Im amazd how many people see this proposal as some sort of minor qol change lol. Letting survivors see all their auras permanently and unconditionally is one of the biggest survivor gigabuffs possible.
Still wont make people work together smartly.

I mean yeah. Survivors are getting so efficient while maps are actively changing in their favor in a way where low tiers simply aren't that viable anymore if the survivors have any idea what game they're playing. It's a lot more fun to use Ghoul and Blight and have constant/interactive chases than running from pallet to pallet and breaking like a literal robot.
A lot of the reason people don't exactly like Ghoul and Blight is that they are the types of killers where you are forced to be the better player to play well against whether they like to admit it or not.I recently was told that anything not sitting on a gen may as well be being afk.
So when a killer does focus 1 target deadits toxic but when a survivor focus a gen down without "wasting time searching and walking between gens" (multply by each free surv), its just the expected normal gameplay.
Its funny how the efficiency (and hypocrisy)is hardwired into the survivor brain.
-
Good, lets buff nurse then ;-)
You know, the other "bad players suck, good players stomp" character right behind "survivor".

Apathy is a word that springs to mind.
Not as disastrous as last time, but still a pretty unforgiving change for a good majority of the killer cast whether tunneling or not... and yet people still act like the effect is nothing.
At this point I would rather rip the band aid off, kick numerous killers into the dirt and watch the killer exodus to stronger killers, or off the game.
Arent it like 3 basekit perks for survivor this time? Calling that "nothing" is vile.
-
How about survs do a gen or chase a bit and then just ... stop.
You did more than your part, just stop. You dont need to escape, its enough. You did well and some part of the community will be content or even thankful and reward you good boy points. Yes youre a goodboy!
By the way you suck cuz you didnt escape [Teabags you anyways]
/S
Can we please stop demanding your opponent to not do their objective?
-
Are you really calling the speed difference handholding?
Its the fundamental math that decides the map geometry. They added bloodlust cuz it was too troublesome to change all the tiles.
And please font tell me actual infintes and the impossibility to do chases there was acrually a good thing for the game.
Ive seen some wild survivormain-ism but thatd be wild even for that standard.

The devs are still convinced the game is killer sided cus of these horribly skewed stats. Everything they change is based off the stats, rather than the devs actually playtesting their game, if they watched a few minutes of high mmr or even a swf, they'd see how much better the role is than majority of the roster.
Mccote needs to play live again lol

If the survivors focus one gen down, they're slowed down by default and they're really vulnerable to interruption.
I wasnt talking about what the team is doing, i was talking about each sole survivor. So take what I talked about and mulitply it by the number of survs not currently in a chase. (Should start using a disclaimer lol)
.
-
Dont bother explaining it. Nerfing nurse crusade died down, so tunneling is the new target.
Survivors have the choice to focus 1 gen down or walk around and spread their repair among gens; they choose to focus one, theyre smart and efficient, goodboys! Someone told me that doing the latter is the same as going afk, by the way.
Killers have the choice to focus 1 target or spread the chases/hooks evenly among survivors; they choose to focus 1, toxic cheap easy bad killer!

So many definitives. ALWAYS going to have a bad first chase. ONLY playing the top tier killers. I realize being hyperbolic on the internet traditionally gets killers what they want (and it will this time too) but these things just aren't true. I'm not playing any of these suposed top tier killers right now nor am I seeing them often in my survivor matches.
You want evidence? Then give evidence. Post your stream of videos that show 3 gens popping during first chase with you making no mistakes and it solely being because of pallets, match after match. Post a stream of videos of survivor matches with nothing but Blights and Nurses.
We ALWAYS get tunneled!
ALL Nurses are OP!
So many absolutes, right?
I ONLY get tunneled. EVERYTHING is tunneling.
lol as if Survivors didnt cry wolf just as often.
-
Nurse and blight?
If swf is what solo needs to be buffed towards, then the ideal killer level is where the strong killers who match swf are.

I'd say it does matter, because people on both sides define tunneling and slugging differently — and those definitions often shape how each side views whether it's fair or not.
As you said, people sometimes "vilify" others, but maybe if we actually look at both sides of the coin, some of those perceptions could change.
Sure, tunneling is generally understood as focusing on getting one Survivor out. But the context is what I’m curious about. When is it considered okay? Is it strategic at 5 gens? During a 3-gen? When someone's looping forever or is the weakest link? Or is it just something people do casually for fun?
Same with slugging — yes, it's not picking someone up. But why do it? If you’re Killer-biased, I’m genuinely curious: when do you think it's a justified tactic?
My post was meant to go beyond just defining the terms — I’m more interested in understanding the reasoning behind them.
Why would it be problematic to deploy at 5 gens? Survivors focus down gens at 0kills, 0 hooks, 0 chases. They dont swap targets (ive seen someone claim swapping gens or moving between them, is the same timewaste as being afk). Why should the killer not start doing their chosen strategy as soon they can/want? Survivors are already doing so.
As for justifying slugging? I understand the problem with letting [all remaining survivors] be slugged at the same time for the whole 4 minutes, that's the only problematic case. It may be solved by the ptb proposed unbreakable solution (another meta perk free wohoo) or by simply sacrificing all survivors who are irreversibly hooked and slugged. All other instances of slugging is just betting on trading time spent hooking for disabled unhook perks and the missed hookstate. Picking up a slug isnt that different from unhooking, right?
In the end, I dont think there are any deep reasons behind these strategies. They work, people use them.
-
Does it really matter what you define as tunneling when youre still vilifying the people doing this perfectly normal strategy also used by the other side?
Anyways tunneling is getting one survivor out asap, one survivor 2 hooks in a row.
Slugging is, surprise surprise, not picking up a slug.
I'm killer biased, so take this with a block of salt, but imo some survivors do have some hardcore scrub-mentality when it comes to killers using certain strategies.
-
I mean disconnecting during the last hook or the mori animation with no other survivors left should definitely count as kill.
Didnt they add some abandon condition that'd leave you with a bot that could theoretically still win?
I mean how do you rate schrodingers survivor when his player ragequits/dc's but his body still can either lose or win.

Killers seeing items makes most of them useless. It's too easy for a killer to go into their perks and put on lightborne because they see one flashlight on a survivor. I see it as a form of cheating. What if we were able to see killers add ons? Wouldn't be too fair huh?
Yes that'd be cheating cuz the devs currently do not intend survivors to do so, just like when survs used some widget to read ingame files to see their killer in lobby..
Killers, by design of the game, can see the survivors and prepare. May be outdated or unfair in your opinion, but it's still the "killer watches them at campfire"-premise and part of the balance.

This does not seem remotely true to me.
If 17/20 matches were 4ks, even if the other 3/20 were 0ks, the escape rate would be roughly 15%, when official data shows it leans more towards 40%.
Nono. OP may be right about his escape rate of 15%.
But there are survivors who escape more than him in their own trials. It then averages to 40% or however high the stats were.

Spreading gens is litterally the optimal solution. Anyone who upvoted doesn't even understand the basic of the game that splitting to do generators is the optimal way to play survivor… Wow…
Good thing i wasnt talking about what the team does, but what "you" as indivisual survivor are choosing to do. And you seem to agree that focusing on 1 gen to finish instead of swapping every x seconds is the correct way.
Thanks for agreeing that survivors are hypocrites when they say "tunnel bad".

Ugh. Gen rushing is not a real thing, it's a concept that makes no sense, that's like playing LoL and saying the ennemy team is Core rushing.
It's called doing the objective.
Killer have multiple ways to complete their objectives (Basically, either tunneling or hooking a lot, the entire problem of the game is that tunneling is even an option, and the most effective), survivors have only one way to complete their objective.
Calling winning "gen rushing" is crazy. You can choose to A) do 1 gen 0-100% until interrupted or B) swap gens every 25% to "spread the gens"... Most survivors choose A).
Why are you vilifying killers who chose A) too?
-
Id rather have the weaker killers be buffed to match survivors.
-
- Survivor gets unhooked
- Becomes ethereal
- Runs inside unhooker
- Killer attacks
- Ethereal survivor pesses E to
deadhardto become ethereal to bodyblock anyways.
This is just elusive but with extra steps. You know the thing that was abused on ptb.
While I actually dont think this should be implemented, here are a few pointers to make it not abuseable:
- The ethereal survivor would need to be completely inivisble and undetectable. Even to other survivors.
- The ethereal survivor cannot interact with objects except windows. That will be reenabled 1-5 seconds after becoming material.
- The ethereal cannot see or hear the killer, the terror radius or other survivors.
- If the last point is too harsh... Maybe allow vision of the aura of survivors who are currently not in chase or more than 24m away.

Can we not tell Survivors to "just counter tunneling" when Killers refused to counter the anti-tunnel mechanic and instead cried and got it cancelled in two days?
"Kill that guy and you get a penalty"
How are you supposed to counter that?
Please dont say "dont kill that guy" cuz thats just following the new rule imposed on killers, not countering it.
-
While I've never played mortal kombat, i guess they should add trickster. Having him throw knvies like Nu-13(blazblue) does swords would be funny.
But other than being an annoying prick, Trapper as DBD's face should be the representive.
-
Considering its the only difference, yeah that'd instantly close the solo-swf gap.
But we cant have comms become part of the game and thus subject to balance. People need their comms to stay the legal cheat/bonus it currently is. /s

@Alicia_Tried6041 said:
How is there ANY excuse to leave survivors slugged more than 90 seconds? The changes were more than fair and even killers were rewarded for hooking and not tunneling. The changes were fine. The thing is killers don't want fairness. Sorry but I have played thousands of matches and its pretty bad that 90% of the game is lost to slugging or tunneling slugging being the worst.
Why arent you picking that slug up?
-
Give survivors voicechat or those chatwheel / message systems. That's it. Thats the only difference that might be there between "solo" and "swf".
Anything else is player behavior the devs cant change. Well they could add really intrusive ruleset-mechanics that badly enforce certain playstyles like ptb-anti-tunnel, but would you really want "heal that idiot or else..."-punishments?

Why should they do this? Play by the rules and stop taking unintended shortcuts. On PTB killers still just tried to exploit the new mechanics instead of adjusting their gampleay according to the intended gameplay. Thats the actual issue: killer mindset is twisted.
What about chasing and downing survivors in an order THEY dont like is against the rules?
-
- Killing efficiently bad, doing gens good
- Everything is tunneling, genrushing is just a niche build. (Bet 3 peeps with boxes but 1 without isnt genrush lol)
- Genrush is just doing the objective, tunneling is not
- Delay hatch bad, delay egc good (both being disadvantageous gamestates)
- Long chases killer skill issue, short chases killer op, toxic stragey etc
Did i miss some?
-
Lol at the "2k is a draw"-coping.
Who's the opponent who neither wins or loses? The 2 dead survivors who lost, the 2 survivor who won or the mythical "survivor team", whose existence hasnt been proven yet?
A draw can only happen if theres an inconclusive result for multiple parties.

Is that not what happens whenever gen speeds or hatch is mentioned?
? Isnt that more like complaining about nurse existing or the strength of killers. Thats game mechanics or variables. Hatch is also a proven necessary evil.
This is about strategies or more the opposition's demand for you to not play to win.
Survivors tell killers to let the last go while survivors just... escape. Afterall when was the last time someone told survivors to just... dont.
Might be wrong cuz i havent played in a long while, but is there a collective effort to restrict survivors how they play, or shame them for their strategies, like people do against killers?
Its not even about the last escapee in a 4e to turn around and get hooked cuz "its good manners like giving a pity hatch". why arent the first three to escape contemplaiting "woah that went well but i dont need to escape, i did enough". They simply brush it off to the people escaping after them.
"I dont need [4k, escape], i did enough and show mercy" was ever only enforced on one side's players.
Yeah i admit only seeing 4k as a victory is kinda strict on yourself and might lead tosome mental stress. Survivors did well to evolve a "wanna play chill"-mentality. Which is quite exemplary, ... If they didnt try to force it on their opponent.

And if a killer gets consistent 4k that only means hes better than the survivors, be it they suck or he's just that good. How is it not possible that the reason they are getting 4ks is that the game is tilted in their favor?
Survivors used to be the power role. It wasn't because the survivors were better then, it was because the game was weighed in their favor. It's on the opposite side now.
I've recently seen omeone proclaim that a killer deserves to lose if he cant use hia skills to get survivors. Ergo, if a killer kills the survivors, hes their better and deserves those kills.
The power-role (killer) needs to be stronger than the numbers-role ( survivor), survivors being stronger broke the genre in the past.
Personally i think the strongest survivor ( good players in swf) can be is quite equal to the strongest killer can be ( good player on A-S tier killer, im being nice and using the former bracket instead of just "nurse")

You're making my argument for me. Consistent 4k should have always been an exceptional game. I've already admitted I expect to die in my trial. I certainly don't expect all 4 Survivors to escape!
"A killer wanting to kill all survivors" is the equivalent to "a survivor wanting to escape"
And if a killer gets consistent 4k that only means hes better than the survivors, be it they suck or he's just that good.
-
If you aren't skilled at using your power or survivors are simply playing better, then you are supposed to lose.
By that logic all survivors who complain about killers killing them are massive hypocrites cuz the killer was simply their better by killing them. After all, if you arent skilled at evading getting killed, you're supposed to lose.
-
God i wish people would shame survivors for trying to escape like they do killers for trying to do their goal. Which is killing all 4 survivors, for the people who apparantly forgot.
Cant get how this hypocrisy is still going strong in year 10.

making perks basekit is a bandaid fix, it should not have been a thing to begin it, give the killers a reason not to tunnel, not punish them and not fix the problem
I rather have the feeling that bssekit-perks are the endgoal. Borrowed time was THE perk back then.... Nobody wastes the perkslot anymore since 100% of its t3 became basekit.

The balance of the game looks like this because everyone is whining "but bully swf". Surely, balance game even more around top tier 4man to make the game even more miserable to every other teams. :D
... "But suupaalf 2000kill streak" - as if the community isnt judging killers by the best/most annoying to face players and tactics.
Surely we're allowed to hold both killer and survivor to the same standard, right?
-
I'd rather have the fatigue be less ... "Stares at floor forhalf the trial" ... than just upping the numbers.
I mean if her ms wasnt as bad and she didnt lose los all the time, maybe the rabid anti-nurse-crusaders might finally get their wish. But it might not be "the nurse" by then anymore.
Now to enrage said crusaders: shes as pefectly finetuned as the survivor character shes the measuring stick for. Nerf her and the survivor character needs to be nerfed at the top end too.
-
Nope. Its old info iirc but devs stated multiple times theyre not gonna balance "solo" and "swf" differently.
Its just "survivor"
Its also hypocritic that the community is using "solo" for "bad players" and "killer" for "#1 nurse player when he"s sweating for a record streak"
-
First off, this is such a great buff that'd deserve killer compensation.
Secondly, I think comms shouldnt be added without a chatwheel or similiar stuff as weaker alternative to people who dont wanna hear voices. I mean chat messages like "focus generators" and "heal me". Identity V has those and i think you dont need many to get the general gist. Or some ping tools (point at a location/object and highlight it/ show a message.
Obviously we could just gave survivors permanent aura reading of each other. Theoretically, thats the braindead spoonfed version of the result of good comms usage by good players. But that'd require the devs to buff all killers, except pig.

It is PVP, but at its core it's very much a casual game. The game peaks when you have 5 players that don't take the game very seriously and wanna mess around. Custom games with 4 other friends where you pass around Killer has to be a blast.
The issue is that for years now, it's been balanced as if it's a competitive, tourney-level game and it's not nor will it ever be. You can't have a successful nor fair team game with such limited communication and resources for team play; consistent ranking with such heavy RNG (not like ranks exist anyway); or a reliable MMR system with so many variables at play. It's just not that kind of game.
DBD is essentially the spirit of Mario Party, the joy of hide and go seek, and the roster of Fortnite. But it's treated as if it's League or DOTA.
Mario Party might be the worst comparison if youre trying to paint dbd as fun little party game.
Dota and League didnt have people blister their hands while playing, Mario Party 1 or 2 did. Nintendo had to offer gloves.
I had it happen to a friend too, its not just internet trivia for me. Pople have fun in MP, but theyre definitely playing to win.
-
It doesnt matter if the other survivors are alive or not, you're still supposed to open an exit and leave.
The trial doesnt end if half the survivors are dead. They're not a team that loses if theres more dead than alive. Theyre 4 individual contestants thrown into the same trial, regardless what the community thinks.
THe whole 2 survivors refusing to do their stuff because the hatch is a lazy way out should've been patched way earlier. Damn vultures waiting for each other to die first.
-
Bhvrs' mistake was to let survivors get used to ragequitting. When they add DC penalties, they shouldve made sure these couldnt be skipped asap.
A surrender vote wouldve been preferable to the whole abandon copout.

That’s a bit disingenuous - a gen doesn’t get frustrated it wasn’t able to do anything all match.
They’re both objectives yes, but tunneling prevents a player from accomplishing ANYTHING other than being run down and hooked, gen rushing doesn’t mean the killer can’t do anything.
May I ask where i talked about generator feelings? They obviously dont have any except seething hate of getting touched, cant explain the skillchecks otherwise.
Jokes aside, It's obviously the killer who's frustrated when the survivors escape before the killer reached his arbitrarily chosen goal (often 4 kills). just as survivors who are frustrated when they get hooked (and possibly killed) before they reach their own arbitarily chosen goal (often escaping).

It's funny how these topics always end up being survivors complaining that killers don't let them escape while also complaining that killers are playing the game with the intent to win. Unaware they are doing the exact thing they accuse killers.
Killers are tryhards ( play to win )
Survivors are additionally scrubs ( play by arbitarily chosen handicaps and demand the opponent to also do so, dont tunnel, no nurse etc). " No throws" in fighting games is a common example.
In dbd its simply worse cuz the asym nature means that survs can be hypocrites ( see tunnel vs genrush, both is focusing a target down asap)

Anxway whats this big difference between survivor and survivor i keep heraing about? Ingame there isnt a difference netween "solo and swf".

Give em permanent bond and some ping/chat - wheel tools and be over with it. Then be amazed when its still not enough and killers still need to be comensated.
