  • No, the emblem system needs to be reworked and simplified. It should go something like:

Survivors: Did you survive? Pip! Did you die? No pip, but your contribution (specifically gens and heals/unhooks) determines whether you de-pip or not.

Killers: Did you kill at least three survivors? Pip! Did you kill two survivors? Safety pip! Did you kill no more than one survivor? De-pip! Disconnects count as kills, and also camping is ruthlessly punished with a stacking permanent gen repair speed increase for every second you hang around the hook without another survivor in proximity.

Keep all the BP rewards and stuff for all the various kinds of actions. Harshly punish disconnects. But for the love of god, rework the terrible emblem system.

  • Emblem system is bad.

I mean, we told everybody a battle pass would be like this. Everyone said "You don't have to pay for it", "You're choosing to pay for the battle pass",etc.

Yeah, that's totally a "letter of the law" vs. "spirit of the law" line of debate, though. I have to assume that people who make this argument understand that they are taking a bad faith position, they just insist on not acknowledging the problems that come with this kind of system in terms of how it locks a lot of the player base out.

It's also a "have our cake and eat it too" case for Behavior, putting a Fortnite-style battle pass in a traditionally priced $19.99 game with $89.87 worth of expansion DLC (i.e. all the stuff that features new characters, not just cosmetics). Every non-F2P game that dips its toes into this particular pond experiences backlash, and it's because the publisher essentially takes consumers for suckers. Look at what happened with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, as a good example.

It's kind of a weird road to see this game go down. The irony is that most of the stuff in the Rift is pretty mediocre; I'm not too thrilled about charms (even as a concept), and quite a few of the cosmetic pieces are just recolors. I think the Tomes (the challenges) could potentially work even without the Rift tracks in place, but man those level 4 challenges are something else.

  • I have to assume the developers cannot possibly be this tone-deaf about their game, and that these level 4 challenges we're seeing right now aren't final.

If I'm wrong and they are this insane, it would be a shameless push for players to spend money to bypass challenges that everyone knows are functionally impossible. I will definitely stop engaging with the Archives altogether if this section of the tome hits the game in this state.

  • The event trappings feel very... I dunno, clinical? It's not really an event, outside of insisting upon itself that it is. It's just a different limited-time currency on a season pass track that was ripped off from Fortnite. Plus a Blood Hunt. That's literally all this "event" is.

Survivors complain about nurse with omegablink or 3+ blinks are overpowered. Nurse mains agree. BHVR nerfed the addons AND her basekit.

People give feedback about the basekit changes being overkill in the PTB etc. What does BHVR? Nerfed her basekit even more (takes longer to get your blinks back) and the 2 addons which made nurse nearly basekit got nerfed aswell.

Killers complained about insta heals being overpowered, especially in swf with multiple insta heals. A lot of survivors agreed. What does BHVR? A change that satisfied every killer (literally noone saw them as op anymore) but Survivors said it's not worth the rarity anymore. What's the next logical step of BHVR??? Riiiiight, nerf it even more even tho killer mains were fine with that just to piss of survivors.

Like, what is this disconnection to the community? This is so disrespectful. We gave you soooo much feedback and you guys were like "meh, even tho you made hundreds of posts about that, we don't care. You guys have no clue what you want and what is good for you."

PTB is just a joke at this point. Are we a joke to you, BHVR?

The forums are not a design committee.

The general perception of the PTB should look something like this: If it's there, it's happening. There might be minor tweaks here and there, but if it's come far enough along that it has hit the PTB, that IS the design direction, and it's probably not changing.

The Nurse changes were a foregone conclusion as soon as the PTB went live, and nothing was going to cause them to reverse course on what probably amounted to weeks of work.

Not saying you did it on purpose. Just try and pay attention to the thread titles, and while some are similar, because of repeated questions and discussions, I for one can remember my comments on each thread. But then again, that's just me. I understand you thought you were giving context as of player bases, however, countless numbers of people have already pointed that out on this thread.

It's too bad you can't remember that you're replying to a thread that's been dormant for a week.

    I was kidding.

But yeah, right now blindness is a minor inconvenience at best.

  • Maybe they could turn the screen entirely black!

  • My survivor experience changed for the better when I learned the value of Spine Chill and Bond. Thanks to PainReliever for showing me the light!

  • Thank you for intending to release the thing you said you would release.

Also, next time, please evaluate the risks of handcuffing a massive new game system to a calendar-specific event, so that you can avoid the bad optics in a worst-case scenario like this one.

Ive actually been thinking of lvling up Feng. Shes got that new cosmetic outfit in the store and I have like 23k shards... Im a killer main, so I dont have many survivors lvled.

I would never spend shards on cosmetics when they're way more useful for buying perks.

Either way, Feng has a bunch of nice perks. Alert really is criminally underrated.

I dont have kate lvled, but Ive been looking at that perk. I typically suck at chases, so having that to show me where each pallet and window is...would be nice. Fixated atm is kinda meh. I only really use it for the speed boost for when I'm stealthing around a killer who's checking my area, but that 20% is just sad.

My other favorite fourth perk is Alert, which gives you frequent, perfect information with no distance limitation and no cooldown, whenever the killer performs an extremely common action.

Been using Spinechill, Bond, ironwill and fixated lately. I suck at chases, expecially against Spirit, so... being able to completely avoid them is nice. They just waste so much time looking for the guy who keeps working on this gen. Kick the gen, look around the general area, go to leave and realize...the gen isnt even sparking anymore...#########, lol.

This is my build, except for Fixated -- that fourth spot rotates a lot for me.

Right now, my fourth perk is Windows of Opportunity, which is secretly way better than everyone thinks it is. It's useful for planning out paths of egress ahead of time, and for knowing which areas of the map to avoid because the pallets are already gone. Anyone who says it is a noobs-only perk is crazy.

  • Spine Chill is the best survivor perk in the game.

  • I do think survivor BP needs to be a buffed a bit more across the board.

I also think too many people regard the survivor experience in a very individual, selfish way, when by design survivors are basically treated as a hive mind and need to think in group terms. Like, if you die, but everyone else escapes, it was still a victory. It doesn't matter what happened to YOU, it matters what the group outcome was. And the group outcome in this scenario was that survivors earned more BP than the killer.

  • If you're solo-queuing as a rank 15-20, there should be no possibility of getting matched to anyone higher than those ranks, ever.

  • This would be such a nice QoL change. It would get the game like 60% of the way to where it needs to be, in terms of building more accessibility and non-unreasonable time-sinkage into the grind. Then all they would have to do is make it way more reasonable to target the perks you want in the Bloodweb before level frigging 40.

  • lol are you serious

I mean honestly it's dead by daylights biggest event of the year for the game but they should have been working on it a long time ago. Say 6 months ago.

They were definitely working on it 6 months ago. The Archives system has been in the works for a long time.

The mistake was tying an immovable, calendar-specific event to the launch of a major new game system.

Nope, they can be any day (although we don't like to push an update on Friday just in case). We're sticking to the "as soon as possible" bit and trying to get it out before/by Halloween, if we can.

Now that's a good update on the situation. You ought to be saying this and stickying it in the News section.

  • The actual question you're asking is, why are so many bad players entitled? Lots of players, regardless of role, like to whine about "unfair" situations.

the last time this happened was with the clown and alot of people kept calling sony and microsoft because of it. lol

    You mean the Clown DLC?

This is a little different, because it's a time-sensitive event. They already have egg on their face, in terms of having botched the launch a holiday event -- but they've neglected to do much damage control on the forums and other social media, which I'd say is really important in a situation like this. Today is a really key day for a contrite update post, because it's the last "patch day" before Halloween.

Try to be optimistic, I'm sure we'd rather have an event that's working and late instead of an event that's in shambles and horribly broken.

I agree, and I'm not saying they should be patching the game this second if it's not ready. I'm saying they need to communicate an update about the situation, because a lot of people are probably assuming that today is patch day. Even if it's just "Here's an update: There's not much more to say," they need to say something.

  • @Peanits -- you guys are busily sabotaging your messaging again, as I type this. Post something. Literally sit down at your computer right now, type an update, and post it.

There are still a ton of people playing who don't read the forums, or aren't informed on what's going on, and are probably still confused about the delay or assuming the patch is today. Another Tuesday -- especially the Tuesday before Halloween -- without an update on the Halloween event situation just squanders more goodwill by the minute.

While I do understand (in part) that it wouldn't really be useful for new players since most of those perks are teachables, I have to disagree on the fact that perks are "locked" behind paid DLCs, since you can buy each and every one of them through the Shrine (regardless of which DLC they belong in), for Iridescent Shards: a currency that's gained for free and can be earned ad infinitum.

You need to think of this from the developer's perspective, in product terms. It would look unwelcoming to new players, because it would carry the expectation (or, at best, the perception) of extra buy-in.

You're thinking this from the perspective of the experienced player who is already in for a penny, in for a pound. I assure you that people like us are in the extreme minority of the overall audience. If I had to guess, I would predict that the overwhelming majority of DBD players only own the base game, with a select smattering of DLC at most.

It definitely SHOULD protect you from Franklin’s Demise. It makes sense.

That detail was probably overlooked when the perk was introduced into the game.

For everyone making this argument: How do you propose that would work? There are so many things that can happen with an item that White Ward could never work the way you're describing.

What if you drop the item that you brought? What if it gets Franklin'd, and someone else picks it up? What if you pick up a different item at some point?

White Ward does not say "You cannot drop items," it says "Prevents you from losing items on death." A Franklin's Demise immunity is not remotely the same, and this single perk is such an edge case anyway that it really doesn't matter.

Also: Nothing prevents you from recovering the item later. And items aren't even really that precious to begin with, either -- they're meant to be finite and disposable.

  • Items, yes. It's intended for the killer to be able to adjust their build, since they are at a numerical disadvantage.

I think it would improve things if the killer didn't see the survivors' names, though.

  • Your TL;DR needs a TL;DR. 😄

I always drop a "gg" in post-game chat, regardless of circumstances, unless someone was clearly exploiting or there were a bunch of disconnects. It's just a good sportsmanship thing to me.

As we all know, every update comes with bugs, but according to peanits he stated that they found a very bad bug and they were fixing it

They also mentioned something about the rift not working properly in the update about 3.3.0

This shows that the devs want to make this event as playable and fun as possible

You shouldn't be angry the event got delayed, you should be happy they actually wanted to do this with the event in the first place!

I don't ever doubt that the developers have the best of intentions. They don't want their game to be broken. They want us to have fun, and they want to be proud of what they are making. Their goal isn't to botch things or frustrate anyone. There is no malice on their part.

I've said this elsewhere, but I DO believe that it was a mistake to handcuff the Halloween event -- a time-sensitive, calendar-specific event that is meant to coordinate around the real-world celebration occurring on October 31 -- to the launch of a major new game system and a new Unreal Engine upgrade.

That's a lot of potential risk factors right there. The engine upgrade is a complete wildcard, because all they can do is hope it doesn't cause unforeseeable issues (and hope that they have enough time to be reactive, if it does). And the new Rifts/Archives system has been under construction for a long time now, but they couldn't get the issues ironed out between the 3.3.0 PTB and the target launch date. Just based on the forum silence and the botched communication timeline, I would suspect that the entirety of Behaviour is ON FIRE trying to get this all worked out. So, don't assume they're just sitting on their hands or whatever; there's undoubtedly enormous pressure in their office right now. Given the situation and the risk of failure, they really should have played it safe and repurposed last year's Hallowed Blight mechanics.

After this is all resolved and in the rear view mirror, I hope that Behaviour: a) allows themselves a bigger window between PTB and launch for major new systems, to give themselves a bigger buffer to react to unforeseen problems; and b) the community management team is given more autonomy and unilateral power when it comes to crafting and deploying public messaging for these kinds of issues.

Welp... I'ma die sad. I love that movie... Sucks they couldn't get it

For clarification: The Ghostface mask used in the Scream movies is owned by a costume company called Fun World. Scream's filmmakers found the mask somewhere and liked the look of it, so they decided to license it for use in their movie.

Then it came time for sequels, and Fun World had them over a barrel, because the mask was essentially the logo and "brand image" for the entire Scream franchise. The first two seasons of the Scream TV show didn't use the mask, because it was too expensive to license from Fun World, with the budget that they had.

For the Ghostface character, Behaviour also licensed the mask from Fun World, but not anything having to do with the Scream franchise from Miramax/Dimension Films. The character is, of course, very reminiscent of the killer(s) from the Scream films, because that mask is so closely associated with Scream. But the DBD Ghostface's lore is completely original, and you'll notice that nothing about him makes any reference to Scream.

(It should also be noted that Fun World has always been extremely litigious about the Ghostface mask. For example, they recently sued an NBA player for using the mask as part of his own branding.)

  • This is probably the most reasonable pitch for a fifth perk slot I've seen, and the limitations seem workable.

The problem is that all of the exhaustion perks are locked behind teachables, and all but one arguably useful hex perk as well. And, a lot of those teachables are further locked behind DLC characters. If something like this were to be added, it would have to be done in a way that is accessible and useful to the lowest common denominator (i.e. players who have purchased the base game and no additional content).

  • Adding a fifth perk slot once you have P3-50'd a character and unlocked ALL perks for them? This would totally embrace and canonize the incredibly toxic and oppressive grind with no hope for improvement, and it would create a gulf between the "haves" and "have-nots" of DBD, but the gulf would be made of nothing but time. That is, if all you do is play DBD, maybe you would have a shot at "earning" this.

Only the extreme minority of players would be able to hit this milestone with, like, even a character or two in any reasonable time frame. My one-year anniversary is coming up next weekend, November 3, and I still haven't unlocked every teachable perk. How do you think it would look to the player base if that were the first step toward reaching a single character's full potential?

Not to mention the fact that having five perks would fundamentally alter the game balance in a really destructive way -- totally tilted in favor of survivors, I might add, because it carries the potential for four extra perks in play that the killer has to account for, while the killer would only have a single extra perk.

No, I dont like this idea.

  • I've played many games with communities that are faaaaaaaaaar worse than this one.

  • Also @Micheal_Myers -- bear in mind that other killers are "hard-countered" (and I use that term with a grain of salt) by specific meta perks and items. You've gotta be realistic and consider that the Shape's vulnerability to Spine Chill is an edge case, just as much as any of these are.

    • Urban Evasion vs. Hag
    • Object of Obsession vs. Nightmare

And my post was to get a buff for Myers because this change nerfs him?

And I asked what difference does myers have with ghostface because with this change they are pretty much 95% identical.

Aside from having different stalk mechanics and different stealth mechanics entirely, you mean?

I get what you're saying: They both stalk survivors to build meter for a one-shot down. They go about this very differently, though; Ghostface focuses and picks off survivors one at a time, and Myers pushes a berserk button and has to quickly disable as many survivors as he can. Ghostface also has a tactical on-demand stealth power, while Myers grows out of it (unless you're doing a weird add-on build).

Someone mentioned this in another thread, but think of the "nerf" this way: It's more of a "sidegrade." While Myers triggers Spine Chill and Premonition, he also now has zero terror radius at T1 without needing to bring Monitor & Abuse, which means you now have an extra perk slot for your T1 build. You also can't just assume every survivor is going to bring these perks, that'd be silly (and for any matches where no one is using those perks, this change is a buff to him).

    Hey all,

I'm a new player been playing a mix of survivor and killer, mainly playing huntress as killer and i've hit rank 14. I seem to have a hit a brick wall at this rank and have been facing a lot of 4 player SWF groups who all stick on one gen.

This issue I'm having is that when i get to the gen the four of them will split off into seperate directions and if i chase anyone the other three loop back onto the gen. So if i chase even for a min they get the gen done. Now even if i do down a player they will often send one off to get the hook and the other two will run to a far off gen, I make a point of moving away from the hook to avoid camping as such they often get the surv off the hook and get another gen a good way done.

I know there are certain perks i can get to help with this, but i don't have them yet, I did recently purchase pop goes the weasel but it's not helping a huge amount as more often than not the gen is already completed by the time i down and hook the person i'm chasing.

Just wondering what if anything i can do to help deal with this?

Huntress is really map-dependent, and you need to be able to reliably hit hatchets in order to create pressure. She has a hard time with map pressure because she's so slow, and you need a lot of game sense to avoid making mistakes and fight back when you encounter these kinds of tactics. Gen slowdown perks like Pop Goes the Weasel and Hex: Ruin are a pretty big help, too.

I don't want just want to be like "Use a different killer," but I personally find that I really struggle with Huntress as I start climbing the ranks, because she takes so much mechanical precision and map awareness to excel with.
