This is the thing I don't understand: the need for completion.

    "I don't like it, I won't use it...but I must have it."

I was pretty much like this until I realised that I was playing DBD just to get progression toward new skins. Skins I would never use. And the challenges I were attempting made for gameplay styles that lacked any enjoyment.

And the other headache-inducing exercise was attempting to complete achievements to gain trophies. Although I did manage to get platinum, I have since ceased trophy hunting. I mean what I am getting out of it? Definitely not fun, that's for sure.

But again, regarding crowns, it's not the grind that irks me: I just feel they look bad.

Good thing people are different! That's great for you, but I have fun trying to complete stuff even if these survivors tonight have been terrible.

  • I agree, but they're event items and I'm going to try and get them all because why not? If they're given free later down the line, great. It won't bother me in the slightest.

I can honestly say that this has, for whatever reason, been the most toxic event ever. Both as a Survivor AND Killer. Absolutely ridiculous. Why?!

I keep telling myself events can't get any worse in terms of toxicity, but each one ups the ante every single time lol.

I haven't played killer today, but I am for sure just going to get my 4 stacks of BBQ and let everyone escape. I don't care if I depip. I won't give in to the toxicity myself, no matter how bad it's been tonight for survivor. I played a game just now as Claudette where we managed to actually repair all the gens and everything. Guess what, for the life of me I could NOT find a crown so I had to escape without one. Feels bad, man.

  • I haven't been able to escape ONCE tonight. The survivors I'm getting are allergic to gens, play very selfish, and the majority of killers have been playing very toxic.

  • Thank you for the summary. I can't wait!

  • I have disliked the majority of them so far.

  • I can't say I've seen killers tunneling Lisa players on PS4 so far. Still, a person shouldn't be specifically targeted because of the skin they're using. I should know, since for whatever reason I get targeted a ton every time I use shirtless David!

  • Corrupt Intervention for me. My main killer is Trapper and never felt the need to ever use it. I'd rather play with 4 perks instead of 3.

  • I LOVE dark devotion. I've gotten so many generator grabs because of it.

  • For me it's Adrenaline for sure. I'd rather remain injured because then NOED doesn't scare me and I've got nothing to lose. I usually have Resilience and I'd rather keep the 9% speed boost, which is useful at opening the exit gates.

Also for me: spine chill. I understand why it's a popular perk, but I swear it makes people become worse because they rely on it too much.

  • I've got all the perks, but when I started I definitely did use it a lot. I think it's such a neat feature of the game and at the time, I'd look forward to what was going to be offered in the following week.

  • So you want a very powerful perk (Kindred) to be part of the base kit for solo survivors? That is ridiculous. Just equip Kindred. That's what I do and I play this game as a solo survivor. Is giving up one perk slot for Kindred too much to ask for? I don't think it is at all with all the information it gives you.

Equipping it would also eliminate your 2nd request which is gen progress. When someone gets hooked and you have Kindred, you can see the auras of survivors and if they're working on gens, you know which gens are being worked on. If you're hooked, your kindred also gives information to the rest of your team.

The only thing for me anyway that would be helpful to know is if someone else is in a chase other than the obsession, but even then, it isn't needed when there's perks like bond, kindred, empathy, aftercare and even the terror radius to determine that.

    In conclusion, use Kindred!

  • I hated this challenge. It encourages terrible play. Hopefully they minimize the amount of time you have to be unnoticed. Having it be a complete minute is awful if they want to continue with it.

  • I once played on Ormond like 5 times in a row where nobody used an offering for it. You can already know how most of those matches went lol.

  • Poised, Lithe, Dance with Me, and lightweight/iron will.

  • Just don't heal and do gens. Unfortunately the survivors I always get paired up with never understand this concept. Oh, and SPLIT UP! Stay far away from each other!

  • Man, I love playing both sides. I always focus on the survivor challenges first as it takes long to find matches and find them more difficult to accomplish. I feel the issue that most people have playing killer is they take things way too seriously. Once you stop taking everything seriously and you play on your own terms, it's a blast.

  • I chased the killer when he was busy with someone else. I'm so glad I finished it because it was such a terrible challenge that promotes bad gameplay IMO.

Generator Repair speed is fine. It's gen regression speed that is a problem. If you don't have PGTW then kicking a gen is literally a detriment to you 99% of the time. 320 Seconds to regress a generator from 99% to 0. That's over 5 minutes. Solo gen repair speed is 80 seconds. That's ridiculous. I say increase gen regression from 320 seconds to 240 or maybe even 160. That's still a decent amount of time but it would allow Killer a lot more freedom in pressuring gens.

Agreed. I feel like I need PGTW in every single one of my loadouts as kicking a gen without it does nothing IMO.

  • It's one of my favorite perks.

A charm that looks like each level of prestige.

That's exactly what I was going to put. 😂

  • Pop, STBFL, Sloppy, and whatever last perk you want. Focus on injuring everyone so they're forced to heal and if they don't heal, they're one shot down.

  • I find both sides fun because I play both. Solo survivor for me is way more unforgiving. Not only do I have to worry about the killer, but my own team mates as well. If you play solo, you'll either get: good/decent team mates, trolls, sfw who only care about themselves, useless players, survivors dropping all the pallets in their first chase, survivors allergic to gens, self care, and people who will sandbag you. The best is when those cocky swf in your team try to be super altruistic and all go down at once leaving you to be the only one who can save them, then get upset at you for ignoring them due to their stupid mistakes.

  • I would suggest Piggy. You'd be able to delay the game a bit with her traps. On PS4, I knew a killer who would play very well at red ranks without any perks. Piggy was one of his killers.

  • They're rare for killer too. Same with green mori offerings as well. I have more pink mori's than green ones in every killer.

Honestly i recommend ditching stbfl on her, with how reliant she could be at times on it you'll be wasting time going for the stacks and it'll generally wind up a net loss of time saved. Sure it's great and all but you'd want a decent amount of your hits from the dash lol. It's still a great choice but I'm just reminding you of what i call "stack vision" where you'll be hella hungry for those sweet stacks lol

I will always slash the obsession with a regular attack because I use sloppy butcher. I will only use the dash attack once the obsession is injured. I get what you're saying though, but I don't have stack vision whatsoever with STBFL. if the obsession dies oh well.

  • I personally love her. I've been playing her a lot more recently and I can delay most matches to my liking. Her add ons can be quite nasty too depending on the combinations you use. Her dash attack is great at loops and since I use STBFL on her, hitting the obsession with a dash attack doesn't take away my stacks. Very underused killer IMO.

  • DS is only strong at the end game. So do what I do, just eat it and you won't have to worry about it later. I don't have a problem with it whatsoever. If a survivor goes into a locker why would I let them be when I can just get rid of it easily?

I don't understand people wanting enduring to reduce the stun timer either. Did you all forget when it actually reduced the stun? Equipping it was worthless because the killer was on you right away as soon as you dropped.

Whenever I don't equip DS and no one else in the lobby has it/killer has no obsession perk guess what happens? The killer doesn't have to worry about DS so they tunnel away the person that is unhooked. who can blame them? It's the most efficient way to win. That's why I'd rather put it on so that the killer at least doesn't tunnel everyone off the hook right away.

  • Not knowing who the killer is and triggering a random Hag trap always gets to me lol.

  • The developers have mentioned before that the cosmetics will eventually be available in the store. Not sure about the time frame of them being available, but you should be able to get it in the near future.

  • What about those perks? I know they exist. It doesn't mean that the default BP shouldn't increase with the amount of perks we have in the game now. For a new player, especially starting out as survivor, the default BP gives them so little per match. 1.5x BP is fair IMO.

  • 1.5x BP should be the standard IMO.

All of these things can be bannable reasons. In any other game, CS:GO, LoL, DotA, Overwatch. Going AFK or suicide into the enemy team is a bannable offense, and they do it quite often. I see no reason why we should allow it in this game when any other team game does the exact same thing.

The difference is that this game allows me to struggle for a 4% chance to try to unhook myself. It's a mechanic that has been in the game since day 1 so you can't tell me I'm abusing something that's built into the game.

There's a ton of factors that would lead people to do it. Real life stuff can happen, maybe it's my first hook and I'm trying to give the last survivor a chance to escape, maybe I don't feel like trying my best with a team that is clearly not going to be of any help, etc. No thanks.

  • There's a perk called whispers if you're finding yourself in scenarios like this. Use it. It's actually a very great tracking perk!

That's not a legit reason. If your team is hook farming you, report them, that is a different behavior, or DC and take the penalty. You shouldn't get a "free" dc whenever you want.

Reporting them does nothing and you know it. I agree with Xzan. I am a solo survivor so if I'm buying the team time by getting chased and I see my team not respecting the time I'm giving them by being efficient, I am by no means staying in that match. I'll give the killer a hook and leave to the next match. The fact that you're promoting people to DC to deny the killer of a hook is in fact a worse alternative.

You can't force me to play a match that is meaningless, so I'll give you a hook before I go and leave you with the rest of the useless team I got paired up with.

  • As killer:

I was playing Piggy and came across an object of obsession bunny Feng who tbagged as soon as I saw she had it. Unfortunately for her, I was Piggy and she wasn't able to see me whenever I was crouched because of undetectable status. I manage to sneak up on her, down her, placed a trap on her, while I applied pressure to the rest of the other survivors. The other survivors would pick her up and I'd see her aura go towards the jigsaw boxes to try and remove the trap, but none of them worked. Eventually she makes it to the last box where I witness her timer finally depleting and watch her head explode. <3

    As survivor:

Being 1 hooked/go to the struggle phase on my first hook when I have Kindred on. I love and hate the perk. Love because of all the information it gives me, hate it because I witness how everyone is useless by not doing anything while someone's hooked and because no one bothers to rescue me when my kindred shows them their auras.

  • Yeah that's super frustrating for you guys. I'm red rank for both survivor and killer so I have no issue playing red rank games. If anything, as a solo, it's harder for me to actually escape as survivor than me getting winning as killer. There's a lot of survivors who clearly do not belong in red ranks at all and the SWF I sometimes get matches with do not bother saving me at all despite me lasting in chases/repairing all the gens. As killer, the competition I face off against are the team mates I wish I had when I play solo, but the difference is that as killer, I can control the match most of the time to my liking.

I highly suggest you take a small break for the game if this is getting to you. Whenever I lose as killer, I take it as learning opportunities to perform better next match. You can't win em all!

When I'm facing survivors who are clearly not very good at the game, I will hook them once or twice and let them repair generators, pretend to chase them so they get points, etc. I sympathize with those not so good survivors and don't want to make their experience frustrating if I go all out. The queue times for survivors are long so why make them wait so long for a not so pleasant match?

  • Halfway through tier 45. Need 1 more killer challenge left.

  • I can hear them fine. However, any of you guys hear the killer breathing sound like a survivor sometimes? I swear sometimes when I play Trapper it feels like he breaths like David.

I don't man, it depends on the killer heavily, lots of games with nurses and huntress I find pallets all over the place still downed. One time I even re-used the pig tree pallet cause it wasn't broken, you'd be surprised what kind of mistakes people make. I don't really use exhaustion perks so if this was one I'd be okay with it. Do you really thing head on is strong enough to justify being an exhaustion perk cause I sure don't

Yes. I do feel like it's strong for it to be an exhaustion perk. I've seen and been on the receiving end of it against SWF where they'll coordinate themselves very well to stun me when I'm chasing one of them. It can be abused to eternity if it had a cool down instead of making the survivors exhausted. At least once I know they have head on, I wouldn't have to worry about them having other exhaustion perks like 98% of the time.

  • I think it's fine the way it is. Maybe a SLIGHT reduction in time to recover it, but making it an exhaustion perk would cripple it, IMO. it's already niche and people wouldn't bother using it if it exhausted them per every use. It's already kind of rare for a killer to not break the pallet too.

  • Yes. Recently I started playing Huntress due to rift since I never took the time to actually play her before and I'm having a blast learning her. Yes there are some games where nothing clicks and I miss every hatchet throw, but I don't get frustrated at all lol. I learn from those matches quite a lot and appreciate the survivors who give me a hard time with the hatch throws because I learn a lot from missing. I tend to use the "weak" killers like Clown or Trapper and still do fine at red ranks. I play by own terms and that's what keeps me going in playing killer. <3

  • It's happened to me 3 matches in a row tonight. Team mates literally saving me in front of the killer without borrowed time. Haven't had a single killer that targets the person who unsafely unhooked.

  • The anniversary stream is on May 26, not the 24th.

  • Demogorgon and Clown's themes are amazing. I love them so much.

  • The challenges for this rift aren't that bad. I feel like most of the frustration would be eliminated if they got rid of the "do X during this match" ones. Make them universal and maybe people wouldn't have an issue. I know for sure that for the first tome, I had to play very dirty as killer to get some of those done which I dislike.

  • Shelter Woods for survivor and killer I really dislike Ormond.

  • No DS, one borrowed time, and 2 survivors had no exhaustion perks. I get the frustration due to the balancing, but it could have been a worse experience for you.

Experiment with more perks. The perks you used weren't very good to me. Ruin can get cleansed in a matter of seconds, NOED doesn't activate until the end game, and Franklin's wasn't worth bringing. All you had was BBQ, which only helps you locate survivors whenever you hook someone.

Also, if you can save the footage of your matches I suggest you save them to watch later and analyze what you could have done better. You can't tell your mistakes in game, but you can definitely notice them when you're spectating your own gameplay.
