I See DH in ever single match on at least two survivors. It’s not useless, you’re probably like me and have a hard time using it. I SUCK with DH but it’s not because the perk is useless.
"DH is useless to a large portion of the Survivor playerbase"
I did NOT say the perk was useless. That was intentional.
-
DS is currently useless right now, so there's that.
DH is useless to a large portion of the Survivor playerbase, myself included.
Iron Will kinda got killed.
Eruption was an absolutely ridiculous perk and it was a lynch pin holding the gen kicking meta together. It's still a fine perk after it's nerf, especially if they take feedback from the PTB and buff it to be 10% of total progress.
-
Yes, it's pretty fun.
-
Oh, this thread, this one I like
-
Firstly, I'd just like to say that I understand and that I empathize. This game can be incredibly taxing on your mental health, I'm sure a lot of people here can relate to that, myself included.
Ultimately, BHVR has shown very little interest in even looking at post-game toxicity, let alone in-game toxicity. Unfortunately, I think that we're stuck with this sort of community dichotomy. Some really really wholesome people and a lot of really horrible people.
That being said, unfortunately, all you can do is take steps to protect yourself. I would advise quitting DBD if this sort of thing is consistent. You and your mental health should always come before a video game. I know that seems like you're being punished for someone else's actions and you are right. That's all you can do though, unfortunately.

Interesting post, really. i mean its a bit harsh to compare "need for food" with "need for win" but i get your point.
i know its within every human that we would like to win, to be the best. but then again it is a game and from what ive read in this very forum there are many players that usually have fun in dbd IF they win. the premise of a game should be entertainment. and i would just like to know why some players in dbd go for something like "fun is winning". and yes i also know that it is hard to write about it if you belong to the ones that play sweaty for every match because they need to win... but maybe there are some more people who would like to share their experience and/or emotions on this :)
I dunno.
I'm hyper competitive by nature, I have an extremely difficult time enjoying things when I can't compete and/or win.
For me, winning is expected in DBD. I've sunk enough time in that I expect to win most of my matches comfortably. I'm really having fun if I'm getting pushback from the Survivors.

I dont think its too strong in and of itself, I think that one less gen rushing perk would be a good thing as games are over way too quickly and since Prove Thyself is a major part of the current meta, it's the one to go. So not OP, but problematic nonetheless. Nuking it would shake the meta up and can help give back a bit of time to the killers, allowing more of them to be viable again. I own all 30 killers and 20 of them are just no fun to play as they simply require more time than you get in the current meta, making playing most killers just a garbage experience as you dont have time to get your killer going.
So, instead of focusing on something that actually CAN be problematic (Toolboxes, hyperfocus + stakeout, etc) you've decided to nerf a perk that saves 7 seconds.
-
I just like winning.
I enjoy trying my best and testing my skill against other players.

Get "Merciless Killer" in 5 matches using only 3 universal perks. It replaced "Adept Demogorgon" when the Stranger Things license was lost.
I see, thank you.

Ruin was also passive, required 0 effort from the killer to get it to work, was harder to succeed, and was constant as opposed to one and done. They’re hardly comparable.
The only thing you need to do to get Overcharge to work is kick a gen.
There isn't a cooldown and actually, I think Overcharge's skill check is harder than a Ruin check

Easy for survivor mains to say when the hardest nerfs they get are slight adjustments to DH and DS that don't even knock them out of the meta.
pov: dh and ds nerf denier

By that logic there shouldn't be any new content. The more content there is, the more you need to know and the more miserable newer players are. BHVR shouldn't actively try to make this game harder on beginners, I agree, but nerfing perks because they're particularly hard on newer players is not the way to go. Next thing, we'll have to nerf Huntress' Lullaby, all exhaustion perks, all aura perks, Brutal Strength, WoO.... Basically anything that isn't Shadowborn because less experienced players will have a harder time going against these perks than more experience players, who know how to play around them.
Part of the reason original Ruin was nerfed was because it unfairly punished newer players whilst not really slowing experienced players down at all.
This is literally the EXACT same thing that Overcharge does currently. Experienced players can hit the skill check somewhat consistently, while new players have zero hope of doing so. Add on the increased penalty for missed skill checks and you have an incredibly unfriendly perk.

No, you can't. Not with most killers. Out of 30 killers at least 20 are completely useless. Sure, there are some people who own exactly 1 videogame and they'll still do well because it is all they ever do but for us mere mortals, a bit of help would be nice. Sure, I can tank my MMR and get back to noobie territory and wreck havoc but tell me exactly why I, as a paying customer, have to accept that everything BHVR does boils down to nerfing the stuff that I like to play with. Because I have no reason to accept that and as such I dont accept it.
And furthermore, why aren't they dealing with actual problem perks like Prove Thyself and Dead Hard. If anything needs needs to be beaten into oblivion with the nerf stick then it would be those two. But do they actually do something with the endless complaints?
Nope, they went: "Yes, everyone and their mother is complaining about DH and the gen rush meta but you know what we should actually do? We need to boost survivors even more. We have given them base kits and HUD that in any other game would be considered straight up cheats but what is needed is that killers have even more pallets thrown at their faces despite every single god damn map in this game is absolutely littered with them. This will be very nice as survivors have already got map choice which we all perfectly well know they shouldnt have in any way, shape or form and now they will be able to essentially perma-stun a killer on it. No more being careful with using a pallet, you can just do it forever and ever and ever. No consequences at all. Yes this will make for great gameplay".
BHVR = Incompetence central.
It's extremely telling that you think PT is an issue.
-
Pretty sure Killer got buffed massively over the last year.
Didn't really impact my own kill rates much, but I hear other people were doing better in the easier Killer meta.

Mate, the whole game is punishing for newer players. That's how it works.
And I see zero reason to make their already miserable experience worse.
-
I'm fairly confident it's an original chapter.
If it's licensed, this is a vague ass hint.
I think we're still due for one more licensed Killer this year, so if this is original, I think that confirms Anniversary is licensed.

Against noob~medium level survivors. against survivors that know a bit what they're doing she's done for. I wish i could say something else, I have like 400 hours only on her.
Okay, so against the vast majority of the playerbase, Pig is fine?

I don't claim to be a god, but I did recently get the "Tools of The Trade" achievement in 5 matches, using Doctor with Sloppy, Whispers, and Distressing. No tunneling, and no gen slowdown. It was fun.
It CAN be done, but it's not "optimal" to some people.
What's that achievement for?
It's been a long time for me
-
I would like to see Overcharge's difficult skill check put on a cooldown. It's extremely punishing to newer players.
Other than that, I don't see any reason RIGHT NOW that these perks need changes.

Why should it be?

Since when does a killer know that the survivor in front of them has dead hard if it wasn't already successfully used against them once before.
That's one of the complaints that dh just like DS give through uncertainty alone a benefit for survivor as a whole.
Since I've been able to use my eyes.
The Nea making direct eye contact with me as she slams into walls probably has Dead Hard, I don't feel like that's very difficult to ascertain

Realistically, unless you're playing Nurse/Blight/Spirit, you will only win if the survivors aren't great, or they're screwed by awful map RNG. On a level playing field (all 5 players are equally skilled, the map is "fair" e.g. Coal Tower), no killer is gonna get more than a 2k except the top 3.
And how often are 5 perfectly matched players going to play together? Almost never.
Also, that's not even true. Take 5 300 hour players. The Killer plays facecamping Bubba with good perks, the Survivors lose EVERY time. Clearly, there's nuance here, it's not as black and white as you'd like

That is mostly because you havent played killer ever and are flat out lying. If you had ever played killer youd know exactly what OP is talking about.
In the current era of DBD, if you are a really good player, you can absolutely win most of your matches regardless of build. By playing good macro, applying pressure to the correct areas and not auto-piloting, you can succeed.
Before you accuse me of lying, please note that I said most, not all of your matches. Sometimes, RNG can screw you over. Other times, your opponents are better than you. Sometimes, they're running full meta. It happens, but that's not the norm.

It's not that accurate but it's accurate enough to make the game much sweaty compared to the old system.
At first, I would've agreed.
However, the current system seems to function identically to the RBMM. It's mostly a dice roll after a certain point. The only major difference is that new players are generally spared.
-
@Heytherebigguy said:

It's people with 200-500 hours on the game who still face survivors that panic vault on a jungle gym dropped pallet, everyone knows that against decent or even average survivors who just sit on gens and don't do meaningless stuff, it's very hard to win with them.
Even psuedo-comp players panic vault.
Also, everyone faces those sort of Survivors because the MMR system isn't that accurate lol
-
Games as fair as it's ever been, Survivors have been consistently nerfed since 2016.
There's still a couple issues to iron out, of course. However, DBD is FAR from the game it was when I started playing, it's much fairer and more rewarding of skill.
-
I don't really have an issue as M1 Killers. You've gotta play good macro and mean, but it's completely possible.
Likewise, Eruption just covered up issues that made M1 Killers weak whilst also enabling better Killers to be horrifically oppressive

Iron Will still provides near silence, just not as much especially when it can turn itself off. Spine Chill only lost its Resilience synergy. Self Care’s still good with Botany. Meanwhile, Ruin, Thana, and Eruption have been so heavily nerfed that’s there’s absolutely 0 reason to consider using them anymore when there’s dozens of other perks that do their job better.
"Self-Care good"

Dead Hard got buffed, not nerfed. For any decently good player, new DH is just straight up better than old dh.
You can go "but what if somebody is bad at the game and can't use it properly, that makes it not as good as it used to be", but by that logic Nurse is a weak killer because some people are bad at the game and cant land blinks properly.
😂😂😂😂😂 DH did not get buffed holy recency bias

Basically? Because BHVR wills it so.
They seem to be stuck in the early 2010's with the mindset of there being something worth retaining about the nastier sides of gaming/the internet. It's very odd, as - on the other hand - they spend a lot of energy trying to maintain an image as a hard-progressive company.
Nobody wants DbD to be Club Penguin. But I also personally don't want it to be CS:GO.

Eh...
I've been playing online since Quake 2.
About the only games more/as consistently toxic as DbD is would be pre-Tribunal League of Legends, CS:GO, some of the early MMOs, Smite, EVE Online, early XBL, the original DOTA map and a few others.
This is not company you want to be in.
Yes, there's always a bigger horse - but that's neither here nor there. It's mildly annoying how people always insist on turning this into a toxicity Olympics.

Eh, I’ve always found the toxicity of this community overstated, I’ve only ever experienced truly horrible stuff maybe twice( things like misogyny, racism, homophobia). This kind of behaviour sounds rampant in other gaming communities, my friend plays Valorant and it often sounds like a nightmare. I will say DBD might have the whiniest community though.
I've been apart of a lot of gaming communities since 2014.
DBD is by far the most toxic, perhaps only being challenged by old CoD.

Depends on which nerf.
Nerf so that it doesn't activate in the EndGame? Nope.
Nerf so that it's always active regardless of what you work on? Nope.
Nerf so that it can be popped whenever? Nope.
But if you mean reverting it to 5 seconds, sure, I'm all for that one. To be perfectly honest, it's not going to dissuade me from tunneling very much.

Dead Hard definitely hurts him a LOT. He'll still eventually win the battle of attrition, but it'll take a long time.

Knight is FAR from a "subpar killer". Everything you said in this post suggests you have no idea how to play him. Cant really blame you since no one would expect a killer like this to share similarities with Trapper and Hag.
Yeah, it's kinda weird.
Area denial, resource wittling and webbing aren't something you'd expect from Knight.
