  • This would be a completely different conversation if Nurse was wickedly easy to learn and nearly every killer main was using her to completely dismantle survivor teams, but that simply isn't the case. I absolutely HATE facing Nurse, but truthfully, I don't see her that often. When I do, I play as well as I can, and I take my lumps without complaints, because Nurse mains EARN those W's. They've put in the time and effort to learn one of the most difficult killers in the game; I can't even imagine how many humiliating defeats a Nurse main must endure at the hands of swfs and bully squads as they try to get better and better. No one can deny that a good Nurse mains are very skilled killers, and there is no justifiable reason to punish them for their ability. So do what I do: play your hardest, take your L, and move on.

  • Let's also not forget: it takes an INSANE amount of stalking to get to that lethal tier 3. At minimum, you're looking at a 200% increase in stalking. Then there's the map to deal with. Indoor maps and busy outdoor maps make it difficult to maintain an unobstructed view. I haven't run Tombstone Myers much, but I typically lose 2 gens before hitting tier 3, making the rest of the match a sweat-fest trying to chase down all the survivors. It's far from being an easy 4k.

"It was a massive success. Most killers got exactly what they'd been asking for throughout the years. 1 patch drops and suddenly survivors have zero fun, even though they had plenty of fun before? Okay. If that's all it takes for them to leave, they can go. The killers will adapt and have fun. The low motivation of most survivors is the game's fault, and it certainly is 6.1.0's fault. This entitled/lazy survivor mentality that a game should be fun has been going on for years. They want to not be camped and tunneled, and when that happens every game they rage quit.

I hope BHVR continues with patches like that, so that the only the biggest masochists that love to be camped, tunneled and just die constantly will leave us killers in peace so we never have to try again. I also want to see the reactions to any potential killer buffs, since rational people usually lose their minds over that stuff, because they haven't been needed in a long time. Seems like every patch drop it's, "The worst patch that's ever happened!" Why are people upset just because it's true?"

Fixed that for you. This is pretty much the general mentality of people on this forum and why nothing on here should ever be taken seriously. It never changes. Kill rates are over 60% and that's still not good enough. No. No one on here will be happy until survivors just spawn directly on the hooks. Change the name from survivor to Victim and make it clear that this is the intent. Victims exist to be tortured for the killer's amusement. Nothing more.

I mean, if you're gonna act like a victim, might as well call yourself one. 🤷‍♂️

  • No way! I was hoping to terrorize survivors with Speed Myers through Christmas! 😕

you could've easily just skipped past this post, instead of writing like 6 replies about it, trying to prove that OP is "weird" for posting this.

seems like you care about this on a personal level, care to elaborate?

The more he goes on, the more convinced I get that he might be a member of that bully squad. He denies it, but if he's not involved, then he's got no reason to pop off and accuse the OP of looking for attention. Dude definitely feels seen. 😂🤣

At first, I was excited to hear Hag's new chase theme that unexpectedly was announced in new patchnotes. Then I got disappointed. Very disappointed.

You made a deliberate choice to add something nobody really expected or asked for and you did it badly.

I understand it was probably done to make Hag more desirable to play while a new very unique skin is released for her or you just suddenly remembered a thing you were planning to add years ago, but it doesn't matter because the end result is really poor.

Firstly, it's monotonous. It has the same issue as Ghostface's old chase music - same beat repeating over and over every second, literally a dryer machine, not music. It lacks instruments and it feels like the cycled sample is shorter than a few seconds unlike some other killers who have their chase theme sample being as long as 7-10 seconds.

Secondly, this theme doesn't fit Hag. Be it her "original" lore or a new retconned "don't worry, granma, i will not into a swamp flesh eating monster that draws triangles in the ground to camp hooks" lore, it doesn't fit the killer with her aesthetics and gameplay. Its tribal drums would rather fit Wraith who is a lot closer to such themes, than a character like Hag.

Thirdly, It is too tame and steady, despite the fact Hag can offen instantly appear right near survivor, scaring them with a sudden burst of sound and instantly playing proximity terror theme. Just look at this prime example of Hag's jump scare. Listen to how default chase theme №2 close proximity part plays and how INTENSE it is. It perfectly conveyed that sudden burst of adrenaline and increased heartbeat as you suddenly triggered Hag's trap.

What do we have now? This. https://youtu.be/-FW2wM3LO7Q?t=124. Forgive me for not finding a clip with an actual Hag's jumpscare, but just imagine THIS music plays when you get jumpscared. I'm already feeling like falling asleep, tbh.

BHVR, please, nobody asked you for this. 1,5 Hag mains and people who could bear play against her were fine with default chase theme. Hag already has a lot of issues with her. Please don't add bad sound design to it. Rework this theme to make it actually fit a jump scare based killer or re-purpose it for someone else, just don't leave it as is. People may say they like it, but it's only because it's something new.

I know you probably forced your music composer to hastly make Hag's chase theme in a few nights before the live patch dropped so he did classic Italian strike and made this music as bad as it can possibly be to still be "acceptable", but please, do better. I know you can do it. Do Hag some justice.

I'm sure they will get right on that, just for you, especially since you asked so nicely. 🤣🤣🤣

As we all know when one completes a tome, one gets a dumb little charm that no one can see. No extra BP or shards for doing the challenges, just a dumb charm. Why can't the Cham give a little extra perk or add on with use? Just a thought.

I don't understand the appeal of charms at all. I could see grinding for a new outfit, or even paying a little money for one if it looked cool enough, but charms are completely useless.

The MMR is straight garbage. I feel like it's worse when I play killer. I'll have 2, maybe 3 good games, and them all of a sudden I'm facing nothing but CoD death squads. I have to start throwing matches to drop my MMR rating if I want to get anything decent again. And you're right, there's no in between. It's such a joke.

Maybe I am exaggerating a bit, not intentionally of course. And I didn't mean send multiple, seperately made tickets with no evidence, on the same issue. I guess I'm not conveying my message clearly. Like you said, we agree on a lot, so I'll leave it at that.

For what it's worth, I definitely understand your frustration. It's not just this game, and not just this specific mechanic. It certainly seems like there is a new industry-wide standard in the era of live-service gaming: ship them out broken, patch them up later. A number of high-profile flops have made some developers a little reluctant to release projects too early, but it hasn't stopped other companies from pushing other titles out the door when they probably needed another month or two of attention in order to be street date ready. And you're right - people are becoming complacent and accepting of this kind of attitude from big game labels. It's absolutely a concerning trend.

Look at you, all salty over something you say doesn't concern you. The OP must've hit some nerve, otherwise there's no reason to speak on it, and certainly no reason to accuse someone of looking for attention. If the Sadako was weak, why dip? Why not just stay in, take her out, and soak up the easy BP?

And who really says "pwned" anymore? 😂

  • AND they added bloodpoints to the Rift free track. I am gonna be GRINDING this month!

The image above depicts a grinning Myers; in the lower left there is a purple add-on called Tombstone Piece! You can kill Healthy or Injured survivors in Evil Within II with this. The lower right contains a Halloween only add-on called Blight Serum. You can use it to activate a Blighted Rush and zoom. The two add-ons together, active tomorrow, means Myers can speed around and kill people. It is a silly warning that their favorite way to play Myers is out, and I personally hope I will run into them!

Do you think questioning the disability of anyone over the internet, something you're not even allowed to do in person to customers as a business employee, even as an employer to an employee, which they also have zero requirement to provide AND you have zero right to even ask, is morally ok? Hell you shouldn't even ask things like that as a simple courtesy unless they are both willing to share and willing to discuss it at all. You're making really bad attempts at trying to bring morality into the conversation about both morality and ethics, so I'd recommend you not go down that avenue again.

Running under the assumption that "bad-faith actors" did use epileptic people as a way to get the change, let me ask a question

So what? The flashlight changes both fix BM and epilepsy, how is either of those bad faith in the slightest?

Because they could have implemented a change that wouldn't have stripped them of their ego-stroking toys, you see. The devs are just acting like great big meanies! 🤣🤣🤣

  • Doesn't bother me, either. I'm a killer main, and when I do play survivor, I don't mess with flashlights because my aim is atrocious. My apologies if I came off a bit too snarky; almost every person I've seen malding over this tend to act like it will never be fixed, or that it's a perfectly good excuse to roll it back and leave flashlights alone altogether. Unfortunately, the poor release quality is now standard operating procedure for a number of developers: push it out half-baked and patch it up later.

  • One too many smacks to the head from Oni.

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3226333#Comment_3226333

People are allowed to make arguments concerning the opposition having bad faith actors, that is completely valid.

...As long as it is genuine, non-hypocritical, evidenced, and goes beyond the (dis)advantage dichotomy I posted earlier. Its not a very easily structured argument to make, and usually ends up chasing shadows and back and forth baseless accusations, so it's rarely productive unless there are concrete examples to pull from. More often than not it tends to just be midunderstanding about the (dis)advantage dichotomy and/or a whole lot of projecting.

I feel pretty confident that this was also a liability issue. Even with the epilepsy disclaimer, if Behaviour knew that players were using a game mechanic in such a way that would greatly increase the risk of seizures, then they had a legal obligation to take corrective action. As always, money talks.

  • @Araphex said:

My biggest issue is I used the green flashlight which increases 20% accuracy, with the add-on that increases accuracy by another 40% and still ended up with the flashlight pointing directly at the ground. I had a killer who let me test it out on them. They stood still and I couldn't get it to aim at all. It would bounce off their face and into a random direction.

As someone who is currently in college for my bachelor's in game design, I can't believe this was released being as broken as it is. But I guess the Halloween outfit update was more important than making sure content is released without flaws. Profit over game health.

They were probably under pressure to apply SOMETHING from the PTB, and flashlights drew the short straw. They're working on a fix. You'll be okay, kid. 😉

  • @Vampwire said:

This is so long ago why are u even posting it? lmao.

They're probably bored because it was the millionth blight they've seen that day with alch ring and crow (which is super boring, even before when survivors were stronger). It's still super common and basically puts him on easy mode. I'd say what you brought was basically equal to the same thing they did. They didn't have boons or medkits so it's not like it would've been impossible to pressure them. They also didn't bring ds either, so the UB+SG isn't really forced.

but part of me suspects you uploaded it just to get some reactions or validation.

Bored, huh? So bored that all four decided to turn down the easy bloodpoints? Yeah, that checks out.

Why would the OP need validation? He didn't do anything. And who cares if this is from April? It's still a prime example of how an entitled bully squad behaves when they know they're outmatched. Pretty much a safe bet they're still in the game acting like fools.

You wouldn't happen to be one of the players on this squad, would you? 😂

I say this every time this comes up, Franklin's isn't fair.

Also, White Ward doesn't save an item that isn't in your hands when you die, so Franklin's goes around that. Again, imagine you as killer bring a black ward and the survivor hits you with a pallet and deletes your add-ons. WOULD THAT BE FAIR?!

No you didnt you said its not a competitve game, you also said It's a party game for the enjoyment of all without competition.

    To which my question:

If that were the case then why eliminate players at all.

The relevance of the question i will explain for you. Eliminating a player gives a competitive advantage, and knocks a player out of the game ending their fun. So why do it if the game is what you said it is?

Okay, well, maybe it would help if you could answer this for me: what exactly are the players competing for? What reward does the game offer the participants that is of such value, that it requires a competitive mindset? As I mentioned elsewhere, the game does not make use of leaderboards, so it doesn't celebrate achievements of great measurement or quantity. On top of that, the game also does not officially declare anyone winners or losers. If you're a survivor, you either die, are sacrificed, or escape. If you're a killer, the potential outcomes are brutal killer, merciless killer, or entity displeased. Everyone is given a certain amount of bloodpoints based on their performance, and yes, those who are knocked out of the game will receive less. On the other hand, you know as well as I do that it is entirely possible for the killer to murder or sacrifice all four survivors, or for all four survivors to successfully escape the killer, and yet each player ends up earning a reasonably equal amount of bloodpoints, provided they satisfied certain conditions of their respective four categories. And last but not least, the bloodpoints are nothing more than common in-game currency. If you get knocked out early from one match and end up with a smaller amount, there's always the chance to earn more in the next match.

So...if the game does not recognize any kind of extraordinary achievements...if it doesn't declare winners or losers...and everyone is rewarded with identical currency...then what is it about this game that engenders a competitive nature of such intensity that it invites unparalleled hostility between the participants?

See the whole thing puts me in mind of young children playing in the back yard with Nerf guns and water guns to play in some fashion of pretend war. They divide into sides with an unspoken understanding that, depending on what might strike them and where, some of them will end up "dead." Naturally, every team invariably has that one kid that will argue about whether or not they actually took a hit, but generally speaking children will participate in this kind of play without worrying about any sense of "winning or losing." They play. They fire their weapons. They take hits. They enact some hysterical pantomime of death. They have FUN. 🤷‍♂️

Holy crap literally none of those apply to Dead By Daylight.

#1: Dead By Daylight is not a series of "minigames", regardless of your opinion of skill checks.

    #2: Four is not "large".

#3: This game is not "focused on social interaction".

Dead By Daylight is competitive because you literally have four plays COMPETING against another player. You just want the word "competitive" to mean "tournament level". A junior high baseball game is "competitive", and it doesn't stop being that way because it doesn't have a leaderboard.

Still waiting on your source citations, good sir. 😉

Also, I thought I'd posted a copy of the above video to this thread, but I don't see it here now, so I'm putting it up again. Consider it proof of concept. Watch and learn.

Oh, and technically speaking, you could consider each match as a minigame, since they tend to be short in duration and there is no long-term campaign to play out.

Killer mains always say the same stuff survivor mains say, both sides are entitled and have no basis for any of their complaints. The game is becoming worse and worse which each update cause Behaviour could care less as long as they're pleasing the top 1% of each side. ""Party game" is a blanket term for any game consisting of multiple participants played solely for the fun and enjoyment of everyone involved."

    Source?

Cause again, this sounds like a bullscrap term made up by players, not developers.

    Party game

A multiplayer game, usually consisting of a series of short minigames, that can be easily played in a social setting.

    Source: wiktionary.org

A game that is designed for large groups of people and emphasizes social interaction, creativity, and/or volubility.

Party games focus on play sessions with a group of players. Party games are focused more on social interaction. Party games usually have simple controls and allow for easy drop-in and out so that everyone can enjoy them.

Note that none of these three definitions mention competitive play as a vital characteristic. Now you will be good enough to cite your source stating that Dead by Daylight was designed and developed specifically for competitive play, won't you? There's a good boy.

I started playing with a mic more and wow...that sure is fun. lol, not sure why but sassing the killer is hilarious. dead dawg saloon with head on? omg, don't get me started.

I am much quicker to realize that this is just how the game works. I give in to the madness now and then but not nearly like I used to. to understand and comprehend (and most importantly...not be owned by such antics), one must experience and try not to react on the same level. works for me.

If it wasnt competitive you would be playing against bots not people, and there is even a non cpetitve mode where you can play with your friends custom games. Not everyone who plays the game in a competitive manner is a toxic dirtbag either.

It's a party game for the enjoyment of all without competition. You wouldn't go to a dinner party plotting to decimate all the guests at charades and brag loudly about it for the rest of the night. You wouldn't show up for Thanksgiving intending to body the entire family at UNO while shaming your cousins for how they played their cards. Unfortunately, some people do. Society generally regards them as blue ribbon a-holes, and they never get invited to any parties for the rest of their miserable lives. Ultimately, the object of those games is to HAVE FUN and not worry about who wins and who loses. Same thing here.

I can if that interpretation directly contributes to the toxicity of the community and makes enjoyment of the game difficult or impossible. Where do you think it comes from? Part of the problem is that Dead by Daylight isn't meant to be a competitive game. It's a survival horror game. Survival horror has never been a competitive genre. People play survival horror for the same reason they watch slasher movies and read Stephen King books: for the thrills and the fun. All this competitive nonsense is carryover from a decade's worth of armchair G.I. Joes acting hard in CoD lobbies. That mentality has no place in this game.

In that case you could make a need too have playede X hours on surviver before mechanic is active or in full effekt

That's a possibility, but truthfully, I would think experienced players would be more likely to struggle with an added mechanic. New players would simply learn it as a basic gameplay mechanic.

I can't speak to the specific idea in the original post, but generally speaking I could maybe see a killer whose special ability includes inflicting mid-chase skill checks as a distraction. 🙂

That would be an interesting take on it. It just randomly popped into my head how many times we've seen this scenario in slasher films: a victim fleeing from the killer, only to stupidly trip and get mercilessly slaughtered. 😂 Honestly, I thought I'd be hip-deep in outrage from entitled survivors furious that I would dare suggest something that would make their roles more challenging. I'm genuinely surprised at the relatively positive response thus far.

Fun idea. But it would ######### up new players more thsn anything else and they already have a rough time. Maybe have it happen if the chase goes on for over 30 secs or if the killer gets pallet stunned in the chase.

The numbers are just broad approximations for the purpose of explaining the mechanic itself. Like I said, I'm not a game dev, I don't know what the ideal parameters would be.

  • Injured survivors already suffer from reduced speed; add a trip mechanic, and you run the risk of ending a chase far too quickly, especially if mori conditions are met (I'd stick to the standard 2-hook requirement).

No more skill checks. We don't need to add more skill checks into the game.

Also, on console we already have enough performance issues and this just seems like yet another to add into the mix. If something that's a trigger for performance issues happens while I'm being carried I can't hit any wiggle skill checks for several seconds because the game is so poorly optimized. It's bad enough when being carried to a hook, it'd be even more frustrating when it happens in a chase.

Ideally, it wouldn't be a precise skill check, like a gen check or a wiggle check. More like a second hook check; you could still miss it if you aren't careful, but it's a bigger target, so your odds of success would be pretty decent. Obviously, adverse game conditions would have to be addressed. What console are you on?
