  • During the PTB I'll play various levels of Nurse (from no perks to best builds) and try to tunnel survivors and see what happens. I hope there'll be some strong teams present to tear me a new one.

I also hope less experienced killers will play too as, in my opinion, they are the ones who will get the more 'natural' benefit. (Experienced killers who are used to fight against the current meta may feel like a hot knife going through butter until survivors adjust to the changes)

@drsoontm That's such a good idea to test Nurse out perkless, to then test her with a strong build. Even playing more casual to seeing how the match holds together if you do tunnel will get a mix of different results. :)

When I play killer I usually focus on seeing who can counter me, dropping a chase so I can re-focus and then if I do come across the meta perks, I do what I can to get the most out of the game and add in my counterplay.

Even with perk reworks, I don't expect to win every single game. Some I've even just had hooks in, but still good chase points, down points, etc. That'll still happen, even with buffs. I don't always want to sweat.

Beginners for expert Nurse players will struggle, since even before this rework got announced, expert players of her know that they can take out the new players and not expect much counterplay.

I'm not personally impressed with everything, but I think that seeing lobbys where the perks are changed and I don't see the same 4, or if I'm survivor I can for once use more fun perks, that's better. I have so many I want to use, but had to put in the meta ones all the time.

We'll see how it plays out in the PTB and when it officially launches. Change needs to definitely happen and hopefully the devs may even tweak things.

    Sorry for the essay. xD

It's alright. But the sweat has been a lot worse than usual. Noticeably worse. I'm more upset that I have to put up with trolls along side the stress when the game hasn't been this bad for a while. I'm mad that people who very obviously cannot compete with me in actual chase win because I can't reach them without walking for 15 seconds. Then watch them run to the opposite side of the map after a hit. That I lose 3 gens because people are splitting the pressure on gens. Is it the best way to play? Without a doubt. But that doesn't prevent it from being a bad experience. And I feel like my time investment isn't worth it because every game is like this.

Normally I'd take a break and come back. But I want to participate in the anniversary. I want to celebrate with the community. Instead it seems like the bonus bp and free cosmetics have only incentivized the worst aspects of the gameplay.

I'm really sorry that a lot of the matches have been frustrating. I do wish that it didn't have to be that a survivor had to escape to earn the reward, since the killer gets it regardless. That's just my suggestion. Whether or not the game was won or lost, at least a reward is given for playing during the anniversary event, doing the best that you can, etc.

Dredge has some great cosmetics. The creepy dolls one in the store is so good

The creepy doll cosmetic is so cool. I've always wanted to see that themed on a killer.

Just last night I played my first round of Ghostface after picking them up on sale. Leveled them to 10 get the perk slots and hit the game. Pulled off a 4k and the adept Ghostface achievment! Not too bad considering I didn't remember I could crouch for about half the match.

Awesome! I hope you have many more great matches!

I don’t really have to imagine as it’s either going to be a generic “GG”, a homophobic / racist slur or somebody telling me to kill myself. Does the chat really get more diverse than that? 🥴

Yeah, I prefer it turned off for those reasons. Plus, I just skip ultra fast anyway, so I'd miss anything said if it was a feature on consoles, haha.

Just need a mode to practice the movements of killers like Blight, Billy, Oni, Nurse etc.

That'd be perfect, because especially with Blight and how much he zooms around. 🤣 I want to be able to at least practice that so he can be a good pin ball machine man.

  • @Tomskrex said:

Mobile app got released and instantly got practice mode.

Console and PC players are asking for it for a long time, it isn't exactly making a rocket, is it?

I am sick of trying to mechanically learn a killer or practice loop patterns and get slammed with sweaty tournament builds.

I really would like a training mode too, especially since each Killer has their own playstyle.

I just started out streaming Dead By Daylight. Well I just started streaming in general but of course I had to stream my favorite game. I’d say I’m a survivor main but I love playing killer too just not as good. I decided to torture myself by playing Blight and learning him. I get looped, flashlighted, and utterly abused a lot of games and end game chat usually isn’t too favorable.

I recently got wrecked on Hawkins. I think I got 3 hooks and obviously everyone escaped. Blight on Hawkins is rough to say the least. I wasn’t feeling too great but all of a sudden I got 3 new followers and they were the survivors... I started to sweat thinking I was going to get bashed.

They apologized for the beating and said sorry that I got stuck in Hawkins as Blight. Said I had a nice stream and congratulated me on my few viewers and followers as well as dropping follows and watching for a bit.

This community isn’t all toxic! They are some really great people out there.

Mad respect to you for trying to play Blight! I really love him and would love to play him too. Ps4 may..be a challenge with him. 🤣 Still, that's so nice of them to even stick around and follow you! I hope you have great games like that more and more! ✌

I've had a similar Billy. I don't know what happened, but I ran him for two minutes after he killed two of my teammates. I eventually got downed, and David found an opportunity to get me up. Billy came back to us, and I kept myself ready to start a new chase, but he zoom past us and roar as your Billy did. When I saw he was chilling around, I finished the generators with David, and we played a bit with Billy to the exit gates.

We let him downing us at the exit gates for him to get extra BP. I don't know if he was done with a daily or a challenge and decided to let us leave, or if it was the fact I ran him for so long that he decided to spare us. It was good practice to me. Also, thank you Billy, I've finally got the "stun the Killer four times with a pallet in a single trial". Usually, I'm super greedy when I try this one and I finish with only three stuns.

Billy's lately have been so cool! Glad you got to have that experience!

  • @papichulo said:

this one time i was farming bp's and so i decided to use ghost face so i can make peace with the survivors and down them injure them etc. so then once i told them to open exit gates they all volunteered to get hooked and they even stood in a cute little line. i obviously let them escape sadly I DONT HAVECHAT WHICH DEVS NEED TO ADD FOR SWITCH AND CONSOLE PLAYERS, but im sure we wouldve played customs together ahahhaahaha.

I actually had just now a really cool Ghost Face who did a trade of BP against us Survivors. The game lasted a while, but it was so fun! I'm glad you had a good reaction from the Survivors on your end too. :)

  • As someone who likes to main Ace, I really like these ideas!

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Either works- 3 survivors in one trial or 3 different survivors in 3 different trials. So long as you're in the trial when they escape, even if you die later on, you get +1 to the challenge.

Thank you for explaining that, because I was confused about that too. :)

  • I actually can't see Totems very well, even if they're right in front of my face, because I have sight-loss, so I can reassure any Killer players here that your Hex Totems are safe from me. 🤣

  • I was in a Solo Survivor game as Kate and we had a Billy. The funniest and cutest thing he did was just zoom past us and roar all match, all across the map. He even got downs and allowed us to heal the downed Survivors. I could see that he was just having a fun time and once the exit gates were open, I gave him my toolbox and nodded my Kate's head at him. No other Survivor was rude at all to him, so that was a plus. He even nodded back at me and went back to zoomin' around. I actually really wanted to let him hook me so he got a kill, but still, I really appreciated that Billy and I hope he has great games here on out!

  • @FreddysMain said:

I never knew that, but it was very odd. eventually Ash did bleed out but that is because i could not see him or hear him on the ground i would have let him leave since i felt bad for him. but it was odd what happened, i recorded the gameplay too in case they messaged and got angry with me leaving him on the floor because on my screen it was very dodgy.

Yeah I'd be as confused as you. Hopefully you don't run into that too often in your matches. If it happens again, keep tabs on it like you have been. It's good to keep a record of how many times it keeps happening. 👍

  • I'm sorry that you had a rough game. I hope you have better games. I switch from Killer to Survivor, but mostly play Survivor and I can understand the Killer POV where the perk is only used to troll. I've never used the perk. I run the less used perks. Of course not everyone who uses DS does it to troll, but if the perk's being removed, there's a reason for it.

Most new players seem to DC because they get found and tunneled first and if it's solo play they just give up hope

I definitely understand that. Plus if it was how it works in SWF where there's constant communication, they'd be told to wait and not rush the hook process. Since that's not an option if you're playing in Solos, which I do pretty much all the time, that's why there can be DC's too. I couldn't just say "Just hold on a little longer, I'll be there once the Killer finds someone else and I can safely unhook you." And that sucks. 🤣 Hopefully the people who do DC because they feel like they're not good at the game find the courage to keep practicing. I'm not a pro at all and I linger in green since just getting the game recently, but I'm a purple rank survivor if I sweat. I play for fun and accept the losses and wins. Looping for me even is impossible sometimes, but there's always room to improve for anyone new who feels like they never will.

Considering the information that was accessed according to the announcement:

    • In-game username
    • Player ID numbers
    • Platform
    • Platform Usernames

The worst thing I can imagine happening is getting a "someone tried to sign into your account" e-mail from Steam/Sony/whatever other platform owner. As long as you don't have really bad password habits (using very common passwords that will be on any spooky hackerman's "try these passwords" list, using an already compromised password + username/email combo) you'll be fine.

And not saying that because this particular hack/leak is anything particularly scary, it really really isn't - they don't have access to any accounts, they just have a list of account names they might try to gain access to if they want. But nobody should make those mistakes security mistakes in the first place.

And oh yeah, already mentioned but use 2 factor authentication where you can. Again, not because this particular incident is anything scary, but because you'll be really glad you have it if someone ever does get past your password on any service or site.

Thank you for these tips, especially the Two-factor security route. It comes in handy just as an extra safety boost. 👏

In regards to your question I'm sorry but I'm not too sure

Think about how bad a player that deranks is if they need to stay in low ranks like they do

Think about how bad people that run UNBREAKABLE&DS are without the perks

Think about how bad a facecamping Leatherface is

Think about how bad a 4 man SWF is that runs meta perks and are on comma running syringes and BNP's

    Add them ALL together

    You got Hexy:D

    I need a hug man:(

I've seen the commas as names and I can't figure out what it means if someone uses them in their name? Is it to just hide their identity? I see it a lot

I had a very odd game today.

I was playing and I got ash and hit him twice but he fell to the ground then got back up I tried to hit him again and nothing so I left thought nothing of it then he was healed and running and I got him again but did the same thing he didn’t fall to the ground and disappeared and couldn’t pick him up since he was standing and then he bled out I couldn’t pick him up.. I would’ve let him go as I usually let the last survivor go if they’ve had a bad game.

That's so weird. At least you tried to let him leave, but with whatever was happening, that was literally impossible.

  • I haven't had the game too long, but recently I've seen a few situations where I'm not sure if there's an internet issue causing a player to DC, or if it was intentional. I really wanted to help this Ace who was on his first hook. There was enough clear ground and the Killer was on a different part of the map, so no camping or proxying. The Ace in less than a second obliterated himself on the hook when I was so close to getting the save. He was new, so I wanted to heal him and then we could work on a gen. Another time recently, a fellow Survivor DC'd after being downed. I'd been downed too, but got saved, etc. A trolling situation happened where all 3 Survivors abandoned me and me and a Wraith just farmed points. (He downed me, got hits on me, let me wiggle out, then let me do a gen and finally gave me hatch). The DC's on purpose aren't my favoriite. If someone I see DC's after a down, I almost wish I could tell them that they have a chance of either getting healed if the killer is distracted, or getting saved from the hook before they enter the 2nd phase. I've even had times where I just wanted to DC, but I'm taking each loss as a learning curve and changing around my perks and enjoying the wins. Both losses and wins for me matter. The DC seems to be out of frustration that they weren't given a chance, at least in the games I've been in where I've seen it. Even killers have done it. I understand both sides. Again, there's definitely many reasons why someone does it and some even accidental. It happens more in Solo.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2028289#Comment_2028289

Yeah when a curve billy gets a crazy hit on me I just stare in amazement. Never could get those curves down myself.

For real! Even when I get around a corner, there's that chainsaw coming at me and it takes me out and I'm the same, just thinking 'DUDE that was good' lmao. It's the same if a hatchet gets me perfectly. Eye coordination 10/10.

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

The bad billies moved to easier killers like Spirit and Freddy.

The good billies got punished for actually trying to curve with their chainsaw and go for snipes and dropped him.

That overheat change satisfied no one with more than 10 hours in this game. All he needed was an instasaw nerf. Nothing more.

I have respect for Billies who can get a clean hit, even with a bunch of walls and other obstacles in the way. In general, he's so speedy that for me I'd personally just go into the walls lol. It's a shame that there's issues with his build.

  • I've gone against several today. I think it depends on what time you play the game.

  • @Dizzy1096 said:

Its gotten to me too. I'm not just playing in the most toxic way as killer, had a number of survivors dc. I've lost all sympathy. If people want to play toxic then they'll get toxic.

I have to say it's funny when the 4 man ttv crew rolls in with all the best items and 2 bnp, you get the 4k and they start crying after the game. Aww why so sad, no highlight reel for you?

If I personally have a Killer who wants to slug all 4, including me, I don't DC like the other 3 did. That's tempting, but it actually gives points to the Killer and I lose the progress I made. A different match had all 3 disconnect on purpose, so I just had a stareoff with a Wraith who was just as confused as me. I let him get hits and down me, then he let me wiggle free, do 1 gen and then gave me the hatch. Those are what help me get through tougher matches where it feels hopeless. I really do understand where you're coming from where you think that you need to return the toxicity back, but hopefully you get some better games where you can relax more and not need to use that, if the Survivors are just playing the game normally. 👍

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/235215/too-unsure-about-what-to-do-here-need-some-help

Just happened the same to me, the exact same thing. I've returned to play the game again only recently and i'm already boiling. Can't stand to face premade crews in low ranks and get trash talked after because i was too weak for them. Take a Break. I'm going to do the same probably.

Sorry to hear that you get trash talked. I'm not a high rank Survivor, but I understand the Killer's POV where you're just trying to get your objectives done and things go sideways. These issues are on both sides. Like you said, a break would be a good idea. You don't have to completely quit if you do like the game and want to get through a match. Also from when I've played Killer, I usually try and think of what I need to do to adapt if I don't get any hooks or kills. Thinking of it as a learning curve can be useful. You can turn your anger into learning and you'll see improvements. Good luck.

  • A break really would be a good idea. When you realize your limits, you can pause and work towards calming down. Everytime you feel like you're reaching boiling point, take yourself away from what's causing it. Breaks really do make a difference. You can then go back into the game once you feel better.

  • I really like these Pig suggestions. I think she has a lot of potential and I actually want to play her myself, so it's good to see these ideas that can bring in improvement!
