Hatch and Exit gates

Killers shouldn't be able to close the hatch. All they have to do is close hatch and run between the two exit gates that are right beside each other.

  • After having so long where killers COULDNT close the hatch and instead had to just search the whole map for a survivor who no longer had to work on gens, which was like finding a needle in a haystack...The hatch closing was a huge improvement. Dont gotta deal with hatch standoffs either, so yay.

  • Nah, its a really dumb idea. I understand that you are happy about it cause it means you get an easy 4pc but at the end of the day its still a really dumb idea. The devs need to reverse it.

  • The hatch ONLY exists because survivors would refuse to play if they were the only one left and would instead drag a lost game out for as long as they could. You don't get a free win for actively losing the game. You get the opportunity to win if you're lucky/clever but that's it. By that point you've squandered your advantages. Be lucky you're still given 2 potential ways out

  • If you don't want a hostage situation then don't take the hatch hostage. Wow you killer mains make the cringiest of comments. Y'all literally get every advantage and still whine. You know what happens now? The killer closes the hatch and camps the two exit gates meaning the last survivor can't do anything. But that's what y'all wanted in the first place isn't it.

Agreed. Door standoffs are exponentially less interesting and fun compared to hatch standoffs.

Once the hatch is shut, there is no chance of escape and the game is just drawn out for 2 minutes with end game. If you're lucky, it's a killer with no fast travel abilities, and the doors are random generated very far from each other. In which case the killer just stands on the hatch until he sees you then closes it in your face.

Old hatch standoffs kept a killer on his toes, a survivor struck with fear. And so many awesome games have happened due to the mind games involving hatch standoffs. Left behind used to be a perk.

99ing the last 2 gens while the killers paranoia stinks in as he rigorously circles the hatch. Then ding, ding. Now the killer has to worry about the doors too, giving the survivor a real and earned chance.

Why the hatch exists is irrelevant. The effects of what the hatch adds to the game are important. And as both killer and survivor, old hatch stand offs were more enjoyable and allowed more expansive style play which I believe is universally more enjoyable than either no hatch, or door standoffs.

Also not saying hatch standoffs are perfect. I like the idea that the killer can progress the game into its final stage. However it's far too easy. It should be more difficult for the killer to close the hatch.

A suggestion might be... once the hatch is spawned open with 1 survivor left, the killer has to go and 'disable' each generator remaining before being able to close it.

Not a perfect idea but just the first thing that came to mind while writing this post

No, I just stood on the Hatch.

  • As typical, people abused a good thing, now we have this. If people were not, in general, jerks.. there wouldn't be a need for a mechanic like this, to later be "abused" by more jerks. The only reason why I like things they way they are now is that now I as a survivor or a killer don't have to wait forever for a match to end.

But keep on on this Killers are bad / Surviors are bad endless argue loop.

    Its entertaining.

I brought popcorn, I'm taking bets on how many posts before this one gets locked or fizzles out.

Idea: Introduce a add on to tool boxes or keys that allow you to pry the hatch back open (with a skill check!). It wont remove the timer, but will give the survivor another second chance like ability to add to their arsenal of second chance abilities.

What are you smoking that you think old hatch standoffs were enjoyable. You just stand there. That's it. Eventually the killer gets tired and hits you or walks away and you win.

The advantage is supposed to go to whoever finds the Hatch first, not the Survivor 100% of the time.

The old hatch wasnt perfect but it is much better than what we have now, in terms of interesting gameplay. Not ending games faster or killers deserving a free kill because they managed to get the other 3.

The last survivor should be the hardest to catch.

The fact that you consider standing afk on the hatch for 20 minutes to be more interesting gameplay than actually outsmarting the killer for an escape has basically erased any chance of me ever taking a word you say seriously. Better learn to like the new hatch cause I doubt you'll ever see the hatch standoff return.

  • That can't be a serious question...I'm going to assume is sarcasm.

If you stand on the hatch for 20 minutes, 17 of those minutes would be on the ending lobby screen. Because a survivor with a brain will have done the remaining gens.

@ClogWench Btw you seem very frustrated and resentful. I'm just voicing my opinion and I'm sure others who play the game like I do would agree with me here. Your arguments are more or less just attacking me as a person....

  • Uh no. The problem isn't the killer closing the hatch it's how close the exit gates spawn in. Increasing the spawn point would make it harder for the killer to camp both gates .

Which is the problem the old hatch had. You couldn't leave it cause if you weren't in grabbing range you lost. The survivor could freely leave it without consequence though. The survivor had all the tools to win just because they let their team die. No, the old hatch was garbage and now it's gone for that reason. Get used to it.

Interesting and easy solution. But I wish they would incorporate the gens in to somehow replicate that type of play we used to have with the hatch

  • If you're survivor and you sit on the hatch..? Jump in it if it's open? If its closed then you're pretty useless to the rest of your team. Lmao

You seem to be under the impression that Hatch Standoffs were anything other than both players doing nothing the vast majority of the time. Why is this?

  • The first few times I had a hatch standoff it was fun. But then it just became boring I wouldn't even try to camp the hatch if they want it they can have it. It makes the games so much longer

  • No its not a serious question. Its a really really dumb one.

I agree with your reasoning. I dislike anything that incentivizes players to abandon their teammates to play selfishly, which the old hatch did in comparison. But that's just players being selfish, which still happens all the time.

However, The survivor makes a lot of sound which the killer can use to create some security then go in visual range of a gen to make sure hes not being made a fool.

My only point is that it was more exciting and interesting. Even on killer side. Not about survivors ethics or why the hatch was introduced in the first play, or games being held hostage (which btw is only possible if both killer and survivor are lazy/bad) it just happened too much that they changed it.

You're telling me, as a killer, lapping from door to door 12 times until you see red lights. That's fun?

Have you ever played at high ranks before end game? Because hatch standoffs were much more than what you're describing and you would know that with proper experience.

Its biggest flaw was how the game itself could be infinitely lasting. I'm sure anyone that agrees with me will also agree that aspect of hatch standoffs were bad. I'm simply pointing out the flaws in the current system and highlighting the positives of the old system. And speculating ways as to how to make the system better

Dude, omg, its the killer who takes the hatch hostage and just stands guard over it. You know why? Lapping might not be fun but at least the killer has a chance now. The old hatch standoff, unless the survivor was an absolute idiot, the killer could not win. As for the killer using sounds to tell if the survivor is close, that unfortunately doesn't work since the hatch noise is blaring loudly in your ears. You can argue it all you want but it was a terrible feature and was the reason people slugged for the 4k so much, because you effectively lost otherwise.
