How to counter Legion?

Most higher ranks will say that Legion is far to weak and - in theory - I understand their position. However, in low or mid-rank games I often see Legion doing 3 or 4 kills easily. I think the problem is that there is no direct counter to his power. If you are already hurt, how do you counter a Legion who refuses to use his power unless you drop a pallet? If you drop the pallet, he hits you again, if you don't use the pallet he gains blood lust and gets you down with the regular attack?

Can someone provide a strategy for non-top-tier players?

  • Stay at the edge of the terror radius, and use exhaustion perks to put huge distances between the two of you. Make legion work for those chases.

    Hide. Play stealth.
    Loop.
Legion is hideously slow without those powers.

Bloodlust isblost when they break a pallet, when they are stunned by a pallet, or they hit someone.

In the end though, all you can do against Legion Is all you can do against any killer chasing you. Lose them and/or waste their time.

  • Yes he has no actuall counter. Only thing survivors can do is gen rush. Which will work since Legin is currently really slow on downing survivors with his power addonless. (that isn't the case for rank 10-20)

You can try to stealth him or confuse him after he hits you with his power. But that won't work on good legions so. Just do gens, it's only thing you can do.

  • The only "counter" to legion is stealth and gen rush.... if you're found and the killer has about a week worth play time most likely you're going to be put on hook.... the frenzy has no counter nor can be outplayed in a 1v1 on top of that the legion can cheese the chase by simply watching the scratch marks and blood
  • He has no counterplay.
He's unfun, doesn't take skill and every survivor is pretty much at the same skill level if they face Legion.
"genrush" isn't really a counterplay, it's just... doing the objective, what you do anyway against any Killer.

    This.

  • I’ve been using Spine Chill.  I don’t consider myself one of the best players, but I am experienced.  Approaching 5k hours, with over 3k of that as Survivor.  I will say out of all the Killers, Legion is the most unfun to play against.  I would rather even play against Nurse, and I’ve despised her since she was released.

My reasoning for Spine Chill, you get the jump on if he is approaching you.  His terror radius at base is 24m (iirc) without Monitor and Abuse added into the mix.  Spine Chill proc’s at 32m, so it only makes sense.  It’s also really useful against all killers, hate Prayer Beads Spirit?  Juke her with ease when you run Spine Chill, it’s hilarious.

He truly has no counters tbf, but Spine Chill helps.
  • How to counter play a Huntress chasing you down with no hatchets? That's essentially what you're equating.

You learn to play. I don't mean this in a derogatory way at all either, this is literally the answer to your issue. A person with even a decent level of understanding in this game can loop a Legion chasing them with no power for an entire 5 gens. You just need to practice. No Legion should ever be M1 hitting you with no power use unless you are misplaying really, really badly.

There's a 2 fold problem with Legion: His power is both a crutch and a weakness. If you're already injured then he wont use his power on you so best just do generators and be immersed and hide loop around a pallet until he's forced to use his power to catch up. He may tunnel one guy, but most of the gens will be done with this strategy. Another option is jungle gyms but he's probably going to tunnel you until he gets that hook, main issue is relying on team mates to get the gens done.

Strategy wise you could grab adrenaline, it really messes him up late game since he just loses all pressure.

TLDR: He's stronger at your rank because players aren't doing gens.

  • You can't always beat him in a chase, but you can make it long enough that its not worth their time. If he continues to hit you through your pallets using feral frenzy, you has to hit you an additional (I'm pretty sure its) 4 times base. This is with a cool down on every attack and with waiting for his power to recharge to be able to reach you again. If the survivors are pretty spaced out, this means a lot of lost time for the legion.
  • With Legion I just prioritize avoiding his terror radius a little more (because of the ability to see auras in frenzy) and prioritize healing a little less (because if you spend the game healing you're never going to get gens done). I find him a pain to play against and don't understand killers complaints about him. He has a built in survivor finder and sprint burst and once he hits you in frenzy you HAVE to mend or be downed. The worst situation is when he focuses on you and hits you once or twice in frenzy, he drops the chase while you run to mend, then he picks up the chase while you're mending. You're just screwed. One other risky strategy is to allow yourself to be hit first if you're around other survivors since he will usually hit as many as he can then chase the last guy he hit. This way you can sometimes avoid being the hard target. But this doesn't really help the team. If you're a good runner you should let yourself be the hard target, if not, then maybe take the first hit.

  • They are not able to be countered effectively, while also being trash. They are the epitome of what’s wrong with killers, the very pinnacle

  • The only counter is just genrush. Yes, it's that dumb.

There's also the staying injured part, but considering the devs are going to buff him so being injured is more of a risk, it's honestly just going to make him more insufferable.

This killer needs to be reworked.

This is the Truth. If Legion wants you, he'll get you. There's nothing you can do.

  • You counter him, by DCing as soon as you see the Deep Wound State appear.

What doesn't help is, when survivors litterally know its a legion and can see one survivor get hit with Deep wounds on their status icons, they rush to the hooked survivor. WHEN IN THE TR.
if the legion see a Killer Instinct notification going towards a hooked survivor, they will rush to that point, the one trying to gwt unhooked geta hit, then he knocks both of you down with m1 because wow... You played yourselves.
Best counter play is have One survivor bait them to areas away from the rest so the other three can genrush imo.
Which risks one person being hooked. But if you can juke and hide, that survivor will be okay.

It's pretty much the same tactic you use with every other killer, you want them away from the gens, in a decent loopable area, with 3 expendable pallets. I have to do this strat all the time with Spirit and she's stronger than legion imo. I can actually force a legion into a 4 gen chase just from them wanting to tunnel me into mending then I use dead hard and force a chase sequence to activate again and hopefully just get hooked once and not camped (even if camped it's still a legion). If 3 people escape and I don't derank I'm not mad about being tunneled.

  • Genrush, solid teamwork, and/or looping.
