I just don’t buy the grindy argument. I’m level sixty and clearly going to be long done before the end of the timer. The challenges are just blood points.
How long do you spend on the game each day, be honest? My friends and I spend about 3 hours per day and we are around level 25 on the tome with all of the survivor challenges done on tomes 1 and 2, about 50% on tome 3. I don't know about their killer challenges but I have them mostly done on tome 1 and 2, Not started them on 3. What are we doing wrong?
The last rift pass we did all the tomes, all the challenges competed but only got to around level 60 of the rift with only a few days left to do the 10 last levels by playing the game, we couldnt do it.
-
Do yourself a favor, don't buy the rift pass until near the end and only if you have completed it without buying tiers. BHVR have been making the challenges more and more grindy with each tome to encourage people to buy tiers and/or catering to those players that spend 8+ hours on the game each day. Vote with your wallet or nothing will change.
-
11 months to buff the Plague, 2 years to buff the Clown. Don't get me wrong, it is great they have buffed the Clown but it shouldn't be taking this long to gather enough data for these kinds of buffs.
I would hope BHVR are aware that their update process for existing killers (not killers currently in PTB) needs looking at.

Had a game last night as killer and the game was almost over in 5 minutes. I killed 2 survivors but they managed to power up the gates anyway. Unfortunately for them they didnt cleanse a single totem and with NOED I killed the other 2. It is obvious what they did wrong, they only concentrated on the gens and saboing my hooks, no one cleansed totems but in chat I got blamed for winning, they said NOED was OP, I had no skill (even though I killed 2 before endgame) etc etc. Why do some survivors refuse to do anything but gens and then complain when that doesnt win them the game?

Yeah I agree, splitting things between battlepass makes it unfair on the people who cant afford to keep putting money into the game to get a complete set, but I do think that the split items are also just recolours if im not mistaken? So you could always try to mix and match, of course its harder to do with killer but what can you do :(.
Yeah, the Hag hat is a recolour, but it really should have been in the first Rift. I've noticed some of the most greedy behaviour coming out of BHVR with these Rifts. The first Rift was okay, it didn't feel grindy and the rewards were good. Second Rift was grindy but the rewards were good. Third Rift has a Hag hat that should have been in the first Rift, the rewards in general aren't that good and it will probably be as grindy, if not more grindy, than the second Rift to encourage you to purchase tiers.
I'm done with these Rifts and I won't be purchasing this one or any future Rifts until more effort is put into them and you can get 100% completion only doing the challenges.
-
The Spirit outfit it just okay, other than that it is a poor effort. I also don't like this trend of splitting cosmetics between different rifts like they have done here with the Hag. Rift outfits should be complete and not used to entice investment into another Rift.

It is a bit of luck and good planning. I did this with the doctor on lerys, the basement was in the library. What I did was hook the survivors twice wherever I could and on their last hook I took them to the basement. I think if you go too try hard and make it obvious, some survivors will ensure you never get it.
-
Nothing about survivors suiciding on the first hook if the game doesnt go their way? That is one of the biggest issues I've seen in the game lately.
-
They really do need to add Hellraiser., I think it could happen eventually.
-
Oh lol, now I like it.
-
I Iike your suggestion but not the part where it disables the EGC. The EGC should always be in play.
-
There are legit reasons to camp a hook, for example when all the other survivors are coming in for the save and give the killer no reason to leave the hook.
-
Why should the mori animation times be equal?
-
In wish they would do proper mocap mori animations like Friday 13th. Say what you like about that game, it did that type of thing to a much higher quality than DBD.
-
Otdz has said many times that the game is survivor sided. I can see why you have used one of his streams to bolster your point but you then go on to say killer takes no skill, which makes me wonder if you watch his streams at all.
-
Survivor: Iron Will and Spine Chill.
Killer: Whispers.
-
DBD mobile has so many problems, such as the "blood market", the connection problems and waiting times. I actually thought the killer swing was decent but my experience overall was so bad I uninstalled it.
-
The killer leaving is a minor inconvenience for me. If a survivor leaves though, then that is what I consider a really bad gameplay experience for me and for the other survivors that are left in the game. Unfortunately survivors can still leave the game early without penalty by klling themselves on the first hook, which I do see a lot of now.
My concern with this behaviour is what it does to the data that the dev's are reading, to see if the disconnection penalty is a success or not. Yes disconnections are probably going down by a lot but in its place seems to be another form of disconnection that will be hidden from the devs as an actual problem. Survivors killing themselves on the first hook is a major problem in my opinion.
-
Apart from giving all killers traversal and/or an ability to close the gap, how could they resolve the issue?
A killer with traversal and/or be able to rapidly close the gap (Hag, Huntress, Plague and Deathslinger) makes a huge difference and unfortunately no matter what the devs do for balance, these killers will always be better off. Make a change to the meta game with the slow killers in mind, that are forced into loops and you instantly buff the others. They would remain in the higher tiers, even more so and the game would be even more unbalanced.
How about a new status effect called "Fear" for Myers and Ghostface? Where if the survivor notices you stalking them they will move slower/unable sprint until you stop stalking. Just an idea for two killers at least, it is better than just highlighting the issue without a solution.
-
Repairing gens is the survivors job so blame the devs if you think they are able to do that too quickly.
This has been a problem for the longest time and the void that old Ruin filled hasn't been replaced with any noteworthy balancing to extend the game.
Toolboxes didn't get hit hard at all, they are more useful at endgame then they have ever been.
-
I think Myers is better for the reasons that have been mentioned here and you can pop his power instantly in a chase (if you have it charged 99%), no power up animation so he has more of a surprise factor with his instadown. Myer's addons are better than Oni imo.
-
I would dread to think how an event capitalizing on more players being at home due to the virus would be judged in the media. Did you see what they did to Hugh Jackman for leaving the tap on? Brutal.
-
Survivors don't need to disconnect in most cases, they can die on the first hook, go AFK or seek out the killer to die quickly. I've seen all three of these happen in my games. The DC penalty isnt solving anything on the survivor side.
-
Back to the Future isnt a horror, what makes you think it is just out of curiosity? It shares some common elements to Stranger Things like the comedy elements but that is as far as it goes.
Aside from Doc getting killed near the start of the first film, does the Back to the Future series even have a kill count or what could be seen as a serial killer? No.
-
Back to the Future isn't a horror movie though. You may as well be adding Ferris Bueller.
-
Survivors will be getting a tool box buff in less than 24 hours, and yeah it is a buff, just keep these new tool boxes until end game and that last gen will be gone in no time. Say goodbye to the 3 gen strat for killers.
-
He has to wait because the devs said it wouldn't be much fun if he could teleport to a gen as soon as the game starts. But that said, this issue applies to Hillbilly who can instantly start patrolling all the gens at silly speeds as soon as the game starts, so the devs rationale for making sure Freddy can't do a lesser version of that makes no sense to me.

They cannot and should never force anyone to stay in a game. People got their bans, be happy. Stop trying to force people to stay in games. Because if someone doesnt want to be in a game, they will not do anything. Just let them go ahead and die first hook.
How can the killer leave a game they don't want to be in, without penalty, if no one should ever be forced to stay in a game?
-
Most of my games last night were vs yellow rank killers, compared to our group all in red ranks. I think more than a few would have uninstalled the game and requested a refund.
To try and remedy the situation we took turns hosting the survivor lobby, we are from various parts of the world and it helped a little bit in that we got green rank killers. No purple or red rank killers at all.
-
I play most of the killers and wouldn't say I have a main but my favourites are Myers, Ghostface, Demo and Pig because I think the more stealthy killers are the most fun to go against as survivor. I haven't played Wraith enough but he is fun to play as.
-
Keys should open and close the hatch for one survivor only to escape.
-
The PTB toolbox changes are a straight up buff. And aside from the toolbox buffs, the game goes by too fast even without tool boxes.
-
Zashin Tactics is terrible.
DS wasnt nerfed, it was reworked and is actually better. Toolboxes arent nerfed in the PTB, they have been made more useful.

The killer has to endure the game?
Or you know, they can end it earlier by killing off the rest, closing hatch, boom EGC, next game.
And I could say to the survivor that sacrifices themself on the hook to just wait for the unhook, repair gens and open the gates, but that isn't reality. Some games you are just outmatched completely by a depip squad, especially with how bad matchmaking is now. Where it is obvious they will be dancing around you the whole game. Same goes for survivor, sometimes you get a bad team, camped, tunnelled etc or just outmatched due to the bad matchmaking, but survivors have an easy get out of jail free card by just giving up and moving onto the next game in no time at all. Killer has to endure the humiliation.
-
This rift will be the last one I buy, the first one was just okay but this one is more grindy.
-
The devs should allow the killer to open the exit gate at any point. As survivor, if you are having a bad game you can just sacrifice yourself on the hook which is essentially a disconnect but without the penalty, as killer you have to endure the game to the very end.
Either that or stop survivors killing themselves on the hook, make struggling automatic.
-
Killers are not entitled to a 4k and the last survivor isn't entitled to the hatch.
As for there being no counterplay, that is entirely down to your build, the items you carry and if you decide to camp the hatch or go help out the downed survivor, there is counterplay but maybe part of that counterplay isn't both of you escaping.

Because his power is very counterable by someone who has decent game knowledge. The only time he becomes a bit too much is when instasaw is involved. But, he's getting an add on update soon, so that should be resolved.
How much experienced players can counter a killer has never been a factor in balancing.
Hillbilly is from a different design era in the game and we will never see such a powerful killer released today because the devs have got better at identifying when a killer is too powerful.
-
How is Hillbilly not OP with a one hit down map traversal power with hardly any cool down? I see a lot of players claiming he is balanced because he has everything he needs to win a game, but no other killer has that so I don't see that as balanced if he is the only killer has has everything in a pool of killers that have limitations.
-
The killer is a clown so the outfit okay, clowns are supposed to be in funny outfits. Should other killers have funny outfits? I don't think the devs should go out if their way to make outfits for other killers that are silly but if it fits then yeah, it is okay. Take the Myers hospital outfit, it actually looks a bit silly but it fits in with some of the Halloween films so it is okay.

Decrease to gen speed isnt the answer, it is just more of what is boring for survivors. I think a nerf to tool boxes is needed though.
My solution: Give the survivors an optional secondary objective to compete for at the start of the game that decays over time, so it gives this second objective some urgency but it is also completely optional. Something like a special totem, or something that needs to be worked on, that once cleansed/opened/whatever, gives that survivor a double BP bonus token that they claim if they escape. Have the token transferable to another survivor if they get unhooked, so it can get passed around the team.
With this, they get an incentive not to jump straight onto a gen at the start (the token decays if it is not claimed within X number of minutes) and only 1 survivor gets it. It doesnt impact the main objective.
-
Killers didn't need old Ruin, the game did. The proof is in how the game plays now, it goes way too fast for low mobility killers.
-
Ruin needed to be changed and I like the new Ruin but there is no other way to say it, the game is simpler now and it is too easy to dominate early game.
Old Ruin was annoying to go against but it covered up a major flaw of the game in that games go by too fast if you don't give survivors a reason to NOT do gens as soon as they spawn in.
I think the answer isn't gen speed but giving survivors incentive to do something other than gens at the start of the game, give them another objective.
-
Great for survivor, dominating if you are in a good team with 2 or more tool boxes. For killer, it just highlights the need for "something" to slow the game down for slower killers.
-
Playing killer now is pretty bad. It is demoralising if you get an SWF without the old Ruin to keep them on their toes early game.
-
I agree that DS rework wasn't a nerf, it is actually way more useful now. The killer is damned if they tunnel me and damned later in the game if they didn't tunnel me the first time. The killer should be discouraged from tunnelling but they will have that discouragement hanging over them the whole game if everyone has DS and the killer has played by the perks rules.
-
Hillbilly is not balanced, he has a spammable one hit down map traversal power. Some people like to think Hillbilly is balanced because he has everything he needs to win the game, and he does but no other killer does at that level, so no, he isnt balanced at all.
Just look at the Oni compared to Hillbilly. The Oni is how the Hillbilly would have been designed had he been released recently, there is no way he would be as powerful as he is now and he is long overdue a rework.
-
Hag is in the top 5 killers for sure, I don't think anyone would disagree. Despite that I also think she is very well designed.
-
The game doesn't cause players constant stress and anger. Like most pvp games, players will be going through highs and lows and like any addiction it is hard to stop.
The general nature of any forum for any game is to post what you are not happy about, that is just a fact. So it may seem people are always unhappy with the game but what you are really seeing is a minority of players expressing dissatisfaction.

Voice comms is not cheating. "3rd party programs" means trainers, anything that will help you through changing scripts and values in the game files etc.
I always laugh when people say voice comms is cheating because it involves using a "3rd party program". If that is the case, is using steam voice chat cheating? Is using steam to launch the game cheating?
