People compare them just because they are ranged killers which is annoying. They both have pros and cons. The biggest pro for deathslinger right now is that he is really hard to loop because he can quickscope you and you're done.
Deathslinger is annoying because of the instashot which is impossible to react to unless you’re close to its max range. Like Huntress, he can end chases very fast if played correctly but his downside is that he can’t really snowball unless he has STBFL and everyone is in the same area.
Like people have said, he has pros and cons that do no equal those of Huntress.
I say Huntress is a better killer overall because of extended range and higher snowball potential (downing a survivor with a hatchet and immediately being able to throw another at someone else nearby). If you can’t snowball in this game consistently you will lose a lot, and in that regard Huntress wins hands down.

BHVR is secretly testing it’s new matchmaking (MMR) system that will replace the current ranked-based one.
Obviously they don’t want you to know they’re testing it because of the current outrage you’re seeing with the disparity in ranks and they also want to “perfect it” before it officially goes live.
Before anyone says anything about it not being in the patch notes... well the devs implement a lot of things without telling us. Even little things like map textures/lightning go unnoticed if you’re not paying attention.

Balanced? Sure. Most? Definitely not. It's a complete hit-or-miss. I think the perk is fine as is, it's just an alternate idea to make it more balanced. The same reward ensues from a safe unhook, but this makes you be extra sure it is a safe unhook. On top of that, this idea makes it so it's not a total hit-or-miss perk. It still grants you 50% even if you are the first hooked.
A perk like deliverance is all or nothing, not saying it's even going to be used, but if you are hooked first, or all your hooks are unsafe/not saved at all, you won't gain anything from it. I still think the penalty for being broken is a good idea, forgot that part though. It makes you weigh using the perk slightly more. Still wish you could get points for being unhooked tho :/
Not saying your idea isn’t good but I feel that this perk is fine being an all-or-nothing.
Killers will definitely complain about survivors having an automatic 50% to unhook yourself, and I feel like it’s too rewarding for not having done anything in the match. Unbreakable already gives you a massive reward without prerequisites so adding more of these would just feed the already strong survivor meta.

If the Killer has 1 Survivor hooked, 2 Survivors would stand outside the chase range, but in FULL VIEW (or otherwise show they are there before hiding).
This forced the Killer to stay near the hook, which slowed the Hook Struggle: If he chased 1 Survivors, the Second went for a save. If he chased THAT Survivor, the first went for the save.
By dancing around at the outer edges of the 'camping zone' for Hook struggles being slowed down, this meant the Killer was being punished by a slower Struggle for the Survivor on the hook.
This left the THIRD free Survivor to just idly do gens.
The Killer basically had to pick to either stand there and facecamp at a punished, slower rate, or commit to a chase & let the hooked Survivor be unhooked by whomever he did not chase.
I'm not making this up. This is not hypothetical. This was tried and this is what happened.
I understand what you’re saying, but if you have a free chase why are you choosing to defend the hook rather than add additional pressure?
No one is forcing you to stay at the hook because you see 2 survivors in full view. Pick one to chase and go with it. It’s not a hard concept to grasp.

Did you not read my post? This was tried. Survivors abused it by forcing the Killer to either stay near the hook, thus giving 1 Survivor ample time to fix generators, or he had to leave & let Survivors get a free unhook.
Survivors complain for a punishment and then abused what punishment there was. Blame Survivors for that one.
How is the killer forced to stay near the hook? If there is a survivor nearby they have the freedom to chase/down them.

And killer mains crying about SWF and DS/Unbreakable.
Hook camping when not in a chase with another survivor should slow the death timer of the survivor on hook.

Killers tunnel anyways doubt it would actually be able to work all the way.
Independent of what killers do, stacking this perk would be overkill. It already has great reward for no risk.
-
Perk would be OP. 5 free heals on demand with no counterplay? Yeah, no.
-
I think it’s fine the way it is.
1) It requires a smart play to activate (safe unhook). At the very least, you’re probably bringing in BT so if you decide to farm a teammate they’re not instantly boned.
2) Can only be used ONCE per match, and ONLY if requisite is met.
3) Offers a great reward, and it gives you a “penalty“ (Broken status) to compensate.
This is arguably the most balanced game-changing perk.

Idk about you, my Killer queues are very quick, i start a match in at least 2 minutes, this includes the max. 1 minute wait in the lobby.
Anyway, here's how dead the game is on Steam...
Killer queues on XBOX are about 10 seconds for me, no joke.
Survivor on the other hand...

Why does stream sniping bother you? Because it “may” give someone an unfair advantage against you?
EASY FIX: Don’t stream.

Imma be honest, I sometimes do that too.

Ok your comprehension skills are at an all-time low but that's ok. I'm not salty, I was being sarcastic because if you care about rank in this game you're playing it for the wrong reasons because why would you ever take this ranking system seriously. Getting angry at absolutely everything, like getting hit on a hook otherwise you wouldn't have made this post. Stay mad.
Your sarcasm isn’t deep, get over yourself... I understood it perfectly. If someone doesn’t care about rank and is just smacking to troll, cool - they’re just going to lose versus the team I play with.
And if YOUR comprehension was any good then you would’ve read my numerous posts saying that hook smacking doesn’t bother me (as I originally stated in the OP).

I wonder if less skilled Call of Duty players complain that Multiplayer is too fast paced for them. No, they don’t. Sure, they may rage because they die more than they kill but that’s normal and the nature of a game.
DBD, although asymmetrical, is the same in the sense that killer is a fast(er) paced role where you have to maximize your time or you will lose. If you don’t try to improve at time management (dropping chases that last too long, slug when needed, etc.). Like a CoD player has to learn what guns/play styles/vantage points work for him, a Killer Player needs to learn how to patrol their map & gen layout, use their power/perks effectively, and learn to read how survivors play.
There will always be players who are just not as good at a video game who will be quick to blame the devs and balancing. If Killer is as ridiculously stressful as some of you say, stop playing it (lest you get a heart attack, God forbid)!!! I enjoy the Killer role as it is a change of pace from the Hold M1 Simulator that playing survivor can be.

True hitting on hook has no downsides if the game is already over.
Killers never get more than 2 kills against our team, so the game is never “over” if they decide to hook smack. But please, continue doing so .... waste those seconds off your PGTW or general chase time. The only salt will be from the killer.

the butt dance, what a nice word to cover up such a toxic act. to make yourselves feel better about making others feel as miserable as you perhaps?
I love it when survivors butt dance after pallet stunning me. I always end up catching them anyway. I don’t feel miserable playing a video game. Moris are probably the single most annoying thing in DBD because they cut the game extremely short for a killer who would’ve only gotten 2-3 hooks max. Butt dances aren’t nearly as annoying to me as when I first started playing.

Like when survivors teabag at a pallet literally waiting for it to be broken instead of running? Those kind of pointless animations?
Also, sometimes a killer literally hits you to stop your screaming. Its annoying as #########. Now if they KEEP hitting you, who tf cares? Does It really offend you? Probably not. Is it wasting their time? Sure. So why tell them that? Why tell them how to play better? Oh, because I'm assuming you keep having it happen to you and actually let it bother you. For some reason....
No, it doesn’t bother me because I play with friends who I know will get the gens done. Our goal is to always have at least 3 escape. Dumb killers who hook smack usually get 1 kill max against us.
Did you read my thread title? I’m literally asking killers to keep doing it because it helps my team win. 😂
-
Is the OP serious? Most killers run NOED anyways... a FREE perk, and arguably the most crutch perk in the game.
-
@ALostPuppy said:
Darn, hitting a survivor on the hook is going to causethem to derank! That must be horrible for them! They should really start playing more optimally in order to rank up as killer and get far better survivors and matches that are definitely much more fun and enjoyable!
Killers with your mentality probably lose to yellow rank survivors too. Get better at the game instead of being salty.

I hit survivors when I don't like their behaviour such as teabagging after every safe pallet (ormond), clicky clicky clicky spam etc.
But saying that hitting a hooked survivor just wastes time so does teabagging, you can gain more distance if you don't teabag, I get that you lose time as a killer but I mean you can't control what people do, let the killer hit you or whatever but I mean if you are complaining about it, it just means that you either got mad at someone that did that to you or you do that and people got mad at you.
I’m not mad when it’s done to me. Killer is wasting his own time and lets my SWF team get free progression on gens.

Not exactly, tbagging after a stun or while a killer breaks a pallet is precious time you could have been gaining distance and extending your chase, and allowing you to waste more killer time in chase as teammates do gens. Tbagging keeps you still and trims your chase down, even if it's not immediately noticeable.
Gens are still being worked on because it’s 4v1, not 1v1. It’s not as detrimental.

If killing survivors is easy, won't removing infinites and making the maps smaller make it even worse for survivors? I agree, I think killer is definitely easier than survivor right now and judging from last November stats, killer is making more than the break-even 2 kills per match on average (and I don't think there has really been any major killer nerfs except for hex:ruin, which really isn't that bad of a nerf in all honesty considering its still used almost every game).
I just don't think nerfing survivor is a good idea right now. Removing infinites always needs to be done but making maps smaller, adding more dead spots and reducing pallets is just going to make the game overwhelmingly killer sided. (I plan to only play killer when these survivor nerfs come out because survivor just isn't going to be any fun, it will be 4ks every game).
Yes, it will. Which is why I like OhTofu’s recent idea to add more mindgame pallets and window vaults in addition to the map size reduction and removal of infinites.
What BHVR is messing up with is removing the broken things like God Loops AND taking away pallets and strong loops.
It’s like if they were to nerf Ruin AND NoED in a single patch.

Console survivors might have a hard time against PC plagues, but that’s the only issue I can think about.
I don’t know why people say this all the time lol (usually it involves Nurse, not Plague). Survivors on console are just as good, if not better, than PC survivors. Console Nurse, on the other hand, is trash compared to PC... even though there are like 2 or 3 on XBOX that are decent.
-
@coppersly said:
TBH until they change the objective and make it actually take brainpower and therefor more time, we need something to counter 3 minute games.
I don't use NOED myself as a Nurse main, but I get why it needs to be in the game right now. It's the only chance some killers get if they go against meta teams from bad matchmaking.
Imagine thinking a typical DBD game lasts 3 minutes. They all last between 6-12 minutes, depending on the skill of the survivors and killer.
Edit: NOED is a perk that provides a massive reward for not doing your job. Adrenaline is frequently compared to NOED, but survivors have to finish all the gens or be alive when the exit gates are powered after a hatch close for it to proc (which requires many gens to be done unless you’re the last one alive).
-
@Talmeer said:
I have do it in a handful of situations, but always just 1 time. I had use it as "warning" to the survivor that I disliked his behavior and only in 1 case the survivor had not understand it, or was not willing to do it and well, then he was angry that he was promoted to 1 of the 2 or 3 guys I have ever facecamp in dbd :).
What a surprise, maan. What a surprise o_O.
I know what you mean... I’ll be honest and say I’ve done it before (albeit a long time ago). It cost me a gen because I had Pop and got to the gen a second too late lol.
-
@Dolls said:
I know! If I see a killer hook smacking I get that perfect timing for a safe unhook. I don't know why there are killers that do this...maybe they are unaware that they are putting themselves at a disadvantage.
Exactly. I know this thread and the title give the impression that it’s survivor-sided thinking, but it’s more of a PSA to killers that you gain nothing by doing this except waste time in game where each second counts.
Unless it’s at the end of the game when you’ve secured your hooks/kills, then it doesn’t matter of course.

So Its ok for survivors to be toxic man i really hate this playerbase
I didn’t say it’s okay for a survivor to be toxic, I said it doesn’t lose the survivor team’s time. A teabagging survivor in a chase isn’t halting gen progression from the other 3 survivors.
-
@elvangulley said:
so when are you going to call out teabagging
Survivors have time to waste. The butt dance is usually performed after a pallet stun or vaulting a window with the killer hitting a wall, which results is no time lost for the survivor team. Each second of a killer match counts, and I’ve laughed numerous times seeing a hook-smacking killer lose a kill because he was caught in the animation.
-
Freddy because he’s a braindead killer that requires no technical skill and offers great rewards.
Doctor kind of falls under the same umbrella, but I think his shocks take a LITTLE more skill than Freddy puddles.
Leatherface because usually they camp hooks.

You can also interrupt their in-progress animation if you’re quick enough with your hit. Not sure what the exact percentage is, maybe if they’re less than 50% through the unhook it will interrupt?

I'm also a pessimist.
Yeah, because everyone’s first few perks from level 1-10 are always DS, Unbreakable, Adrenaline...

@VicThor said:
I think OP is right, if someone gets unhooked next to a gate and you down them they will still crawl out...
Yeah yeah go for the unhooker. They get a sprint boost and they run out...
Back then when Legion’s deep wound condition was changed, the Dev said that a killer shouldn’t get an automatic kill. Well DS next to an exit gate is automatic win...
If you hit someone before they start the unhook animation it’s a guaranteed hook trade.

@rch614 said:
They can (and should) be nerfed in other ways than requiring death hook. Another popular suggestion is to require all 4 survivors be hooked first and then be moriable with Ebony, which isn't really crippling to it at all.
Keys should also be nerfed, but keys also don't tend to come into play until late game or if the killer is doing particularly well. Moris, however, come into play the moment after a survivor gets their first hook. The 4 survivor stipulation atleast keeps both of their time frames similar.
I agree that this is the most “middle-ground” resolution. Ivory and Cypress can be kept the same because they’re not as crippling.

The game would be unplayable if they catered to everyone like that.

Exactly what I meant.
You are going to see what you are getting once the trial starts. Still no point showing offerings...
That’s not the same. If you see a killer burn an indoor map offering, you can start figuring out your gameplan. Like you said, if it’s Lery’s and you see Myers running around without stalking then you’ll know what’s up. Or if it’s the same map with a Ghost Face or Wraith you know they’ll probably have Nurse’s. If a survivor burns Ormond or Coldwind Farm, you know they’re trying to be sweaty.

IMO Even map offerings makes no sense showing. Every time a Meyers burns Lerry's or The game everybody knows his build. This is unfair. There is no point showing any offerings.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out if it’s a Scratched Mirror Myers, period.
I think it’s more productive to see what you’re getting into before versus complete obscurity.

@aregularplayer said:
what is the point of showing any offering to the other side before the match start? even showing BPS is dumb since it may encourage the other side to want to farm, something you may absolutely hate.
If it affects the match gameplay itself (like a map offering, mori, shroud) then I think it should be shown. You’re right about BP offerings, those wouldn’t have a reason to show but why single them out? Might as well have all of them show.

-
If a killer brings a secret offering, 99% of the time it’s a Mori. Rarely is it a Shroud of Separation.
Offerings should be visible for BOTH sides. If a survivor brings a shroud of binding or Vigo’s, that will give the killer some good info as to their location. If a killer brings a Mori, knowing which variation will help the survivors know how to play. If it’s Ebony and the killer is proxy camping the hook, survivors can just work on gens.

And how many times has this “scenario” happened? Probably just that ONE time. If they’re taking the game hostage, REPORT THEM and move on. DCing needs to exist because your scenario will probably happen 1 out of 1000 games, while people DCing for stupid reasons can happen every other game.

If they want to farm, they will farm.
Then stay away from the farmers and do a gen. If they’re trying to get unhook points just let them and try to ######### on hook. If they pull you off, they will most likely focus on doing the same with someone else, giving you a chance to leave the area and work on a gen.

What if a Killer wants to farm and doesn't let me do gens to leave? These oversights aren't acceptable.
If a killer wants to farm, odds are you won’t be the only survivor alive. This is a rather extreme scenario, and you can always get hatch if you are or at least force EGC.

I completely agree - playing killer in MOST games is a cakewalk, even against SWF teams. I have no idea why people complain so damn much.
That being said, I’m glad infinites are being removed and large maps are getting reduced in size. Actually this already happened an why some changes were made long ago.
Survivors used to be able to check the killers profile on steam. This was removed for a couple of reasons.
They used it to check achievements back when there were only a few killers. They then dodged if the player had only Nurse ones for example.
You could also flag players on there profile as being blocked from contacting you. Many did this to killer who played certain ones or camped and tunneled etc. They would then dodge anyone they had blocked.
So history has shown such a feature would be abused by those who don’t like certain killers or how some people play even if it’s part of the game.
It wouldn’t be to much of an assumption to think some Killers would ban someone who played in an swf. They dodge when they think they are anyway.
It should be even for BOTH sides, in my opinion. Survivors don’t need to see which killer it is, and killers don’t need to see the names of survivors DURING THE LOBBY... only their equipment.
