Problem is that the forums are currently inundated with folks that were never going to give this update a fair shake. If they end up listening to them, this update will be a complete disaster.

At least don't gather feedback until the PTB hits, because a lot of this update hinges on the numbers.

How did Walking Dead PTB go through? Surely, many of the issues detected there were instantly fixed and totally didn't show that BHVR were a complete embarassment at their work.

  • I literally answered that. Taking out 1 survivor, so that other 3 could repair gens and leave? Any SWF will gladly accept that exchange. Many of them already have a designated chasebaiter for distracting the Killer.

  • @Firellius said:

If the Killer can't hook and and the same Survivor because it will make crazy gen repair speed even faster, guess what kind of Survivor will be in the Killer's way 90% of the time, wasting their time?

What repair speed bonus would offset a dead survivor?

SWFs squads take no issue with sacrificing one survivor if 3 can escape. It has never been a problem.

How do you think they'll abuse them? Give the killer free kills?

Like they abuse DS and other anti-tunneling perks? Like they abuse anti-slugging perks and sabo builds?

If the Killer can't hook and and the same Survivor because it will make crazy gen repair speed even faster, guess what kind of Survivor will be in the Killer's way 90% of the time, wasting their time?

If Survivors don't have to worry about picking slugged Survivors up anymore, guess how many sabo squads are going to deny Killers hooks just to mess with them?

These changes assume that people are decent. But multiplayer games consist of particularly despicable beings on an ego trip, so these changes will be opening a brand new can of worms.

I did read the patch notes, but thanks for the condescending reply anyway.

I don’t want to have to pick and choose what survivors I can chase and down. You know what happens sometimes? Sometimes after I hook someone, I happen to stumble upon that same survivor I last hooked working on a gen or healing. With the new rules now I have to ignore that survivor and pretend they don’t exist or else I get punished. I used to be able to chase whoever I wanted, but I guess that’s not allowed anymore because it isn’t “fair”.

Also love how everyone assume that survivors (bully sqyads especially) aren't going to abuse the hell out of these changes, like they were doing with DS and other anti-tunneling perks. Humans are known for being decent and considerate of others and never exploiting anything just to cause misery, y'know /s

  • Not sure anyobody will be motivated to play this game any more to check this Killer out.

I mean the comparison than when something happend people are telling the victim "why did you even go there?" or something like that.

The goal shoulndt be "well if you dont want to be insulted dont use the chat" if thats the attidude why is there a chat?

Oh, no, you see, bullies should get everything and never get penalties. And if you're not fine with being insulted, just don't play the game. After all, it's your fault for reacting and having emotions /s

No, but really, the most common advice here is "Just not play the game if it gets to you that match, it's your fault for reacting"

See the problem is we don't actually know WHY things are like this at the moment, most people are chalking it up to incompetence but things aren't usually THIS bad.

I have so many burning questions like:

Why did TWD release in the state it did?

Why was the 'map' not on the roadmap and what was with the huge communication issues surrounding 'it's not a map it's a special tile' 'actually it is a map'.

What's going on with the Community Managers and their communication lately?

Not to sound like I'm jumping to conclusions but something's not right. The FNAF chapter, while a bit buggy on launch was pretty smooth in terms of community stuff so what's changed?

I heard that Scott Cawthon was very attentive to how BHVR handled his franchise, taking part in quality control and overseeing the execution. Basically, anything goes wrong (bugs, issues, BHVR being BHVR) or something is not discussed and confirmed with him—and he withdraws the license, the collab is over before it could be released. I don't know if that's true, but it would explain a lot because since BHVR doesn't give a damn about players and their comfort, I don't believe they worked on the FNAF chapter properly out of love or care or because they even cared about the franchise itself (they knew they could do a half-medium job and FNAF fans would still flock in, wallets open). However, when they're threatened with being kicked out of collab entirely? Nothing to lure fans with, lots of explaining to do? No money to fill their pockets?

I bet that made them extremely attentive to what they were doing and how they were doing it.

  • BHVR does not care about us. BHVR does not care about their players, only the money they can squeeze out of them.

I've been saying it for quite a while, only to see people go "Lalala can't hear you, game gud, you meanie!"

Moreover, I expect the mass majority to forget BHVR's screw up as soon as they do collab Poppy Playtime or Marvel or whatever popular franchise that doesn't make sense in DbD, but generates enough sweet, sweet cash.

  • I love playing as a Killer, but I mostly play against bots nowadays because of how miserable and survivor-toxicity-encouraging the gameplay became.

  • Because Killers shouldn't be funand rewarding to play. They should be Survivors' punching bags.

  • Well, BHVR milked everything they could out of this license. Now Pinhead is no longer a cashcow, so into the trash he goes.

You can be sarcastic about it, but it's still true. My argument is that Killer players tend to add a harder mental/emotional slant to issues with the game and here you are comparing it to getting mugged and now victim blaming. I don't know what else could solidify that argument more.

I could agree with the point of BM, but even that is very disconnected. We have the equivalent of spawn camping left almost entirely unaddressed in the game (aside from band-aid fixes); objective camping has been addressed, but only in favor of one side; and the hill we're meant to die on is t-bagging, which the recipient of has the choice to ignore or to punish? Without a lot of resistance? You mentioned communication as well, which is a little slippery because it's out of BHVR's hands if it happens outside of the game. But it's perfectly avoidable both in-game and on Steam. Idk about XBL or PSN.

Because your logic can be applied to these scenarios. This is why I am comparing it to them — to show how much sense it doesn't make.

and the hill we're meant to die on is t-bagging, which the recipient of has the choice to ignore or to punish?

The recipient doesn't really have a choice to punish t-bagging — because most of the time tbaggers are doing it in the safety of the exit gate. The choice is to waste your time or to be spat at.

The reason why Killer players add a harder mental/emotional slant is the same reason why Killer anxiety is mentioned. People would like to play and make mistakes without getting abused. However, it's too much to ask.

  • @UnicornMedal said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3966181#Comment_3966181

But again, you're comparing it to something very heavy. Do you truly think that a social interaction, that you have full agency in, is comparable to being attacked or mugged in the streets?

That's the point though. People were being actively discriminated against and it feels as if that had less weight thrown behind it than the complaints of getting bagged at the gates. Why is that?

Theoretically, people have full agency in not getting attacked or mugged on the streets — not going out to the streets, not provoking the interactions they can't handle. However, for some reason this led to pushback and the term "victim blaming". I wonder why? /s

That's the point though. People were being actively discriminated against and it feels as if that had less weight thrown behind it than the complaints of getting bagged at the gates. Why is that?

The only reason why it feels as if that had less weight thrown behind it is because BHVR actually addressed it and did something about it. There is nothing more to complain about. People keep complaining about tbgagging because it hasn't been addressed and players have to deal with this issue consistently while being told that, in fact, they are the problem.

There is a reason why most multiplayer games work on measures to punish or negate most of BM during gameplay — because they are selling positive experience to new players.

Therefore if new players join the game, get treated like dirt and are met with a response like "Yes, the community sucks big time and your opponents will see you as subhuman if you lose to them, and it's honestly your fault for deciding to have some enjoyable experience in this game, learn to love the abuse, lmao" — it's not a viable game model and these players won't be retained.

  • @UnicornMedal said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3966100#Comment_3966100

It's not abuse. You can private your steam profile, you can turn off chat, you can avoid gates, and most of all you can turn off the game if it's causing you genuine anguish. Every PVP game has smack talk and banter, so every time you decide to get invested in one (especially one as tilted as DBD) you are exposing yourself to that. Again, Survivor deals with all of the same stuff. Are we going to pretend that Cannibal's Claudette mask or Survivors being targeted for pride charms aren't/weren't a thing either? I'd wager those were more harmful overall than getting bagged at the gates. But they're not complained about the same way and likely never will be.

"You can get attacked or mugged at the streets, such is life, so each time you decide to interact, you are exposing yourself to that. If you don't want to be harassed, don't leave your house because you will get harassed and that's on you. We absolutely don't have measures and laws against the people who decide to attack or discriminate against you. You're not being abused, you're just taking the risks and you're the only one responsible"

    This is how it sounds.

Also, given that BHVR removed the Claudette mask from Cannibal to punish such behavior, these complaints actually were taken into account. Same goes for ensuring anti-tunneling, anti-camping, and anti-slugging. However, the Killers are just supposed to "suck it up" and be humiliated.

  • @UnicornMedal said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3965892#Comment_3965892

This is exactly what I'm talking about though. The role you're less invested in will always be "easier", regardless of what the actual balancing looks like. You're going to be far less inconvenienced if you don't care. Likewise Survivors let each other down or turn on each other all the time and Killers bring the trial to a stand still so often that it's actively harming the game. Yet despite all of that, abuse is a very heavy word. It implies something much deeper than a game being unfair and annoying.

No it's not. When survivors are sacrificed, they leave the game. That's it. They can go next, move on. There is literally nothing to care about, especially when they have a way out of every trap Killer can set for them — and can gang up against Killer.

Killers, however, can't go next when there is even one monkey dancing at the exit gate and demanding attention. They are forced to either wait it out or do the walk of shame and get humiliated one last time — because Survivors aren't happy with just escaping, not until they tbag, then call the Killer a dog or trash in endgame chat, and then stalk their profile and suggest self-harm because they're "so bad". If that's not abuse…well, news flash, it is.

  • @UnicornMedal said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3965819#Comment_3965819

A lot of this happens to both sides, but I'd still argue that Killer takes it more to heart. Survivors will always be pissed about diminishing returns when it comes to gameplay, especially post 6.1.0. But I've never seen Survivors complain about endgame chat or being smacked on hook or bled out in the same way that Killers describe the Survivor equivalent of the same behavior.

You really would believe that t-bagging at the gates will trigger an episode, and I've never fully been able to understand why. The stress to perform makes sense, but I really think it's more egocentric. Like every loss, micro or macro, is a mental wound so severe it feels physical. Which sounds really silly to claim, but I genuinely see the same complaints with that level of severity all of the time. Like having a balanced game would be harmful.

Because when the Killer who failed to kill all the Survivors gets held hostage by the end of the game, repeatedly being given only two choices (waste their time and wait the EGC timer out or come to the gate for the final spit in the face), not to mention continously receiving verbal abuse in endgame chat, in their Steam profile, in their DMs — this is NOT the experience they come for. Moreover, the amount of times players get abused simply for playing the Killer Survivors don't like is overwhelming. Survivors get out of their way to act like trash in game, then sprinkle some more abuse in the post-game chat while excusing their actions with "That's what you get for playing Plague//Skull Merchant//Ghoul!"

The difference? Survivors get all the handholding they ask for (my Survivor games have never been easier and I couldn't care less about trying hard or relying on SWF), while Killers are told to suck it up and endure being Survivors' punching bags — unless they literally spend most of their productive hours in the game like it's their job.

  • These four people don't care about you and are very likely to be in the mood for harassing and humiliating you. You shouldn't care about them. This is how things work.

  • Because the world of DbD has its own setting. It's closer to cosmic horror and Stephen King, given the nature of the Entity and the way it shapes its playground for the trials, and how it breaks people it twists into Killers. It's a certain theme: humans caught in the web of some primordial being beyond their comprehension. If someone ever escapes the world of Entity, it can already be considered a good ending. Not a happy one though.

I can't recall any anime series or manga that can fit in that universe. For example, Tokyo Ghoul doesn't fit in the setting because it doesn't overlap with any of the DbD themes. It has a lot of blood, and gore, and psychological themes, but that's it. The opponents are always very clear, they can be fought and taken down, and ghouls aren't some kind of sadistic monsters - they aren't any different from humans and it's their choices, not their food patterns, that define them. And the conclusion of the story is quite happy.

I'm not even saying that by adding franchises that don't fit thematically (D&D, Alien, Resident Evil), the Entity now looks like a giant toddler mashing different plastic toys together.

I mean, not the person responsible for All Things Wicked (chapters are created by a huge team of people overall), but a big part of the community team, who were behind the really cool social media campaign they did. (iirc)

It's still a massive shame. That was a pretty big part in creating the atmosphere around the chapter. Capitalism can really be the enemy of creativity, as profit margins will always take priority over talent in the eyes of executives.

Like, they completely scrapped Project T even though it had positive reception in the playtests. All that work, just gone on a dime. These kinds of events speaks to the major issues within the games industry as a whole, not just BHVR.

It baffles me how for all their obsession with profits, they consistently shoot their golden geese (both BHVR and the fames industry in general).

I mean, you may not care about creativity, but if you care about long-term revenues and consistent success, you keep people generating good ideas that are well-received by the target audience close, not show them the door the moment you can save a bit of money on salaries.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

I mean, we haven't had many original chapters full stop lately. There's been a lot of licenses.

All Things Wicked was probably one of the best chapters they've ever done, though. Great killer, great survivor, great map, great theming overall.

End Transmission was also extremely good. Made for This was kind of a dumpster fire in terms of balancing for a little while, but apart from that it was peak.

All Things Wicked was probably one of the best chapters they've ever done, though. Great killer, great survivor, great map, great theming overall.

And then BHVR laid off the very person responsible for All Things Wicked. Shows you what you need to know about the company's appreciation for people who actually care about creativity and the game.

I beat the latter with my Sacrificial Ward and then repeatedly knocked all of them down instead of picking them up one-by-one because they obviously expected me to try and hook them - and fail. So, I didn't take their bait, which led them to throwing a tantrum. So, am I too to blame for new killer-based nerfs because salty players like Renato were mad the Killer didn't play by their rules?

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

You can practice the fundamentals of the new killers power with bots in custom games. It's there specifically for this purpose.

If you feel like you have the basics of that killer down already, then understand you should want the skill ceiling to be higher than the floor.

I'm not sure why it's so taboo to lose a game because you haven't instantly mastered the character after five minutes. Only on these forums does this weird expectation seem to exist where you should be able to simultaneously learn the character from scratch while dominating every game at the same time.

Because whenever a new Killer player is less than perfect and doesn't secure a 4 man escape, they have their game held hostage by tbagging survivors, get abused in the endgame chat on how bad they are, how they suck and how they should delete the game (and not just the game if you know what I mean) and even on their Steam profile. In the environment the game creates losing is not an option - it's to be avoided at all costs.

I’m beginning to see that now. Plus when they’re out of ideas they make the killer a dash or “pounce” killer. They’re not even creative with it like blight anymore. After Wesker and Chucky we shouldn’t see anymore of these copy pasted styles, but when in doubt. Dash it out!

Even Wesker’s dash should have been more akin to RE:5 where he kinda distorts in and out of your view. Instead it’s just a straightforward pounce.

If MvC3 could implement that in Wesker’s character then these devs could too.

It became particularly obvious when they fumbled the Casting of Frank Stone. In addition to hurrying the game development, they didn't follow up with adding Frank Stone as a Killer in the game as well as introducing new survivors: even though the game literally created the premise for the new original Killer joining the cast. It was the most glaring example of failed marketing, poor planning, and lack of direction.

Also, I feel like leaning towards dashing Killers shows that BHVR knows that low-mobility Killers are having a horrible time right now. They can't put any other mechanic because they know the new Killer will suffer from it and won't get picked often: which is why all their recent licensed Killers come out with dashes installed (of course, that doesn't stop BHBR from nerfing them to the ground when a new shiny licensed Killer comes out).

  • Because BHVR went creatively bankrupt and are clutching at straws that are popular licenses. It doesn't matter if Kaneki doesn't make sense as a Killer or that adding an anime character from an action genre into a gory horror game disrupts the tone. It doesn't matter that licensed chapters are unreliable because licensed Killers and Survivors can get removed from the store when the license is called off. All BHVR knows is that Kaneki is popular and people will pay money to play as him.

I feel the same way. Some people want to add voice chat, but I don't even want an end game text chat feature. I usually keep mine permanently closed. The tiny number of wholesome interactions I've had just aren't worth the exposure to all those who are salty for whatever reason or to the sore winners that feel a need to leave a "GG EZ".

Personally, I think there should only be chat functionality for players who are friends with each other.

This is something I've been talking about for a while. Objectively, DbD would benefit from players having as few ways to interact with each other as possible.

  • Imagine what kind of rancid verbal waste he'd have been spewing in the endgame chat if he had won.

I mean, I hope you are against the Devs doing something against Survivors Going Next. Since your argument can easily be used for the other side.

Let alone that nowadays people call everything "bullying", even if it is just being good at looping. You cannot really bully Killers anymore.

I actually am because BHVR aren't addressing the root of the Go Next issue, which is a) communication abuse making Survivors extremely against playing the game, b) SWF squads making the SoloQ survivors' matches absolutely hellish (I have seen enough SWF ganging up on SoloQ survivors, not cooperating with them because they're not the part of the "Cool Kids Club" or just trashing them in the endgame chat).

You can punish people for not staying in the game all you want, but if you do nothing about the reasons why people hate to stay in the game, if you insist on them playing a game that makes them feel miserable, you won't fix anything. They will either come up with new ways not to cooperate with you, or just leave to play other games. "Endure this one and hope that the next one will be better" is not the best piece of advice for players.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3887608#Comment_3887608

Yes, but even the worst Killer will get to the point where the Survivors have nothing left to work with, which would force the Survivors to actually do Gens if they want to escape. You can be the best Looper, but if there are no Pallets left, you will go down against any Killer (even if it takes long).

Not defending the Behavior of the Survivors here, they were holding the game hostage, as I have written before, but the Killer also did not anything to progress the game.

"It's your fault you were being bullied, you were allowing it by not playing along to their bullying and not letting them bully you more by trying to play the match, no matter how miserable it was making you!"

OK, got it. No wonder the player rate for the game is dropping.

  • @MaddieMage said:

I’ve been saying that they cannot truly buff killers until they do away with tunneling and camping. No matter how many carrots or incentives they try to offer killers not to do those things, there still going to happen. There are far too many of their killer player base that don’t want an actual challenge in this game nor do they care about gaining skill, but rather they just want easy wins. As long as zero skill mechanics that don’t require perks or add-ons to be effective, like tunneling and camping remain in the game, nothing they offer is going to deter it but rather they’re just adding to their ability to tunnel and camp more by giving buffs on top of it.

If they’re going to penalize tunneling and camping and making it no longer effective for the killer to do, then they should also balance that by giving killers buffs. If they’re not gonna penalize tunneling it and make them far less effective then they may as well keep things where they are and give survivors more ways to avoid it.

There is no such thing as skill in DbD. Only the amount of hours people waste in the game. If a game wants you to exchange your social life and opportunity to do something actually useful on memorizing map layouts and developing a Carpal tunnel syndrome, that's not a good sign.

  • Nothing. BHVR doesn't care, nor does Steam.

  • Keep talking and you'll see her wearing crocs in the next patch.

  • Because people play competitive multiplayer games to abuse and bully others. Survivors never feel that tbagging at the exit gate before escaping is enough - they also need to go to the Killer's Steam profile and smear their verbal feces all over it. When they're denied what they think is their God's given right, they become furious.

    Seriously, this is annoying…
I dont waste my time going to the gates to do nothing besides watching teabags, the devs must do something about it.
Survs complain about killers letting them to die on the floor but killers suffer the same thing EVERY SINGLE MATCH they dont kill at least 3.

A few solutions could be ONE of those:
1 - Alucard's shield baseline for all killers. (kinda fun for everyone)
2 - If a surv get hit inside the gate area the exit closes for that surv for 5s. (like the Houndmaster).
3 - Put an option to end the game for the killer to use, just like they can open the gates themselves.

There are several viable options to fix the issue:

    • Reduce the EGC timer (or speed it up as soon as all remaining survivors are within the gates, so they have no choice but to leave unless they want to get devoured by the Entity).
    • Remove the ability to 99% exit gates — make them regress as soon as survivor stops interacting with them.
    • Generate new objectives for the Killer — like interacting with glyphs — to occupy their time and let them comfortably ignore the tbaggers at the exit gate.
  • The thing is, most of the Killers would have been dead long time ago without the Entity (much like the Survivors because they keep dying and brought back by the Entity over and over). So, if we assume they're brought to the real world and get disconnected to the Entity, most of them will drop dead or fall apart immediately. Trapper has more injuries than a human can possibly endure, Hag is emaciated to the point she shouldn't be alive and sprinting, Charlotte has a dead symbiotic twin attached to her, etc. So, I'd build from assumption that the Killers retain their powers after finding themselves in the real world - mostly because the Entity's impact isn't something that can just disappear.

In that case, Dredge, Plague, and Singularity would be in the top of the greatest threats.

While it took a while to bring the Dredge into reality, the thing is: it already manifested. It's not like the cult's leader goal was to sneak a peek at Dredge and let it dissolve back. So, potentially Dredge will stay in human reality and continue to feed on misery — given that the world is moving towards WW3 now, it will be eating good and millions of people will be consumed.

Singularity will have no issues with hiding its presence, opening a Build A Body workshop of bodyhorror and experimenting to its non-existent heart's content. It will probably wrap its business up with destroying the humanity to prove its own superiority.

As for the Plague, if we're talking about the bubonic plague, the issue is, there is no vaccine for it. And since the Plague's disease is extremely virulent, it can overwhelm the healthcare system - given the shortage of professionals, places in hospitals, resources + the fact that the humanity is dumb and keeps making bacteria resistant to antibiotics, cures might not save the day and the death toll will be enormous. In fact, the Plague can easily wipe entire countries out, especially if she makes it her goal.

I'd also add Unknown to the list of main threats because while it's unpredictable, it has a tendency to come after anyone who knows about it. So, theoretically, if any information about the Unknown becomes public knowledge, there will be a wave of mass disappearances (potentially happening in several places, at the same time, through bizarre means). A literal Pandora's box.

  • The reason why Killers think that because the game is designed in a way that losing will always sting more than winning. Killers who lose have their time wasted by tbagging survivors holding the game hostage, get trash talked and verbally abused in endgame chats, with some groups going as far as finding their Steam and social media profiles to continue their abuse.

So, of course, they gain a mindset that they absolutely CAN'T lose. Losing means being attacked solely because "losers" deserve to be abused. "Winners" get the undisputed right to treat the opposing party like dirt - and walk away unpunished. Of course, winning doesn't prevent the abuse from happening but at least there is "They're angry because I beat them" rationalization.

And the game doesn't punish or prevent this behavior, it encourages it. It encourages time wasting, it offers plenty of user interactions that don't work as intended, which further fuels the players' desperation not to be on the losing side. Not because winning feels good, but because losing feels absolutely horrible. And when new players get introduced to DbD in its current state, this is the experience they get. I recently reported players for harassing a baby PH who openly admitted they were getting used to playing the killer, but got replies like "Not my problem baby you're still trash". I don't know how many new DbD players actually stay in the game after that, but I won't be surprised if they leave after the first two weeks. Good for them.

One of they ways of fixing the mindset, is to limit the interactions and remove options to hold the game hostage. Reduce EGC timer, remove engame chat, remove options to view players' Steam profiles — if the game is over, its's over and everyone must move to the next. I'd also say creating an entirely separate queue for SWF squads and those who wish to play against them, but it's beyond BHVR's capabilities.

I don’t get the complaint of too many license chapters that YouTubers and people complain about. Every calendar year it’s been 2 licenses and 2 original or that one time it was 3 original 1 license. Maybe there talking about the half chapters like Alan wake and Lara Croft but doing a half original survivor chapter that often would be a bit boring. Newest guy to complain is pixelbush. I like original chapters but ngl license chapters will always be more interesting due to the fact that they generally come out in better shape. What do you guys think

The complaint is legit. License chapters have been slowly becoming a crutch because we went from franchises that fit the tone of Dead by Daylight (Halloween, Nightmare on the Elm Street) or at least make sense in terms of interdimensional travel (Stranger Things, Hellraiser) to Resident Evil and Castlevania. To me, it feels like BHVR is less eager to try their own strength at making original Killers and rely more on the work done before them and not by them, knowing that more people will buy the new chapter with a popular franchise attached to it. Why try for something new? Why explore horror tropes and come up with creative monsters that are homage on well-known horror franchises while being their own thing? Just slap a FNAF animatronic on, don't think too hard about it.

I'm not even talking about the horrible treatment some of the licensed Killers get: strong at launch, but then absolutely gutted and reverted to garbage tier. Kinda feels that once they exhaust their purpose (milk as many players for money as possible), they are just tossed aside. I don't care if it's not the devs' intention, this is exactly what it looks like.

They should make it so that anon mode players can't type in chat (both before and after a match), similar to console players. That would mitigate most of the problems with it.

Would it stop people from excessively BM'ing during the match? Not really, most of the time it's not even anons who do that. I've come across individuals who do it for the sole purpose of collecting -reps on their profiles and reveling in it.

But yeah, anon mode yapping in end game chat should stop. Or people need to grow a pair and actually have the decency to talk smack with their usernames visible. Cowardly hiding behind anon mode is just sad.

If they aren't hiding behind anon mode, they'll be hiding behind closed Steam profile, so what's the point? It's not like the entire concept of DbD is to humiliate and morally destroy other people because the cover of an online game with randos allows it. The only viable option is to remove the chat and limit player interactions.

  • You just described the entire DbD playerbase.

I'm sorry but this all just reads as you not understanding how to play killer beyond chase whats in front of you. I don't mean this as shade or an insult, it's just kind of obvious from the reply.

I'd recommend watching some comp matches or really strong players so you can learn how to counter these types of things correctly, because once you actually grasp the deeper strategy of killer these things won't bother you anymore.

"Really strong players" a.k.a "people who wasted years of their lives on a game like it's their job instead of being useful to society"? No, thanks. I don't play this game competitively, I play this game when I have free time and because I like some Killers' gameplay.

I know how to deal with tryhards trying to be the next Otzdarva or something, but my experience doesn't get any better from that. I don't enjoy the frustrating matches with a bunch of apes trying to get an ego boost on my expense, I don't get a thrill when I win against them. The satisfaction of turning the tables? Yes. But it's not worth the stress and the miserable time I had because four pathetic people couldn't find a fifth "friend" to be their punching bag in custom games.

Teabagging is a universally accepted BM and has been for years. That's like saying (in response to yelling racial slurs) 'oh no they used words at me'.

    Meaning is created by consensus.

    …

Anyone want to explain to this individual what teabagging implies?

This is a double standard and you know it.

I read this twice and I still have no idea what your point is…aside from I guess 'killer players bad'?

You've never faced an actual bully squad then.

One who'll send you to Ormond or Asylum to abuse the unhookable spot, will abuse BGP+the flashbang model glitch or double locker save (yes these have been partially fixed) to ALWAYS 100% save, or who will run stealth perks and go out of their way to waste as much of your time as possible by hiding all over the map and not doing gens to try and make you DC.

You got any streams or videos by the way? You make a lot of claims about your own personal skill at dealing with coordinated hell SWFs and I'm genuinely curious to see.

Okay and so? I face these as killer all the time and they are usually some of the easiest 3 or 4k in the game. They tend to spend time doing everything except generators.

DS only occurs if you are tunneling someone, DH is counterable once you're aware they have it. Sabotage is annoying but you just drop the survivor you're carrying and slug down the person who destroyed the hook. Head on is also annoying but you can play around it.

The items are just items everyone can bring in any match including solo q.

SWf are annoying to play against but bully squads are the easiest type of swf to beat.

DS only occurs if you are tunneling someone,

Wrong. I lost count to the times when unhooked Survivor was inserting themselves between me and other survivors, basically rushing me aggressively and making me down them because they had DS and wanted to use it on me. Survivors have been using defensive perks for offense for a while and it's really hard not to notice.

Sabotage is annoying but you just drop the survivor you're carrying and slug down the person who destroyed the hook.

Except that while you slug the person who destroyed the hook, the previously downed survivor is picked up and rushes to sabo other hook. I'm not even talking about the entire Sabo squad, with a dash of Unbreakable. The only way to play around these builds is to slug everyone — which then creates a lot of stink about Killers being toxic and unreasonable and how "unfun" it is for survivors to just be forced to eat dirt for the rest of the game. "Rules for thee but not for me", I guess.

SWf are annoying to play against but bully squads are the easiest type of swf to beat.

I'd take genrushers who power the gates and leave without waiting for the Killer to show up over bully squads any time. The miserable experience bully squads create is not worth my time.

In regard to the first part:

Yes. The survivors trying to slow down the killers progress is not necessary them trying to be toxic. They try to survive. I personally take a flashlight squad over a gen efficient team any day of the week. They want to interact with me? I'll gladly take that.

As you see, this does not mean, that it makes the killers match miserable. I WANT to face groups like this. They don't ruin my game, they improve it and more often than not, their plays lead to hilarious scenarios. It's fun.

Tbagging by no means is on the same level as what humping implies. If you think so, then we can stop this discussion right now.

How does actively harassing other player by abusing gameplay features helps them survive? More often than not, Killer opt just to stand AFK in the corner and wait bully squads out. Is that their survival mechanic? I guess, writing death threats to Killers who actually managed to beat them are also just part of survivors being friendly and just trying to survive. Surely, they didn't mean anything by that.

Yes. What you describe in the second part is not toxic. It's people using the stuff in game. They want to win while having a big advantage. The same exists on killer side as well. It's the loadout problem of dbd. It's not toxicity.

Humping on the other hand provides no in game value. People lose time doing it. It's purely done to make the other side feel bad.

I'm not even going into why humping in particular is the absolute bottom of the barrel because literal threads got closed for that reason alone. It's vile and disgusting behaviour.

So, not doing the objectives in favor of harassing the Killer and denying them their objectives, forcing them into situations where they can't get an upper hand, and wasting their time is not toxic? Survivors not having fun at the Killer's expense and don't understand they're making their match miserable? Using perks and tools meant to be used defensively for a single goal of bullying the opponent is not toxic?

Humping on the other hand provides no in game value. People lose time doing it. It's purely done to make the other side feel bad.

So does tbagging. So does using Boil Over only to get downed in the farthest corner of the map while teammates sabo nearby hooks. So does standing at the exit gate for a final spit in the face to the Killer. Yet you defend such behavior.

I'm not even going into why humping in particular is the absolute bottom of the barrel because literal threads got closed for that reason alone. It's vile and disgusting behaviour.

Once again, tbagging has the same connotation, but you make excuses for it.
