I thought they only didn't move if a survivor was in the area. Did they change that?

yeah, not sure if it's bugged or if it was removed, but the killer can camp with no one in the area and the cage won't move

survivor literally controls the direction of the chase, only brutal zoning Blight or Kaneki can truly shift the chase direction r chase being at edge tile, which is still a 50/50 for killer to successfully redirect it, literally lol.

I thought this would become basic knowledge by now, but i guess it isn't.

And survivors can literally zone killer by forcing a down away from a very beneficial hook from the killer, another thing that should be the most basic knowledge, but looks like it isn't.

You think killers can't zone? Well, I have great news for you! You have a lot of room for improvement!

Also I like you think survivors can take away a camping killer in every situation. Sometimes, sure, but other times the killer isn't going to go far because they want the free hits from the one unhooking and then a few moments later the one who was unhooked.

Camping and tunneling are rampant in this game, we all know it.

Its not the perks that mekes me tryhard. Real problem for me is lobby stuck with meta addons especialy on survivor side. This forces me to tunnel becouse after 2 syrenges and one bnp 3 gens are done in no time and i with 3-4 hooks cant do anything else to gain preasure.

Which combination of red and purple add-ons are you bringing as killer? Because every killer is bringing in their best add-ons as well.

The point is that it is pointless. Just run commo tool box with built to last and street wise wise and watch the booboo ever complaints of gen rush or just run blast mine.

Killers whine about survivors are boring and only want to sit on gens yet everything we try to do from gens is qq nerf. I do see flashbang being used since nerfed maybe line 1 in out if like 20 games now.

Yeah, but then they'll nerf gen times and all tool boxes. Survivors aren't meant to have fun, only killers.

  • You hit the nail on the head, just stop playing. Enough survivors have gone this route and bhvr is starting to take notice.

It's not that killers are better at the game, it's that killers don't need to be better to win against the horrible players on survivor.

Fact is, most killers don't know how to loop or manage time efficiently either. But this game is killer sided when no one knows what they're doing, so...

Gotcha. Yeah, I agree with that. And I am totally aware of the "I escape almost every match" survivors who hide as soon as the first survivor is dead. Sure your mmr is "high" but your skill is most definitely not.

  • @buggybug said:

I bet this the reason I notice these killers have been brining pink moris 100x fold now and play as tunnel, campy till hook 2 cause they are mad now the last down person don't have to watch their stale mori.

That tracks. I saw someone complain elsewhere that they were upset that survivors were able to leave before the mori, and that's unfair. After people said who cares, they then called survivors sore losers because they don't want to watch the same cut scene AGAIN.

  • You can abdondon match if you're the last one. I don't think you can do much if it's a mid-game mori. But yea, you should be able to skip the cut scene like every other game out there.

62% doesn't seem too bad given the general skill of the survivor playerbase tbh

Fact is, if you have under 5k hours I automatically assume you don't know how to loop or do gens efficiently. And I'm usually right, judging by the survivors I face consistently.

Survivors are so unskilled that they need a minimum of 5k hours to loop or complete gens.... Yet killers can pick up the game and play like gods. Yeah, I think you are misunderstanding which role is unskilled here.

An impossible to miss ability that injures combined with the best mobility in the game is not healthy

This just confirms that the devs are killer mains and terrible ones at that.

  • This doesn't seem to bode well for the future of dbd

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

If people honestly care about console players and their struggles, then survivor 360s should be nerfed, because it’s not fair that survivors can spin around a killer faster than a controller player can spin their character.

They already did that years ago. It was most obvious when slugs could 360, and now you have to crawl in a circle.

  • Nurse with iridescent head. Not only can she blink but snipe you with insta down hatchets

  • Does this happen with other games? Just wondering if it's a dbd thing or a computer issue.

Recently I thought my GPU was dying, and then my CPU went belly up. Point being, it may look like one thing, but be something else.

  • Corn! But the more comments I read, the more I realize I hate more maps than that. Toba landing, nostromo, and is it the lich's map? That stupid indoor outdoor map. Okay, that one has to be the worst.

  • I mostly agree, but i do think mmr is a large part of this issue too. Once you cross over to the next level the people you face may be around your level or way above and then you're stuck there. They need to tighten up the levels. And if you are maxed out, sorry that all your games feel sweaty, how do you think everyone else feels playing against you? (Not you specifically meghead).

There are only 3 levels, right? Low, mid and high? There should at least be 4, ideally 5. Allow the noobs to play better people, but not fed to the sharks immediately.

If I am misunderstanding mmr in anyway, someone please correct me.

  • I agree with the gentleman. Balance is boring. What makes 2v8 so much fun? It's not balance, It's chaos.

Give us 1 hit downs for all, faster gen repairs, either UB or auto hooks, pallets galore or rebuildable, whatever. Just chaos all around. Busted 💩 for everyone. Survivors tbag repeatedly? Off to the cage for you. Killer wants to hump? Cage for you too! Whatever! Just bring back the fun!

  • Pretty sure it's not just one person doing it

  • I feel like upvotes should be first and down vote second. I have accidentally down voted comments 🫣

  • I love how these are "survivor buffs or qol changes" yet the only people I see happy about the changes are people who are extremely killer sided in their opinions.

Dude there is so much wrong with your response that is broken beyond repair. I honestly dont have any idea where you are even coming from with some of this and what i do understand i see as you being intentionally obtuse.

@Pit_Bull_Love You are making the very same mistake Firellius is. Slugging does NOT hard remove player agency from the survivors. You have to use the tools you have available to deal with it, yes, but that is the result of HAVING player agency not the lack of player agency. This is totally different from BHVR swooping in and bashing entire strategies to death to the point where you actually cant do them at all. Removal of player agency would be like killers asking for unbreakable to be removed from the game. Removing player agency means removing options. You still very much have options for dealing with slugging and no one, not even me would argue for their removal.

At the brass tacks, what you really want is for killers to be forced to deal with all the super OP second chances survivors get again, only without any of the tools with which to deal with them.

Why are you yelling at me? I was politely disagreeing with you, and you came in quite hot.

The only reason you aren't calling to remove unbreakable is because it's a very mid perk. You can get up once, but here's the thing, killers can slug you more than once. Boon unbreakable is very easily countered by killers, and can't be set up while slugged. Once those 2 options are gone survivor agency is gone.

It's not like camping the hook causes the entity to hold you in place for a minute at a time. Or tunneling someone sends you to a different realm. Killer agency is alive and well. If you want to camp, tunnel, and slug then do it. The option is still there.

Forcing survivors to stay in a match and crawl around on their belly because the Killer hasn't downed everyone yet is a bad move on BHVRs part.

The devs have given so much to killers that they think they are high mmr gods, and every survivor is low mmr. The game is about to crash hard because everyone is unhappy.

  • @Nomade said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3887197#Comment_3887197

Those arent really the changes that have killers upset. Its whats coming in phase 2.

Survivors have really powerful (some too powerful) tools and when you are facing half decent survivors, a killer MUST use some kind of strategy. In hook metas a lot of the time that is tunneling. There is not enough time in the match with how fast gens fly to 12 hook a whole team. You just cant.

Now hooks have become so weak, and survivors have so much obnoxious BS around being hooked and making hooking stupid hard or even impossible, that killers have started to slug. Every single time killers come up with a strategy that works survivors complain until it gets nerfed or hard removed.

Its this hard removal of player agency from the killer side that has me in particular so upset. Matches are dynamic and killers have to be able to react to what happens in a match but when you start taking away playstyles you are limiting killers to only be able to react to certain things. Meanwhile survivors have no such restrictions. Killer is supposed to be the power role but with all of these nerfs that have happened with things being straight up removed or hard capped, and the upcoming changes that will gut other effective playstyles killer is increasingly feeling less and less like the power role.

Removal of player agency will kill this game. Its a super bad thing and no one should be for it. The devs are about to make a massive mistake and start bleeding killer players which could begin a doom loop. If BhVR does go through with this and takes away player agency like they seem to plan on, I will not continue playing the game.

I was directly responding to someone else who was saying all or most of those points were survivor sided, which is objectively false. I can see the concern, but I have played long enough to know that killers have nothing to fear with any of these upcoming changes.

The issue I have with your argument is that it is one sided. Why is anything meta? Because it's strong and it's used to counter the other side's meta. OTR and DS are used to counter camping and more specally tunneling, which a killer can do with zero perks. And how do killers counter those perks? Slugging which also uses no perks. So now survivors have to run a boon and unbreakable. While killers are running either aura or gen regression perks, or a mix of both. How are survivors supposed to counter everything while half of your kit is free?

You go on to talk about player agency, but you do understand that slugging literally in every sense removes player agency from survivors, right?

Nothing has been taken away from killers. They can still tunnel, camp, and slug. Tunneling can have a down side if survivors are running certain perks, but that's it. Easy and free solution, don't tunnel. Gen regression takes 8 events, and with every kick killers get a 5% instant regression. Nothing was really taken away from killers. If a survivor sees that this match is going south and goes next, it's a bannable offense, unless you're slugged with everyone else...oh what fun. Nothing the killer does is bannable. Survivors are stuck in this boring loop of trying to gen rush before they get slugged. Please try to look at both sides and tell me who is losing agency in this game?

I feel the same as you, though. They have ruined survivor for me (killer for you). Every update makes survivor feel worse and worse.

Honestly, I know it initially sounds stupid, but they need to remove some of the balance. What made dbd and 2v8 fun? The choatic-ness of it all. Give everyone stupidly busted stuff and just let us have fun.

I fail to see anything being a nerf to survivors tho:
    1. surrender option, mainly a buff since you dont have to DC to play another game.
    2. gamma adjustments, people are already doing this on PC for ages, all this does is give it to console killers, who are arguably underperforming compared to pc killers in general anyway, so not really a nerf either way. Especially since survivors also get it, and a lot of killers that currently benefit from a map being dark (dredge especially), will be less effective. But again, survivors are found slightly easier too. Not a nerf or buff either way and if any noticable effect takes place, it would affect killers more negatively than survivors
    3. Go next implementation, will depend on what it will take into account. I think it will be pattern based rather than being based on individual matches. In fact, I think one of the most important factors will be purposely missing hook skillchecks as the first survivor to die, with 4-5 gens remaining and instantly joining another game. Where people who might be the first survivor to die by purposely missing hook skillchecks at 5 gens, but instead will close the game, wont be identified. The system would need some transparancy to players, so we can actively report it when the system is applied in cases where it shouldnt have been, but that's kinda the only questionable addition in the list that could actively negatively affect normal survivor players.
    4. Crows instantly revealing survivors might sound like a nerf, but is it really? There are already very easy ways to avoid crows in general. The only personal issue I have with the crow changes, is having to wait for 3 crows before losing collision instead of 2. Because its RARE for 2 crows to appear at any time. In fact, what I would add is make the survivor exposed and cagable (like in 2v8) at 3 crows instead, so that a killer can go there, down and instantly hook them without wasting time. But not a nerf.
    5. Map offerings, the only actual nerf, but one that has been needed since 2017. It's weird that 1 survivor offering can fully cancel 1 killer offering. I do still hope they would give killers a 50% chance instead of a 20% chance, and give the ability to stack to survivors, so that survivors would need at least 3 offerings to match the chances of the killer, but that's open for interpretation later down the line and probably would need a bit more work.
    6. Spawn rules changing are both a buff and a nerf. Its easier for survivors to remain undetected for longer, and due to other spawn rules they can accurately predict where the killer spawned and sit freely on a gen in that area, but Lethal Pursuer grants more value, and killers can predict where you and your teammates spawned, leading to more consistent early chases if survivors dont avoid being detected properly.

The rest of the points dont really matter, but I fail to see, other than map offerings, how any of this is a nerf for survivors by any means.

And I wont be needing to buy you a drink for part 1, because point 1 and 3 are HUGE benefits for survivor games in general. It's not a buff or nerf, but more consistently playing a 4v1 rather than having 35% of my games being a 3v1 is a win. The map offering one doesnt matter except for SWF, and SWF needs a nerf anyway.

I don't know how anyone can see these things as buff to survivors.

    1. Surrender is absolutely not a buff to survivors, if anything it's a neutral. It's a buff to killers though, as it encourages slugging. If you don't like being slugged, you can just surrender, because BHVR is actively encouraging this play style. Why would anyone DC when slugged? Survivors can't afford to take that many DC penalties, so you tab out of the game instead which will still happen with this.

    2. No one is complaining about gamma settings. This should have been in the game from day one.

    3. Let's be real, this is going to be coded like crap and people are going to be punished for playing the game. But this also do not address the issue...why are survivors going next. Sure some times they are just sore losers, but there are tons of legit reasons, but let's just bandaid the real issue. What if BHVR said they would ban killers for camping, but it's not camping if you are chasing another survivor near the hook. Would you trust them to code that correctly? Because I wouldn't. Tons of people are going to get punished unnecessarily.

    4. The crow changes are also a nerf. Whether or not it's a good nerf, or easy to counter, it's a nerf, or buff to killers. And you think killers should get aura and exposed, and that wouldn't be a nerf?? In what world? You know killers would just troll by blocking a survivor until they became exposed, and then slug them. And if another survivor blocked a teammate, the "victim" should be punished in your opinion?

    5. One survivor map offerings didn't/doesn't counter a killer offering. They are equal. Personally just delete map offerings if they are such a big deal. No, killers should not automatically get the map over survivors. Ya know... the only way to counter the killer is to give more power to swfs... just stop.

    6. Spawning together is also a nerf, that's why no survivor's run the shroud offering, because it's detrimental to your team.

Don't worry about the drink. I thought you were somewhat reasonable, but after this chat, I don't care to share a drink with you. You are very biased and it shows.

Well, because they have to. Slugging is boring. We know that, they know that. A give-up mechanic is just a quick patch job for the time being. With the release of the FNaF community, they HAVE to fix slugging if they want to maintain at least a decent portion of that player base. If they dont fix slugging, they will have a surge of maybe 5 million players, only to lose 4.95 million players because of how boring being slugged is.

The game isnt fun for new players. Which isnt too much of an issue right now because a lot of new players play because they have friends who play the game. But a surge like FNaF? You bet they need game health updates.

Thats why I am 100% certain that the updates will be to prevent players from being longer in queue than in game, and players to be playing the game actively more than being slugged. Not because I trust BHVR wanting to please current players, but because I trust the business side of BHVR knowing for a fact that retaining FNaF players is their top priority right now and their player base have been screaming that the game isnt as enjoyable as it used to be. And if current players arent happy about the state of the game, what will those 5 million new players think? Players who have bought every FNaF game just because they liked it, even though only 12% of people actually played all the games they bought? Those are 5 million players that might be willing to buy all FNaF related skins the moment they enjoy the game. So I'm betting 5 killer skins on release (the og 4 and springtrap), 3 rare survivor skins for the survivor on release, Feng with a cosplay outfit, Sable and Mikaela with an outfit (so that people will buy those chapters too) and Maybe Legion with some animatronic outfits (like they did for silent hill, but yknow).

Thats a HUGE money maker, and what do you think rakes in the cash more? People who love playing the game with slugging that isnt boring and not being tunnelled out at 5 gens, or people who play the game for maybe an hour to find out some lore, get the feeling of the mechanics and then leave to never return because they've been slugged for 4 minutes 5 games in a row?
I'm betting that the business side of BHVR knows how much money is at stake, hence the 3 week PTB delay to make sure there are some changes that current players can give feedback on to enjoy the game more, so that the business side of BHVR can be satisfied.

I completely agree with you. They should do these things for the health of the game, but I don't think it's what the devs will do. I have zero faith in the dev team at this point. Everything they have suggested in patch 1 is a nerf to survivors. By would part 2 be different? As long as they can make a few dollars off the game, they consider it a win.

So, does your lack of acknowledgement mean you won't buy me a drink? XD

Nope, maps will get a rework(I'm assuming green maps to basically be iri maps, and iri maps gaining the ability to see injured survivors and have a bigger range) and probably a range buff overal.

Keys will probably see blood amber nerfed in terms of aura distance(probably 24 meters instead of 32, but green keys buffed in aura duration and other addons being buffed aswell. I am expecting Gold Token to be buffed to 64 meters, Eroded Token to show yourself to other survivors in 64 meters and the duration addons to be doubled in power.
In fact, if they have ever listened to people like me, Purple keys will remain to be 5 seconds, Skeleton keys will be 10 seconds instead of 30 and green keys will be 30 seconds instead of 10.

I mean, I hope you're right, but I have lost all hope with BHVR.

anti-camp and anti-tunnel will be buffed. In fact, I am predicting a basekit 2 second DS as thats the only real deterrence for tunnelling, with DS adding 2 seconds to the stun. And Anti-Camp to be increased to 24 meters since killers like Bubba and Trickster can just sit on the edge of anti-camp and guarantee a kill

And what would make you think that? Their idea of anti-slug is for the survivor to give up. I do not believe for 2 seconds that they will buff anything on the survivor side, it's nothing but a middle finger to survivors. Very disheartening.

If I'm right, you buy me a drink, if you're right, drinks on me. Deal?

How about just open the hatch at that point? The killer can leave the slug at the chance that the slug might find the hatch, or close the hatch and possibly trigger Adrenaline. He could go hook that survivor at the risk that the other will find hatch. If someone finds the hatch and the other has a key, then there is a risk of a double hatch escape.

    Really a simple solution.

Except they are about to nerf keys and maps in the second half.

  • @Eleghost said:

This reads like the mentality of "they did it so i have to too!". Okay so just because someone gives up doesn't mean you have to as well. I've had plenty games of survivor where I have gotten out after someone gave up on first hook for whatever reason. Just play the game normally and you shouldn't get punished.

Because 1v3 is the beginning of the end. 1v2 is game over.

This whole patch is like sticking a piece of chewing gum in failing foundation. It won't stop the inevitable fail.

  • Why are killer so gloom and doom? Anti-slug...survivors can die sooner. Anti-3 gen... the gen has to be regressed 8x! Anti-face camp is just that. You can still camp, just not in their face. Anti-tunnel..can you count to 10? Awesome!

Let's be real anti-camp will be the same, just nerfed to 8 meters, and we'll just call it anti camp, because why not. And anti-tunnel will be nerfed to 5 seconds.

Killers, rest assured that these changes will be nothing but buffs to you.

But Isn't that a problem? If half the survivors are dead it means game over? If half the gens are done, it doesn't mean game over for the killer.

I agree it's a crappy way to play during an event, but frankly, I don't think that's actually the case that everyone thinks ONLY Killers are sweaty this event, and I strongly believe we have an upvote bot or vote-buffing issue on these forums - that is, people being banned, making new accounts, and then getting access back to old accounts and logging in to vote the posts up on their current one. Not even 30+ people are participating in this thread, so how are some people getting 30+ upvotes for posts that amount to "Killer/Survivor bad"?

It's pretty clear too that all the upvotes given are angry ones done to hyper-boost the more one-sided and angry responses. Because it surely IS NOT just Killers behaving this way - this is provable, and it can easily be proven by anyone going in with a mid to lower tier Killer and having to face Survivors that bring strong items every round in the mode who then do things like teabag at the gates while refusing to leave. It's really everyone behaving this way; pinning it on one side only is immature at worst and very woefully unbalanced of a take at best.

That, and you simply cannot and should not tell the quality of a post by its upvotes; I see plenty of people here very calmly and rationally pointing out that EVERYONE is being jerks in the event queue getting nothing or few upvotes, while many people who are being one-sided or us vs. them are getting lots of upvotes. The anger drowns out rational thought so no real discussion can occur outside of a popularity contest.

    This is how groupthink works.

Because many of us read and upvote comments, but don't want to be directly involved in the drama.

  • Omg, I had this one game where I ran the killer for like 2 minutes, and 3 gens popped. Killer downs me, and during his pick up animation my game dropped!! I'm not sure if everyone's game dropped or just mine, but oof!

Because filling lobbies with bots to ease queue times has been considered for the live game before. The idea has appeared in feedback surveys with regards to event queues like 2v8. So it’s not outside the realm of possibility that this is a test of the system for use in the future.

no they are not inverse. Like pulsar states, your always going to do better than average states like with his legion example. All i am saying is that you do not need accept the average statistics as only kill-rate. you can get better and outperform whatever the stats say.

tru3 states that dbd is in the most survivor sided state that it has ever been. He's been playing the game since beta dbd.

Did you seriously quote Tru3 and think that was some mic drop moment? Honestly, quoting him hurts your entire argument from the beginning of this thread.

Words of advice, watch another streamer. Any other streamer and you'll be a better person for it.

  • Yeah...bots suck. The deck is already stacked against solo queue, and now they want to add bots? Lol, next

  • Yeah, it's been while since we saw the percentages of solo and swfs. I'd be interested to see it as well, and I'm sure it's not just us too.

  • Not saying he'd be the weakest, but nemesis' add-ons are nothing special. He'd be near the bottom I'd assume
