I don't like the increased rates for certain maps either during events. I like having variety and playing on many different maps. I also saw the use of way more map offerings than usual.
-
It was definitely a cool and good looking map imo. I miss it occasionally too, but it was very unbalanced and I am not sure any changes could have balanced it without reworking the entire map like how BHVR is doing with RPD.
-
I play a mix of Slinger and Trickster usually. I didn't know so little play Slinger honestly.
-
Slinger is in a decent spot imo. I think Artist is placed too low.
-
I'd argue it is probably due to map design and how it could potentially complement or destroy his power. If the map has a lot of dead zones, his power is significantly stronger and survivors feel weak to face against him because his time to down immensely quick in those situations. However, if the map spawns a ton of high walls and weirdly structured rocks, Trickster takes a ton of time trying to, if he can, down the survivor in these situations. He also punishes altruism quite easily which could be difficult to face against. Like when facing Legion, you kind of need to spread out to avoid having multiple downs or injures in an area. However, his ability to shut down altruism sadly makes him a good pick for campers and gives him a bad rep.
I still play him because I think he is both fun to play as and against, but I may be one of many. I personally think he has interactive chase gameplay as you loop quite differently with him than with others, but I feel the map type can either enhance or diminish this feeling.

I only have beef with Dead Hard

That'd just make him kinda braindead to play I think, a consistent and practicable recoil pattern would work better me thinks.
I agree with this. His recoil itself isn't necessarily the problem, it is the fact that the recoil is random. If it had more of a pattern, it'd be easier to learn how to control.
-
Kind of hard to show on console, but these are my Trickster outfits.

Yeah, the recoil and the way he throws knives makes it harder to play on console from my experience of playing him on both Xbox and PC. However I wouldn't say he is too strong on PC, I would just say he plays as intended on PC and on console he falls short because the controls do not transfer as well on controller, sadly. That tends to happen for precision based killers on console but it is even more noticeable for Trickster because he needs to throw more projectiles to injure and down a person.

This thread is so pessimistic and inaccurate that it actually hurts.
Trickster is very hard to master. At a higher mmr, it becomes less about running in a straight line and more about using loop mindgames to land hits with knives. The best part about this is that with knives Trickster will eventually down survivors quicker than having to succumb to delays thanks to pallets. That is one huge advantage Trickster has over other killers.
The downside is that, again, Trickster is *very* hard to master. He's flashy and stylish so of course he's played a lot but since he has a high skill floor you get a lot of layers playing messily.
I recommend watching these three clips to get an idea of what Im talking about:

This streamer has got to be one of the best Trickster's. As you can see, he got creative with throwing knives to land those 6 hits. To add, he would even take advantage of tiny holes in loops to secure them. It takes practice but with patience and creativity you'll get there in no time!
And to those who are saying he's a bad killer, refer to Otz' tier list. He's not that bad.
Just wanted to say that I enjoyed reading your suggestions and feedback with a more optimistic approach
-
I really miss Old Freddy as I used to main him and found his power to be quite unique.
-
I never normally see it get played since I don't usually tunnel. But it is annoying when a survivor who has it really wants you to go for them to proc it. At that point though I will just leave them on the ground to waste the time of another survivor. It also sucks when it activates in the end game gate but that is just fair game at that point.
-
You need to be creative with how you play some loops by using the line of sight breakers to your advantages too and finding out what holes you can throw through in loops to get some free hits. It takes some time and practice to get that down.
Try not to continuously hold your knives when chasing unless you have line of sight or know you will have line of sight around the corner due to his decreased movement speed. Caged Heart Shoes add-on is my baby for this and helps a lot. You could also use Trick Blades or Edge of Revival Album add-ons to have an advantage in some loops, but I tend to run Fizz-Spin Soda for the increased throw rate.
You kind of have to be lucky with Main Event due to the limited duration it has to activate. I'd use it to save some knives or if you caught a survivor out in the open with it as it shuts them down easily. If you know that your Main Event will not be able to down them after they use some obstacle in your way, immediately end it so you can catch up more easily. This just comes with map knowledge. Additionally, it is okay to end some chases to restock knives as downing someone as Trickster becomes significantly harder without knives unless you can pull off an m1 mind game.
I'd recommend Pain Resonance as his gen slowdown and it works nicely on him. You could pair that with Dead Man's Switch as well if you want a better gen combo. This helps to reduce time wasted from occasionally patrolling and kicking gens.
-
The only killer I don't like playing against is the Artist because it is just a snooze fest of holding w. Maybe Nurse too since she breaks game mechanics, but I sometimes like seeing how good the Nurse player I am facing is.
-
I feel like if they changed Dead Hard to do something else and put the current Dead Hard ability into the No Mither perk then it would be fine since the drawbacks of No Mither would balance it out while also giving No Mither more value in general.
-
I'll sometimes get anxious wanting to play killer because of the fear of being humiliated in some way. As killer, the fault of a bad play usually rests solely on you. However, this fear for me usually disappears the moment I enter the match itself cuz I realize Im just trying to have fun. Even if I do poorly in the match, I won't feel bad because I think of the loss as a learning opportunity to determine what bad plays I made and what I can do to improve instead of feeling humiliated. The end game chat people are usually nice too if you simply say gg wp.

Trickster
Yun Jin
They have cool outfits

I guess the beauty of this game is that you can adopt any playstyle you want within the limits of the game itself. Just do not mind how others play and play how you want. If you want to play competitively, you can. If you wanna do side objectives or meme around, you can. Anything is viable to do if you have fun doing it as long as it is not cheating or exploiting.

Yee haw

I used to main OG Freddy. He was one of the reasons I got the the game to begin with. After the rework, I felt like his uniqueness as a killer was stripped away from him so I ventured out and tried new killers. Ever since then, I mained Deathslinger since I enjoy his playstyle. I always thought that OG Freddy was fine and simply needed some adjustments.

Adding to this, Trickster's lullaby is donut shaped. So when the TR is gone he is silent when close up.
You are right about the donut shape, but his TR actually begins when his lullaby ends within the donut shape. Because of this, undetectable surprisingly catches survivors off guard for both Trickster and Huntress because they expect to hear the TR when they are nearby.

The build I like using for Ghostface is Bamboozle, A Nurse's Calling, Sloppy Butcher, and Jolt (or Pain Resonance) with the "Philly" and Drop-Leg Knife Sheath addons. You could also replace A Nurse's Calling with Lethal Pursuer or Barbecue & Chili. Imo, try finding the build that works best for you and you'll do well either way normally.
-
I like the new ui. It's less cluttered, easier to navigate, and having the background easier to see is nice as well.
-
According to MandyTalk, there will be some base game changes along with the perk changes that addresses why the current meta perks are used so much. Therefore even if some perks like ds and bt get changed, in theory the new base game mechanics should help balance it out as well.
-
I will always prefer old Freddy's original and unique power, save for a few adjustments he could have had. His current power is boring and uninspired imo, but it has potential and I agree that his addons are what bring him down the most since they don't tend to affect his main chase power. If his movement was faster when using his power and if he got an addon pass that gave him boosts to his actual chase powers, then I think he'd be in a pretty good spot. As someone stated previously, Nightmare being able to utilize both his snare and pallet powers in a match would give him good versatility as well. His power needs to be strong in order for his weakness of awake survivors not being affected by it to make sense.
-
Need more Julie and Joey outfits
-
Slinger, Trickster, PH, and Nemesis for me
-
Besides the terror radius change, I like the changes Slinger. A few adjustments I'd like added are an increased base movement speed when aiming, 24m TR, and an addon pass. Other than that, I find him fun to play.
-
If you shoot a survivor as Slinger at a pallet, you initiate a staring contest.
-
Daring today, aren't we
-
I already use it for fun so yeah I'll probably continue to use it whenever I feel like it.
-
I like his current playstyle. I just think they should make his terror radius 24m with 4.0m/s ads movement speed and quicker default reload speed to enhance that playstyle more.
-
I agree, I find him fun to play. I did not have a problem with the ads change since I think it is just muscle memory to learn and provides gameplay for both sides. I still think he needs some buffs since his overall changes were not entirely in his favor. A 24m terror radius, faster reload speed, and increased ads movement speed would help his gameplay style in my opinion. Oh, and please give him an add-on pass.
-
My addiction is shadowborn. I haven't taken it off in a long time as it is a part of me.
-
I tend to have fun on DBD with this mindset since I believe this is more of a party game than a competitive one so I play it as such. This allows me to use different builds without worrying about my performance necessarily. I don't expect to get sacrifices so I don't aim for it either. The goals I set for myself in the match are more like "How many people can I get with my power" in order to learn a killer or "how many people can I mind game with this trick" and things like that. I just find ways to have fun myself in the match and laugh at any of the bugs that show up along the way.
-
I'm okay with how the ads system works rn. It provides more skill for the killer, as it is more muscle memory than anything, and counterplay for the survivor. I think they should buff around this system though because they did not give him much in return to compensate.
I think he should move at 4m/s while aiming to promote the playstyle and his terror radius should revert back to 24m so that he feels more like a hunter again. That would be a good change for me personally. Also some faster default reloading speed would be nice.
He definitely needs better addons as well. Not sure if anything should change with his base movement speed. That would need a lot of testing to make sure that is fair.
-
He is not as bad as everyone says. The aiming is more muscle memory than anything and the faster ads movement speed it nice. His biggest problem for me is that monitor is practically mandatory on him to get closer for a short.
-
I find Slinger fun to play personally. You have to learn his power by playing him quite a bit but that, for me, is part of the fun as well.
-
I've been playing Billy a lot recently and I thought something was up since that patch.
-
I mained old Freddy. Currently I main Freddy and Deathslinger. I also love playing Legion and Billy.
-
I play Quentin and Zarina since I like their outfits.
For killer, I play Deathslinger and Freddy since the Redeemer has a fun gameplay style and mechanic that I enjoy. For Freddy, he is just iconic for me as I love the movies (but I would enjoy Freddy more if they brought back his og power).

I mean, it wouldn't really be broken in any way if he was just always 115%. He has limited range and can't down over pallets. That's already less than Plague, PH.
True, I would like to try that out. It would be better than leaving him the way he currently is.
-
As a current Slinger main, I still enjoy playing him. For anyone learning him, he will definitely be hard to get used to.

It's kinda sad. Hey this perk can be too good against bad players, alright let force everyone to use it!
Also mending tactic got worse because of CoH.
I agree, CoH disrupts Slinger a lot currently. Not every Slinger used Monitor before as well and it was simply a nice perk on him since it enhanced what the game made him into: a stealthy ranged hunter. Now in order to play as he is intended, a specific perk is needed. It was a completely unneeded change.
The balance team has the problem of changing more than is needed. The best example I can give is when they overnerfed Freddy. Freddy's action penalty add-ons were problematic, but now he is left with a lackluster power and add-ons that do nothing to enhance his gameplay. And I still prefer og Freddy so both my mains being nerfed sucks.
I personally think the ads changes were okay as it gives survivors some counterplay (although the values could be reduced a bit) and it is more of a muscle memory thing to learn, but they did not give him much to compensate for the change. I think he should keep his 24m terror radius, move at 4.0m/s when aiming, change his ads movement speed addons into spear speed add-ons, and increase the values of his add-ons as they do not do a whole lot currently.
I read somewhere in another discussion that he should move at 115% when he has not reloaded. An interesting idea, but I think that would be more of an add-on change idea.
-
For me personally: I find him better to play around loops by pre-aiming, I can choose to give deep wound to someone and go after another to waste some of their time, I can hit shots that I can't normally hit with Huntress, and most of all I find his gun more fun to play with.
As you said though, since his basekit stealth gameplay was removed, I find Monitor and Abuse to be mandatory on him.
I don't think Deathslinger overall is better than Huntress, but for me he is more fun to use.

Stridor is fine.
Nerf Iron Will.
The only perk that should give you 100% noise reduction is No Mither.
Yeah, I never understood why Iron Will has the better value than No Mither. Since No Mither gives the drawback of being broken all game, that perk should give 100% noise reduction and Iron Will, with no drawbacks, should be 75%.
-
His aiming didn't change that much for me personally since I can still quickly shoot and sometimes I tend to aim in and wait for them to run into my shot anyway. My biggest problem with him is his terror radius being 32m since he was meant to play like a hunter and I find monitor and abuse to be mandatory on him now. Regardless, still my second most played killer.
-
Deathslinger is currently the second killer I play the most so I would main him if the Nightmare was removed. Although if they could somehow add Jason into the game, he would be my new main for sure.
