He has a much easier projectile to dodge (imo the easiest projectile to dodge in the game), his grab mechanic is hilariously easy to avoid, and his TP has a map wide tell when it's happening.
The only problem I've had so far against him while playing as survivor (which I've done since killer queues are unplayable) is that there is a bug where he comes out invisible from the door.
Projectile also seems to be affected wildly by ping. I've watched one of my friends get hit by it and I was genuinely surprised it hit, even knowing how Huntress hatchets work.
The grab is kind of busted, honestly. It is absurdly good at tunneling and since he can just TP straight back to hook (and be invisible) there's little you can do to stop him from tunneling you and getting you banned lmao

if a tunnel in a game ruins your days then you should take a break from the game
There's a difference between tunneling to win and tunneling because you think its funny to see other people miserable.
Generally, the presense of a on-stream counter of "whining toxic survivors mains tunneled" is a good indicator.

You guys seem to really think that because someone queued up for the "killer" role that you just assume the worst of them. People are intentionally doing this to cause people to get penalties? That is some serial killer level mindset right there.
People bleed out for fun.
People hunt down POC Survivors for fun.
People tunnel to ruin people's days.
It is absolutely possible that some of the worst elements in the community are using this as an excuse.

Probably trying to give people penalties now that word has gotten out.

New releases don't get killswitched. It would kill the hype for the release stone dead, and I strongly doubt they'd want to kill the hype for the single most requested license the game's ever had.
I think parts of RE were killswitched.
RPD crashed consoles for months. Nemesis did the same.

Imagine if people would have predicted this xD
If only someone had told them that trying to punish people for playing isn't a good idea.
If only someone had told them that any system they tried to implement would either be ineffectual or catch a TON of innocent players in the crossfire.
Weird how that worked out.

Should've been here during the two hours queues when Ghostface released lol.
Whenever there's a Killer-only chapter, queues explode.

Maybe I missed the memo. Where was it announced that tunneling is a bannable offense?
EDIT - ah, I see this is a discussion where apparently getting tunneled can get yourself banned as a survivor. Is this related to the afk system or something? I have not played the update, yet.
Go Next Prevention bans you if you die too quickly.
If you get tunneled off hook, you can and will be banned.
BHVR strikes again.

Tunneling is literally not a bannable offense. It's part of gameplay- part of gameplay that needs to be looked at and adjusted, imho, but part of gameplay nonetheless.
Yeah, but it does flag the matches for review. Since you can get banned for being tunneled now, it may not be a terrible idea to flag those matches and keep them in the system, so to speak. That way you have something to show Support.
That's about the only way you could fight those false bans, from what I see. Not really sure what else you can do except play Civ

If you're a new player and you're losing over and over... I would hope you'd be coming on here to ask for advice on getting better BEFORE insisting the other side is OP and unfair and needs to be nerfed.
That's kind of out the window, at this point.
DBD hit critical mass about four years ago, and there is FAR too much information for the average person to be expected to learn.
Even I would have trouble, and I have a weird brain that lets me absorb information extremely quickly.

For sure, the devs tend to have to follow up every update with bug fixes and the like. Haven't played a whole lot of survivor today to see any issue with the crows myself, but if its as finicky as people have been saying, then I would expect tweeks. My brother was already ranting about the new sound issue to me before I was seeing it here on the forums. Considering how crippling of a bug that can be and how often Springtrap is likely to be played... a break from DBD might be a good idea.
Wasn't really talking about the player stats for bug discussion and such, rather in reply to when ppl start going off about how the other side is OP and needs nerfs. Especially from a brand new account made today. Playing both sides offers alot of insight and now we have a nifty way of filtering ppl who play both sides and people who just cry for nerfs for the OTHER side because they just lost a match.
Which sounds nice, but it is a way to silence new players and discredit their experiences.
-
I did not know most Survivors searched for generators.
On a map like Lery's, I could understand, but most maps are wide open fields at this point. Gens are obvious.
The Axe seems to be an exceedingly effective anti-loop from what I've seen. Especially with the speed add-ons/perks, he basically gets an instant down on certain maps like Rotten Fields. -

This whole thread was merely to discuss the inequalities in the gameplay on both sides. You mentioned the game being dependent on a nice killer is a spot on! I survivor main, when i play killer it's so easy i have a habit of just torturing and then allowing them to escape, rather it be all of them or the last one. My survivor heart just wants them to have a break.
I never expect to escape every match. The game is fun and thats why i had continued to play, although it is defeating on how hard it is to actually win a match as a survivor.
No matter what messed up perks a survivor has or the whole team together its more than likely still a 4k for most moderately skillful killers. Its a game that takes little effort to win on one side and extreme teamwork and basic communication for another.
I think the Killer experience depends entirely on how nice you feel. If you tunnel, many games will be easy for you, and a few will be very difficult. If you do not, some will be easy, some difficult and very very few impossible.
So I do not think it is entirely accurate to say that Killer takes little effort. Certainly, Trapper will have to put in a LOT more effort than Nurse or Blight or Kaneki.

You dont need to be an EXPERT, but your opinions should be informed if you want to be taken seriously. I think I've provided 2 pretty good examples of what I meant. 43 games as Ghostface doesn't make me an EXPERT, but definitely allowed my MMR to settle and if I claimed he was too easy to win as... the numbers would back that up. If I made the same claim with Cenobite with my 1 match on record on the other hand...
And of course if I claimed something is too easy and should be nerfed while I myself have losing stats using it, it really doesn't show a good picture, lol.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/QK2PYB4XWKJ1/1000001766.jpg
I suck at Unknown and haven't put in any time into him to get use to his power. If I claimed he was easy to 4k with and should be nerfed... my own stats would show I was talking out my ass.
If you really want statistical validation to back up the claim that Killer is easy, fine. If I must meet your exacting demands in order to be included in this discussion, I will meet them
Keep in mind, I played from early 2018. This is probably about HALF of my total stats. Now that we've apparently established that I have the right to speak on a DISCUSSION forum, let's continue.
Killer is easier now than it should be. Survivor seems to be a grueling experience, where much of your enjoyment is beholden to the Killer feeling nice. Relying on other players' inherent goodness is never good game design.
I cannot blame people for being frustrated. AFK Crow changes, while well-intentioned, were implemented disastrously. Go Next Prevention is penalizing normal players who are getting tunneled out, and you had better BELIEVE that some Killers will start doing that on purpose.
BHVR continues to put out half-baked products year after year, and since there is absolutely zero competition, they never feel any real threat to continuing to push out unfinished and lackluster products.

It would just be to call out those who claim playing so and so is so easy and the OTHER side needs to be nerfed... Those ppl tend to claim they do extremely well when they play it and therefore are a good judge of it being OP. I'm not trying to flex my hours played or anything, merely check if a person claiming Doctor is OP and deserves nerfs has ever played AS Doctor for example and has a high winrate with him.
You don't need to play as someone to see they are OP.
I'm kind of with OP, I don't like how they've presented the arguement, but they are correct.

I say it again:
Multihooking is objectively bad. You are actively delaying yourself from completing the killer objective of getting kills, by leaving kills as the secondary obj, to hooks.
Like you're using such a strawman argument. DUH obviously in the nine years there have been times when good survivors lose to multihooking, that does not mean it happens consistently enough to be considered viable, nor is it the norm.
The norm is that good survivors can take advantage of a killer letting 4 of them live for an extended period of time. Multihooking is up to the matchmaker. If you get good survivors, you can't multihook. If you get bad survivors, you can multihook. You denying that does not change that, that is the fact and that is what every top killer has said since the dawn of time. Even the one that that dude tried to link to me as "evidence on the contrary", the video creator himself had to clarify in the comments that yea… it's pretty much up to the matchmaker. And all the comments called him out on that and said what I've been saying.
It's like saying because you can beat a collegiate basketball player maybe 1/50 times, that means it's good like??? No. Just because good survivors have lost to multihooking before in a 9 year span, does not mean that it's good and viable. That is illogical.
Is it objectively bad, or is it objectively WORSE than other options?
I think that's what everyone is hung up on. Multi-hooking is viable for pretty much everyone, but it is certainly more difficult and riskier than tunneling someone out early. It's actually straight-up better for you as a player, because tunneling will let you slack in other areas as a Killer and never really develop certain skills.
Tunneling is easier and definitely stronger than multi-hooking. It has a considerable amount less risk and a exponentially bigger payoff.
So, if you were to say that multi-hooking is objectively WORSE than tunneling someone out, I think a lot of people would agree, but to claim it isn't a viable strategy is false.
-
Absolutely not. I love DB, and JoJo, but they do not fit at all.

Killrates are flawed. You can't play solo queue survivor without someone DCing or killing themselves every other game, which massively inflates the stats. Nurse has had a sub 50% killrate for years. This is the only chart I've seen with her so high, and this is actually the *weakest* Nurse has ever been. Are you also going to argue that Nurse used to be the weakest killer? No? Then stop with the killrates. They mean nothing and Nurse proves that.
I wonder if you'd keep the same tune if Kill Rates and Escape Rates were flipped. I imagine you'd have quite a different opinion if Killers had a 40% KR.
People will always find a way to rationalize their way out of data that doesn't fit their narrative. Survivor hasn't been the power role in half a decade. Any issues on the front lie with individual players, not the balancing of the game.
-

People aren't arguing against making the game better, they're arguing against pandering to children that would quit even if the game started with 0 gens remaining.
Survivor is already the power role. It does not need buffs. Every "unfun" killer playstyle has been nerfed through both basekit changes and perk/kit reworks, while the only toxic survivor one to be nerfed to the same degree is stealth. Which wasn't even powerful to begin with.
Power Role BTW

Well done on correctly using quotation marks this time and accurately responding to something I said. I still maintain that your last response was total trash BS.
As for this response, I respect it more, though I do disagree.
First of all, why are you playing a game that you don't enjoy? Genuine question. I can understand certain things annoy you about the game, but I genuinely don't understand the concept of playing a game you don't enjoy. It suggests to me that the game has become an addiction, which is not healthy.
Besides, what do the devs use when deciding on what changes to make to the game? By far, the biggest factor is player count. If people who dislike the direction the game is going in continue playing, and thus continue keeping the player count high, then the devs will think everything's fine.
Joining a game and going next within a few minutes is just such a selfish thing to do for people who are playing the game to have fun, and it doesn't serve any purpose. I saw a video of a guy on Youtube who is just mindlessly joining games and quitting immediately game after game. His facial expression never changed and he didn't say anything the whole time. It was weird af. It's just weird to join a game you pre-emptively are going to dislike and quit as soon as you're triggered.
I don't know what CS2 is, but if you feel the game is toxic and want that to change, keeping the game's user counts high is going to do little to change that.
First off, are we talking about me, or are we talking about the general population of this game? As I said, I do not play anymore because I found nothing to enjoy in Killer, so I quit, albeit begrudgingly.
As for others, well, it's multi-faceted. When you play CoD, and you get pissed off at it, there's a plethora of others FPS games. If you play Hell Let Loose and get tired of it, there are plenty of other mil sims. When you play Overwatch and get tired of it, there are plenty of other Hero Shooters. When you play DBD and get fed up with how poor of an experience it is, you can play……DBD. There's nothing else out there. Plus sunk-cost fallacy and all that.
I would argue that monetary success and good press are more important. When they got absolutely lambasted for not having color blind settings a few years back, after a tone-deaf answer (imo) following a comment about how long the game had been out and it still didn't have basic accessibility options, color blind settings came in the next PTB.
Likewise, skins and DLC are the top priority. The predatory pricing and marketing have only been getting worse.
As for the guy you watched, surely you understand that, well, he isn't normal. Normal players play a couple of games, get frustrated, and maybe they quit. Maybe they suicide, maybe they just give up differently. I'm sure BHVR has numbers on this how often people requeue after DC'ing.
Counter-Strike 2 and I would not touch it with a ten-foot poll lol

You actually put quotation marks to suggest I said something I didn't. Says everything about the type of people part of the go-next community.
At no point did I even remotely suggest any part of what you said. There is nothing I said that could even be remotely interpreted that way. You actually had to blatantly misquote me to try and somehow prove your point.
What I quite clearly suggested is that if you don't enjoy the game, play a different game. This game isn't for you if you don't find it fun.
It is totally fine to complain about the game being fun because you want it to be fun. It is totally not fun to make the game unfun for others (referring to your misquotation of my comment) by joining and quitting games ruining the experience for those that do find the game fun as it is.
Typical go-next child. Grow up. Mis-quote me again to try and prove your point.
I do not play the game anymore BECAUSE I did not enjoy Killer anymore. I did not play Survivor much, so not a part of this go next thing you seem to be so set on.
Telling people, "if you don't like it, play something else," is extremely poor advice. Especially when you insist that the people not having fun getting tunneled, gen rushed, BM'd or whatever else are the issue and NOT the fact that those things are so prevalent and problematic.
If you want an ultra-toxic unfun mess that you feel forced to play, maybe you should consider going back to CS2 or League and stop trying to bring that sentiment here.

The carrot does work. Once you give multihooking an actual purpose and benefit to doing it? You can do all the anti-whatever patches you want. Doing anti-whatever patches when you still haven't given an actual benefit to multihooking in LITERAL years outside of like… 2 perks in the whole game, just butchers more viable playstyles while leaving the playstyle you WANT people to do, as complete garbage.
It's plain and simple. Multihooking sucks. Not improving that, but still doing anti-whatever patches just worsens the killer experience and benefits survivors when you could just… benefit both sides???
You cannot give a carrot because the carrot would have to be massively overpowered, just like tunneling.
We all agree that CoB, Overcharge, PR, Eruption meta was pretty horrific, right? We all know that was stupidly busted OP.
That still didn't dissuade people from tunneling. Whatever you give to multi-hooking has to be STRONGER than the strongest Killer meta we have ever seen. The only way multi-hooking "replaces" tunneling is by being so easy and so strong that it's the new meta.
-

Are you purposefully ignoring what I'm saying so you can try and prove your point even though you're literally arguing air???
You do not get benefits from hooking the same person. That would defeat the purpose of benefits to multihooking. You do not get benefits from just 1-2 hooks, that defeats the purpose of multihooking.
Everything you're saying will happen, is quite literally the complete opposite of the change I am suggesting, you're just arguing to argue.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3941247#Comment_3941247
Yes… people can not tunnel and people have not tunneled since forever, that doesn't change the point. That doesn't mean that multihooking isn't an objectively dumb thing to do. Because there is no benefit to it.
Leaving 4 survivors alive, unless you are quite literally downing people in 15 seconds of finding them (to which I'm sorry but you're playing bums), is not viable. It just isn't, you are actively performing a playstyle that is a detriment to you. That is simply the truth.
You are assuming two things.
1) That by giving Killers more tools, they would naturally stop tunneling/camping/whatever else.
2) That every Survivor team you play against is good.
Most players, on both sides, are quite average and are very beatable. Yes, even with less than "optimal" strategies.

Larger maps were an issue for killers that didn't have a form of mobility. If you hook a survivor and realize from BBQ that you have to spend the next 30ish seconds just walking to START the next chase, it feels pretty bad. That's why often times killers would decide early on to just completely ignore half the map. Not a problem for a killer with a teleport, or someone like Billy... but for someone like Artist or Trickster, spending a significant amount of time just crossing the map over and over sucks.
Read my comment above it where I first floated the idea.
I said that I needed to figure out how to give mobility to those Killers without it, because I viewed it as the main issue.
