Definitely killer. I just find it way more engaging and i think all of the add-ons and perk pool is much more balanced and varied. I like that it's solo experience too, i always prefer to work on my own.
I am lucky so many people enjoy playing survivor because i really do not. I just feel like as survivor most of the time you are not doing anything. Just my opinion though.
-
I was thinking about this today. According to the wiki, blocked gens cannot change progress but it doesn't say anything about changing states (between not regressing and regressing) so i would assume that this is not a bug.
-
Dragon's Grip and Oppression have ridiculous cooldowns (both 80 seconds). Also i guess Furtive Chase but it might be too strong if it didn't have the limitation that it did, but the with the limitation it has the perk may as well not exist.
-
I honestly don't really know much metal music or bands but whenever there's a metal track in a video game ost (like legion's music) it's usually one of my favourites.
-
I want more good vibes too but when you do try to post such topics they either get ignored or some person comes with 4 paragraphs about why you shouldn't be enjoying the thing that you are. So it's best to just not post them. It's sad but that's just how the internet is i suppose.
-
I play dbd because i like horror, it's in fact what got me into horror. I was getting bored with Overwatch 1 and DBD seemed like a similar game and i really liked that killer was 1vs4, so i didn't have to rely on anyone else.
I find it fun because i like seeing how the perks interact with stuff and i love customising killer powers with add-ons. And the basic gameplay of chasing and hooking survivors is quite satisfying.
Seeing what new content comes out is also really exciting.
Also, i have a few friends online that i talk to and out common interest is DBD so that keeps me invested in the game.
Overall this game just seems like a good fit for me. I do have a lot of harsh criticisms i must admit, but, i think this game is really cool and i do appreciate that the devs released it.

Yes that never made sense to me. I understand that the copyright owners think people will want to play the best game out there with Demogorgon/Leatherface so they take the license away from DBD. But what does it matter what the perks are still called or look like when the character is still available to people who bought them? Franklin's Demise is a terribly named perk anyway as like many others, can be hard to remember as the name doesn't even hint at its purpse but the Stranger Things perk names seemed barely related to the license.
I still haven't got used to the new Stranger Things perk names. Prediction: Franklin's Demise will be renamed Soapy Hands.
"Franklin's Demise" is a reference to the original film. Franklin is a character in the original film, and later on in the film he goes out on to a cornfield with a flashlight and and gets chainsawed in the body, causing him to drop his flashlight. That's why it's named what it is in case you wanted to know.

It takes 32 seconds for 3 survivors to repair a gen with Prove Thyself, and it takes 42 seconds for survivors to repair a gen without Prove Thyself. That's not a huge difference.
Remember Prove Thyself only negates the inefficiency penalty, it's not a true bonus. It's still more efficient for survivors to split up on gens than to work on them together, even with Prove Thyself. The only time it comes in handy is in a 3 gen scenario.
I forgot the gens have 90 charges now. It was like 26 before. I still think it's pretty crazy though
-
Prove Thyself. If you find four people on a gen and then chase 1 person off it, the other 3 people can get the gen done in 20 seconds. That's crazy.
-
Yes. I would suggest they increase the cooldown from 30 to 90. This should keep the perk impactful but not overbearing in 3 gen situations.
-
Idk why people think nurse is getting nerfed even more. They had their chance to nerf her and all they did was push players to run the stronger gen perks and they gave her an add-on pass and even buffed most of them... the nurse nerf was completely meaningless. Yet when they changed deathslinger they nerfed him hard and have not gone back on it since and that was like 15 months ago.
Balancing devs are very confident in their decisions yet very disagreeable.
-
So, nurse wouldn't be able to blink through walls at all anymore? that seems a little too much. may as well just play wesker at that point.
-
I'll take 4 slowdown nurse over starstruck nurse on midwich. I will still die and cry but it won't be as upsetting
-
Jolt, Sloppy Butcher, Hex : Devour Hope, NOED, Unrelenting, Save The Best for Last, Knock Out, Franklin's Demise, Make Your Choice, Hex : Haunted Grounds, Rancor, Dragon's Grip, Coup De Grace, Starstruck, Hubris

Personal?
It's just my honest opinion and my amusement over the now side switched behaviour.
Back then we whined about the same thing and often got dismissive comments but now the shoe is on the other food, not for years but weeks to months and it has reach already peak levels from back then. Which shouldn't be surprising when the problems affect the bigger part of the playerbase (probably minus the pure swf player).
Also not necessarily the same people that have been dismissive back then and complain now, but there is a certain overlap here and there.
I mean maybe the complaint isn't about the players but rather the state of the game.
-
@burt0r said:
Damn i find the irony hilarious at this point. All these complaints about seeing the same killer perks again and again.
And the only thing i have to say is:
Welcome to how killer felt during the years 3-5, dh/ds/ub/BT/.... Any combination of those plus one extra, on 4 survivors, in the majority of games.
You don't need to take the complaint personally.
The developers are the ones who design the game in a way to the point where these types of perks are just so much more powerful. I don't think people should be blamed for picking up on something so clear and free.
But i don't think we should attack devs for this either. It is a game. Their game. We can try steer the direction of how we want the game with posts like these but it's up to the devs at the end of the day.

Not fixed yet. I even got the issue on Xbox One today, in a custom game with against bots.

I'd have to with Leprose Lichen for Demogorgon, the add-on reveals all survivors auras for 3 seconds after using and during using a portal. This is very good and it's spammable. You can also combine it with lethal pursuer to get 5 seconds each time. I think this one is the best because it's strong, consistent and has no downsides.
Pinky Finger and Judith's Tombstone are also very deadly but they come with huge downsides, which admittedly can be mitigated with additional perks or add-ons but the downsides are so big to the point where you have to commit to the playstyle and if survivors can outsmart you on that then they can win. That is very difficult though.
-
I agree but that's why i main killer instead. Survivor has always been uninteractive and humiliating experience for me.
-
I expect nothing substantial because of the holiday break.
I hope we get some perk balance updates to Dead Hard and Eruption. Maybe if those perks get nerfed perk variety might start looking up again.
-
Just 1 today. My last one was 3 months ago, though.
-
The game would just get boring with no loadout items. I think it would probably be killer sided because if survivors have no loadout that means they are completely predictable.
I think, at the end of the day, people will always complain about something. That's the point Otzdarva's video was trying to make.
-
Personally this is not how i would recommend people play live service games but suit yourself.

Another idea in which I never saw people talking about is having the 4 mascots. The idea of the of gang is tied to Legion using masks like the FNAF 4 bullies but personally I want to give the mascot skins to the 4 original killers like Trapper as Freddy, Wraith as bonnie, Nurse as Chica and Billy and Foxy. Heck u can throw in Golden Freddy and Marionette for Huntress and Doctor
I would like that but i honestly feel like it would be pushing fnaf too much. It's already a controversial topic and i think if they started making fnaf appear outside of the chapter contents people would start getting sick of it.
-
Another idea i really like that i saw someone post here on the forums is Molten Freddy for The Dredge. I think that would be perfect, i asked for that in the most recent player satisfaction survey.
edit : here it was
@MrCalac123 said:
Hello everyone, I know the sound of this alone may make your eyes roll, but after Baba Yaga for Huntress and the Doll skin for The Dredge, I genuinely do think they could pull a skin like this off wonderfully.
First off, let's take a look at Molten Freddy:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/N4S273VIAXAJ/image.png
The reason why this came to my mind as a concept is because of certain similarities, at least in terms of core design, between both The Dredge and Molten Freddy. Obviously I do not want Molten Freddy copied and pasted into Dead By Daylight, but rather as an interpretation of both The Dredge's design AND Molten Freddy's, possibly including other animatronic parts as well, such as Foxy's hook hand.
It would retain The Dredge's lower shadowy body, but the top and arms would consist of jumbled rusty wires laced with numerous Animatronic eyes of different colors, with a rusted/bloodied and broken Animatronic mask laced with 2 rows of metal teeth. From here on they can do as they please, such as add other parts from the series of Animatronics the games have used, or maybe even scrap this design all together and make an exclusively original version of Molten Freddy specifically made with love for DBD.
But the BIGGEST reason why I would even suggest this concept, is because Molten Freddy/Funtime Freddy has one of the, if not THE most recognizable voices in the series, and is imo the best one Scott ever came up with:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mE2jomkbfAM
The one line that has a German accent is from the Voice Actor's test samples he had saved to his phone, which he released in an interview along with several other samples, all of which have his standard and well known voice.
I hope at least some of you can envision what I am envisioning, with how Pinhead talks, imagining Molten Freddy Dredge leaping out of a locker, or hearing his echoing voice in the distance during Nightfall would genuinely be amazing.
I know it'd probably never happen, but the concept alone is just amazing to me, so I hope someone appreciates the concept as much as I do.
Thank you!

EU servers are busted. Every other match has extreme rubberbanding. So i guess they've disabled them until they fix it next week when they are back at work. Although i've noticed the penalties have been reduced for about a week and a half actually.
-
EU servers are partly busted.
Every other match has extreme rubberbanding and ping counts that should not be possible. Had a match where 2 of my team mates were 0-20 ping and thats extremely unlikely.
They are not in office til next week so i guess the game is unplayable until then.

Then people should not lie to themselves, its not playing to have fun
If winning is how the player has fun the statement is true though.
I do not believe that anyone truly has fun watching helplessly as survivors run in straight lines and drop pallets as gens get done, just for them to teabag at the exit gates.

@Rudjohns said:
If you are playing a game just to have fun, why getting a kill is so important then?
Because it's not fun to lose. Nobody plays killer to get humiliated.

@burt0r said:
It all boils down to a non existent matchmaking in this game since its release.
It would be way less of a problem if the people that want to win and equip the mentioned meta perks would only go against their own kind and chill people with off meta stuff would be matched with each other.
Of course there are always smurfer trying to circumvent the matchmaking to get matched with chill people while maintaining a hard "must win" mentality.
And the problem is of course also more complex than just a basic ass working matchmaking. It wouldn't magically solve all these problems but it would make them less harsh.
BUT we all know that DBD is way too diverse, in terms of perk-map-killer-"survivor lobby makeup" rng plus a playerbase that's too small for the mass of rng combinations, to facilitate a working matchmaking. So after seeing their attempt at a different form of matchmaking we can conclude that it's never going to happen, or at least not in the next roughly 5 years (if the game survives that long).
I mean i think it's both.
The balance gap between "objective" perks and non objective perks is way too big but also the skill range that the matchmaker allows is too wide and the soft cap is too low to have very even matches.
In a game like overwatch there is non meta characters that you can see in top 500 leaderboards but in dbd it's basically impossible to compete at the highest level with the average killer with no slowdowns

Thanks for that, I played a game with your suggestions and got closer to getting the five hits than ever before. So, thanks! Any counter for when survivors hop in a locker during feral frenzy?
You cannot hit them if they go in a locker sadly, but when it comes to normal gameplay you can still grab survivors in lockers in frenzy.

Use the add-ons Never Sleep Pills and Mural Sketch and then use a small map offering like midwich. Should be able to get it done with that build.

I think you're not understanding me. Platform means the device you play on. PC, Xbox, Playstation, and Switch are devices you play on. You can carry progress within platforms. Cross progression means carrying progress between platforms.
While Steam and Epic are competitors, they run on the same platform.
But you can't carry Steam progress over to Xbox because they're different platforms.
What Mooks is said is true - there is no cross progression on pc available with the windows store version.
The technical issue is a matter of transferring DLC purchases across different accounts.

The legion : Smiley face pin, BFFs
Rancor, Remember Me, No Way Out, NOED
Smiley face pin inflicts blindess on the obsession meaning they won't see your aura.
BFFs and NOED makes you move at 123% when the gens are done and No Way Out and Remember Me makes end game last as long as possible and ofc Rancor allows you to get a sweet mori.
I also like to run this build on The Dredge but i instead use Boat Key and Field Recorder add-ons. It's more effective that way but it's fun to use BFFs as legion.
-
I know a lot of killers will say tunnelling/camping's an effective strategy, but should it really be this effective for what it is?
No it shouldn't but it's just the way the game is. The developers could do something about it but they choose not to, there is ideas that would work but they just don't think it's worth it.
If you are a logical and rational gamer and you play this game enough it will likely make you miserable because the game is unhealthy and the community is toxic.
I still really love this game though but i do admit that the average quality of a match is #########.

That would not really help much to be honest... First of all you already know how far the nurse will blink based on the time she holds her blink and if her fist is clenched, then you can just flick at the last second same as slinger or huntress... To blink somewhere else... You might have enough time to run away from the spot if it is her first blink and it is fully charged... But it won't do anything against her second blink if she knows what she is doing... So it might even be a false friend in the sense that survivor might rely to much on the unsafe destination of her blink and not take into account that she can flick...
Most players just have no clue what to do about nurse, but don't even take the time to learn the stuff you could do or search for guides... I played nurse for a few months in the beginning of this, basically completely learning her from the start until somewhat okayish, that alone helped me a lot to understand what works against nurse... And like I said before, there are guides on what to do about her...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMlBH9t6ARw
This one for example... I find it very helpfull, and I really like going against nurse, because breaking line of sight and so on is really fun to me.
Nurse does have counterplay but it's far more complex and less effective than any other killer counterplay in the game. Does not make sense to me where there's a killer like dredge where all you have to do is lock the lockers at the right time and the effectiveness of his power is minimised and then there's nurse where you have to imagine the point of view of the player and predict what the nurse player is predicting about you. So it does not really surprise me when most players aren't interested in playing against something so demanding and unusual, winning at that point is just not worth the effort.
-
I think survivors should be able to see where the nurse is blinking, so reverse plaid flannel. Because the most common complaint about the nurse is that it feels like she has no counterplay.
-
average match with killers with no slowdown perks against survivors with exhaustion + prove thyself (4 gens done, 3 hooks)

thanks.
and, permit me the snark, so the S in SBMM stands for 'scumminess' not 'skill'? (I had hoped they had made changes that would encourage actually showing some proficiency with abilities...)
Pretty much.
Result based, or escape based matchmaking is more accurate because it's not factual that results in this game determines skill. and because it's the only variable used in this system it's hardly skill based at all.
-
Basically MMR is calculated in a 1v1 format, where the killer plays 4 1v1's with each survivor.
Killing the survivor is a win for the killer, and escaping is a lose for the killer. Hatch counts as a null, as they don't consider it to be a skillful way of escape.
So if a killer kills one survivor but then the other 3 survivors escape, that's a net loss for the killer because they lost 3/4 of their 1v1's.
The amount that MMR is adjusted for each player depends on the difference of their MMR at the start of the match, so if you beat someone higher or lower than you than your MMR will adjust more or less accordingly
Recently they made a change where your survivor mmr adjusts differently depending on how many teammates escaped, so if you escape alone compared to escaping with 4 people you'll get a bigger increase, and if you die alone then your mmr will decrease less than if your entire team died. This change was added into 6.4.0 and they also made a change to where if you took an extended break your mmr will adjust quicker for the first few matches you will play.

I miss when you didn't have to run any slowdown, or just 1 slowdown perk like Pop, and get to be creative with builds. Now every Killer is running some kind of combination of CoB, Pain Res, Deadlock, and Jolt.
When was that?
Killer has never been stronger currently. Perhaps the difference here is rank based matchmaking vs skill based matchmaking?
