  • sorry for delay... i was fully in the locker. Ran in. closed door. pause... he stands and looks for a sec then lunges and hits...

  • NFW. He’s already pretty deadly in the right hands. The last thing we need is him being able to throw them at gates or any other hot spot he wants to cover. Killer mains are already living the good life with EGC.

  • And of course nurse isn’t op either... just get better... whatever. I’m done listening to the sheep that echo the “most balance killer” garbage. If every killer is billy level this game dies since survivor will be ZERO fun.

  • I actually don’t think that anyone posting about how ez Billy is to counter has ever spent significant time playing survivor against high level billies. Youre flat out wrong. And since my original post I’ve discovered that Hexy is also adamant about how OP Billy is for the same reasons. Insane mobility, built in 1 hit, the ability to one hit fairly consistently in short/medium range with practice. AgaIn... I solo and play ps4 which has some bearing on this... but the ability to down, use bbq, down again on other side of map, etc... ridic.

  • I was thinking along the lines of building in the most common perks: self care, ruin, etc... that way everyone can use the ones they like but add more variety... kind of like adding a 5th or 6th slot.

  • Same here. For the past 2 days, ps4, like 100x more host connection errors than usual. Annoying af. I’ve tried restarting the game and restarting the ps4. Doesn’t solve it.

Just eat it and maybe even try to survive against it? Just an idea...

My comment is based on going against it many many many times. Its zero fun to play against imo. Its just unfair. Too many vr and ur killer addons are like this and survivors have nothing even close.

  • Prayer beads = dc. Im not giving the killer the pleasure of a fantastic game surprising and decimating us all. Let everyone dc and waste it. Whats the addon that gives survivors a guaranteed win again? This game kisses so much killer ass it makes me sick. I mean for crying out loud, Windows of Opportunity has a cooldown but Billy’s chainsaw doesnt. Lol.

  • thanks for the constructive responses. I guess whats bothersome is It almost always feels really wrong. All other hits in the game feel accurate. But almost every time these do not feel accurate. And i could see if i stopped outside the window after i vaulted. But its a fluid motion. And the idea of doing a fluid running jump through a window and continuing to run while leaving someone on the other side, where they have to stop at that barrier, yet they still hit your running form while they are stopped at a barrier... it just makes no sense.

  • I dunno. I still think its a solid idea. Theres no downside.

  • Yeah. It works both ways for killer and survivor. Though the killers percentages would be divided across the four survivors...

While we're not necessarily against making changes to the collapse in the future, I'll just give a quick rundown on why we couldn't do these:

    1. This would bring back the old standoff issue. The survivor could just hide in a corner somewhere until the killer gets bored and gives up.
    2. The killer would likely see it too (odds are higher, even, since they are always running around the map).
    3. Adding time to the EGC wouldn't make it any easier to open a gate when the killer is patrolling them, it just delays the inevitable.
    4. I wouldn't be a fan of this personally, but I could be convinced otherwise.
    5. This would just reverse the issue, barring hillbilly. It would be a guaranteed loss for the killer.

It's definitely hard to escape as the last survivor once the hatch has been closed, but that is intended. At that point, the survivors failed to power the generators and failed to find the hatch first. Giving them an easy escape at that point would be a little silly.

The response to number 5 is simply not true. At worst the killer could focus on 1 door and get about a 50% win rate.

The current situation is horrible and simply unfair to the last survivor. The only time it's close to fair is when the locked hatch hasn't already appeared. Then at least both have a similar chance of finding hatch (still killer biased).

The most common arguments as to why EGC is fine are: 1) the game is asymmetrical in the killer's favor and 2) adjusting EGC a bit for the survivor is rewarding bad play/losers

This speaks to the fact that killers NEVER have to worry about matchmaking issues and DCs which are extremely pervasive in this game. The asymmetrical nature of this game is balanced for 4 man SWF or (to a lesser extent but close enough) 4 survivors of matched skill. Solo players, which are the majority on PS4 I believe, and how I play, lose games CONSTANTLY, and I mean sometimes like 3/4 of games in a day, because the asymmetricality of the game is horribly skewed. Every time a survivor quits early, e.g. for the highly common scenario where he's caught by a Billy/Spirit/Nurse in the first 5 seconds the other 3 are now in an unfair situation due to poor game design that doesn't properly account for people quitting at game start. Sometimes the remaining 3 fight it out and maybe 10% of the time it works. (And no, that isn't how it's meant to be because of asymmetricality. The quitting survivor should have been an asset much longer. The point is the other three do not deserve to die 9/10 times because of quitters). Mostly the other 2 get slaughtered and the 4th to die goes through the charade of EGC.

Bear in mind the above applies to not just DCs, but all times survivors are teamed with players that are not properly matched to their skill level, specifically at high tiers. Survivors that just go hyper altruistic and hook/die/camp hook area to save... that's not serious play. Survivors that potato and just crouch and hide 75% of the time... also not serious play. Yet they appear in top ranks all day long because matchmaking is not accurate enough in this game. And let me stress one more time, this is not something killers have to care about. They just lazily look at the "survivor team" as a unit. If one DCs early or plays like an idiot etc, oh well.. that team sucked. Fair game. No. You got to enjoy yet another game skewed in your favor while the other REAL survivors had to suffer yet again.

The EGC situation for the last survivor is really just the most obvious extension of this issue. Survivors usually aren't in the EGC alone because their solid team just got beat. And I agree that EGC would be fair if the matchups were fair. If 4 true rank 1s go against a rank 1 killer and he knocks them down to 1 guy. Yeah, they got beat. But often the best survivor hung in as long as possible with 1 or 2 idiots on his team and now he gets the final screwing. I agree this isn't the killer's fault or problem. He is just the lucky recipient of another easy ending and another 4k due to the game design.

  • Survivor main. Forgive me if I call bulls* on some of this exaggeration. I'm just about to hit devotion 8 and am a level 3 survivor on PS4. Most games have a survivor caught in the first 30 seconds or so which then results in 1-3 survivors stopping to save and 1 new survivor getting chased. Ruin is found quickly in maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the games, and found late or never another 1/3 to 1/4. The most frequent outcome to games is probably 1 survivor or no survivors. Killers generally run ruin then patrol the hook and tunnel while using very rares and ultra rares. Gens do not get done "in a couple seconds". I have NEVER seen a whole team run green/purple toolboxes with spare part. Pretty sure most survivors think spare part is garbage. OP had a run of bad luck with his ruin and gens getting done quickly. I have runs of bad luck getting tunnelled and/or sandbagged or judiths mirrored or coxcomb clappered or prayer beads'd lol... or dc'ing teammates, yada yada. This game is frustrating. Get over it and figure out new ways to win and /or at least have fun.

  • DC is a perfectly reasonable thing to do sometimes given the quality of players you end up with in this game and some of the OP stuff you can encounter.

    Some examples:

Killer tunnels you for no reason.

Teammate blows a gen near the killer then sprint bursts away leaving you to take the hit.

Teammate farms you without Borrowed Time.

    1 or more teammates DC.

Your teammates are selfish jerks or garbage spuds.

The killer is running one of a dozen or so OP addons that is going to obliterate your team.

You play your 10th game in a row with Nurse or Billy + Ruin + BBQ.

While I stick it out in most cases, I feel justified quitting in any of those situations.

They can't separate SWF from Solos.

First things first, they'd have to completely ban 3 person groups and limit to groups of 2 and groups of 4.

Second, they would need to offer severe benefits to get most killers to put up with the "SWF mode". Even if you buffed the solo survivors a lot of people would prefer to go play that mode instead.

Third, people could just lobby dodge until they end up in lobbies with their friends in the solo mode like they did before SWF was a thing.

And Fourth, there's nothing preventing people on consoles from inviting lobby mates to a party.

It's simply not a feasible thing to do, so they need to make the game balanced for both.

I don't know that this is true. If you just eliminated the SWF mode for ranked play and rebalanced the game for killers vs 4 solos, that would work. Tons of people don't care about rank anyway. Let SWF players and killers go at each other unranked. The idea of lobby dodging until I ended up in the same one as a friend sounds painful. No way would I waste tons of time trying to do this, let a lone with a 4 man. And taking the time to form a party with 3 other strangers and the quality of that communication all leave me inclined to think that is nothing to worry about either. Separation is feasible. If it was important enough a way would be found. It just won't happen...

  • Just about all perks other than the widely used ones (self care, adrenaline, urban, all the exhaustion...) need to be stronger.

I'd also like to have a fifth perk slot.

And how about looking at the add-on imbalance. Some of these very rare and ultra rare killer addons can be insane and are basically a free unloseable game for killers. How about survivor ultra rares that make you immune to aura reveals all game? Or if they have addons for one hits and moris why dont survivors have addons that are like suits of armor that require extra hits?

Seriously, high ranks are full of boosted killers running OP addons. fix that garbage.

  • OP you're 100% right. Based on my experience there are about 20% of us at higher ranks that know ######### they're doing. I'm speaking as a rank 3 survivor on ps4. I totally disagree with the posters here that say to "just make a stealth build". In my opinion that turns you into one of the garbage players.

I played a game the other day where me and one other survivor were left vs Plague. I was on the last gen 50% complete as the killer was killing a guy across the map and the other completely healthy survivor runs right past me. If he had a team mindset he would have helped me finish that gen in 5 seconds but he had the selfish survivor mindset and was looking for hatch. This was confirmed in our lovely post game chat.

I completely agree that SWF and solo MUST be separated. The game is close to balanced at 4 man SWF thus it's extremely difficult for solos. Especially considering that your teammates are often not really as good as their rank suggests they are. If they were, soloing wouldn't be as bad since you could assume they knew ######### they were doing.

But the top things that piss me off from the garbage survivors:

Potatoing. There are too many scared survivors. They crouch and hide when they dont need to and could be doing something. I have morons crouching right beside the gen I'm working. FFS HIT R1 while you're squatting there.

Being afraid to take a hit. There are countless situations when someone could save or finish a gen or knock out that hex totem if they had the courage to take a hit. But instead they run or stay hidden and the team suffers. My favorite is when they pull you off hook and then let you take the hit when the killer comes.

Hyper altruism. 2-3 survivors taking turns saving and getting hooked in rapid succession. Yeah. Game over.

Wrong Priorities. They continue doing a gen, or work a dull totem, or check a chest, or get in a closet when they should be saving someone. Then if they eventually DO save, the timing is wrong so the killer has gone back to the hook. Saving before struggle is important people.

Here's the motto I try to follow in game. If every survivor followed it, it would help:

ALWAYS BE DOING SOMETHING. This means something PRODUCTIVE. Doing a gen, a totem, healing, saving, being chased. That stuff moves the game forward. Hide as little as possible.

    Anyhow... yeah. You're not alone.

  • ok im still learning how to deal with this guy and breaking him out of stalking is quite difficult. I broke him once, he detected me and chased me. I evaded, staying behind quite a lot of cover. He caught up to me and stalked me immediately. Like 1.5 seconds. He had very rare night vision monocular on. But cmon. A very rare that lets you 1 hit anything in 2 secs or less of stalking? Ridic.

  • Youll find yourself playing more like a douchebag. Youll think you have something to prove against those “nasty swf” groups even though stats show the majority are solos, so youll spend more time tunnelling, patrolling (and lying to yourself that youre not camping), and flat out camping.

Make sure you have ruin, bbq, noed, and nurses calling at level 3 since thats your permanent build. Be prepared to burn through all your very rares and ultra rares because if you dont 4k youre trash. And if you used to have empathy for those other humans playing against you when their teammates dc immediately, learn to choke that down. No time for sportsmanship when you got a sweet advantage handed to you.

    Have fun!

  • I used to get pissed at dcs. Now i dont. I totally understand. Its a pretty reasonable thing to do when faced with some of the bs unfair situations this game allows. If i get downed in the first 10 seconds of a game because the killer spawned super close and is running an ultra rare.... yeah. Thats fair. Or i get idiot teammates that farm each other and we have 2 players on hooks in the first 2 minutes... Maybe a teammate sandbags me and i get downed from his stupidity and selfIshness, or maybe i get tunnelled and/or camped.... or massive lag spikes screw me... im not wasting my time on that bs... next game.

  • Setting a min distance so that its harder to guard both exits would help. The hatch standoff was awful but the solution needs to be fair to both sides. I tried adjusting. Then best adjustment ive found is looking for the hatch early. But 1) this only works if enough gens have been done and 2) do we really want to make looking for a silent hatch earlier a “best option”? Its horrible. Slow and time consuming. If you are a solid survivor you are likely hustling to get things done so everyone does better. When it gets down to 2 you should still be working for the team, not being selfish. When the 3rd guy dies, as i stated in the OP, the killer almost always gets hatch first and then youre faced with a hopeless situation. So 2nd best option is just running to the nearest door hoping that its far enough away from the hatch the killer locks. Odds are though the killer closes hatch then approaches one door, if he sees nothing he goes to the other. Theres no time to NOT be opening the gate and trying to game the killer. So you have to stand there and open, get seen, and hope he doesn’t make it in time. Its a lame 1 dimensional lopsided endgame. Needs to be fixed.

  • Wow. A killer main being an arrogant trolling douche. I did NOT see that coming.

  • Exactly Mochan. Take addons out of the picture and compare high level / mastered killers and only Billy and Nurse are near unbeatable. If you want to throw some very strong addons into the mix then some others like the spirit, michael, clown, can basically get free 4ks with the right addons. But in those situations i blame the addons for being OP. The only killers that, once i know who it is, i think “this could be a slaughter if they’re good”, are Billy and Nurse. And at least with nurse, if they are average or below its actually easier than normal. Not so with Billy.

  • My post begins with the FACT that Billy is OP and asks if the game will ever address it. I didn't ask for opinions on whether he was.

  • Billy can be OP without addons. Of course dodgeable long range. But he gets close to you from across the map in seconds and then is insanely dangerous.

  • Ok. Sorry but you people acting like youre the good guys by defending a “feature” are just being myopic idiots. Just open your eyes and be objective. What does it help vs what does it hurt? The benefit is pretty much zero. But it is ridiculously easy to trigger these buttons on a ps4 controller. Resting on your lap, setting it on any surface.... come on. Use your brain. It causes more harm than good. Get rid of it or ideally make it optional in a setting.

  • I asked for this day one. The r2l2 character switch makes things worse not better. They help nothing and yet im guessing 95% of players accidentally switch characters or NOW have to be extra careful not to switch characters. Every time I set down my gd controller to do something is a gd event now.

  • A> @HawkAyeTheNoo said:

99% of these stats are made up.

No #########. Theyre estimates based on my experience. Give or take 5-10%.

  • In response to some posts:

As i said, i dont find killer to be fun. I dont disagree that it can be difficult. But its not as fun as trying to survive. Thats what i mean by no risk. The worst that happens is you dont kill everyone. And i completely disagree that people play survivor because its easier. I play it because its harder. I can die. Its harder to get points as survivor as well so where anyone gets off saying its easier is beyond me. Yes you get games faster but theyre games i dont care to play.

I know how to compensate for bbq. Its just used so frequently because its so strong that you basically have to do the bbq dance every game. Its a boring hassle. Same with Ruin. Yeah you either find it or work through it. But on ps4 the high ranks arent as good as on pc and they mostly dont work thru it. They run and look for it without small game and waste time. Noed just sucks. You can only counter that by doing all totems or not letting ypurself get hit. That perk will almost always net the killer a kill.

Anyhow i stand by my points. This game has way too many negatives for survivor on ps4. More ######### killers and more ######### survivors even at higher ranks. Killers will almost always run 1 or 2 of those perks, camp and tunnel and as a solo player without great teammates its a lot harder to have good games. The game balances killer to a swf team. And im solo 95% of the time.

  • @Tsulan said:
    Just play killer instead?

Lol. I wish killer was as fun but it isnt. Theres no risk with killer. Ideally they fix the game. Its a great concept but the flaws are excessive.

  • Finally saw one. A big lantern hanging off a hook on a big box.

  • Wth does a vessel look like? Ive played 5 games and havent seen one. Is it big, small, round, square, does it glow, make sound? #########...

  • I think all your points are totally legit. I hate all dc’ers. Although your poiint about the 3rd survivor dcing so the last can get the hatch... lord i wish that would happen. Lol. Offering yourself up as a kill for a killer having a bad game...i think thats fair. I guess its just hard to do because we get killed SO OFTEN and surviving is a fairly uncommon joy. And the killer might not even understand so it may be pointless. On the other hand its clear when a killer gives you the hatch that theyre being cool...

  • @RuneStarr said:

Interesting how both Survivor and Killer resolutions you're offering others to use are all to make the game better for the survivor as if the killer is just a tool to be used instead of an actual player who is also trying to have fun. Hmmm...

Yes, it's survivor perspective. I'm survivor main. Feel free to add thoughts on how survivors can improve to make the killer's game more fun. The only thing that I can really think of that would be unsportsmanlike survivor play is hiding forever. Everything else is just trying to survive and we have weak tools with which to do it.

  • With Legion I just prioritize avoiding his terror radius a little more (because of the ability to see auras in frenzy) and prioritize healing a little less (because if you spend the game healing you're never going to get gens done). I find him a pain to play against and don't understand killers complaints about him. He has a built in survivor finder and sprint burst and once he hits you in frenzy you HAVE to mend or be downed. The worst situation is when he focuses on you and hits you once or twice in frenzy, he drops the chase while you run to mend, then he picks up the chase while you're mending. You're just screwed. One other risky strategy is to allow yourself to be hit first if you're around other survivors since he will usually hit as many as he can then chase the last guy he hit. This way you can sometimes avoid being the hard target. But this doesn't really help the team. If you're a good runner you should let yourself be the hard target, if not, then maybe take the first hit.

  • Heres some resolution ideas for you guys (feel free to add your own):

    Survivors:

    • I'll stop dc'ing when the match takes 2 seconds too long to load
    • I'll stop rage quitting and screwing over the rest of the team just because i'm an immature twit
    • I'll start prioritizing saving hooked survivors instead of focusing on my gen which i'm already 30% through!
    • I'll stop running toward the hooked survivor when being chased so that other survivors can make the save
    • I'll be braver and take a hit for an injured survivor rather than let them get downed because its better for the team
    • If I see someone almost done breaking an activated totem (or other important action) when the killer is coming i'll distract the killer instead of just hiding
    • I'll grow a pair and not be afraid to take a hit in order to rescue a survivor.
    • I'll crouch when playing the hag
    • I'll crouch when playing the hag
    • I'll crouch when playing the hag
    • I'll recognize that working a generator, saving someone or healing someone should take priority over searching a chest or breaking a dull totem.
    • i'll try to ALWAYS BE DOING SOMETHING ('something' doesn't include hiding)

    Killers:

    • I will not play 1 v 3 games as real games and instead acknowledge that the 3 REAL PEOPLE out there just got screwed by the dc so will try to make it fun for everyone.
    • I will stop overdoing the camping and tunnelling and admit that it's just the cheapest, easiest way to win even if it effectively ruins the game dynamic so that survivors will eventually stop playing
    • I'll stop being a hatch fairy and slugging the 3rd survivor to deny the hatch because the smart survivor response will be to just wait it out and drag the game out way too long... just because i'm afraid of the hatch and GOTTA HAVE MY 4K!!!
    • I'll stop dc'ing when things don't go my way
    • I'll give the last survivor the hatch more often (especially when the hatch is RIGHT THERE)
    • I'll make an effort to realize i'm playing against 4 real people and can help make the game fun instead of obsessing over 4ks
    • I'll realize that being a jerk in the way I approach the game doesn't make me 'more like a killer'. it just makes me a jerk playing the killer. Ignoring sportsmanship doesn't make me cool.

I don't need to hear killer responses defending their right to do all the things I listed. I refer you to the 1st and last points. Yes, you have every right, but you can also help make it a lot more fun out there instead of getting a few more bloodpoints.

If all these things came true, man it would be a Happy New Year!

  • Ive played against it at level 1 twice this weekend. A couple gens get done but once 1 survivor is dead getting 4 gens done is a tall order. All he does is grab u and youre dead. I mean come on. Where the hell is the balance there? Seriously. Give survivors an ultra rare perk like that that makes us invincible. Lets see how the killers react.
