Reminds me of "be the change you wish to see". Unfortunately no one in this world seems to actually live by these words especially not people playing a PVP game.
Tons of people live by those words, but pobody's nerfect.
-
Did you apply it directly to the forehead?
In all seriousness, maybe you did it just a little bit too soon. I experienced something similar with a flashlight, where I was pretty sure I'd be blinded, but the survivor did it a fraction of a second too early, so I was still locked in the pick-up animation.

Did you miss the part where OP hooked two other survivors? Is it really that hard to understand that maybe DS shouldn't have been active in that scenario?

My frames drop during bloodlust because I'm on console. If you're not a console player you won't understand.
Why wouldn't I understand? Do you think PC players don't experience framerate drops, ever?
Anyway, this is an issue for the devs to solve. Your solution, such as it is, is a band-aid.

Reports work. Don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise, it's like believing people who say you shouldn't report criminals (and thus should just let them keep breaking the law).
The reports have a character limit, but if you think it'd help, be sure to point out slangs and such.
Buona fortuna.
-
Keep in mind there are multiple categories, make sure you report on the right one to expedite matters.
-
No, you can't opt out of game mechanics nor will ever be able to, that's just silly. You could try finding out why your framerate drops so much, though.
-
In the score screen, if you hover over their names there's a thumbs up/down symbol. Click on that to report.

Tis a vicious cycle. But I seriously doubt all 4 survivors would do that. Or care, I know I rarely care if a Killer brought a mori.
You can break the cycle by simply choosing not to engage in that behavior.

Yeah I know, I know, these survivors didn't deserve it. But moris are a weird kind of therapy. It's kinda like letting your emotions out in a huge vent, except in video game form.
Then those 4 survivors do their best to annoy the next killer, who goes on to do the same to the next 4 survivors, and on and on.

If survivors clearly signal their unconditional surrender, I might farm with them if those particular individuals weren't toxic pieces of #########. It depends on my mood. Sometimes I just don't feel like farming and kill them all so we can move on to (hopefully) a better trial.

Same as I said above, adding an homosexual character is not that simple because of the lack of acceptance in many parts of the world, Its not as simple as saying "this character is gay", that could bring a lot of problems.
White people aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Black people aren't accepted in many parts of the world. East Asians aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Indians aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Latinos aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Atheists aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Christians aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Muslims aren't accepted in many parts of the world. Jehovah's Witnesses aren't accepted in many parts of the world.
_____ aren't accepted in many parts of the world.
Fill in the blank with any characteristic. Chances are, you'll get a correct statement. Should we make every game about transparent, shapeless, nameless blobs that just traverse a void?

Sexuality goes far beyond any simple backstory detail and you perfectly know it. I just hope that if they ever decide to add an LGBT character they know how to do it with maturity.
It really doesn't. You've just been duped into believing that thanks to identity politics played by bigots. Why is "Dwight's girlfriend was always supportive of him" a simple backstory detail and "Dwight's boyfriend was always supportive of him" a political statement?
-
@TheLastGreatStar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1332378#Comment_1332378
Somebody’s sexuality or race isn’t a political statement. It’s real life. The fact people focus so much on that part says more about them. In David’s backstory we learn that he is from Manchester. Why would it be an issue if in somebody else’s backstory we learn that their partner is of the same sex? It’s not forcing any agenda. That’s honestly just such a ridiculous thing to say. Gay people aren’t myths. They do exist. Why SHOULDN’T they be in video games?
And even if they didn't exist, games feature ######### that doesn't exist all the time. For example, an ancient evil being that kidnaps people and forces them to play a game of life and death for eternity while it slowly feeds on their souls. That example just popped right into my head, dunno which game that's from.

Eh, I am still not sure, again, that will be up to the devs and art team, sooner or later that kind of things becomes a political statement and I really dont want none of that in one of my favorite games.
The bigots want everything to be political precisely so you'll complain about the inclusion of "politics" when, in truth, it's just a character's backstory, no different from Kate playing guitar or Nea being a vandal. That way they have a thinly veiled excuse for bigotry.
-
@TheLastGreatStar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1332365#Comment_1332365
You’ve misunderstood what they were saying.
They want those cosmetics in the game because the bigots will get vocal about it on social media etc... people obviously won’t be banned for killing anybody wearing those cosmetics. What kind of logic is that? The thing with bigots is that they can’t resist letting other people know that they’re a bigot. So having cosmetics in the game that are showing support to BLM and the LGBT community would bring out people’s true colours. Which would lead to the bigoted players being exposed and therefore being banned from the game.
Bingo.
-
Regarding your second option, I'd rather we discussed options that don't reward people for disconnecting. For example:
- Make more offerings secret
- Have players use secret offerings all the time so these DCers get hit with a DC penalty so big, they'll either stop playing (meaning faster survivor queues) or suck it up and play against things they don't like, just like everyone else has to every now and then

You know what they say, small minds speak loudest. In truth, they're a tiny fraction of the population, which is why they have to appear bigger than they are. It's also why the silent majority of normal people can't tacitly approve their behavior through inaction. A clear message has to be sent: they're not welcome until they learn to respect others.

Yea and those people look bad because they're being told "we can't say anything further at this time" and are whining that that's not the answer they wanted or complaining because they have some stupid vendetta against BHVR.
While if BHVR says one thing to make people happy and then does something else (you know, if they're ACTUALLY dishonest) because they can't really do what they said, BHVR is the one that looks bad.
But sure, any one who says something negative is the same as just whining for the sake of whining.
I've been here long enough to know that's not the case. No matter what BHVR does, people will complain and say they're being dishonest, or that they're terrible devs, or that they're greedy, no matter how thin (or non-existent) the evidence is.
Too many updates? Complain that they can't play the game and have to wait a few minutes for the updates to download. Too few updates? Complain that bugs take too long to fix.
Say that they're working on thing A and taking approach X? Complain that the approach is bad and that they're stupid and/or greedy. Say they decided to switch to approach Y (as is normal in every single project ever made since the dawn of time, because sometimes you find that approach X is unworkable or that Y is better)? Accuse them of being liars and/or greedy (see this very thread) because approach X was what they originally said.
I didn't say anyone who said something negative was whining for the sake of whining. I'd ask that you refrain from putting words in my mouth in the future.

Saying one thing and doing another is lying. It's just cosmetics: it's not that big of an issue - but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
And if something is subject to change they shouldn't say anything. It's a mistake they've made multiple times because they're an indie dev team and it does tend to get people really riled up.
If they don't say anything, people complain that they're not answering their questions and accuse them of dishonesty just the same. No matter what the devs do, people will accuse them of being dishonest, almost like they're arguing in bad faith and just want to "prove" that the devs are dishonest out of sheer spite.

Idk, a little bit of common sense is al it needs to realise that a statement that was made 2 years ago might not completly be relevent now
Just to reiterate, someone took the time to completly calculate the ratio of free/paid cosmetics to compare to, once a again, a statement made 2 years ago only to find out that *gasp* after all that time the numbers aren't 100% accurate with that statement anymore to then proceed to make a post over how they and i quote "hardcore lied to us"
This feels like it could be space coconut's newest video with how far reaching it goes to bash the devs for no real reason
The devs said that killers weren't supposed to speak, but then we got Adiris, who's very chatty in the lobby! More lies and deception!
-
@Warcrafter4 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1332182#Comment_1332182
This also cuts both ways as people are going to hold the devs to what they have said in the past because they refuse to let us know what's actually going on currently.
So if we only have outdated information on the situation and the devs refuse to update the player base its on them for situations like this.
It really doesn't, no, because if the devs update people with something different (because they changed their minds, as is common in any project), they'll still be accused of "lying".
-
@TheRockstarKnight said:
Personally I don't mind the 10% difference at all. Heck, I wouldn't care if 50% or even 100% of all cosmetics were premium only. We're not entitled to free stuff.
What irks me is that they lied.
Like, it would have cost them nothing to either be honest and stick to what they said or just not tell us that only 20% of the outfits would be premium. The fact that they just went back on what they said because it was convenient upsets me.
It's just cosmetics right now, but still - lying is lying.
There's a big difference between "lied" and "changed their minds". According to @BBQnDemogorgon, the statement regarding the split was made two years ago. Are they not allowed to change their minds? They also had no plans for crossplay, if I'm not mistaken, but I don't hear anyone complaining that they "lied" about that.

If they are willing to make bots, they are probably capable of getting around a Twitch ban, but I agree we should at least try. I'm merely saying it may not help as much as we would like.
Of course they can get around bans. The goal is to make it not worth it for them. After the 100th new email address and setting up all the bots again, they'll probably get bored. It's like putting a lock on your door. Anyone can pick it, given enough time. The goal is to make it not worth the effort.

I suppose that is fair. I would just rather get rid of both now, but I suppose that may not be entirely possible.
Well, unfortunately, I doubt it was actually a ton of people. More than likely, it was a few people using bots. I agree though, they needed to be banned but if they are really determined, banning them may not help.
One problem at a time. I still have no idea what kind of extreme comments LGBT people are supposed to have made, but whatever.
Extremists are minorities, ironically enough. They have to use underhanded tactics like bots and false flags to pretend there are more of them and to make "the others" look bad, respectively. That said, banning them absolutely does help. In fact, it's been shown that banning extremists and their communities is the best way to push them so deep into the ass crack of the Internet that they never see the light of day again.

I just do not understand. How can you focus on one extreme and ignore another? But I suppose that isn't really the point.
I would like to make it extremely clear that I do not support those people at all, but the more focus you put on them, the more they will appear. They LOVE attention. Report them when you see them and move on.
Because only one extreme is actually harming people. The other is all bark, no bite. Dealing with the "annoying but not actively harming people" extreme can be postponed for now while we deal with the "annoying and actively harming people" extreme. I'm pragmatic that way, I prefer to deal with the fact that my food is burning before I replace a light bulb.
This thread was opened because the mods weren't doing their job and banning these people. I'd like to think most people already know you should report, ignore, and move on.

I have definitely had plenty of people who identify as LGBT say some pretty questionable things to me. I generally assume that they are extreme outliers in the community and do not represent the views of the whole, just as I assume that the racist and homophobic people are extreme outliers in ours.
The best thing we can do is give them zero attention. It is clearly what they crave.
When LGBT people start torturing, #########, and killing heterosexuals en masse for being heterosexual, I'll take those threats seriously. Until then, I'll focus on the racists and homophobes.
We've discussed why ignoring them doesn't work. Report, get them banned, get them out of here. Send a clear message: they're not welcome here.

Trying to solve politics you don't agree with by forcing more politics you do agree with NEVER. WORKS. Thats just an excuse for the people you deem toxic to act even more toxic because now they think you're afraid of them and they're getting the attention they're so desperate to acquire from you. Then it adds the problem of alienating people who specifically go to media (in this case the game) as a source of escapism from political discourse. Ignoring them isn't fun or easy, but it's more effective than anyone will give it credit for.
Also alt accounts exist so... banned forever doesn't last as long as you think it does.
I'm not trying to solve any politics, I just want all toxic players banned. The fact that many of them seem to have an issue with normal people is just a handy way of exposing them.
If you ignore them, they'll just keep spreading. The best way is to get them banned. If they want to buy the game multiple times and waste their money, that's fine by me. I'm betting the ban hammer costs less than the money they spend.
Also, everything is political because a certain group wants everything to be political, so they can then complain about "politics" they don't like (for example, treating human beings with decency regardless of skin tone, sex, or sexual orientation) being "shoved down [their] throats". Identity politics at its finest, where the mere mention of a character being LGBT is seen as a political statement as opposed to being no different from mentioning that Kate plays guitar.

Idc, its fine, it is what it is. Im not complaining. 🤷♂️
I have no idea who that woman is, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if you didn't actually hear it from her and instead heard it from someone who intentionally mischaracterized her PoV. Even if you had, do you think those "thousands of supporters" represent the literal billions of LGBT and minorities combined?
No dog whistles in movies and TV shows. You're reading too much into it, is all. I do know of a certain group that uses dog whistles, though. They're the people I mentioned before. They also like to use false flag attacks and other stuff. Basically any time you hear them say that the people they hate are using this or that underhanded tactic, you can be sure it's projection.

Fun fact: no they don't. The idea that LGBT people and minorities hate white cis males originated from white cis males you wouldn't want to associate with. What do you consider winning in chess to be? Notice how any answer other than checkmating the King just sounds silly.
Win conditions are core to pretty much every competition in existence, so it's important to not let something that critical get bogged down by opinion.
That's why farming Killers can come off as so jarring. They aren't playing to their win condition of Killing the Survivors and thus the entire dynamic of the game is lost.
Sandbagging Survivors can be similarly disruptive.
I get that the game has its win condition, but people can make their own. Against Kasparov, for example, I'd consider it a win if I made him stumble for even a fraction of a second (and not because of how stupid my moves had been).
-
@NuclearBurrito said:
Why is anyone here making anything up? There is an objective answer to this question.
If the chase ends with the Survivors successfully losing the Killer then the Survivor successfully won the chase. If they are downed then they lost the chase.
Won chases are explicitly tracked by the evader emblem and are worth double the chase points compared to a chase where you get hit.
Quote from the wiki:
"a Chase is considered ended and successful for the Survivor if the Killer is lost for 5 seconds"
Because the question is what we consider winning a chase, not what the game's definition is.

What like a list of demands? It's not my job to keep this game fun but it only makes sense that if you are putting forth effort to get back in the game that you earn bp, for instance, everytime you fill a recovery bar you earn 250 bp that about matches up to what much of all other actions game hand out. If your bar is full or not how about some crawling away from a hook bp to give new players incentive to be doing the smart thing? And in the off chance that you've fully depleted your bleed out timer how about some bp for sticking it out? By no means is this the remedy but maybe these snowball games are so droll because the players don't see the point.
No, a list of requests/suggestions.
