A chain hunt does not stop the moment you hit a survivor where as a guard disappears the moment you hit a survivor.

Cool story bro.
Meh.
I've gone against some pretty good people but Knight excels at holding 3 gens and area denial.
-
I'm doing fine with him.
He's rather strong in today's meta.
-
I'm more disappointed that this didn't also fix the issues with his Guards in chase.
They seem to get stuck frequently now and they have difficulty pathing when a pallet is dropped.
-
Knight is a pretty unfun Killer to play against.
All these changes do is make him worse to play as. They're all horrible changes.
I think he's fine right now, barring bugs.

Really? Or its because you have no argument against what happened in the video? My facts are that video. 4 minutes and 5 gens. And if you check Ace´s gen at the beggining what super fast progress it had, which was obvious BnP than thats ok I guess. Yes. Definitely killers does not need slowdowns. :D
Yes, really.

If you do it in civil manners why not? Or there is a rule where you can´t say absolutely nothing about gameplay you saw in video?
It's a strict enough rule that I'd rather not risk it
-
If I got more BP for being camped or tunneled and didn't de-pip, it would help lessen the sting.
However, I do not think it would do anything to actually make people feel better about it. It's still a very strong strategy and while receiving BP and not de-piping is nice, if I'm getting tunneled or camped multiple games in a row; I'm just gonna find something better to play.
We should absolutely be looking to fix tunneling and camping. This means re-balancing the entire game and I just don't think BHVR wants to do that, even if it would be the better choice.

I know virtually nothing about any anime/manga, but from what little I do know, there probably are a lot of characters from them who would thrive in the Fog, now that I think about it! :)
Also, I just imagined Star Wars villains in Dead by Daylight. Probably not the most fitting, but I will admit, it's entertaining to think about Darth Vader choking people out in the trials. X3
Though the topic of Star Wars makes me think of General Grievous, which in turn makes me think of cyborg and robot killers in Dead by Daylight, which would be pretty sweet, I think. I can't think of any malicious AI characters from books or movies off the top of my head, but I know they're definitely out there. All my brain can come up with right now is the synths from Fallout 4, which that in itself could be terrifying. Just imagine having a bunch of "mannequins" standing around... and one of them turns out to be a humanoid weapon.
On the topic of the Fallout series, Vulpes Inculta or literally any other character from Caesar's Legion could be interesting! I feel like the Knight encapsulates the razing and pillaging aspects of Caesar's Legion pretty well, but I feel like a character like Vulpes Inculta could represent a killer who is part of a faction that actively brainwashes people, stripping them of any former identity to "recruit" them into their slave army. Not sure how that would translate as a killer power, if at all, but it would be a neat backstory to explore, at the very least.
I'd still like it to be horror-inspired at least.
I really don't think completely non-horror IPs fit in DBD at all.
-
I'm still vibing with Part 1 Dio

Second wind and Camaraderie are not good. It's always once in a blue moon you actually get use out of them
The amount of times I've seen camaraderie save someone's ass in comp is very high.
Second Wind is also pretty good, imo. I use it a lot.

Barely good perks. The only actually good perks are self aware and inner healing. Steve's perks are not that great.
The only good thing was the killer and only 2 survivor perks
Surge is good. Mindbreaker is good. Inner Strength is good, Fixated is eh.
Camaraderie is excellent. Second Wind is good. Babysitter and Better Together need a rework.

you realize that knight cannot down anyone currently with his power in isolation? Like physically those games being that long show radical problem with how bad knight's chase efficiency is in regards to winning. The killer should not take 30 minutes to win games because their power is so ineffective at downing survivors. Also he is not only killer to able to 3 gen. almost every killer can 3 gen and a lot of other killer are a lot stronger at it then he is at 3 gen. Also, not every 3 gen for survivor is auto-loss. a lot of maps, you can break a 3 gen depending the map and how close proximity the 3 gens are.

I wish people would stop calling stuff they dislike as unhealthy designs. not everything is black and white. there is grey zones. Unpopular opinion, but eruption is not that bad. not every map is badly design either. it depends the killer and what tools you have to work with to win the match.
Shattered Square is ######### design.
Garden of Joy is awful.
Eyrie is still pretty bad.
RPD is a crime against God.

I don't have a huge issue with Ormond.
I have massive issues with Dead Dawg being unplayable until you kick 6 walls.

There you can se how much is regression perk needed in tha games. This is how average high level game play looks like. And I experienced this mtaches many times. If I´m not meeting sandbaggers what are lowering their MMR on purpose.
I hate when people link videos and I'm not allowed to criticize the person playing in it.

Prior Rank Based matchmaking was visible and we saw what came of that. Players would make it to Rank 1 and grow big egos. Then you had those that intentionally kept low ranks to bully the casuals and make YT montages.
The current system does have some of the same aspects, but without visual confirmation it cuts back on the narcissism. Nobody takes a person saying "High MMR" seriously.
I don't see the current system as a competitive one. It's more of a way to separate new and experienced players. A true competitive system would punished the skilled, at least in this game. If you ever rushed to rank 1 after a reset (rank based) you should know what that entails.
It definitely does not cut back on the narcissism. Now, we can't even say definitively what skill bracket we even are.
The game uses a hidden number based off your previous performance to match you against players of a similar skill level. That's literally a competitive matchmaker.

Sounds like a personal issue, which is fine, I'm not faulting you on that. But my question centered on the "its hurting more than helping" aspect. Which to me is "not knowing is hurting the game than helping".
The game has every flaw of using a competitive matchmaker whilst providing none of the benefits.
No rankings, no Killer specific rankings and nothing to compare yourself to.
However, we do get sweaty games and a split between people who want to play competitively and people who don't.
-
Two things can be problematic at once.
Is map design bad? yes, astoundingly so.
Are certain perks also unhealthily designed? Also yes.
-
It's still a strong perk. Is it too strong? I don't think so.
I have ways to play around it now, ways to express my own skill.

I don't mind Lullaby that much, and it could be a decent idea for a sort of mini-rework where, when it breaks, you can't get stacks anymore, but the stacks you have stay (perhaps with the cap lowered by 1), so I don't think it's breaking enough to killswitch it.
But Sloppy should be gone by now. That thing is absolutely busted and getting exploited out the wazoo.
EDIT: Come to think of it, is the knight's grab-bug fixed yet?
It is not fixed.
I'm sort of torn on the bug and if I should use it or not. On the one hand, it's clearly unintentional and is very difficult to counter. On the other, hug tech. Also unintended and very difficult to counter but is apparently okay.
So, basically, I'm trying not to use it.

Mostly why I just stopped playing gens go by to fast, and every time I say something about gens going to fast or Dead hard I get these simps who are like nothing wrong with the game your just bad get gud. I'm so tired of arguing with these players who think dbd is this well balanced game, specially with dead hard. I can't stand the people who think there nothing wrong with dead hard. I literally put it on and it doubles my time in a chase. It practically started the chase all over again, but DBD is balanced right?
I would advise you to keep an open mind.
Do not dismiss people simply because you disagree, if they bother to put clear thought into their arguments, consider them. I don't often agree with people like @Blueberry, @Aven_Fallen or @StarLost but I'd be a fool to simply dismiss their oft well-crafted arguments simply because I don't share their view.
You've admitted you don't have too much time on Killer. Most, if not the vast majority, of my 5.5K hours have been spent on Killer. There's STILL things I need to improve on, still things I'm learning, there's still things I'm not able to do. Surely, it's not completely unreasonable that your perspective may not yet be wide enough to fully consider the scope of DBD's balance.
Killer is certainly a difficult role to get better at. It's...better and worse than when I first played. There are far less broken things in the game, but the average skill level has gone up massively in the 5 years since I was in your position as a new Killer.

I already replied to the perk question on page 2 of the thread, just scroll a little bit up:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3338525#Comment_3338525
Regarding the perks used by the survivors, it was all meta as I said before. A ton of Dead Hard users coupled with Adrenaline, also a couple of Sprint Burst users who 99%'d their perk just to abuse it midway through the chase to waste even more of my time. My hookcount remained low as you can imagine, infact most of my hooks were from camping during endgame and trading with survivors.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3338567#Comment_3338567
As I said before, that argument does not fly. Matchmaking/MMR is supposed to adapt to these things, yet it doesn't. The game is fundamentally broken in every way. And I'm pretty sure I know how to play killer after 2600 hours. How about you try to put yourself into my shoes?
Then I suppose it might be on you, unfortunately

I had a killer game today with Nemesis on disturbed ward. Took me 30 or 40 seconds to find my first survivor. Then I got in a chase with a David who held W well and looped a couple pallets and by the time I downed him 4 gens were done. 2 minutes and 54 seconds. 4 gens.
That's probably bad spawns more than anything. If all 4 Survivors spawn spread out, there's very little you can do
Imo, Survivors should always all spawn together.
-
Dead Dawg is Killer-sided but I still despise that ######### map. Perhaps the worst design in all of DBD. "Oh let's add 50 breakable walls to every structure that until they are broken, make it unplayable." "also, add a god loop in main but make the rest of the map completely dead because ######### em ig"

How so? Would you play differently knowing your mmr was 1400 vs 1900? If you could see it, would you ask others to provide it?
I have literally nothing to play for in a game that uses a competitive ranking system.
Yes, I'd play differently. Yes, I'd ask other people, I'd like to know how bad the matchmaker actually is.

Not seeing MMR is hurting more than helping at the moment.

Has anything come of it? Is there a lot of people reaching out and harassing you since this happened?
I had some spam on my twitch and I've had like two messages on Xbox
I think they were from the same person though, their manner of speaking was too similar.
-
@MeanieDeeny said:
That's so terrible! I feel like people on Twitch have a responsibility to be a good example to the community...most are not however. So i'll start by saying, you can tunnel anytime you like. I'm sure they were loaded w all the best perks, already brought you to their map of choice..sounds like they're just salty. It's weird that they were salty enough to go to such extremes though, very odd to me.
I agree with everyone saying you should report to Twitch, I do think they'll do something about it. Especially since they gave out all your info, I believe they have a rule against anything being said that can personally identify you.
Reading this part is totally optional, but in regards to your experience...some months back my boyfriend played with a ttv on Evil Dead who had THOUSANDS of followers. So you would think some maturity? My bf is very low key, but I do have a twitch for streaming and an IG account for my gaming..so i'm pretty easy to identify...which is fine.
So this streamer, with thousands of followers, loses his mind over whatever happened. Calls my boyfriend a bunch of things over headset and on stream..my bf tells him, sorry man I wasn't really using coms because my baby is sleeping.. (she was sleeping in bed w me and we were watching him play)..this man goes on about how our baby is neglected, and someone should contact child protective services and how he's sleeping with me...I mean insane stuff. Like you couldn't imagine. With thousands of viewers watching.
I did file a report with Twitch and they don't tell you what happened, but that video and every other video was gone the next day. So i'm assuming they took it seriously. For me, I was like whatever until he brought my baby into it...for you, I would be most upset with him giving out all your info..that's definitely a safety issue, and I think Twitch would take it seriously. Sorry you have to deal with this! Being a killer is rough.
I'm pretty good at keeping stuff hidden, so I'm not super worried about being personally I'D but my Xbox and DBD usernames are the same. Maybe I should change that.

Twitch should still be able to access evidence even without one. I reported someone on Twitch that was streaming themselves hacking in DbD. There was no VOD and they were still banned within a day
well, hopefully that's enough
-
Unlike at the very beginning of Role Incentives, I haven't seen any Survivor Incentives over 25% (for more than 1 game) in at least a month.
So, maybe?
-
@Veinslay said:
Eyrie of Crows isn't too bad now. Shattered Square is the new map offering I'm seeing every other game. You can see the killer a mile away to hold W and there's god pallets every 2 meters. Got sent there 3 times tonight and it pretty much made me quit the killer role permanently
I think it really depends on the RNG right now.
Sometimes it's very manageable. Other times tiles chain into each other extremely well. I also massively ######### up in the early game which led to me needing to tunnel at 2 gens.
-
@BasementDweller said:
If you have evidence of this I recommend sending it to twitch.
I did end up reporting their channel, but I can't find the vod anywhere
-
@KateMain86 said:
I always find it strange that a streamer would do things like this knowing they are live and everything they're accusing you of is a lie. I'd say if there is a vod of all this keep it as evidence in case they're somehow successful in getting you banned from any of those platforms. I doubt it'll happen but if something does it looks like a clear cut case to getting them banned.
I dunno man
Normally people getting upset doesn't really matter. They call me names, call me trash whatever ya know? But they were accusing me of some absolutely heinous things AND they were being a massive ######### hypocrite at the same time
All the while I couldn't do anything about it
Looks like they ended the stream and started up a new one, no VOD is saved yet so I might be out of luck
-
I only get upset with people who just slug me the entire match or for the full bleed-out timer.
I get it, if there aren't any hooks around what can you do. I just ask that if people are able to hook me, that they do so.

If you can’t get to a tile off those 3 seconds, that’s a you issue. Perk should be about providing a 2nd chance when you need it most, not free getaway on the spot that rapes you cause you picked someone up.
Interesting choice of words. And by interesting I mean bad.
The stun animation takes a full second, so you really get two seconds to run which is...pretty much useless against Killers with any mobility at all and still bad against M1 Killers.
