The reason self care was nerfed so hard is because it led to a run and heal playstyle, where new players just stopped doing everything to self heal and don't help the team, and pros used it just because it means players aren't wasting time healing so I wanted it to be more viable without an entire build around it.

Self care plus botany is barely a whole build around it, it's just two perks and you get to heal others with it too?

If you want a stronger self-care but with a little added risk could just run strength in shadows, or use inner strength.

Let me know who they are.

Honestly doubt that someone would stop playing just because of Ghoul. This killer is nowhere near as bad as past, present, and probably future blight, release krasue, or first legion, which is why the devs arent nerfing him.

Why would I let you know who they are? If this thread wasn't enough to show how much people dislike them, then I don't know what to tell you.

People who aren't playing the game aren't going to be telling you specifically "I stopped playing because of Ghoul" they have moved on until nerfs are posted, I know too many people who Ghoul was the final reason they stopped playing followed by the announcement of the QoL being cancelled.

Screaming anime child who grabs you through walls might excite you, but it certainly doesn't others, myself included. LMAO

I view all of the "locked in animation" stuff as pretty much the same. Being blinded during pick up or breaking a pallet on one side, and being hit with an ax or hatchet or a love tap from Pyramid Head or Dracula's flames on the other.

I do think repeatedly chain blinding shouldn't be a thing though. Maybe after the second blind killers get a mini-Lightborn effect for a few seconds?

You have that, it's called looking up while being blinded, if you are chain stunned with what little stuns are available in the game, it's like a really niche case.

Ghoul is honestly fine, he has clear counterplay and the vault tech works wonders against him. They should nerf blight instead. Make the blight 110% and give him the hug tech back. Make one of the speed addons basekit and then rework them.

Tell that to all the people who refuse to play now because of Ghoul lol

  • I'd love like a charge flash camera, that requires you to charge and flash like a flashbang. More unique items, or a flare gun. DBD needs more item variety honestly.

genuinely i think dbd becoming as competitive as its gotten is effectively killing the atmosphere for both sides, making people leave.

I wholeheartedly agree with this honestly, I hate the content creation space which is enabling this nonsense

  • Just run it with botany? It's far from awful, with that set up you heal yourself and others faster

  • The older lady is a really unique addition to our cast, so I voted for her. Thought I think they shouldn't make it hard to realise you need to scroll down to see them, feels like it's been done on purpose.

  • The 2 other survivor portraits, are hidden and its not clear that you can scroll down to vote for them,

shame coz the older lady is really unique, something we dont have in the cast yet.

  • I think having an option to always perma turn off chat to avoid the curiousity to click on the arrow wouldn't be a huge ask LOL

Some days I forget I have it open when I'm not in the mood for the off chance of negative interactions. Would be nice as like a just in case option.

So, just to make sure I understand, nerf all the meta killers into the ground and then give literally what upgrades to lower tier killers (nurse is blind forever, but trapper and dredge go from 5 second buffs to 10 second buffs)

I honestly feel the answer to the S-tiers being nerfed is in their mobility:

    -Nurse 1 blink
    -Blight 2 or 3 bounces
-Ghoul no 1st grab lock on or less distance traveled

Mobility is what makes them broken, they have good map presence and amazing chase

They need brought down to Dracula/Weskers/Hillbilly's level.

  • I honestly feel with how much is being taken away from us, it's about time they deal with some of our more painful points like the stronger killers with loads of mobility (Blight, Nurse, Kaneki) and focus on making the game more enjoyable for both sides.

If you make the game more enticing to casual players, more casual players will play, killers won't suddenly feel like they only go against sweat squads (which is pretty much caused by bad matchmaking too).

I can't stress enough how much more I'd enjoy this game with the S-tiers dealt with, I literally celebrate when I see any other killer rn.

You are not addressing subject of this thread. While killers should be on similar level - that is not the issue we are discussing here and it will also NEVER happen.

It doesn't matter if you nerf top tier killers, Singularity will still be able to break the game with Remember Me Haywire combination simply by the nature of his power while 38 killers will never, ever have any value from that perk in current form.

Strength of the killer is not the issue in here, the specific, rare interactions are.

What are you talking about, I am addressing it? I'm just saying that perks would be easier to balance if killers are not leaps and bounds from each other balance wise.

That's literally what this thread is about, it would be easier to just balance the killers than nerf every perk because of the strong killers, then buff them coz they are useless on weaker killers.

You're setting up a balance nightmare by making perks work on a per case basis.

  • Literally what Hyena said, there is like very few windows, it's what makes it such a unique map.

  • it'd just be easier if they brought the S-tiers down to like Wesker/Dracula's level honestly.

  • Honestly after the delayed antidote returning I've not had an issue playing against him anymore. Sure haste clown is scary af, but I've come to appreciate him more.

I don't think he needs nerfed, he'll be fine when they finally find a decent solution to tunneling, coz that's where it is oppressive if anything.

  • Probably a left over they didnt fix with us supposed to having the built in anti slug and tunnel unfortunately.

For whatever reason two friends tried DBD again. They played around 100 hours two years ago, but got frustrated and quit.

We are not doing well and im worried they will stop quickly again. I try to take aggro, but then the killer leaves and downs them pretty fast. Shoulder the burden gives them some time, but bc of the fast downs the gens are quite slow.

    Do you have any tips?

Custom games or 2v8 are the only really casual friendly options the game has, customs giving some form of progression would do wonders for introducing new people to the game as a community, allowing them to gain the bare minimum/learn about the game in a more fun environment without needing to tackle balance.

That picture just showed S-tier survivors as being 8.2% above the target escape rate of 40%. That is a big percentage.

Nurse at high MMR was only 7% higher than the target kill rate of 60%, which means that S-tier survivors are a bigger problem than Nurse is.

We're talking about how casual lobbies are effected, you don't even know if you are a "High mmr gamer" are you talking from experience?

And using nurse as an arguement when it comes to overall data is hit or miss as is Blight, coz there is a lot of people who can't play them who try them casually too, As for the 4-mans in high MMR, we don't know how many of the community they are we've been told they are a very small portion of it multiple times.

Survivors go against the entire roster, not just those higher power killers too, another thing you havn't considered, what if the data is against super low tier killers who need help rn?

We don't have data specifically against the best killers, there is also games with cheaters too and the whole abandons affecting stats too.

Anyways I'm done here as its off topic, nothing you say changes how people feel, we can't get meaningful balance changes until the powerful killers are dealt with.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4047750#Comment_4047750

S-tier survivors aren't really being dealt with, since they still have a disproportionally high escape rate when compared to solo q. Nerfing a few survivor addons isn't really going to move that escape rate to where it should be.

That's like saying Blight and Nurse were "dealt with" because they had multiple nerfs already.

It's not disproportionally higher, you're making that up, it's a small percentage of at most 6ish percent which is probably heightened that there is less 4 mans in "high MMR", overall its still the same as the others. Co-ordination will always be king in team games. it doesn't matter how you "nerf it" in this case. This is also year-old pre ghoul data also.

    image.png

And it does help it, a lot of what people complain about is stacked second chances etc syringe was widely hated for that reason.

Nurse/Blight and even ghoul are literally solo characters who are just better choices in every regard compared to most of the cast and I just don't think its anywhere near the same comparison, solo Q arguably has a higher overall, does that make them more overpowered Coffee? LMAO

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4047729#Comment_4047729

The major problem is the whole "S-tier" thing is just a buzzword.

People demanded so many nerfs for Skull Merchant even though she wasn't considered S-tier. People demanded nerfs for Legion in 2v8, even though he wasn't considered S-tier. When BHVR tried to buff Clown, nerfs were demanded even though he wasn't considered S-tier even with the buffs. And Ghoul generally isn't considered S-tier anyway.

And if we really cared about S-tier, we should also care about S-tier survivors (4-SWFs), that were shown to have a disproportionally high escape rate when compared to solo q. And since it's the S-tier survivors that are disproportionally higher than the target 40% escape rate, there should be nerfs that target the S-tier survivors.

S-tier is a buzz word as it's an effective way to summarise the issue.

Skully wasn't an S-tier she was just boring and really badly designed. S-tier of stalling and making boring matches perhaps at the time.

Legion is arguably an S-tier in 2v8 because of how broken it was when paired with another killer, DBD players don't usually play other games to be aware of group toolkit synergy. Legion 2v8 is a great example of that lmao, they were right to change them, it wasnt fun to play against.

Ghoul is considered S-tier, it's a matter of opinion and they are really effective in casual lobbies, scaring most casual players away at that. even if we took it your way, they are still widely and unanimously hated across the board by the casual community.

S-tier survivor options are being dealt with like syringe and styptic if you wanna argue that, which btw isn't that much higher lol.

It's just a summarisation, you being able to identify what I was talking about just proves its effective in communicating that. So thank you

  • you can spam like f5 or something on the keyboard to immune yourself to stuns I've heard, I'm not sure what button it was but its been an issue for a while.

I wonder if this is moreso a mechanic some Survivor players aren't aware of. Do you feel like it's intentional that players are hiding in the anti-camp area?

Even so it just shows how bad it is of a mechanic, you're expecting randoms to always know not to hide in it.

We really need something more accessible yet fair for both sides.

Also there is the issue of if a survivor frees themselves they are just self unhooking into the killers arms, only buying a little more time if anything.

  • I'd personally just love a larger radius on them. you could achieve what effects they have by the colour of the particles/aura of them

  • I just really want to get the game in a place that's more consistently fun, as I really do enjoy DBD, I wish there was more Horror multiplayer games.

Just to clarify, we don't "value" feedback in this way. A creator's opinion is no more valuable than someone's opinion on the Forums, and X for example is not valued more heavily over Reddit or YouTube comments. We don't use the Creator Program as a means of shutting out other places for feedback. Just like a veteran player is not somehow more or less important than a casual or newer player. All feedback is vital.

We appreciate that it's frustrating to not see everything immediately addressed, but we do see everything and pass along whatever feedback we see so that the team is aware of community concerns and pain points. Replying to everything is just too difficult! But we try!

Then hopefully the team can at least see the huge thread about the Ghoul among other large problems. It would be nice to have them addressed, it's been months at this point nearly a year of them as soon as blood moon hits:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/462379/so-still-no-ghoul-changes-huh#latest

The last set of nerfs were nothing but a slap on the wrist. We really need to be doing something about the S-tiers so we can start working on level playing field so we can actually balance the game to a fun consistent state.

  • @Uknownenjoyer said:

As the title says, the perk game afoot would be SOOO much better if it did work with killer power breaks(Bubba/Billy chainsaw, Nemy whip, etc.).

In fact, it used too i dont remeber when it stopped working, but it just suddenly stopped working with killer power breaks.

So plz BHVR fix or rebuff this perk, it's not so strong to warrant this weird condition when THWACK! the perk from the same killer works with killer power breaks.

I wonder if its when they stopped it working with vault perks?

  • It's not really abuse if you aren't hooking them though is it? Just hook them, and move on OP, slugging them just because they won't play is just as unhealthy for the game so you can't blame them for using the option.

I understand where you are coming from for the record, but fighting fire with fire is hardly a solution at all. People just really dislike some killers and that's on behaviour to fix and make a game everyone enjoys.

Players punishing each other is never the solution.

  • Considering they are in the midst of recruiting new forum mods, it's likely that they are going to be very hands off with this platform soon lol

The new creators program would suggest that's where they are gonna get their feedback going forward.

    Yes. This.

To the topic, after a very short time, and especially if one claims all BP rewards or uses cakes, BP become easy to get.

So I do not think this is necessary.

I understand that they are easy to get, but it's the same reason why 2v8 is so popular, people like playing with their friends.

If people could actually play killer with their friends (customs) and get points while doing it, it'd open up the game to an entirely new playerbase who are very casual.

Those of us who don't play with friends will continue to play public queues, heck killer players may face against less SWF's as they keep asking for.

idek how midwich has that high a kill rate, it's like stupidly easy to win on for me as survivor

Some killers synergise really well with it really well, is the reason. Others don't do great.

  • I think the people downvoting don't play other games like Fortnite etc where you can gain exp for battle passes in all modes.

People will always prefer playing with random players.

By allowing custom game progression even if it had a cap, would allow players to learn with friends and make a path forward, its a more welcoming experience and won't turn new players away.

it's reminding me of people who don't want emotes, yet people USE PERKS that act like emotes and its fine or the snowballs.

  • It's been common forever, they just refuse to give people any decent QoL for public queues.

  • I'm wondering if its the lobby dodging too, it really needs a punishment for frequent avoiders.

it always saddened me that killers like xeno, ceno and vecna are quite hated by some. these killers come installed with pre baked counterplay, enough to turn killer players off them entirely. but to me they are the level bhvr should be going for

I love playing as Xeno personally and I see a lot of Vecna out of the 3 of them.

Ghoul on the other hand is an abomination of irritating frustrations players shouldnt need to deal with

  • I like how they remove discussions but dont comment on popular discussions about real game issues like Ghoul

  • this killer is just shoveled slop, I'm getting so tired of all the problems they have

too much questionable stuff happened this last year ngl. it looks really bad once you start thinking about it all together

    1. why is the official stats page still counting abandons as disconnects? all abandons need to retro-actively be converted to deaths otherwise all the stats are useless. the abandon feature also just needs an overhaul in general
    2. why release the fog vial then nerf it to the point that no one uses it? now the bloodweb is mostly junk.
    3. maybe they should have asked the community if 5 seconds of anti-tunnel was acceptable in exchange for survivors losing syringe, styptic and off the record; its made the game more boring honestly
    4. cancelling the anti-slug update was a bold decision after promoting it for so long and nerfing tenacity while they "figured things out" upset a lot of people
    5. S tier killers that require skill may be acceptable, but S tier killers that require no skill are not (Ghoul)
    6. turning a killer known for intense stalking (myers) into a dasher before losing the IP is a head scratcher
    7. walking dead "map" is uh.. extremely disappointing
    8. meta has gotten to stale that this has almost stopped feeling like a live service game
    9. pallet density update made very little sense; so many loops are unsafe now that they're just promoting hold w gameplay

I agree with all of this, they need to be more aware

because bhvr allowed 2 killers who by design are incompatible with Lights Out; Doc and Legion.

they violated the spirit of the mode so they never should have been allowed. if you love Legion that much you woulda been fine being a Trapless Trapper but they didn't do that.

I feel like they could just make killers m1 only with an event specific power instead, like the killers function as skins, it could be an easier way to do it since survivors don't get perks either

  • @runningguy said:

if kill rates drop there wont be killers left to play the game lol look how long it took bhvr to get the balance they wanted, nearly a decade. look how long it takes them to balance 1 killer like skull merchant…. you think they can balance all killers accordingly before people quit? not likely. its a good job your not heading the bhvr dev team thats all i can say lol you would kill the game in 24 hours

IDK I kind of preferred the game pre 6.1.0, and the killer queue times were much shorter back then. The game survived on lower kill rates.

Players always adapted to the current meta one way or another but second chance meta has been nerfed over and over, which was the answer to tunneling. We have options but they are nowhere near as strong as they were,

If you notice how they buff other killers in 2v8 giving extra dashes or more range on abilities they can give Slinger longer harpoon range a stronger chain durability to compensate the range buff and faster reel speed and Harpoon velocity.

Going for far long range snipes could be fun and rewarding in 2v8.

Fair, this PTB would have been a great place to test smaller changes like this. At least we got a PTB for it for once.

  • Yeah lobby dodging needs to go and one way they can avoid that is an actual functioning avoid player list with a few slots for allowing you to avoid inparticularly problematic players like cheaters.

For the second point - well, this is Chaos Shuffle. You might not get a synergy. You might even get Perks which do the complete opposite from each other. And I think this is fine.

For the first point - very, very valid. But instead of making Items more unique, I would be for removing a bunch of Items and only have one of each category. Would also help with the Bloodweb Clutter, if they would only have 1 Item of each and less Add Ons. Reducing the Items would already do a lot - instead of 5 Toolboxes, 4 Medkits, 3 Keys, 3 Flashlights, 3 Maps and 3 Fog Vials you would have one of each. Would already remove 15 Bloodweb-Items nobody would miss. Because there is indeed no need to have 3 Flashlights which are the same aside from charges. Or 4 Medkits which are all the same aside from a slight difference in altruistic healing speed.

Yeah for Chaos shuffle they could probably add some cases where you wont get blood rush unless you get an exhaustion perk etc. Like if you get an exhaustion perk then add a chance to add blood rush from the pool, so on.

Some consistency of any kind would be nice, synergy is one thing, a dead perk slot is another.

  • Also select him and go to the main lobby, his wig is flying above him desync'd

Killer power addons and survivor item addons are literally in no way the same and should not be treated the same. Item addons dont foribly change how you play, killer addons do, especially ones that are trash and even gimp you. Randomising killer addons as they are now is just a trash, poorly thought out idea without the ability to remove some from the pool yourself.

Maybe you're just proving that survivor items are uninspired and could use more variety, different flashlight tiers etc dont change a playstyle either.

Chaos shuffle in general is an illy thought mess, getting blood rush on its own for example with no exhaustion, making it useless.

  • I'd have much rather preferred an item that lets me head on out of lockers (like a melee weapon) or something, but puts me in exhaustion and costs item charge or something.

Or an Item I can throw at the killer.

Fog vials feel like such a nothing burger, just let them be used as much as we want again or put them back to their old strength, not either or.

    1. Fog Vials

but on a more serious note I'd love Nemesis to get an addon rework to give him more ways to play.
  • What could they actually do to deathslinger to make him fun to play against and stronger? Because I feel like there isn't really much more they can do, he has nasty combos with other killers which is a huge plus from 1v4 and if you can aim he counters sprint burst.

I wonder if the new class changes might help him, I can't really say he is in an awful place, he just isn't effective solo and is better working with the other killer honestly.
