You obviously didn't read what I posted. Once a survivor is downed, the effect is Paused. This will have not help a slugging killer in any way, unless the survivors play poorly. In which case, you're going to lose anyway.
The irony of saying I didn't read your post when you didnt read where I addressed that.

Gen speeds are fine. You only get gen rushed if you are chasing 1 survivor for minutes at a time and refuse to break chase.
If it is taking them minutes to go down, they are better than you. If you can't find a single survivor in the whole game who you can down in a reasonable amount of time, the entire lobby is better than you, and you deserve to lose.
Simple, really.
Scott is a huntress main so it's no wonder he is complaining he can't slap on the braindead ruin and now actually gets punished for mis-positioning his 110 killer on the map.
I'm not a Huntress main and perhaps someday people will realize I'm not complaining for myself I'm complaining for the 99% of other people who don't have the luxury of playing this game for a living.
-
That would not be fair to survivors. You can't penalize survivors just because the killer is bad and can't down or hook people. It would also heavily encourage and in fact reward excessive slugging. Even if it gets disabled when a survivor is downed, it would start back up when the survivor is picked, meaning the killer could go around slugging everyone, keeping them injured, and then once everyone is injured and at a bad spot, then he will start hooking.
The more complex you make it the more abusable it becomes. This would be way too strong.
-
Man you really can't make people happy.
Mess around all match then die = toxic.
Dont mess around and gen rush = toxic.
The hell do you guys want. Do gens at exactly the correct rate and only use the ministry-approved perk selection with playstyles guidelines?

You're a killer main and have said repeatedly in videos that you don't play survivor much. Hell, your survivor gameplay is all meme stuff like the MoM quest.
You're a huntress main. I saw your video complaining about how losing ruin will make you try now. I'm sorry but if you never had to try to 4k, I have no sympathy for you having to actually play the game. The way you talked about having to play dirty now definitely cost you my respect. Though maining huntress on dedicated servers is a little suspect, since you throw car-sized hatchets that hit people around corners and through objects. I respected the long range shots at least.
Anyone saying you have a survivor bias has clearly never seen you play.
...wait I'm killer biased because I said I'll have to play sweatier without Ruin?
That's it? That's the reason you think I'm killer biased?
Seriously?

He's actually a streamer I stopped watching because of his immense killer bias. I'm not a fan. If you watch his videos, the game is a joke to him. Cake walk. And he still complains, just like Tru3, about how an already powerful or overpowered killer should get buffs.
I don't care what the top 0.01% of survivors could theoretically do. The fact is, most games are a slaughter on behalf of the killer. Scott's opinion is null and void to me because he's good enough that any complaint comes off as whining about wanting to 4k without trying every game.
My God I think you're the first person to ever say I am killer biased, not survivor biased. It happened.
-
@Feyd said:
OP is spot on. The whining killers just want to complain when they actually got outplayed for once. They had it so easy for so long that they are crushed by the weight of their own inadequacy and don't want to take the time to learn how to deal with it.
I sure feel outplayed when a gen is donw before I can get to it

@gamerscrybecauseofme said:
It's not a bad idea, certainly better than the "slow gen times" crap that gets thrown around. A few things bother me.
1) How much are gens slowed down by? Is it just gens or all survivor interactions? If 4 survivors with toolboxes, BNP and prove thyself can crack a gen in less than 30 seconds, then we must be looking at a 75-100% gen debuff before "contact" But how killer sided that? Does the killer receive any penalty? Can't debuff one side and not the other then call it fair.
2) New meta, instead of finding gens, go straight to sabotaging/99% hooks instead. Prepare for when the game starts. We are talking about helping the kind of killers that struggle finding Survivors and getting hooks quickly when they do, see how happy they are when there's no hooks to put survivors on.
3) As much as this idea is supposed to help the "low mobility" killers, it swings them a little over the mark. To the great trapper and hag mains, that like to setup before hunting, we already 4k even after 2-3 gens pop quickly, now you've just given us more time to setup. It also makes the high mobility killers, even stronger than they were, so in all, this would just further encourage more spirits, nurses, billy, oni and Freddies. If the problem is "low mobility killers" then change them instead.
4) This idea assumes 4 man SWF is in play. Is it only for that scenario? I can tell you now, this isn't needed, at all, against 4 randoms. I will also say, that some 2 and 3 man squads can be difficult to manage too, while most are just #########. How does it balance around this?
5) Do killer hexes and perks still apply during the slowdown period? Corrupt intervention and haunted ground are buffed with this.
There's just 5 of the top of my head. The trouble with content streamers, they're too closed minded and lack creative problem solving skills. Most the things they suggest, are just whimsical and emotional, with little to no real thought, it's why this dude couldn't really come up with any negatives to his idea.
1.) 50%. Only generators. I am not balancing it for "4 brand new parts and prove Thyself" because that situation is ridiculous.
2.) Thats not a problem either. If survivors are spending all their time saboing hooks no one is doing generators which means you have an unlimited time to win.
3.) This part sort of implies Trapper doesn't need a buff which almost no one will agree with, no matter how good you are at him. It doesn't really make high mobility killers stronger at all because the effect will end with them immediately due to the fact they can actually get to survivors quickly. The solution of just "changing every non mobility killer" is completely unrealistic and will not happen.
4.) I didn't mention SWF anywhere in this and I'm not sure why you brought it. Even so, four people being in a group or being solo doesn't change the fact that it takes almost an entire generators worth of time to traverse some maps, which is what this is for.
5.) Yes, except Corrupt Intervention, which would start after the Warmup. I am also not sure how you see it solely as a buff for totems because nothing about the totem breaking speed is changed. Hell, it might actually be an nerf for totems since people wouldn't immediately go on generators and instead look for totems.
I'm not sure where the lack of 'creative problem solving skills' comes in. I assure you I have thought about almost every counterargument to this, and in doing so, learned some flaws that had to be addressed (like stalking with GF and Myers, for example)

Nothing too crazy to code, not sure about that there is a lot of things to take in consideration when coding. It's not something that you can add or remove and everything will work.
Ive thought about it and it really is very simple because the game already has the functions needed. Passive gen slowdown is already an easily modified variable (Thanataphobia, Dying Light etc). There are also scoring events for the chase, the hit, you already have functions for seeing if something is in proximity. You guys have all the base things needed.

Yeah. This is the one problem I see with how it relates to those two. I don’t like the idea of “free” stalk time.Something would need to be done there.
Could be something as simple as whenever you use your power to interact with a survivor the mechanic ends

They would have to rework corrupt intervention, besides that, I honestly don't think it would work like it would make the game way to easy for Billy, Spirit, Freddy, Nurse and killers that have really good map control.
Actually killers with really good map control would benefit almost nothing from this mechanic because they'd start a chase immediately. That's the point. It equalizes those with and without map pressure in the beginning.
-
@KingOfBadRNG said:
There a few flaws with this like if the killer moon walk or if the killer refuses to make a effort chase and have the game slow down by 50 percent for the entire game.
You can moonwalk all you want but you have to hit them at some point. A two-minute timer as people have suggested would be a good idea as well

whats bad about legitimate stealth lmao
Unfortunately for people who do enjoy stealth, the game does not really function with stealth as a good idea. Its high risk medium reward, while looping is low risk high reward.
For example, even if you are on a gen and you try to hide the millisecond you hear a terror radius begin, you have like 6 seconds to get where you're trying to go before the killer is at the spot you were. Because you're being stealthy, you didn't run, so you're not moving very far in that 6 seconds at all. Any good killer is going to know the areas to check, knowing someone was just on this generator.
Then, if you're caught, you're dead, as opposed to a looper who is always trying to make distance from the killer. Sometimes stealthy players do evade me. Most of the time, I catch them in a complete dead area because they chose to hide there instead of using the other defensive mechanics of the game.
There's nothing wrong with that playstyle, but it is definitely objectively weaker than looping against good killers.
Also, in the scenario, if you're fleeing every time you hear the faintest heart beat, the 15 times the killer isn't actually coming to you you're spending time not doing generators and generally being useless.
-
If one more person implies the only way to win as killer is to get 12 hooks imma lose it

I thought we had established (and been told) that the data was unreliable and not used for balance, else Trapper would be nerfed and Nurse would be buffed.
There are too many variables at play. For example, most Survivors at Red Ranks currently are boosted. The ranking system is...not great and Rank Reset doesn't help. BUT, the system for Killer is working fine, meaning most Red Rank Killers are supposed to be there. Ergo, there can be a massive skill difference between Killers and Survivors at Red Ranks, inflating kill rates.
Is that true? I do not know, but it seems highly likely. That's just one variable, I am sure there are plenty more.
Oh I agree the data doesn't mean much, but he was asking for data that was already have, as useless as it is.

This is actually my question.
But the devs have the data as to whether or not streaks like this are common or uncommon.
If they're uncommon then oh well. If they're relatively common, then is it intended for individual survival rates to be high?
Eh? Don't we already have survival rates? And they're almost all below 50% for each killer?
-
Its stressful because your entire team is yourself. Survivors are only 25% of their own team so they have less individual responsibility.

Not me, but judging by this thread, you evidently aren't good at Survivor, so I imagine being better than you wouldn't be a high bar to set.
So I talk about survivors that are better than both of us still dying despite you claiming how easy it is to "just loop." You then mockingly say "Better" as if no one could be better than us, then just randomly transition into an attack on my skill level even though I involved both of us in the original comparison to better players.
What is wrong with you

Well, that's just you being incorrect, then. Ivories allow you to reduce the maximum amount of hooks needed to kill everyone by one-sixth. They're not that great.
I'm sorry if you really cannot understand how instantly taking 25% of the team out of the match permanently doesn't shift the game massively in the killer's favor you just do not understand how this game works at all. If its a 3v1 with 4 gens, even 3 gens, it becomes nearly impossible to lose (few exceptions do occur, though)

They have a couple busted options (spelled "one busted option unless you're someone like Huntress and actually have good UR addons, that option being an ebony mori") that appear maybe once per every couple of bloodwebs, meanwhile Survivors have access to game-changing second-chance Perks that they can freely use every single game, mere brown and yellow items that make them significantly stronger than they already are, can erase their own mistakes easily, can erase each other's mistakes with a little basic game sense and positioning... the list goes on.
Granted, I will say this much: When all else fails, just play Spirit. But that's 1 Killer out of, what, 18?
I'd argue even a single Ivory Mori used in a tunnely fashion is stronger than anything a survivor could possibly bring, barring maybe a Key (which I think are also dumb).

Difference is, Survivors are actually strong and have the majority of things handed out to them. Killers enjoy no such luxury.
If you're that upset with the strength of survivors then just use the overpowered ######### killers have and balance it out. Obviously I wish the weaker killers had potential too but you're acting like killers also don't have extremely busted options as well.

Can't present evidence if people don't share it.
I promise you nobody is doing massive escape streaks on their own in solo queue. The only reason these are even possible is because people aid them specifically, going as far as to die for them or disconnecting to give them the hatch.

Unless they farm in the Killer's face but that's a different story.
okay then my equally dumb response is get better at killer and suddenly all these issues go away 99% of the time.

I mean, having thousands of hours in a game isn't streamer exclusive though; but yes, that does help with the credibility.
But you can't deny the following size is a huge leverage point. A tiny streamer with 8000 hours in DBD who has streamed all of it and uploaded it all to Youtube could say...disagree with you or Tofu about something and their opinion could end up dismissed because of the amount of people who watch you vs them. So it's not always about recorded proof, but it is a huge factor. But that's a community issue, not a skill issue lol
And I would argue that smaller streamer has just much of a weight in the discussion, then. But like you said, yeah, that's a community issue.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1062464#Comment_1062464
I'll even go one step further and say none of them are probably the best killer/survivor content creators. There's hundreds of skilled players who are streamers sitting at 0-3 viewers, and YouTuber's who are amazing sitting at 1-2 views a month because they don't clickbait like almost everyone else.
True, but there's a reason why streamer opinions are valued a little more, and its not because they just decided to open OBS one day. Its because they have thousands of hours of recorded proof of skill, compared to another person who is the same rank, but we've never seen them play a single time. It has nothing to do with being a streamer like, as a job, its just they have recorded proof of things, that's all.
-
@McLightning said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1062441#Comment_1062441
Again - them being content creators means nothing in terms of skill. For every content creator that streams DBD, or any game, there's someone out there who doesn't stream who is head and shoulders better than they are. Marth included. Marth and Zubat are just the best we know about. Again, I'm not saying any of them are bad (and I would put Ralph ahead of Zubat in terms of Huntress skill), they are just "nothing special" when compared to than any other red rank killer main. They are fun to watch, and that's why people hold them in such high regard.
the problem with "any other red rank killer main" is Red rank occupies an absolutely massive skillgap because the rank system doesn't work.

Alright, you got me there. I’ll have to actually concede on that one. Still, however, my point of “4 Survivors are significantly stronger than 1 Killer” still stands, and it still stands that such balance is absolutely unreasonable.
Also, in regards to the insults: I know it’s not serious, and I’m not taking it seriously. I stopped taking it seriously after you called the power role philosophy “bullshit” and said you were “literally seething with anger” (before immediately proceeding to go, “Its just a game, why you heff to be mad” I might add; hypocrisy much?).
If you think I’m truly mad, meanwhile I’m out here in the middle of the night shamelessly dancing to JoJo music, well... Let’s just say my reasons for personally insulting you have nothing to do with frustration or anger.

Very well, since you can’t read, let me reword the sentence to make it easier for you to understand.
”And let’s concede here and say that hypothetically, Survivors are individually weaker than the Killer.”
It should be pretty obvious from my stance and the rest of that post that this concession was merely theoretical. I was basically saying, “Let’s pretend that Survivors are individually weaker than the Killer as you say they are.” And frankly, I don’t see how my message could have been interpreted any differently if you actually read the whole thing.
So you're telling me that you can't a kill a survivor before all the generators are done? That's the only stance you could have if you think individual survivors are more powerful than the killer. You're telling me you're getting into 5 gen chases all the time.
Also you really gotta relax with the personal insults. We're discussing a video game. It ain't that serious.

You shouldn't be obligated to snowball in order to win. Otz knows how to snowball (he plays trapper, which is mainly the only way to 4k with him) Also, in game you take rushed decisions because you're there, of course if you analize them afterwards you'll see them clear as day.
The best example of how broken the game is sometimes, is this one, basically the same scenario but with a low mobility killer without instadowns:
idk man, knowing how to not tunnel someone that has DS when there's a clear other free down is not something you can only realize in hindsight. its a pretty glaring simple mistake. I'm pretty sure he admitted to the mistake regardless.

Great strawman, buddy. I can see you are in fact seething with anger; a rational person wouldn’t be saying such silly things.
I see no further need to continue this when you have such a weak argument as that. Good day to you, sir.
Oh, and another thing: Your Oni guide sucks.
you're kinda weird my guy. taking things a little personal, there. at least you conceded one survivor is not stronger than the killer. Yes, I’m clarifying exactly that. Survivors are capable of 1v1ing a Killer in a chase, even if the Killer is not only of equal skill but actually better than them if the map is something like Hadnofun or Thompson. And even if they aren’t, they can choose to be ludicrously inefficient with pallets and it simply won’t matter if their teammates do gens. And if you abandon that Survivor to pressure gens? Good luck dealing with someone who can actually loop while the guy you abandoned freely does generators with no strain whatsoever. Combine with that the slew of second-chance Perks Survivors have at their disposal, the simple act of spreading out over most maps spreading most Killers thinner than a sheet of paper, and the ludicrously short time needed to crank out gens with 2 or 3 Survivors on them, and... yeah. A single Survivor can cost a Killer the entire game even if they’re bad. Individual Survivors are just as strong as, if not stronger than, Killers.
Did you forget the part where the killer can ######### kill people and survivors can't.

You’re trying to sit here and tell me that a killer shouldn’t be the power role when they HAVE to be in order to be equal in power to the Survivors. That’s what a power role is. It’s not a role that is distinctly dominant over everyone else without exception; it is a role that is comparatively stronger to make up for its fewer numbers in order to be able to properly combat the larger numbers of the enemy team.
So which is it Scott? Should Killers be the power role, or should they be weak?
Also that use of a 2011-era meme as a reaction image is going to make me puke blood.
Are you claiming that a killer is not stronger than a survivor? Want to make sure I'm arguing your actual viewpoint first.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1062263#Comment_1062263
Do you people not know how the “power role” works? A member of the power role is meant to be so much more powerful than a member of the weak role to the point where the combined force of the multiple members of the weak role are equivalent to the singular force of the power role, assuming everyone is of equal skill. That’s what a “power role” is, and yes, that is what the Killer vs. Survivor match-up should be. Killers need to be the power role because if a Survivor is capable of 1v1ing a Killer of equal skill, then at that point, it’s just a team of 4 versus 1 guy.
There are quadruple the amount of Survivors in a match than there are Killers. By that rule, in order to be properly balanced, a Killer’s kit should be four times stronger than a Survivor’s kit. Otherwise, why would you ever play Killer when you can just play Survivor and have an automatic sheer advantage?
In short: Yes, Killers should be the power role. That’s how this works.
In regards to DBD being a horror game: Yes, I agree, it’s not scary. But the thing is, it’s supposed to be. It’s meant to be. It was designed by its makers to be. If they want it to be scary, then the Killers need to feel overwhelmingly imposing. Simple as.
As for you, Scott...
”This game would be absolute trash if that's how every survivor felt. "Hey guys lets group and feel like a chew toy for 10 minutes, sounds great!"”
Bro, that is literally makes horror games fun. Let me repeat: THAT IS WHY PEOPLE PLAY HORROR GAMES. If people weren’t entertained by feeling like a chew toy, horror would not be nearly as popular a genre as it is. But not only is it popular; it’s oversaturated to a ridiculous degree because of just how much people adore the feeling of being scared from how defenseless they are.
If you don’t want to feel like a chew toy, that’s fine. Don’t play horror games. It’s simple.
Me: it should be balanced so both sides have combined equal power.
You: Do you people not know how the "power role" works? A member of the power role is meant to be so much more powerful than a member of the weak role to the point where the combined force of the multiple members of the weak role are equivalent to the singular force of the power role
This game really is not played in any duration past its honeymoon phase as a horror game. Very few people think of it like that.

Considering it’s meant to be the power role and the entire population of the weak role should have their skills as individuals and as a team consistently strained against the power role, yes, I expect exactly that. Considering Dead By Daylight is meant to be a horror game, meaning Survivors should feel so utterly oppressed and defenseless to the point of fear, I expect that in ever greater quantity.
Ugh will people please stop with this "power role" and "DBD is a Horror game" bullshit. Neither side should be the power role, it should be balanced so both sides have combined equal power. DBD is a horror game for the first week you play it, then its a cat-and-mouse game for the next 6000 hours.
"Survivors should feel...defenseless to the point of fear." Please. This isn't Amnesia: The Dark Descent. This game would be absolute trash if that's how every survivor felt. "Hey guys lets group and feel like a chew toy for 10 minutes, sounds great!"

Yes, they can be. The issue is, they often aren’t. Second chance Perks are one thing, but dropping a pallet or two a little early or getting hit when you shouldn’t have will usually be meaningless if you are given the resources (spelt “loops”) to keep the Killer going further. That and, well, unlike Killers, Survivors have 3 entire teammates to pick up their slack. A killer simply cannot be in multiple places at once and reach people from afar in a timely manner, unless that’s the idea behind their power, like Hag or Huntress.
Well...are you expecting the role in which you are 100% of the team to somehow be less stressful and less reliant on mistakes than the role in which you are 25% of your team?

This is... literally what we’re saying, Scott. A single additional mistake on Otz’s part or even the decision to play a Killer who isn’t top tier would have completely cost him this game, despite the fact that he was clearly so much better than these Survivors. The fact that Survivors came so close to victory when they were getting this stomped goes to show that Killers literally cannot afford to make a single mistake while Survivors can afford to make plenty. Hell, if he was playing some trash tier meme machine like Legion or Plague, he could have played literally perfectly and it wouldn’t have mattered.
The point isn’t whether or not he won. The point is that he came so close to not winning as a top-tier Killer who was clearly leagues above all four of the Survivors in terms of skill.
He didn't just make "one" mistake. I'm saying I saw one massive mistake in the first two minutes. During that time he also smashed into a bunch of ######### (being Yamaoka's that's totally fair).
Both sides are going to make numerous mistakes. No one ever plays perfectly. You say survivors can make more mistakes which again is reliant on the butterfly effect. Say a survivor does make that mistake, gets caught out of position, then gets hooked in a deadzone. Now down the line, he's endangering the rescuer, potentially killing both of them now, all because he made one mistake at one point. People pay attention to things like DS and Unbreakable and say "Look at all the second chances survivors have" which again, I don't disagree with, it can be annoying as hell getting "outperked", but they also tend to ignore the fact that survivor mistakes can be just as costly as killer mistakes.
