  • Same im hoping dbd gets better, the last quarter of last year i feel like was pretty rough, the gutting of skull merchant and chucky have made me quite bitter towards the killer balance in the game. Houndmaster launch was also rough and feels quite overtuned yet still buggy at this point. Also not enjoying chaos shuffle, bringing it back for the 3rd time with no changes is sour. Just not feeling the respect from the developers right now that i was feeling in the middle of last year.

their update are mostly always released on the day of the release. sometimes it is 1 day before. i do not think much will change from PTB. My wish list for freddy is that he does not get punished for putting survivor in dying state where you magically wake up from dream world. Maybe they'll slightly improve him, maybe not.

They've never released a developer update the same day as the patch. Patch notes and developer update are different to be clear. In my years of playing never seen it 1 day before either, only 2/3 days before with the houndmaster release. They typically don't release anything on fridays or mondays and since the update is on a tuesday it seems unlikely there is going to be a dev update at this point.

dev post said jan 28. maybe few people didn't read the fine print.

That's not what i mean i know the update is on jan 28th im talking about ptb to live changes and if there isnt a dev update they probably dont have a lot to talk about.

  • I guess it's not happening. Probably not a lot of changes then.

i think it's range is too low for its commitment. i'd maybe add like 1.5 extra pillars. maybe like 10-10.5 meter range. I am not sure how much each pillar scales the range on it.

the punishment for missing is fairely severe so i think it deserves a little bit of potency buff.

Idk, thats a pretty sizable buff. It'd make him even better than pyramid head and i think he already is. It'd allow you to pressure a survivor trying to vault or pallet drop from even further away. I think if they are at this range you are expected to use wolf form pounce instead.

Personally i find the penalty for missing hellfire is manageable. There's times where you can just hold it out without casting it and then un charge it and just m1 them. I feel that missing pyramid heads attack is also more penalising.

I just think Dracula outclasses so many killers right now, i'd be surprised if he was to receive any buffs. I am hoping what happens is other killers get brought up to compete with him rather than him getting nerfed though.

he doesn't need buff as a whole but his hellfire could be slightly improved.

How so? I don't think it should be casted faster as the OP suggests, 0.9 second charge time is what it is currently with a range of 8 meters, that's pretty powerful already in my opinion,

  • Dracula definitely doesn't need to be buffed, he's easily one of the best killers right now.

  • Hopefully when fov slider comes out of beta this will be fixed

  • This needs to be fixed. Its got me worried if the fnaf killer has a killer prop like this 😭

  • Pyramid Head for sure. Trickster 2nd and then Chucky he only has like 5 usable add-ons and even then they are minor boosts in power.

  • @Ayodam said:

Chucky got a raw deal with his balance changes although he was also too strong before it. The other killers you’ve mentioned are quite oppressive as well but I think they’re left alone because BHVR likes to tier its killers. You can’t have too many high-tier killers though, you need some that are moderate or low—even though all of them have kill/win rates above average. Doesn’t explain why Chucky specifically dropped so low but I think that’s kinda how BHVR tries to balance and rebalance its killers.

I don't like it if so. It just means experienced players don't have a lot of choice of what killers to play. It highly encourages one tricking killers which i think is bad for the game

  • Depips were removed a little while ago it's intended

  • Chucky is not a tryhard killer anymore, he is extremely outclassed.

  • image.png

    Got mine 😄

I was expecting chucky and sable to be my most played but i guess i played these characters a lot earlier in the year.

My escape rate is pretty low at 34% 😩 As killer though i am averaging 8.2 hooks a game (i have to wonder if this includes hook stages though)

My playtime split seems to be around 74/26 for killer and survivor respectively.

Hope my escape rate can be better next year lol

  • I think so yeah. You can still get hits with slice and dice but the slower speed means you have to be much closer before you launch it. This is difficult when the mode is still 14 seconds, and he still has a weakness of low speed meaning survivors holding w and using exhaustion perks is terribly effective. And even when you get hits you suffer from a really long cooldown of 14 seconds, and even worse if you miss you also have the same really long cooldown. His best add-ons are only minor boosts in power, although the amulet has become a lot more valuable.

Nightlight stats also support this as he has around 50% kill rate on there right now which is the lowest and his pick rate has also dropped by 50%.

He is just completely outclassed, even killers that aren't primarily chase have better chase powers than Chucky.

I find it really sad and it took me a few weeks after the changes before i gave up and agreed with the rest of the community. But yeah, he's basically lost everything.

  • Anyone else not receive theres yet? Despite enabling personalised emails

  • Chucky. Cause they've nerfed him to the ground they clearly hate his entire power so they need to make a new one for him.

  • The audio and angles it can sometimes blind you at are kind of insane. I think it needs to be technically reviewed.

  • Trapper is cool but terrible. Would love to play pig more but she feels pretty helpless.

I wish pyramid head was also a bit better especially when it comes to add-ons.

Most painfully of all for is Chucky, he's been nerfed far too much. I used to main him but recently dropped him.

  • Hellfire cant go through walls like POTD can.

Wolf Form is less than half the distance you can make with Virulent Bound.

All forms including bat form have a 1 second cooldown after shapeshifting and bat form is also much noisier for the killer than spirit.

In any case i think the imbalance comes from older killers being too weak in comparison. Newer killers are just stronger as they should be.

  • Idk, it already got a huge nerf recently where they removed it working if you are hooked when the gates are powered and the boost is only 3 seconds now from 5. I don't think it should really be nerfed more than that.

  • @Langweilig said:

They should bring back a slower manual scamper, which takes 1.7-1.9 seconds and leave the slice and dice scamper as is. That way manual scamper is a lot slower than it was, which gives survivors more than enough time. That’s the main thing I want since it got removed, because he feels so spammy without scamper. There was 0 decision making after the removal, just slice and dice, hit, wait, slice and dice, repeat.

I do think scamper should come back in some form because it does make him more unique and interesting.

At this point they've just taken away everything. I think he needs a rework

  • @FMG15 said:

He's still strong what are you on about? Just played a game with him yesterday and without gen perks I 4k'd no problem. I can still use his slice and dice and with his tiny body I can get a lot of downs thanks to the ability to mindgame.

He suffers on big maps like ormond but aside from that he's still b tier in my opinion

No he isn't strong. He's a 4.4m/s killer with a short range chase power on a lengthy cooldown. He is currently outclassed by so many killers.

Experienced survivors will just hold W against chucky if he tries to mindgame, as well as camp pallets, there's nothing you can really do about this.

  • Something to point out is, comparing Chucky from 8.3.2 to 8.4.1…

    - 40% longer cooldown
    - 20% slower dash speed
    - 50% weaker Rat poison
    - Scamper time reduced from 1.3 seconds to 1 second.

  • @fussy said:

Also fun thing: I play a lot of Pig with dash addons now, and she is 10 times better in absolutely every aspect: with dash addons her dash is AT LEAST at the same strength as current Chucky, I would say even slightly stronger; she is 4,6; her stealth is more flexible; she even has good slowdown.

And imagine how bad currently Chucky is, if Pig is just very average killer.

Interesting. Personally i've started to play more Clown. He kinda has the same concept of forcing hits at loops with speed differences and doesn't have the downside of cooldowns or being 4.4m/s

  • DBD Forums, i admit it. Chucky has been nerfed too much.

    @OrangeBear said:

    1. The Biggest problem chucky currently has is the 14 second cooldown, the cooldown currently hard limits chucky's maximum effectiveness. Even the best case scenario of a 28 second chase time is relatively not impressive, ideal or enough against some teams. Similar chase killers have much shorter cooldowns and far stronger cooldown add-ons.
    2. Slice and dice is just not as flexible as it used to be. After some practise i am still able to get similar hits at loops i was before, however, the slower speed means you cant slice and dice as early as you used to be able to, resulting in longer chase times in addition to the already longer chase times from the cooldown.
    3. This change to slice and dice has made the duration of Hidey Ho feel too short. Since you need to get closer to the survivor before launching your attack.
    4. Chucky is very vulnerable to pre-running and exhaustion perks. Chucky has always never had good map mobility, but it's even worse now because slice and dice is slower. He is also very vulnerable to the use of Lithe, Overcome and Dead Hard since slice and dice makes it easy to time the activation.
    5. He also has a pretty limited pool of perk and add-on choices. Being 4.4m/s and M2 and having no map mobility i find limits his perk choice quite a lot. He also only has a handful of add-ons that are even worth considering, and even then they are only minor boosts to his power.
    6. Scamper is still not practical to use. Even with the reduction of time it takes to scamper, it's use case and counterplay of moving to a "blind spot" remains the same. It is not a reliable chase tool and certainly does not compensate at all for the other nerfs.

Overall Chucky is in a state where he does not stack up to similar options. According to community collected stats his pick rate and kill rate have also dropped dramatically, being the worst they've been. This makes sense, because even launch chucky was better than current chucky, as he had a faster slice and dice and scamper that allowed him to counter god pallets.

As a short term solution i suggest decreasing the cooldown to 10 seconds from 14 seconds, as well as increasing the duration of hidey ho mode from 14 seconds to 16 seconds.

As a long term solution i believe Chucky needs an
Update, that re-introduces manual scamper as well as an add-on pass. As well as some tweaks to Slice and Dice.

I main Chucky since release and unfortunately it's gotten to the point where he no longer feels as worthwhile to play, which is saddening.

Just use alarm clocks before healing

They have cooldown, teleport on healing is simply asking for full slugging approach and hit&run tactic. That is way less popular than some hindered…

Oh it's absolutely better than clown bottle.

They are slightly different in how you use them, I wouldn't say snare is strictly better.

They might increase cooldown a bit to like 6-7 seconds for snare...

alarm clock cooldown is 45 seconds and the immunity is 30 i dont see how waking up will be an issue.

The way i see it people hated skull merchant for easy hinder at loops and i think freddy can do it even better. On top of that dream projection is incredible map mobility.

I just think freddy dream snares are so easy and spammable that it's not comparable to clown.

Def needs at least a few seconds longer cooldown

  • @PetTheDoggo said:

I mean, snare is not better than Clown's bottle… You can also dodge it easier than clown bottle imo.

I am more worried about teleport to healing survivors.

Oh it's absolutely better than clown bottle. Clown bottle doesn't go through walls, dream snare is faster, isn't ammo limited.

Just use alarm clocks before healing 🤷

  • Needs more than that in my opinion. Perhaps an entirely different additional effect.

I've been thinking maybe it should reduce successful attack cooldown, this would be really effective in endgame especially. Although considering they obliterated houndmaster's knotted rope add-on i doubt they are gonna do this.

  • image.png

I don't think this is going to change. They technically fulfilled the promise of cross progression for switch but it just has limitations.

Fortnite has similar limitation when it comes to shared currency, so i suspect nintendo is not going to budge for anyone.

  • Yes i am predicting a dev update this week because the roadmap says January, PTBs last 3 weeks usually, so i think it has to be next week. The current rift also ends in 20 something days and they start after the previous one ends now.

  • I agree i hope that in future years they do more with events but are starting off somewhat small for now. Perhaps entirely different event game modes would be nice and then just add all of the BP celebrations in the normal queue.

    The game is for children.

Okay, so now the choices are that he's either woefully incompetent and somehow missed MASSIVE red flags in the people he was donating his money to (unlikely) or he just didn't care (possible). You can't claim ignorance in this day and in age and certainly not about the people he supported.

More likely, he's only sorry he got caught, which to be fair, is most people.

Your argument here is that…. there's others worse so it's okay? BHVR can't stop children, no, but they can also not directly market towards them either by bringing in a game that is almost exclusively marketed towards people 13 and under. The game isn't even F2P either, every Killer costs money and kids are gonna buy them. It's extremely predatory, imo.

He was not sorry at all, he made a reddit post explaining his decisions at the time of the controversy

  • If it's one of the last three gens and it's almost done i would be there to contest it, especially interrupting the survivor on it as you can usually hit the survivor after they drop as they would be forced to medium vault if they try to use this loop. Also only 1 side is available to be repaired on this gen which helps, these are the kind of gens i'd prefer to repair first

Where did you hear about this rumor. I’m watching a tatariu video and he said that he heard a rumour about myers too. But I never heard of any. Also I hope if they do rework him that they make tier 1 accessible again and better. For it can be a deliberate choice in being in tier 1 for that undetectable.

i haven't seen anything suggest that he is getting a rework. if anything, these changes…. are the rework. my problem with myer's especially in regard to his m1 gameplay is that he doesn't get enough chase capacity in tier 3 to be effective killer. his tombstone pieces make his tiering system rewarding but in practice, the killer should have be playable as m1 killer without needing mori's to gain reward from the power.

1st heard that SpookyLoopz said that there's a rumour of him being reworked later and then 2nd heard hens say it. Idk where it originates from

  • Honestly yeah the tweaks were good at making him a bit smoother to play, but he still has no real chase tools. It often just feels like you are following survivors around for them to drop pallets instead of chasing them.

I imagine he is pretty good for beginners but he's not very engaging for me who has thousands of hours.

Also the frustrations with tombstone add-ons were not really addressed at all. The ultra rares probably take too long now, and tombstone piece seems to be better than before because it requires proportionately less evil.

Overall… hopefully the rumours about him getting a rework further down the line are true. Well, i dont think he needs a complete overhaul or anything but he needs additional tools i think

  • Killer :

It feels like survivors still have a lot of nuclear options. Things that survivors have that are easy to use, have a high reward, and are hard to go against for the killer.

Exhaustion perks like Lithe, Overcome and Balanced Landing can buy survivors a lot of distance that wastes the killers time especially if they don't have a mobility power, and the survivor can just simply run in the opposite direction of where the gens are being done and the killer has to spend all that time walking back to those gens, which they may not be able to stop because of…

Commodious Toolboxes, Brand New Parts, Deja Vu and Resilience. These are all things that increase repair speed which reduce the opportunity the killer has to regress them and stop them from being completed. They are simply anti-game, and they force killers to tunnel and camp.

Map Offerings are also a major annoyance, they are survivor sided because 1 survivor out of 4 can bring a map offering to favour all 4 of those survivors whilst killers are 1 of 1 and can only bring one to benefit themselves. It's really not fun when survivors can load into a map of their choosing because it allows them to plan against the killer instead of embracing unpredictably and adapting on the fly. Sacrificial Wards being made common is appreciated but it's not a perfect solution because killers still want to use bloodpoint and event offerings. Survivors can also still bring 4 of the same to cancel a Sacrifical Ward anyway. Needless to say, map design is what makes this an issue in the first place. Maps that have a lot of line sight, difficult to navigate buildings, many safe pallets and vaults to be chained into allow survivors too much safety.

All these things can make the game feel competitively frustrating, where survivors are evading you in ways that feel cheap, making you feel like your skill is invalid.

I would prefer that survivors need to rely on looping well and unpredictably, hiding at the correct times, unhooking at proper times.

    Survivor :

I don't play survivor much and when i do it's Solo Q. Teammates simply give up too much. It's why i usually prefer to play killer.
