times until you see red lights. That's fun?
Are you saying that it was fun for Killers to be forced to wait for Survivors to move away if they don't want to lose the Hatch?
-
@MySpaceBarsBroken said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/585151#Comment_585151
Interesting and easy solution. But I wish they would incorporate the gens in to somehow replicate that type of play we used to have with the hatch
You seem to be under the impression that Hatch Standoffs were anything other than both players doing nothing the vast majority of the time. Why is this?
-
Tell that to Dead Rising.

The old hatch wasnt perfect but it is much better than what we have now, in terms of interesting gameplay. Not ending games faster or killers deserving a free kill because they managed to get the other 3.
The last survivor should be the hardest to catch.

Why the hatch exists is irrelevant. The effects of what the hatch adds to the game are important. And as both killer and survivor, old hatch stand offs were more enjoyable and allowed more expansive style play which I believe is universally more enjoyable than either no hatch, or door standoffs.
"A suggestion might be... once the hatch is spawned open with 1 survivor left, the killer has to go and 'disable' each generator remaining before being able to close it."
The advantage is supposed to go to whoever finds the Hatch first, not the Survivor 100% of the time.

Agreed. Door standoffs are exponentially less interesting and fun compared to hatch standoffs.
Once the hatch is shut, there is no chance of escape and the game is just drawn out for 2 minutes with end game. If you're lucky, it's a killer with no fast travel abilities, and the doors are random generated very far from each other. In which case the killer just stands on the hatch until he sees you then closes it in your face.
Old hatch standoffs kept a killer on his toes, a survivor struck with fear. And so many awesome games have happened due to the mind games involving hatch standoffs. Left behind used to be a perk.
99ing the last 2 gens while the killers paranoia stinks in as he rigorously circles the hatch. Then ding, ding. Now the killer has to worry about the doors too, giving the survivor a real and earned chance.
"Old hatch standoffs kept a killer on his toes, a survivor struck with fear."
I just stood on the Hatch.

You should demonstrate your claim to be true by making something on the level of the winners of the contest.

What about this- remove her from the game entirely because her abilities might as well read "ignore every mechanic designed in the game". She benefits from every survivor nerf and ignores every general killer nerf. Her terror radius might as well be 0 since it just doesnt matter since she can be anywhere in an 80m distance in .1 second. Saying her lunge is broken and overpowered is a huge understatement.
IF ANYTHING. She should have a black screen no vision while teleporting. Her distance needs to be nerfed. And her terror radius should increase while she is charging, the more she charges the bigger the terror radius. There should be some kind of brief animation at the location she teleports to, before she just appears there.
She should also auto-finish a generator each time she blinks. Oh, and each blink costs 1000 auric cells.
