Survivors have the highest average potential but overall the average game is balanced.

I think people don't really understand the difference between "predicting" and "guessing".
Also.. why people want so much to punish people who are actually skilled with a killer? I played the Deathslinger for a month after release and I couldnt snapshot even if my life depended on that. I think if people put on the effort to Git GUD they should be rewarded...
Do you not see the flaw in your argument? What if the survivor is equally as good a player?

Huntress has 5 shots base and can down you from anywhere, deathslinger doesn't have that. Umbra destroyed me when I was playing slinger. I landed a lot of shots, but she used the delay to drop the pallet, or get through a window. Then her team genrushed me into oblivion.
I would be fine with slinger not having quick scope, but he would need at least three shots and the ability to down you over a pallet, otherwise he would just be a trash version of huntress.
You're right, Deathslinger has infinite shots.

Firstly I appreciate you taking time to respond.
People have made a few suggestion to add a slight-moderate CD when you cancel M2 to prevent free M2 spam thus a part of the forced zoning. I've mostly agreed since such change is good as M2 spam isn't really something I support and I wouldn't miss it from his base kit.
Now I've wondered if you have any problem with him as people say "not having counterplay" since his shot can't be reacted to. If you do then all other killers that have powers that survivors can't react to also need fixes which includes killers like huntress as when she charges her hatchet it's undodgeable via reacting. She can create the so called "lose-lose" scenarion just like DS but he can do so at different times and a bit more consistently which is what is supposed to be his biggest strenght.
My opinion is that he has counterplay and it's based of predictions. You need to know when are the optimal times for DS to shoots and react slightly before he decides it's time to shoots. I know that's very hard to do and can be very unrealiable but I don't see it as a bad thing since he has many weaknesses to counterweight it and survivors experince actually matters since it increases the odds of corectly predicting DS's shot. Some people (like me) also enjoy such risky playstyles so the subject of it beiing boring gameplay is kind of silly to me when everyone has diffrent definition of fun.
See I don't get that, you basically just said "blindly guess when he is going to shoot and the dodge before that." You're saying the counter is to see into the future. You have absolutely no idea when he is going to shoot. He might not shoot at all, because you guessed wrong five times and then he just M1s you or zoned you into a place where you can't dodge.
To your example of hatchets, yes, they are unreactable once its fully charged. However, the Huntress is drastically slowed and also has to wind up the charge, and also has an audio cue when the charge is finished. Its not even remotely comparable. The comparison would be if Huntress could instantly throw a fully charged hatchet at any time.
What is the "optimal time to shoot" as a DS? The DS can shoot whenever he has line of sight to you, which is going to happen very, very often. You are going to make 20 guesses a second every time he's in line of sight?
To me no, the survivor's experience is irrelevant when being chased by a Deathslinger. Almost every good survivor I know shares the sentiment. You can understand how Deathslinger works to the very bone, but the fact is you have to make a ridiculous number of guesses per second the Deathslinger can see you, and eventually you are going to lose one of those guesses, with "eventually" being seconds.
Deathslinger is the only killer in the game that zones people by literally existing, and I think that's silly.
-
Probably the only thing I can think of is adding a rapidly stacking slowdown that also quickly expires every time you ADS, just so there is at least some risk to the free zoning you get but even then, that doesn't even really fix anything does it? The threat of him quickscoping is always there and always faster than human reaction time so honestly I have no idea how to fix it.
-
I don't think either killer needs to be nerfed. Pyramid Head is definitely more fair than Deathslinger though, as his power has limited aiming, reduced movement speed while aiming, and a red glow where it will hit. With Deathslinger its pretty much entirely on the skill of the Deathslinger with a little bit of luck thrown in. Not as bad as Spirit or anything, but still pretty bleh to play against.
Still, neither are overpowered.
-
OP I have to ask, would you rather have a balanced boring game or a fun imbalanced game?

Ok and if someone IS really good and using their skill to beat you, isnt that the definition of being outplayed? You also mentioned in the video that teams can still beat deathslinger by splitting up and doing gens. Its a 4v1 game, not a 1v1 game. So now were back to "if you find a killer boring you need to get better" which you said in the video is a bs argument (its not). Beating a killer SHOULD be a team effort, otherwise we all might as well be playing cod or something.
If someone is good and is using their skill to outplay you, its only outplaying if you are on equal terms of input. Deathslinger is almost entirely on the Deathslinger's aim and input. I don't get how that's hard to understand.
Its like saying a GM chess player is outplaying another chess player when the second player only gets to use pawns and the first one gets to use every piece. Yes, the GM is really good and is using their skill to beat you, but he also has infinitely more options than you.

"He needs a nerf and a buff" 🤦♂️
Zubat is stupid good at this game. We all know that, aiming in and out omly works in the right areas of the map and if the survivors juke loke morons.
Come on man, even in the video I mention the Nurse / Deathslinger having to actually be good for this to be relevant. Yes, you can outplay people with bad aim any day, easily. I am talking about extremely good Nurses or Deathslingers that have no individual chase counters. In fact, the entire video is mostly about more experienced people with thousands of hours being bored of the game and explaining why that is. That's it.
-
Its not impossible at all. It takes two hatchets to down a survivor. Assuming you just immediately hook, thats 6 hatchets per player to kill them. You don't have to hit "15 different survivors" you just have to hit 15 hatchets in one match.
Not easy, mind you, but nowhere near impossible.
-
They are currently more broken than they have ever been. Its just incredible at this point.

I don't think the base premise of "Saying boring is an excuse" even makes sense. An excuse for what? Losing? You can win and still be extremely bored. If you're bored, you're bored.

You have a condescending tone, and you're very opinionated. Nothing wrong with the latter. Seeing as how you just opened yourself up to constructive criticism, I can respect that. I have strong opinions myself. And can come off as a jerk too. That's why it's easy to spot. As long as you're aware that you're doing it, it'll become easier to avoid. That's probably easier for me to say however because I'm not as famous as you with an army of people who wont tell me I'm being rude. But like I said, your response here was very positive, so maybe I was harsh.
I definitely am opinionated, that's for sure. I suppose its impossible to avoid sounding condescending sometimes as that kind of goes hand-in-hand with strong opinions but I will keep working on trying to minimize that as much as possible. Thanks for being reasonable.

You're being nice. That Scott dude is a classic know it all with a hard on for his own voice and opinions.
Otz is cool. Honestly some of the lesser known channels are a lot more entertaining.
Even if I have to do it one person at a time, can you let me know why you feel that way? I don't like being viewed like that and would hope to better myself.

am i the only one that gets needlessly triggered when people call t-bagging butt dancing

I think this is a world record for the longest a thread like this has existed without devolving into insults and being locked. Maybe ease up on the negative words about a few people being discussed and talk about the positives.
I'd have to choose my beautiful boyfriend Zubat, although he really does not give a ######### about most matches. Tofu is great, Umbra is a swell lass, and Otz has a great attitude.
Pretty much I will always prefer and think higher of good players that will admit their mistakes as opposed to those who blame the game first.
-
Pretty well written theory at least.
-
I have a feeling the new killer is not going to suck.
-
you guys realize literally anyone can edit this ######### right
-
For the record, stuff I've known has been both right and wrong and I am by no means a reliable source of info for leaks, nor would I leak the stuff if I did know it because thats a dbag move.

While I absolutely think survivors shouldn't all spawn right on top of a generator and should have to walk a decent distance to one, you absolutely could have saved this generator by being smarter. You spent pretty much half the generator's completion timer looking around shack when there was absolutely no sign of anyone being there. Had you just gotten slightly in range of shack to listen for a generator and doubled back the the next gen, you would have found all four of them on it and had an extremely good Frenzy going.
-
Eventually, yes. Still as of now, no.
-
Because anything that isn't currently what the other player finds to be a wonderful time is toxic. This community can be so dramatic.
-
Am I taking crazy pills? STBFL only works on basic attacks. Demon Strike is not a basic attack. Is there some crazy exception I somehow don't know about?
-
I think a lot of people are not getting the issue here. Deathslinger is not overpowered, and in fact I think he's weaker than someone like the Huntress. However, the has the same problems as old Legion or Spirit where very little the survivors do actually matters. You can't really dodge his shots at close range because there is zero indicator he's going to shoot you until it already happens, so the counterplay is again like Spirit, just guessing if he's going to shoot. If he shoots and you dodge, great, if he doesn't shoot, he's just zoned you and now you get hit. It really isn't great gameplay at all.
The saving grace is that he's actually fun to play at least compared to say, old Legion.
-
I don't think I've ever lost an Iridescent Head game in my entire time playing DBD. Couple that with a Mori and I'm pretty sure there's no team I'd lose to except on like, Lery's / Hawkins, etc.
Edit: need to make this clear I'm talking about how absurdly brokenly strong Iridescent Head and Moris are, not how big a wee wee I have.
-
There is absolutely zero chance of them abandoning DBD for the near future.

Well .. yeah?
98% of people who play Oni run the addon that lets him see survivors auras if they walk into their blood orbs. It's considered a very rare addon, I've come across one on every 2 or 3 bloodwebs until the level I have him at now (43).
Some guy above proved my point, he doesn't efficiently do it in 1-2 minutes, more like 10 seconds. Why heal against a killer that can 1. see you healing / walking around and 2. can down you instantly?
smh 🤡🤡
Pretty much no one uses that addon. Its by far his worst.
-
@CrescentGent said:
Before I continue, let me preface this with "I'm a killer main" but I also play Survivor and I have been a fair amount recently.
Anyway. Recently, I have gotten into 3 games, back to back with The Oni. Now the way to beat the Oni is to gen rush him, don't both healing. However, personally, I feel that the Oni should be nerfed in many a capacity
For a start, he can whip around corners with his demon dash, who came up with that and why? With the Billy, it's a tad different, you have a chance to miss but with the Oni, it's near impossible to miss. Especially around trucks etc.
and lastly but certainly not least. He gains blood fury ridiculously quick, I get the idea of the power but my god, he can go from Blood Fury to Demon Dash to Downed Survivor to Hooked Survivor and back to Blood Fury again within easily 1-2 minutes if he's efficient. Why?
Please, nerf him.
Also, off topic. Why did BHVR feel the need to remove the thing where you can't leave the trial with a bear trap on your head from the Pig, that's literally her entire kit and is precisely the point of the bear trap and yet they removed it. Now Pig mains get to be bullied at the gates and still escape, nice one.
don't bother healing
how is he getting his power so frequently!?

Op is attempting to point out that the survivors played like trash, and still completed all generators.
As usual this goes over every ones head and they just focus on the 4k that he got against terrible opponents.... who still did all 5 gens... even tho they were terrible... and on coms, (so basically cheating)
Big whoosh.
why are half the people in this thread ignoring the speed limiter leatherface with basically no perkss

ah yes this literal tournament squad is another great example. I also watched the game and he made SEVERAL mistakes.

You obviously don’t see the problem, Otz is one of the best killers in the game. Not everyone is the best killer in the game. The survivors made so many mistakes you can’t even count them, and because of that Otz destroyed with the terrible build he had and he made the smallest mistake in the whole match and everyone is back up and gen rushes the hell out of him it’s a cruel joke is what it is.
I do see the problem, but this video doesn't address it all. Even the best killer on the planet should struggle a little using the worst perks, the worst killer, and the worst addons all in the same game.
-
Man I really hate when people post things like this. Like don't get me wrong, there are numerous problems with the game, but you've linked a video of Otz playing one of the worst killers in the game with addons that make him even worse, intentionally with the worst perks in the game, and he still 4ks.
These examples are always so terrible. He used literally the weakest ######### you can possibly use and still killed everyone. ######### else do you want?

I can't play the killer until it's out on console, but what I think is that the instant aiming will become very deadly with (almost) no scope shots. If you instantly shoot, without iron sight aiming, can really survivors dodge it? I don't know, it's a serious question.
Of course it would have to be a near to mid range shot to hope to actually hit the survivor considering the small hitbox of the spear, but coming from FPS games I can see that becoming a real thing.
Yes, you can dodge it on reaction assuming he's not in melee range.
-
@Nurgling7 said:
Currently(changes from PTB pending):
Iron sights are significant for those not using crosshairs on Huntress.
Instant aim and fire is great at loops and much harder to dodge.
Smaller terror radius is significant over humming.
Deep wounds actually matters more on a killer with a smaller terror radius. Survivors have to respect the ranged threat from a smaller terror radius and need to spend time healing. DW adds to healing time.
Reload is infinitely better.
I keep seeing people bring up the instant aiming as a plus compared to Huntress but as a survivor all you have to do is knee-jerk turn any direction the second you see his arms raise and you'll dodge it, assuming he doesn't predict where you'll dodge.
You could then bring up the counter-argument of "Well then I can just hold it and make them dodge as I continue aiming" but then Huntress can do that already and with a better result.
-
If it gets more people to stop doing gens and run around dicking hooks all game I see it as a legit buff to killer. I like the change (for the most part)
-
I mean if they take two hits you're just 1-for-1ing so you don't really lose much. Not that big of a deal tbh
-
@fcc2014 said:
I'm all for the hitbox feeling legit. I have zero problem with this. When they tried fixing huntress hitbox the outrage was crazy.
Because they broke it. Hatchets phased through people.
-
The game is more balanced than people give it credit but I wouldn't say the majority are well balanced
-
Based off the map leak, The Gunslinger.
-
As much as I love abusing it, hitboxes are assuredly not fine with Huntress when in a healing or generator repair animation. (Its as if you are standing up). No latency involved at all
-
I mean kinda true, but you do need Ruin to not play like a dick, though.

Again, you don't seem to understand game mechanics. I don't care that you're a professional streamer, but you might want to think outside the box every once in a while. Your so called method of slugging and reviving, would be a bad play by survivors. But then you don't like stealthy play. Sorry, but you don't know everything, and neither do I, but I do know that this is easy to implement, and would be fair.
..what? I didn't even see a counter argument there you just basically said I dont know what I'm talking about and adressed nothing.
-
@CashelP14 said:
This system is also completely flawed. Killer brings a mori, tunnels that survivor and gets a free win.
Otherwise I get downed immediately so I don't waste anything. Then the good survivors just proceed to loop the killer forever. That early hook will make absolutely no difference in the end if the killer isn't good enough.
Scott's suggestion isn't great either. The game needs to incentivise survivors to do more than just gens.
I think you drastically underestimate the snowball effect of an early hook. That being said, this isn't intended to solely fix the game. Its meant to be a very minor thing that addresses some issues while being very easy to implement so its more of a "why NOT add this until maps are all fixed"

The top killers still absolutely demolish almost any solo Q team, barring a really unfavorable map.
Killers still have so many crutches they can put on. Be it add-ons, entire characters (freddy, nurse, spirit), perks, moris, hawkins/lery offerings, etc.
"Barring a really unfavorable map" is the key modifier here considering the majority are unfavorablr for killer
