I mean OP does have a point, but jungle gyms exist, and well, those pretty much negate all killers' powers in the 1v1 chase. Personally as a rank 1, killers like Doc don't seem overpowered, with or without strong add-ons, unless I'm having a bad day and my last few brain cells decide to run to a T L instead of a jungle gym. Best thing to do is to just juke his shock therapy or keep on running, take advantage of Doc being slowed down when he uses shock therapy. Against optimal or even sub-optimal survivors, Doc is kind of a laughing stock. He needs all the help he can get.
-
My best advice I can give to you, is to recommend you to keep playing casually, as you see fit. Don't feel pressured into playing a certain way, just focus on what makes the game fun for you and ignore the negativity.
-
DS should be changed to this:
After being unhooked, DS activates. DS remains active until the killer picks you up or another survivor has been hooked.
-
I agree. This time it wasn't even a nerf in gameplay performance, it was a straight up nerf to a QOL.
Big brain balance team.

Yeah, I do believe that slugging is something that does not belong in dbd. It is a huge time waster and something no one wants to have to go through, but it happens constantly in many matches. Sure, unbreakable is a good perk to prevent slugging, but it feels like something you just have to have in your meta build, not because of strategic design, but because unless you don't have it, well, you are gonna have pretty awful time playing many of the matches.
I have been in so many games where the killer just won't pick me up, won't kill me off, won't let anyone rescue me, and won't let me off the game when the game is over. All this, beacuse slugging is a thing.
So how else are killers supposed to apply pressure? Camping is a strategy that only works against boosted or overly altruistic players. Tunneling is just an unhealthy strategy. If I just hook people, they can get saved quickly, have a free health state with BT, can get healed quickly with double healing or We'll Make It, and have DS activate, and the ONLY counterplay to DS is to slug or not tunnel, but against good survivors, tunneling is more often than not necessary. Slugging is currently the only viable strategy against good survivors, because survivors don't gain any benefits from it and they get slowed down. Any other strategy and you're fully relying on the survivors having a lower skill level than you. Sure some killers are douches and slug in a toxic manner, like letting people bleed out on purpose or slugging more than 2 people when there's still 4 or 5 gens left, but this doesn't mean slugging should be removed or even changed. The existing counter play to slugging is more than sufficient. And keys should not be buffed. To call them game changers is an understatement, they're game breaking. Same with mories. If either were to get buffed this would all be another 1.9.2. but with keys and mories instead of flashlights.
-
This is the same attitude as killers who complain because they didn't receive a 4K. Sure it feels bad if you were the only one who did gens and safe unhooks but that doesn't mean killers should have things made harder for them when it's already hard enough as is. For killers going against good survivors, the early game has to be played optimally in order for a mid-game to even come into existence (and even then, playing optimally doesn't always work since gen times are busted), otherwise it's a 5 minute gg. Now if you make it to where EGC is even harder for killers (when it was intended as a QOL for killers in the first place), then it makes the game more unhealthy. If you have potato teammates and feel entitled to escaping, just think about how much the killer sweated against optimal survivors. Let him have some breathing room with potato survivors. Besides, Wake Up and Spine Chill exist. If bad exit spawns are so frequent, then Wake Up should be worthy of a perk slot. It's the same with slugging, if it's too frequent, then Unbreakable is worthy of a perk slot.
-
Yes and while we're at it, let's have survivors being able to repair gens and open exit gates while downed, because slugging isn't fair and should be punished.
-
It is easy when you have good teammates, otherwise it's very inconsistent. Just one perk can throw the game in the killer's favor, and that's self-care. Unfortunately, there's a lot of boosted potatoes that run selfcare, even in red ranks. Here's how it is for survivors based on ranks:
Solo:
Brown: Pure chaos, inconsistent outcomes
Yellow: Locker simulator, self-caring edition. R.I.P. to all the fast learners who do most of the work on their own while the rest hide.
Green: Dead by Tunnellight, camping edition, includes at least 1 blendette per match. ...What's teamwork?
Purple: Would you look at that, I'm not the only one doing gens.
Red (1st scenario/most common): Wow all the gens are actually getting done- wait, it's only been 5 minutes!
Red (2nd scenario): How did he go down in 10 seconds?! Why is she still self-caring in 2020 in red ranks?! Why is he hiding in a locker?! Oh wait, he's gonna- fml, he just missed his DS. Ok I got the first gen done, time to loop the killer. 5 years later Why aren't these gens popping?! gets downed, hooked, and camped. Looks at post game stats. He didn't even have DS......
Red (3rd scenario): I see pink man Ace, classic Nea with flashlight, and shirtless David, either this is going to be ochido simulator or I'm gonna be dragged into a chaotic meme game and we're all going to die in the first 2 minutes.
SWF:
Brown: everyone: confused screaming
Yellow: I call dibs on that locker!
Green: Guys we finally got a gen done!
Purple: Everyone presses F to pay respects to the one who didn't make it out alive
Red: Clicking intensifies GG2EZ baby killerino git gud
-
It's popular with boosted potatoes who don't know what teamwork is, or are just selfish. Everytime I see someone self care while I'm on hook I just kms because I'm not keen on doing all 5 generators by myself while they hide all game. In all honesty, selfcare should be disabled in red ranks. No team is going to do well against a rank 1 Freddy/Spirit/Billy with slow down builds if one or more person is self-caring every minute in the corner of the map and letting the others do all the work (gens, totems, running the killer, etc).
-
He's a mid tier killer, meaning he's as balanced as can be. Against green ranks and lower, he'll most likely dominate, whereas against true red and purple ranks, he'll have a hard time. All his power does is feed him constant information. I don't see how a killer having constant information is too powerful if survivors also have constant information as well (swf, kindred, bond, empathy, aftercare, etc). His madness effects aren't all that bad either, they just make skill checks a little buggy. Tier 3 madness is pretty much Deep Wound but without the injured state.
-
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if BBQ is next on the chopping block for killer meta perks. Hope the balance team doesn't see all these nerf BBQ threads, because I know damn well they'll takes these threads seriously.
Balancing team logic:
If it's a killer meta and infuriates low-skilled/new players, then it needs to be "reworked".
But seriously, why have BBQ and Billy been getting ostracized by the survivor community lately? They've been in the game for years and are amongst the most balanced things in this game.
-
>Toolboxes, BNP's, flashlights, keys and swf gen rush/bully squads = casual players just looking to have fun
>Slugging when Unbreakable and altruistic teammates exist = sweaty try-hards
>feelsdoublestandardman
-
Not necessarily, although those type of players do exist. They're just unbalanced as hell and need to be reworked or just removed from the game altogether. Makes no sense as to how powerful tools can just easily turn the whole game around in an instant. They require no skill or thought to use, you just press one button and bam, the whole match is ruined for either the survivors or the killer. They should at least have some restrictions, for example:
Keys: Takes 15-20 seconds to open the hatch. If you are opening the hatch before all the gens have been completed, your aura is revealed to the killer for 3 seconds in the first attempt to open the hatch. After the first attempt, your aura will not be revealed to the killer. If you are opening the hatch when EGC has activated, your aura will not be revealed to the killer. When opening the hatch, you will be faced with tremendously difficult skill checks every 5 seconds. If you fail a skill check, 5% of your progress regresses, the killer receives no noise notification.
-15 seconds for pink key
-20 seconds for purple key
This makes it to where people actually need to use at least a small percentage of their left brain, instead of just receiving a free win. It also allows killers to keep the game going when hatch spawns during the game, instead of it immediately ending and giving them black pips. Keys now offer fair counter play yet retain their power.
Moris: In order to mori someone, you need to hook every survivor at least once. This makes it to where a killer can't just off someone immediately, and has to apply pressure to the other survivors, yet he still has the benefit of being able to mori people off their first hook, after he hooks every survivor once. If the killer decides to tunnel, he won't be able to mori, and must slug/hook, which gives the victim more chances to be saved.
@inferjus said:
Unless you use them for daily quest or challenges by using keys and moris you admit your enemy is better than you and you need crutches to achieve your goal.
-
OP, you realize jungle gyms still exist, right? Unless you're going against a sniper Doc, jungle gyms will render his power useless, as it does with many other killers. And even with sniper Doc, you have two signs of him about to use his shock therapy. Sound and sight. You will hear static and see him clenching his fist, this gives you plenty of time to dodge his shock therapy, which also renders his power useless. And now this may come off as arrogance, but even TL's are super effective against Doc, I can last 15 seconds alone on a single TL. Just get better at looping and you won't have much of a problem with Doc. All his power really does is just give him constant information, and for any survivor to complain about a killer getting constant information is a blatant hypocrite, since OoO and SWF exist, as well as Bond, Empathy, Kindred, etc.
-
Looks like the baby survivors finally got their wishes granted. I'm willing to bet I'm the only one in this thread who can last longer than 15 seconds in a chase without using a single pallet.
-
At this point the fishing rod has snapped in half from the weight of all the fish that its caught. Kudos to you, despite having very low quality and cliche bait, you've managed to reel in quite a lot of prominent forum members.
-
Been happening for me since shortly after (roughly 2 weeks) the first tome/rift on xbox. I grab someone, next thing I know, they've just sprint bursted across the map.
-
Unfortunately the whole world is in a panic over something that's literally an over-glorified cold, and us common folk have to suffer from the easily swayed minds. 18 years of my life, down the drain, all those useless homework packets and essays about cliche life lessons which are already known by common sense, have been done in vain. Looks like there won't be any graduation for me, or jobs for that matter. Can't get jobs without diplomas, and even if I do get the diplomas, no one is hiring because everything is shutting down. My step parent's job has been shut down for weeks so now I literally have no privacy, no alone time or personal space in this tiny overpriced apartment. As a lone wolf, I need my space and alone time, it is crucial in order to keep my sanity in tact. Constantly living with someone 24/7, that I don't often see eye to eye with, and even sometimes get into heated arguments with, is just clawing away at me. I just want everything to go back to normal, graduate, get a job, and move to Canada, so I can truly be on my own. My family is just one big mess and I can't afford to live near my few friends, can't even see em cause they're on the other side of the country. And now we have selfish people hoarding everything, because instead of taking just at least 5 minutes of research for just one day out of the week, they'd rather waste hours watching mainstream propaganda and buy into fear. As if my family situation wasn't already a problem, now I'm getting screwed by the world.
What a time to be alive.
-
Even Bugthesda has better support teams, and that's saying something.
-
Survivors can literally do 360's nonstop
>balanced
Killers can have slightly high sensitivity
>overpowered and unfair and has no counterplay, needs to be nerfed
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be
-
It's unfortunate that there are so many try-hards who complain over the silliest shite. Imagine people getting riled up over killers playing silly. Too many people try to make the game competitive (when it literally revolves on too many situational outcomes and almost never requires skill on either role) and end up becoming entitled players who think either role should play a certain way in order to appease them. DBD's casual nature is pretty much declining.
-
You know, despite being odd, this is the most positive thread I've seen today. No demands for survivor/killer nerfs or buffs, just AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. as all things should be.
-
I'm a rank 1 clown main and I 4k consistently on maps like Thompson House and Temple of Purgation. Killer is easy af git gud.
Alright, jokes aside, the best you can do is to make survivors 3 gen themselves. Pick 3 gens in very close proximity to each other and guard them at all costs. That doesn't mean you stay by them the whole game, you still go and apply pressure on other spots of the map but frequently come back to check on the 3 gens. Anything else and you're literally depending on survivors making a plethora of mistakes. Even then, this strategy still requires survivors to be potatoes. This is where another strat comes into play, killing off the weakest survivors. It may require a bit of tunneling but it's for the best. The less survivors you have to deal with, the better.
-
Unfortunately no. Although dedicated servers were bad, they weren't as bad as lag switching Bubbas and Wraiths. Ever since dedicated servers were deactivated, lag switchers became frequent again. Dedicated servers is the lesser of the two evils.
-
I just like the overall classic aesthetic of Deathslinger. Tall western man seeping with vengeance. Plus he's the only male killer with long hair, so he's the only relatable killer to me. Long hair dudes ftw.
-
A lot of people are really going try hard with him on Xbox. Even with 5 gens still left they will waste 2 minutes to tunnel the person off hook and as soon as one gen pops, they will camp for the rest of the match. They're sweating harder than 6th grade me trying to run a mile in less than 7 minutes.
-
Because most people just want easy escapes. They can't fathom not being able to bully a killer. The people who DC when they're getting demolished are the same people who are toxic, and most likely are the remnants of Ochido's toxic cult following. It's the same with some killers who refuse to lose, as soon as they go up against survivors who don't run in straight lines and hide in lockers, they DC. It's just entitled toxic people in general, and mostly mains. Most survivor mains are entitled because they only understand the survivor aspect of the game and feel entitled in that the game should favor them. Most killer mains are entitled because they only understand the killer aspect of the game and feel entitled in that the game should favor them. Most survivor mains want easy escapes every game and most killer mains want easy 4K's every game.
-
This whole thread is a yellow rank mood. Nothing here should be taken seriously by anyone with an ounce of looping knowledge. By the looks of it, I'm pretty sure the people agreeing with Billy nerfs would love for another 1.9.2. to happen again.
-
Best you can do is just adapt. If I get really unlucky and encounter a killer I don't like to go against quite often, I'll go to the nearest gen, hide around and wait for the killer to check it out, wait for him to leave, and then repair it, that way I'm not the first to be found and can be productive. Trust me, making sure you're not the first to be found against someone you dread to go against is the best feeling, it's like getting some breathing room.
-
Then go play killer or go play some civilization, for a refreshing change.
But seriously though, if you're this upset over toolbox changes then it just goes to show you still have some things to learn about the game. First thing's first, if you know how to loop, gens and toolboxes shouldn't concern you all that much to begin with. Just work on a gen with someone else and the time it takes to repair it will only be 44 seconds. 80 seconds is plenty of time if you have competent teammates.
-
Then go play killer or go play some civilization, for a refreshing change.
In all honesty though if slugging is so frequent then run Unbreakable and/or No Mither. Besides, jungle gyms and killer shack still exist.
-
People would abuse this and treat it as a watered down DC-Hatch tech. Unbreakable negates slugging entirely, so I'm sure if slugging is frequent then Unbreakable would be worthy of a perk slot.
-
Pvt. Joker and Animal Mother from FMJ as survivors and Pvt. Pyle as killer.
-
I hear Deja Vu is the next SS tier perk to be put on the chopping block.
-
The worst is when you have Prove Thyself (I had a bad day yesterday and wasn't in the mood to have longer than 5 minute matches) and two people decide to heal each other next to a gen that's regressing due to ruin... Like ffs, the other guy is being chased, just man up and finish the gen. You'd expect red ranks to be able to do gens even while injured but no, apparently healing is important. Pipping system needs to be more difficult. There's too many red ranks who should be in green/yellow ranks.
-
Tbh Iron Will should work while in the dying state, blood trails are more than enough for tracking. And Tenacity is at a healthy spot right now, sure it could use a small speed buff but it'd be overpowered combined with Unbreakable.
-
Mike Enslin from 1408
-
I listen to Metallica and Alice In Chains when playing survivor and killer. Though listening to the Facelift album while playing killer does seem to fit quite well with the role. It's also nice to play Man In The Box when going up against Freddy. Harvester of Sorrow is always a good fit for playing killer.

For peaceful communities like on PS4 and PC, sure, but not on Xbox. Xbox community is a cesspool of toxicity.
-
Dedicated Servers are a necessary evil, the lesser of two evils. The greater evil is lag switching killers. Although they are rare, they have become more frequent (at least in my experience) ever since Dedicated Servers have been deactivated.
-
Yeah I'm also gonna have to say R.I.P. Those offerings were quite fun for me about 6 months back when I was a baby rank 18 killer. I used to think Pig was S tier with her offering. Good ol times. I still have a decent amount of splinter offerings on my Trapper, unfortunately he's not prestiged but I'll keep him that way if it means I get to keep my offerings. Nostalgia holds sentimental value.

Imo all he needs is to have 115% ms and the ability to pull people over downed pallets and windows, then he can easily be B tier and not someone that's essentially the illegitimate child of Legion and Huntress, because at the moment, that's how his mechanics feel like.
-
Yeah and let's add billie ellish while we're at it, oh and throw in the cAsH mE oUTsIDe girl too. All three of them are survivors, the killer is Lil Pump and his mori is him saying gucci gang in their ears until their heads explode.
-
DS, Deliverance, Adrenaline, and Dead Hard.
DS for obvious reasons.
Deliverance because ######### going into 2nd stage on 1st hook.
Adrenaline and Dead Hard as insurance policies.
Adrenaline: I'm injured, I get healed instantly. I'm beging chased? Boom, 150% speed boost.
Dead Hard: C'mon, c'mon, just a little bit closer... Ooh! Almost had it! Swing through the pallet again!
Also both will ensure that I don't mindlessly rush the exit gates because Adrenaline makes me exhausted, and in order to get my Dead Hard back, I need to take things slow, so in case I do get injured during end game, I can have a last resort.
Item/add-ons: Commodious toolbox with Wire Spool and Socket Swivels
Offering: Strode Realty Key
-
Beanie Kate is adorable and must be protected at all costs.
-
Yeah experienced survivors would just completely abuse the ever loving ######### out of this game mode lol. R.I.P. mind games.
-
Lol go against a Forever Freddy on that map and complain about the safe pallets then, trust me, those pallets are the only things preventing Forever Freddy's from getting guaranteed 4K's on meat plant.
