You report them, you save their steam profile, then the devs e-mail you like "we're looking into this matter" and if you go to their steam profile thye usually have a "1 game ban on record, 0 days ago".
I report hackers and never get an email.

I successfully got 3 hackers banned, so I can't relate.
How do you know they got banned?

well maybe they need to actually enforce them?

Yup, they're removing all rules that go against cheaters and hackers.
They might even just increase their BP gain. 😋
What rules against cheaters and hackers? That's the problem, there aren't any and people are still doing it because the devs wont ban them.
-
Oh so I guess hacking is allowed then and no one cares? Nice..
-
Didn't they not end up doing this anyway, because some entitled streamer threatened suicide?
-
Maye. DBD has a HUGE problem with hackers and the devs won't do anything because they don't want to lose money.
-
It's a bad perk for bad players.

Interesting. Well, I still don't want something like that in DbD because of all the whining players complaining about others not following their made-up rules.
So what's to be done about bullies, griefers, and cheats? Because as it is now, nothing's being done and there's no way to avoid them. We're not even allowed to know who the killer is.

I keep reading that it doesn't work, although the threads are a few years old.
I still play L4D and I can tell you, it does. It literally tells you that you cannot join due to being blocked.

It's not getting removed, lol.
It needs to at least be reworked completely like Ruin did. Ruin's useless now so DS should be too.
-
@Orion said:

No, it doesn't. You can block someone on Steam, but that doesn't guarantee they won't show up in your games.
If you block someone on Steam, they can't join your match in L4D. I know this for a fact.
-
@TAG said:
What do "other games" do to make sure such a system isn't highly abused?
I think you guys are ignoring the point. There needs to be a way to block or at least avoid toxic griefers. Also reporting people in-game should actually do something.

@Orion said:
Which games do this where it works fine?
L4D

PGTW was always a very good perk, a lot of people just never gave it a chance until it was buffed.
I would argue that lowering the timer on DS is the wrong way to go about it. Doing so would make it way easier to intentionally chase someone off the hook and wait out the timer, whereas normally that's discouraged since waiting out the timer takes a long time and gives the others plenty of time to do generators.
DS is a toxic perk, remove it.

And in that time killers got nerfed and ruin got nerfed lol

To be fair, Wake Up was meta for a while.

Hmm interesting you respond to a thread about buffing survivor perks but any thread asking about killer perks, you ignore. I wonder why that is..

DS is a toxic perk and needs to go.

this seems like a git gud case

Imagine regarding this game like it's a war between political parties, and thinking the developers share that perspective. Man alive.
Hey that's how the devs treat us. Constant killer nerfs and only ever responding to complains from survivors.

@adalesmo said:
for a 4-man SWF, it's survivor-sided. If you play solo survivor, the game is 100% balanced pretty notably toward killer nowadays, especially with killers whose abilities are as busted as Oni, Deathslinger, Spirit, etc., whom seem to be intentionally created for the people who play killer who don't bother learning how to play killer, so they need killers who can't reasonably be countered.
And no, they should definitely not balance around it, as 4-man SWF is not even common.
How on Earth could you possibly think Oni, Deathslinger, and Spirit are "Busted"? Do they even have high killrates lol
-
@Yamaoka said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1319588#Comment_1319588
It's about the numbers. There are statistically BY FAR more solo players than 4-man-SWF teams. Games are (almost) always balanced around the majority of players.
The DBD devs revealed stats a while ago and if I remember correctly full 4 man teams were really rare.
That's why they can't balance around them. However they want to implement some mechanical early game change according to their latest stream which is going to give killers more time to build pressure.
It's so obvious the devs only care about making this game as easy and accessible to survivors as possible, while leaving killer in an unfun and unplayable state.
-
@Yamaoka said:
While it can be frustrating to play against a truly optimal SWAT-SWF-team the devs can not balance the game around them as killers would simply become too strong for solo survivors to handle. Besides SWF by itself may have an advantage over solo players but without optimal gameplay from their side they will typically lose to a good killer even WITH the benefit of communication.
But the devs are fine with SWF being too strong for killer?
-
Why is killers losing addons still a thing?

Yes it was.
It was no problem to pro survivors. They were just missing out on the great bonus.
But Ruin was way too oppressive to new and casual survivors, the very survivors a killer SHOULDN’T be experiencing problems against.
New Ruin is fair, and encourages active involvement in gen pressure to get its reward.
Hmm maybe those new players should "Gitgud" like you guys were just saying.

Self care isn’t broken.
Every time a survivor uses that perk, that’s a HUGE amount of time not spent on gens.
Ruin wasn't broken either.

Hey look I play A LOT of killer, but if you can’t see what was wrong with those killers and Ruin, and why those changes were fair and necessary, I can’t hope to continue a serious conversation with you.
Their only excuse for nerfing Ruin was that "Too many killers used it at high ranks" yet when asked about survivors all using Self-Care and Decisive Strike, they didn't care and left them broken. Don't act like the devs aren't survivor mains who balance around their own experience. They're not even GOOD at survivor, that's why killers always get nerfed so hard.

If you have problems dealing with Nurse you need to Gitgud ;^)

If you think that the recent map update was bad and that most maps are killer biased you clearly need to learn to loop and run the killer better, I think that breakable walls will probably be rolled out as the new map graphics get rolled out, these types of things cannot be rushed
I said the opposite bro, it's biased in favour of survivor. Basically all the game is.
Legion, Nurse, Spirit nerfs. All completely unnecessary. Also the Ruin nerf was one of the worst changes they've made in this broken game.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1314735#Comment_1314735
The devs said all the way back when revealing Chains of Hate that it would be a very gradual and careful rollout of where to place them in older maps.
My guess is that with the recent updates they want to monitor if the placement of doors near vaults, or the changing of certain vaults to doors is fair or too oppressive for survivors. If the data shows it’s too oppressive then breakable walls will be placed in those doorways. This is just my speculation though.
Meanwhile they're extremely quick to nerf killers and killer perks for no reason leading to completely imbalanced gameplay.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Umm... what are you talking about?!
there was a MASSIVE update to the Mac Millan, Cold Wind, Asarov, and Red Forest maps only just last patch.
They removed a HUGE amount of previously unbalanced vaults/windows, and made a lot of the central structures way less safe than before. Plus some larger maps have been slightly reduced in size.
So where are the breakable walls?
-
@[Deleted User] said:
It was inevitable that this Ruin change would filter out the killers that don’t truly know how to play this game from those that never needed Ruin to begin with.
The upside I see is that BHVR will work on further map balancing. And any new players we get won’t be tarnished with an unhealthy perception of old Ruin.
But won't this also be "unhealthy" for new killers, or is the enjoyment of new survivors the only thing that matters?
-

Ruin nerf has been a flop, will you guys revert the changes or buff it now that your concept for it has failed?

Tears of a bad killer
Anyone else notice all these brand new accounts being made after the Ruin nerf that post exclusively to defend it and insult killers? I could be wrong but do you think they could possibly be salty devs doing damage control?
-
New Ruin is absolutely useless. Like any Hex perk is gets cleansed too quick, but at least old Ruin slowed down the early game. New Ruin doesn't do anything until much later into the match and it'll never survivor that long. Of course none of the dev team will ever admit this or address everyone's complaints. They don't care, they're all brown rank survivor mains who balance the game for themselves and seem to hold nothing but contempt for killer players.
I don't even waste my time with killer anymore.

That's literally what happened to selfcare.
Self-care was insanely broken, you could fully heal yourself mid-chase because of how fast it was.

@Peanits said:
Depends on what the situation calls for. I'll usually match whatever the survivors are doing. If they want to rush the hook the second I leave, I'll tend to hang around expecting an unhook and make that altruism backfire, for example.
He said high rank killers.

In that very same Q&A, we also mentioned that we are looking into ways to address the more abusive side of Decisive Strike.
I'm not sure what you mean by that last part- of course if you total up the usage rate of two perks it'll be higher than a single perk.
Now that Ruin has been shown to be useless and does not fill the role you expected it to, do you guys plan on buffing killers to make up for the Ruin nerf, or will you revert the Ruin nerf?

Like most of the advice given by BHVR people here, this seems to be catered to very casual players.
Do any of these people on the forums stream? I'd love to watch them play.
"Survivors, we understand your frustrations and we will do whatever it takes to fix these issues you're having right away"
"Killers, git gud :)"
I hate that it's so rude, especially that passive aggressive smiley face Almo does whenever he insults killers. I've never seen a game where the devs displayed such disdain toward players.

See: Hex Ruin logic.
Stated reason: overuse in 80% of games with no skill.
-why not look into why it was used.
-what about other perks that take no skill.
Posted, quoted reason in changes: We found it too frustrating and unfun for newer survivors.
So I can see how people may not exactly trust when you guys say "oh were TOTALLY not biased" in any flippant, sarcastic, or disregarding manner. It definitely looked like ways to chase old players away while retaining newer ones.
Btw, I play both sides.
It's unbelievably frustrating how they still haven't addressed these question despite having been asked countless times since the nerf. It shows they know they're being biased and have no real good excuse but don't care. They will never respond sadly.

I don't think anyone is passionately against changing them, it's just fairly low priority since it wouldn't make a difference in the vast majority of matches and would take time away from other more pressing issues.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1025287#Comment_1025287
You got me, the jig is up. We all sat around the table and thought making Rancor work differently from other killer and survivor perks was the best way to intentionally chase killer players away from the game. That's definitely a way more logical explanation.
I mean that's literally how you handled Ruin so it's not that farfetched..
-
@Peanits said:
That's a very creative way to interpret it, but that was not what was said at all. We mentioned the usage rate in response to a question asking about survivor perks that shared the same usage rate (there are none, barring Self Care). We also mentioned looking into the more abusive side of Decisive Strike right after.
So what IS the reason for nerfing Ruin due to being used so much, while ignoring survivor perks that are just as over-used? Why do you all still ignore the REASON why so many killers use Ruin? Stop exclusively pandering and balancing for just one side, even the way you respond to killers on the forums is so rude compared to how more you care about survivor mains crying.

@Peanits said:
We mentioned this back when we updated the Nurse, but there's a good reason why we didn't go with any of those.
- Charge time: Increasing charge time would mess with the muscle memory that Nurse players have built up over the years. It also doesn't really change much.
- Increasing fatigue: This is something people have made clear that they don't like. The Legion's fatigue was increased to 4 seconds when they were updated. Even though you catch up faster than before given their increased movement speed, the feeling of being in fatigue for 4 seconds was not ideal.
- Reducing range: Similar to the first, it would mess with the muscle memory of the Nurse. It also wouldn't change a whole lot. Either the range is low enough that you have a hard time keeping up with the survivors, or it's not and nothing has changed. Either way, not ideal.
- Reduced movement speed while blinking: This would give the survivors a ton of time to react and avoid your blinks. Right now you might only have a split second to react, and increasing that window could make it almost impossible to actually get a hit.
I promise that it wasn't something that was taken lightly, we considered a whole bunch of options before settling on this. This way you maintain control and keep the same feel for your blinks, but you can't use them back to back if you missed. If you blink and miss, it gives the survivor a chance to break the line of sight. If you blink and hit, nothing has changed. Mistakes are a little more punishing, and the reward for blinking accurately is the same.
I like how you say "updated" instead of nerfed. As if to lazily hide your survivor bias.

You guys are acting like the infinite window is death to a killer winning the game. tlThere are always things you can do to stop the window loop. A trap, a hex, the clown throws a bottle, the window loop is useless if the killer is the nurse or the spirit. Plus a survivor can only go through it three times before the window is closed. And if the killer runs bamboozle the survivor can only go through it once. There are things you can do to stop the window loop. Okay so you close up that infinite window now the survivors have all of the jungle Gyms to utilize. Same scenario. Are we going to take out the jungle Gyms next? How about if we just take out all of the structures and have the survivors running through Forest and corn fields? Would that make it easier for you guys?
You guys are acting like Ruin is death to a survivor winning the game. There are always things you can do to stop Ruin ;^)

Gen rush bb killers on ps4 boring tbh, and u loop them for 4 minutes and you get face camper and tunneled off hook
THIS is the kind of person the devs listen to. People like this are why Ruin got nerfed.
-
The whole emblem system is terribly flawed, the amount of matches where I get 3 to 4 kills and still barely safety (sometimes even depip) is insane. Of course meanwhile it's extremely easy for survivors to get massive points and rank up.
-
@Peanits said:
It's a known issue (see the message pinned at the top of the page). We're looking into it.
Dead Hard hasn't worked since dedicated servers were added, can that be looked into too?

Pig is in the higher ranges for Killer performance. It's unlikely she need a buff. Having said that, there are a few odd things hanging around (like Ruleset #2) and we'd like to do an addon pass eventually.
