No, they don't. Mid-rankers in Asia are potatoes too. I play in that region. If I don't play for a while after rank reset, going against green rank and purple rank survivors is like shooting fish in a barrel.
Back to the topic, though... It's a bit infuriating that so many people comment on these threads about Nurse when they have no idea what they are talking about. Like, sorry, but this conversation about Nurse balance is only for players of high rank who actually know what a nurse who has learned the character can do. Not for console players. Not for people in green ranks, not for people who have never gone past purple ranks. Yes, that probably leaves out a lot of the player population, but it is what it is.
A nurse at a certain skill level can not lose if the nurse plays optimally, even against survivors of equal skill or better skill. I've seen many people say "killer is the power role, of course a good killer should win!" When one side (nurse) and dominates to the point that the other side (survivors) are afforded no chance to survive, that is a balance problem.
While I do tend to agree that good survivors have the ability to end games too quickly at high ranks, and that something should be done about that, this is about Nurse. She needs to be tuned down. If you disagree, I seriously question if you have ever played a game against a high rank nurse.
If nurse is eventually (and deservedly) tuned down, I do hope the play style stays as similar to possible to how she plays now. Some of the most fun games I've played have been against Nurses who aren't good enough to be completely dominant with her, but still pose a huge threat.
No offense but the depip squad beat one of the best nurses in the game that played nothing but nurse for thousands of hours. Your argument that a god nurse can't be defeated is flawed. The only threat in this game is SWF.
You know, there's a lot of god huntresses in DBD thats near impossible to beat, should we nerf huntress too?
-
1/10 bad bait.
These nurse nerf threads are getting hilarious
-
Both are fine. As long as SWF exists their add-ons are fine too

Pretty hard to dodge 3 blinks
Just think, if you fail at stealth, and you fail at juking, you can press E to give you another chance and make her chase you longer. While at the same time your 3 people are humping a gen. The clock is ticking.

Or you know, you can wait for them to Dead Hard, get fatigued and then get them. But if they Dead Hard, you're probably gonna be too close to them for them to even have a chance of Urban Evading away. Not every map is the Estate.
No, but you have a lot of maps that is easy to juke the nurse, making it more difficult for her than for other killers: Rotten Fields, Treatment Theatre, Family Residence.

She is viable for all the wrong reasons. Look at spirit she has mind-game potential. Nurse does not. "Break LOS" that only works for so long. You can never fully keep a boundary between yous two. Billy, Spirit, Huntress, and on occasion Hag can all be halted by a pallet. Nurse cannot.
Nothing wrong being different. She forces a slightly different playstyle and that is to be respected and embraced, not ridiculed. If the devs didn't want survivors to ever be stealthy then there wouldn't be any stealth perks! If she still spots you, you can revert to the juking and breaking LOS. Not every killer needs to make a survivor "feel safe" just because they are camping a pallet.

nobody's afraid of nurse, people are just bored of her
i like that you, of all people, somebody who literally only plays nurse, took issue with that post
Nerfing a viable killer means you'll have one less killer in red ranks, which is a lot more boring imo!

You cannot master a straight line.
Smart survivors don't run in a straight line.
-
@xXNurseXx said:
just because it takes a longer time to master a killer it doesnt justify that you dominate every game
but ppl dont get this
Then comes the god survivors on discord and your theory is flushed down the toilet.

@miaasma said:
playing nurse has nothing to do with playing killer
you can spend a long time playing just nurse and mastering her, and then proceed to be terrible with every other killer in the game. this is how far divorced she is from how this game is played
Oh really? How is she so divorced from the game? Because she isn't loopable? Or is it because she's one of the few killers you have to actually be afraid of. As far as I know, most of the killers the survivors in red ranks runs up to the killer and begs to be chased. Without nurse, it wouldn't even be a horror game for most people.

Or she blinks at the corner of the wall and uses her 2nd blink as the precise blink. You know, like a smart Nurse who doesn't guess where a survivor is going.
That precise hit becomes completely voided when survivor dead hards and while she's fatigued they smartly urban evades with iron will.

You don't see why a killer should actually have counter play in a chase? The "just stealth" excuse just something that killers use to hide the fact that she is mechanically broken. It forces players to stealth, because a survivors skill verse her is almost completely irrelevant. Like I said, in a game that revolves around killer and survivor interaction, this should not be a thing.
When you go behind a wall, she has to guess where you are going...that's your counterplay opportunity.
-
Where did all The Nurse hate come from?
She's an actual killer at rank 1, and not a toy for SWF to poke fun of or push around.
-

it must be comforting, as somebody who only plays 3+ blink nurse every single game, to type this and feel like it's reasonable or accurate whatsoever
"killer isn't supposed to be strong" false equivalencies aside it is funny to me that this is the best someone who literally mains the strongest killer in her most broken possible setup can do. even tons of nurse mains agree that the stuff you run is nonsense, so where do you think you fit into this discussion?
anyway, if anyone wanted a prime example of somebody who is literally incapable of being self aware and considering how the only killer they play, with the addons they run, has no counterplay regardless of what they're presented with, here you are. "i win with this because i'm good it's definitely not too strong or anything. of course it has counterplay! just uhhh, counter it." i call it nurse main cognitive dissonance
Survivors have discord, insta-heals, red and purple keys, stackable mist, etc etc...
And you want to talk to me about using mediocre addons?
-
@miaasma said:
i also want to point out how nebulous the "stealth" point always is
there's never any specifics, no situational decision making or anything tangible, just "use stealth" followed by a list of perks you absolutely have to run in case you run into a nurse or else you deserve to lose or something
it is so, so stifling to a balance discussion to have people constantly contributing these hollow points and redirecting the dialogue from "how to counterplay a nurse" to "how to not deal with a nurse"
i also want to point out how nebulous the "nerf nurse" point always is
there's never any specifics, just "nerf nurse" so she doesn't have to change the survivor's playstyle, just "nerf nurse" followed by a list of reasons of how she breaks the game because they absolutely have to run in the open with no care for the killer or they have no fun
it is so, so stifling to a balance discussion to have people constantly contributing the idea that the killer is not supposed to be strong, redirecting the dialogue from "how do we maintain a viable killer" to "how to make nurse into a loopable killer like all the rest"

Stealth for the vast majority of experienced players in the game is boring. Looping is what keeps players playing the game. Looping is what made this game into what it is today.
This is pretty obvious...Because stealth makes them feel weaker than the killer. Survivors are the "power role" with all the other killers except for nurse and maybe two more (sometimes).
-
@Zertix said:
@Wubsyy__ Then you are not a good nurse, period.
I reach red ranks every season and nurse is the most killer that I go against. If she has any counter play, me and everyone else would have learned it by now and you wouldn't see anybody complaining here.
A killer that teleports ignoring all the survivors' defenses with no reliable counterplay is not fundamentally broken?
If she is not fundamentally broken, then why don't you show us a video of you countering a god tier nurse? I would be more than happy to watch it.
One good survivor can't beat a god tier nurse but FOUR good survivors can.
-
@xChrisx said:
As horvath said in a recent stream shes high priority right now, i hope will be the next killer to be reviewed, an addons rework isnt enough when she can still ignore the game mechanics
That's because he doesn't play his own game at Rank 1. If he played a good SWF team, a nurse with addons, Huntress 1-shot hatchets is weak and doesn't stand a chance.
-
@Gardenia It can also be argued that SWF and everyone running around like headless chickens because they "are not scared" of all the other killers is unhealthy for the game.
-
"I play survivor for 5000 hrs, does that mean it is ok for me to have the potential to demolish killers?"
You can. It's very possible with that much experience to pallet loop most of the killers for 5 gens.
"The bottom line is, a killer that ignores all the survivors' defenses/mechanics should not exist in this game regardless of the skill required to master that particular killer."
This is because most survivors believe pallets are their only defense. The counter to nurse is not pallets but stealth, breaking LOS, and Iron Will. Distortion is actually also quite strong but I almost never see it.
-
I'm not a Freddy main but I see why you might be upset. Not sure why they didn't simply buff him to have the teleport and to set fake pallets as a base power.
-
Fair. No different than survivors using adrenaline.
-
The forums just got a little more boring.
-
You want a game that's not DBD. That's all
-
That is like saying "Incidious should not work on Leatherface....its way too OP in the basement". Get over yourself, some things seem unfair on both sides and they are wasting a perk slot for it.
-
Make sounds great again!!! The huntress directional lullaby is not working either :/
-
The entity apparently sacrificed OP lol
-
@samination said:
Good riddance. Survivors didn't need another crutch perk and the majority of you were using it to show off. Much like old DS. That's why it got changed.
By that logic, Spirit Fury needs gutted because Hillbilly thinks he's bad to the bone that a pallet vanishes before his eyes.
-
I don't have a problem with NOED, but why can't both sides have strong perks? Maybe MoM was a little too crazy, but they did nerf it way too hard! So they made the perk a dream perk for killers, you have to be very altruistic and take protection hits at the hook to get stacks, which is exactly what killers want, because you aren't working on gens. The devs have lost all touch with solo survivors, because only an idiot would use the new MoM playing solo!!!

@Peanits there is definitely something wrong. I decided to check out different streamers tonight to see how Killer queues were going on PC. It took some searching, but I found Killers at Rank 19, 16, 14, 12, and 7. Know what happened? I didn't get to see a single match, except the one that was in progress when I tuned in, because afterward I got bored watching them sitting in Lobby "Searching for Match." I gave them an average of 5-8 minutes and then moved on.
It's ridiculous. I was thinking of coming back and buying Ghostface, but after seeing enough of the Killer lobby streams tonight, I'm going to have to pass until you guys, maybe and eventually, sort your mess out.
They don't know what to do. They got to figure out how to get survivors to play again without pissing off killers.
-

Basically, it's the same situation it's always been: They each have to be agreed upon with the people/companies that own those characters. We'll try our best to give them some love.

I'm actually not complaining about NOED! It's just a lot stronger than DS (new and old).

Combos are not the same as a single perk that broke all momentum and could be used 4 times in a trial. No single killer perk comes close to that. Even most perk combinations don't.
You conveniently forgot NOED, can like totally change the game from all 4 escaping to a 4K. DS could never do that, it just buys a few extra seconds for one survivor!
-
@ClogWench said:

Two years of DS being the most broken perk shows why that's a garbage idea.
Don't pretend to be all innocent with unfun killer perk combos existing in the game.
-
Her backstory is that she fights back against the killer ... The devs have actually made her somewhat weak in the game but is still hated. Decisive Strike for example should be allowed to be used whenever necessary, not on a timer that the killer can workaround...
This makes me wish characters had unique abilities. Laurie could DS anytime whereas the teachables has a nerfed DS. Claudette could heal faster, Meg has a shorter exhaustion, Jake can sabo much faster.

@Peanits said:
There was a change recently that changed the way that works. Before it would make a lobby right away, then you'd wait for survivors to fill it. Now, it'll look for survivors to fill it and then make the lobby once it's found a match. The overall queue time should not have changed. If you are getting a significantly longer queue time, please let me know and I'll have the team look into it.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/525198#Comment_525198
That's not quite the case. It wasn't based purely on the population in different regions, it was fairly random and could happen to anyone. I would previously get instant queues while people who lived a couple blocks away would end up waiting for half an hour. We wouldn't be able to fix long queue times in low population regions with a new matchmaking system. Both systems would gradually expand their filters and accept people from further away if it could not find a lobby.
I think you should consider reverting some of your perk changes to survivors to make it more fun for survivors.
-
These devs are smart. Now Ash must sell on his handsome looks rather than his perks.
-
He's weak against good survivors because he's SLOW! He needs time to hide and even then good survivors reveal you and then you are a normal m1 killer. Myers is actually better because he can stalk whenever he wants to.
-
Like someone else said I don't want to play with hackers! It's already bad enough as it is.

I feel robbed for buying Ash. His perks are now the worst...

What makes a killer viable at rank 1 is high mobility. Do you plan to release more high mobility killers like nurse and hillbilly?

Remove the timer when slugged. Killers abuse it.

Honestly step up your balancing game, the big titles in the industry do not balance around noobs that start the game. Look at any title and show me where is it balanced around casuals? Be it strategy games, fighting games and whatever they do not handhold the noob nor would they ever balance around it. Usually the community is there for the handholding and explaining to new players what to look out for and how to get good. I don't say remove swf at all but the excuse that not everybody is like that is horrible. Look at dota, not everybody is a pro yet it is balanced around them even tho 95% of the playerbase will never reach that skill level.
If casuals are destined to die easily to a medicore killer, the game would die immediately. Nobody wants to lose ALL the time, including yourself.
-
When they run all the survivors off to other games the only ones left will be killers. Make a new game mode called killer vs killer to keep the game alive. They can kill each other with NOED and BBQ
-
Making another survivor perk totally garbage.

no

@Peanits said:
That is not going to happen. It is perfectly clear in the EULA that anything is subject to changes at any time if it is deemed necessary. If you are outside of the refund window on your platform, we will not be able to make an exception here. It's the same situation as the Legion; we won't be issuing refunds any time we make a balance change.
IMPORTANT: BHVR MAY FIND IT NECESSARY TO MAKE UPDATES, OR RESET CERTAIN PARAMETERS TO BALANCE GAME PLAY AND USAGE OF THE GAME AND BHVR SERVICES. THESE UPDATES OR “RESETS” MAY CAUSE YOU SETBACKS WITHIN THE GAME AND MAY AFFECT CHARACTERS, GAMES, GROUPS OR OTHER ENTITLEMENTS UNDER YOUR CONTROL. BHVR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE THESE UPDATES AND IS NOT LIABLE TO YOU FOR THESE CHANGES.
You will have seen the EULA when you first launched the game, but you can also view it here: https://store.steampowered.com/eula/381210_eula_0
LOL. Why not just say you scammed everyone? You made your money on the ASH DLC and now you are ready to sell another one.

Poor thing
-
Thank you for increasing the stun to 5. If this perk is supposed to punish tunneling, you needed to be able to at least have a chance to escape. 3 secs was absolutely nothing. The only thing that needs to be looked at now is possibly increasing the timer.
