I honestly don't see a problem with it staying broken. 90% of the time survivors miss time it anyway lol.

There was a study done in 2020 that talked about how toxicity was common in DbD at the lowest levels and, unlike many games, was most common at the highest levels.

People that do things like the OP described may call other people trash but the reality is that they're self-describing.
I play for, ideally, 12 hooks with nobody dying before the 6th to 7th hook. It's more fun and helps keep me away from people like that.
This is generally how I play as well, I rather lose because of it than win.

So you mean they do it because they were dying on hook and no one was coming to save them? That’s a lot different than the scenario painted by your original comment.
This I bet most of the time people give up when they see that no one is coming to save them. Maybe try being a team player and they won't quit on you.

i need cosmetics for demo so yeah stranger things needs to come back. hopefully netflix and bhvr can come together again.

Is anyone else shocked that all the icon suggestions involve the icons being a reduced sized icon that is superimposed onto the survivor portrait, where it would be unnecessarily difficult to see when certain graphic effects are happening to the survivor portraits? Does anyone really want to play “what’s that icon” when a survivor portrait has madness static overlapping most of the icon?
Why haven’t any of the suggestions involved the icon being the same size as a survivor portrait, and being NEXT to the survivor portrait so we can actually tell what icon it is?
I think the icon size is fine it just needs to be moved off the portrait and under their name.

Honestly playing survivor does suck a lot these days, even with the base kit buffs. My fellow killer mains will never admit how much easier it has became and they will even use the random SWF gods to deny that it has become so much easier. Truth is I went from being an average killer to not having fun playing killer anymore unless I do get those SWF gods.
Playing Killer is just as bad as survivor for different reasons. I try to 3 hook everyone, every single game. This isn't even hard to accomplish, I don't slug for the 4k either. If someone gets hatch good for them. What makes playing killer bad is the sandbagging I see, the dc's. When I get 2 dc's in a game I can't enjoy the match at that point I just let the last two finish the gens and escape. Especially if they stuck through the bull.
Then there are the games where it gets down to 2 survivors left and one of them is just off hiding while the other one is trying to complete the goal even though they're likely going to die. In that scenario I'll leave the one on the gen alone and hunt for the one trying to go for the hatch. I have zero respect for those players and make sure they do not get an escape. Sandbagging so you can solo escape is one of the only reasons I ever tunnel, that and when I see one survivor sandbagging another.
The overall survivor experience is miserable, so many survivors are toxic to their own team mates. I had a game this morning where a mikaela just stood infront of me on hook and stared at me while I died, nemy was on the other side of rpd and there was no excuse other than to troll. These occurrences are so common now. Probably because so many feel that hatch is the only way to escape. It has gotten to the point where I wish the hatch mechanic would change again. Players shouldn't be rewarded for sandbagging their team and letting them die just so they can get the hatch.
I think the hatch should only open for people who reached a certain amount of blood points in the game. So that 8k pt feng doesn't befriend the killer and get out while the other survivors struggle to complete the objective. Something has to give here.

If people really don’t think hyperfocus makes much of a difference, then they should be ok if BHVR nerfs the upper limits of how many seconds it can remove from a generator, because those scenarios “aren’t going to happen anyway”
ya lets just make an already mediocre perk become garbage because of fantasy what if scenarios that may happen 1 out of 200 games.
-
Why don't we just disable all perks at endgame, every last one of them. Then we can all complain about it together. Honestly I think it is incredibly bad game design to disable any perk at end game.
-
it entirely depends on the situation for me.
Is there a cheater? Was I deliberately sandbagged? Was my team not doing anything at all? Did my team opt to start a generator as a group while I was hooked and not being camped? Did my team wait until I reached stage 2 before even making an attempt? I'm not struggling for you peace out.
Yesterday I had a bill and an ada crouching within 6 meters of me and they let me get to stage 2 and it was a dwight who ran up and pulled me off the hook. I made sure to stay long enough to help the dwight survive after that.
Am I being faced camped? I will stay as long as my team is actively doing gens and punishing the face camper.
Am I on the other side of the map and the survivors were finishing a gen? that sucks for me but I am staying.
Was the situation tough and the survivors made an effort but simply couldn't? yeah I am going to stay.
unfortunately this game despite being a "team" game, really suffers from a lack of team play. In most cases I fight till the finish. But some games in solo q nah its gg next for me. And if I am being 1000000% honest, I never give up because of killer actions, it is almost always the actions of my "team".
Situations where its 5 gens and we're all at 2 hooks I'm out too. I don't care for hatch escape because other than some bp it doesn't matter. I'll let someone else have that opportunity to escape.
-
While i have no answers for you stadia folks, I hope it all works out in your favor.

why is that video still being used as a talking point when the streamer made poor decisions based on greed. She made poor decisions. She wanted to slug all 4 survivors for an easy win. Such gameplay shouldn't be rewarded or encouraged. Had she hooked someone she may have won even quicker. But she outright refused to do so.
Even when everyone with a flashlight was down, She still went for the jane who didn't have a flashlight.
This video proves nothing that the people posting it claims it does.
-
that was definitely a cheater.

hook spawns make me hate the map as killer and love it as survivor.

60s is not a big loss in return for being able to permanently prevent hook suiciding, to be fair.
If it is really that big of an issue, be quicker at getting people off the hook. Or better yet bring reassurance and hit that to make them wait longer before you pull them off the hook, you can consider it an in game spanking.
also 60 seconds may not seem like a long time, but let me tell you this. Time is finite, and you shouldn't be telling people how they should spend their time. 60's over the course of a bad dbd day can add up to 5 minutes over the course of a week even longer. Time is precious and spending it situations like i described above if it can be avoided absolutely should be avoided.
-
I've had a few games in the last two weeks where i was left on the hook at the end while my teammates sat at the exit gates pointing in my direction and t bagging. Making no effort to come save me at all. Thankfully i was able to not do the struggle checks and went onto the next game instead of having to put up with it longer than necessary.
People can be pricks.
However, I do agree that you shouldn't be able to send yourself directly to the struggle phase.
-
I honestly think shadowborn should be basekit, I never even considered that high FOV could bother some people though. A slider would be nice, I would welcome it.

You all fail to understand that she's also slugging to avoid getting flashlight saved. That's why she says "I didn't make a mistake and I got punished."
Dwight, Claudette, and Feng Min all had flashlights. When she was slugging, one of them or multiple of them were around. She couldn't take her hooks, because she'd get flashlight saved and be back to square one.
There were times where she absolutely could've done a pick up if she wanted. Obstacles are a thing. She also could've locker grabbed the Claudette at one point. She made bad decisions, and still won.
-
I commented about this video in another thread, she made mistakes. Its called being greedy. if she wanted to hook she could've. She didn't even attempt too. This video isn't the "gotcha" you think it is. At one point she had 3 people slugged. You telling me she didn't have the time to hook atleast one of them? She absolutely did, if she wasn't being greedy.
-
I like that costume but I personally would rather have her OG outfit. Not the Remake "classic" outfit, that doesn't have sleeves.
-
seems to me the streamer was being greedy. there was a time where she had 3 slugged survivors. They kept saying they weren't making mistakes. Greed is a mistake.

Agreed. I actually found my swf group through chat. I had some great exchanges there. You can give probs to survivors/killers for good plays. The chat feature is awesome and it would definitely be unnecessary to get rid of it just because some people are too sensitive or they are too lazy to turn chat off.
You don't want the chat? Then turn it off. It's as simple as that. The fact that some people really want to get rid of the function is beyond my understanding.
Yeah, I mean that is sad to me. "I shouldn't have to turn off chat! Who cares if you like it, it hurts my feelings so it must go!". Some people are nasty in end game chat for sure. But I get way more wholesome messages. I play demo a lot and I can't help but smile when I'm called a good doggy.

Why would you accuse me of ad hominems when you literally can't stop blaming killer mains and accusing them of having thin skin? I have been pretty diligent in not directly insulting anybody, let alone trying to use insulting them as a means to discredit them. If you actually saw any of the discussions about this topic in the past, there has been a lot of silence from BHVR directly, but the topic became relevant again after the release of Sadako. Since these changes don't happen overnight, it was very likely in deliberation internally since then. Considering the photosensitivity warning was also added between then and now, it shows that their progress might be slow but it is deliberate.
Aside from all of that, the entire point of the topic is that OP thinks that BHVR is being disingenuous about their reasoning. The backlash they have gotten is that people don't care if the change is one that allows more people to be able to safely play the game. The only people who could possibly be upset by the change are the ones who think the "flashlight nerf" was more important than people's well being, which is why so many understandably have pretty emotional responses. I've even given common ground with bringing up spine chill multiple times so that there can at least be consistency to the logic, but the hyperfocus is on this specific change.
The best part is how minimal the change actually is. You would think turning on the flashlight just ejects its battery with how people have been hyperbolic about it. Thats why it looks so absolutely silly when compared to the thought of someone having an episode and being hospitalized over someone else's actions in a damn game. Might as well copy it over from the other topic so people who are unaware can at least use it for context:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4Pf-2OVLzw
Its easy to brush off people who just don't understand epilepsy and other photosenstivie conditions from just being uneducated, hopefully they learn better and maybe their perspective will change. But knowingly diminishing conditions like that compared to personal reasons ranging from feeling like your advantage has been reduced to choosing this one specific topic to call the devs hypocrites is extremely immature.
This change pretty much did nothing to gameplay, will only help people who can be hurt and we got people coming at killer mains because they can't be toxic anymore. It's sad that some people here really don't care about others well being if it prevents them from being toxic.
We don't know what transpired for the devs to make this welcomed change for photosensitive players, maybe a potential lawsuit? Maybe something happened in the office. People can just develop photo sensitivity seemingly out of no where. I mean The warning did kind of come out of no where too recently. But look what we're seeing here in the forums "its been fine for 6 years so why change it now".
The water in flint michigan has been poisoned for years! Why fix it now?
We've used lead in paint and gas for decades! Why change it now?
Just because they fix something now doesn't mean it hasn't always been an issue. It is really a bad look on the dbd community tbh.

I think survivors need to start being able to see other survivor perks. Not sure about the killers going in blind though.

@SmarulKusia said:
This isn't the first time. Don't get me wrong, I don't care for the flashlight changes, I use them too infrequently to be too impacted.
But can we stop using people as an excuse to nerf things in the game? If you want to nerf flashlights whether to prevent BM or to just nerf it, just say it. Don't give a lame excuse about how this is a change for the section of the community that suffers from epilepsy, if you had cared enough, you would've listened to that part of the community if not 5 years ago, then 4, 3 or even 2.
We get it, you want to buff killer, we get it. We really do. But don't do it by trying to make it seem as if this is because you care for the community.
I'm visually impaired and really require sound to help compensate for my disability. You don't see me screaming to the high heavens to decrease chase music volume even though that would be great. You also never see me ask for nerfs to iron will, off the record, etc for the sake of accessibility.
I understand the need to change flashlights however if they're really triggering people to have seizures. But from what I've gathered a bigger issue comes from the screens on the tv's and such in various maps. If these flashlight changes even prevent 1 seizure than I am for it and everyone else should too. These changes aren't accessibility changes.

There is always the option to turn off the end-game chat, but honestly BHVR needs to kill the chat altogether.
It boggles my mind that they are so sensitive to things like “accessibility” yet they’re totally OK with keeping this end-game chat which serves no purpose other than to be a forum for toxicity and bullying
I've actually made some friends through the end game chat... I would hate to see it taken away because of bad people. Good people shouldn't suffer because of a few bad apples.

I came back to the forums because of this update and logged in just to comment on this: When did the community's mindset change?
Why are people suddenly saying "skill issue" to slugging when that was completely valid for buying time previously?
Because killers started slugging for 4k at 5 gens. This helps combat that to some degree. Killers brought this on themselves. This change won't effect good killers one bit though unless they play twins. Hopefully twins gets a rework sooner than later.

Bro you have a serious superiority complex, everyone is at fault but yourself. Just be stop dude. And did you ever stop to think about what the killer side goes through? Like how survivors can run to the corner of a map where it’s impossible to hook them, or on midwhich or the game where hook spawns can be atrocious which ALSO makes it impossible to hook people.
You aren’t the center of the universe, start thinking beyond what YOU deal with.
I was a killer main until 6.1 killed the queue times, now I really only can play survivor because of my limited free time.

Sure, give Charlotte a way to teleport to Victor then and we'll talk.
once again twins is an outlier. you can blame the killers that slug for the 4k at 5 gens for screwing twins. Maybe now bhvr will finally get around to that rework of the twins. This change needed to happen because killers couldn't help themselves.

How so?
Keep in mind that some killers are designed around slugging (Twins).
Also - schadenfreude is not a good emotion.
Look, twins is an outlier plain and simple, twins is also in need of a rework. Maybe if killers weren't constantly slugging for 4k's this wouldn't of needed to happen. But killers brought this change on themselves.

No one slug in 2022 unless you are playing against specific killers and even so it's rarely seen.. Are you a time traveler from the past?
in what world do you believe this is reality? People are constantly getting slugged for 4k's. Hell atleast 3 of my games yesterday where killers leaving 3 slugged while looking for the 4th survivor. Slugging has become a huge problem and now we got people straight up lying about it.

That is how they work.

It's a good change. Knockout sluggers are far worse than even campers.
Twins need a substantial rework though, as this is going to be brutal for them.
Yeah okay twins is an outlier. Who coincidentally slugs less than other killers who have zero reason too.

You guys brought this update upon yourselves.

maybe if you killers didn't constantly slug this wouldnt need to happen. you reap what you sow.

If survivor is so bad and killer so good, then why don't you play killer? This is a genuine question I have. Because the choice to quit rather than playing what one considers the "easy role" means there must be something else causing that role to be so undesirable that quitting is better than swapping to it.
maybe because no one wants to wait 10-15 minutes for a single game. I for example was a killer main, 90% killer 10% survivor. Now I"m reversed. I can count the amount of killer games I've played in they last two weeks on 1 hand. My role went from instant queues to being pretty much a waiting sim.
-
it just sucks when you're in a 3 gen situation, there is you and one other survivor. The other survivor is walking/sneaking in the corners not trying to break the 3 gen. Then the killer wants a 4k, but your teammate never shows their face, the killer bleeds you out till you're almost ready to die and then picks you up and carries you around refusing to hook you. You want to leave but you can't because the killer has decided they won't hook you nor will they bleed you out.
You wiggle off and then try to complete a gen. Now you've reached a point where the killer will only grab you off gens so now your only hope is to bait them into hitting you instead of a grab so you bleed out. At this point its been more than 20 minutes since you're last teammate died.
Everyone will say its your fault for getting 3 genned and to a point that is correct, except you can't stop 3 other players from doing it in soloq. 3 genning is a valid tactic. I agree. I however disagree with the killers who play as I described above and it has unfortunately happened more than once and should be bannable as technically I can't complete the game in said scenario.

Literally just Anonymous Mode, dude.
Names differentiate who survivors are when there are multiple people playing the same character, especially with similar/identical outfits. They also can allow as many friendly interactions to happen as unfriendly ones - survivor names asking for help with challenges, stuff like MoriMeDaddyMyers or TrickstersWife or IBoopYourSnoot. Heck, when Wesker dropped, I named myself Budget Wesker and went around as a cosplayed Felix, and a couple of them nodded at me or played with me because my name made them realize the joke. I do not want to have my name forcibly hidden from the killer for this reason.
The only possible reason you could have a point here is if you're being targeted for identity reasons and your name is part of that. And in that case, just go anonymous. I am pretty sure the patch notes said they kept the console option to hide your name even if it's not the full TTV-proof version. If you're a TTV, this is a risk you signed up for and I don't know how difficult that can possibly be to understand. It's like turning all the lights on in your house, throwing the curtains open, and then getting mad at the neighbors for looking. And if there's something politically charged or potentially inflammatory in your name, that's your own fault.
It's not fair to go "I want all the benefits of advertising my stream to other players without getting any of the drawbacks of advertising my stream to other players!"
they're on console which means they do not have anon mode, also taking ttv out of their name isn't free, and if they're on playstation it may not be worth the risk if it still has the bugs it did when name changes became a thing on that platform
-

Then you played with the two most selfish players in DBD, and should have gone through the garbage report system and submitted evidence they were holding you hostage. If it actually went how you described that was 100% reportable.
I absolutely did report it. However I do not record my games, which means my report probably means nothing.
