Thank you for bringing this up, I don't think this was intentional and I sent the information to Mandy so she can look into it.
Could simply be that Vanilla pushed out an update to the forums and it overwrote the settings, so we'll see. -
As others already pointed out, please avoid reporting players for simply using anonymous mode, that's abusing the report system and it only clogs up Support.
