No one brings a map over medkit or a flashlight. Not an issue at all.

Pretty sure the devs would disagree, its why they did this update in the first place, it just isn't quite there.

I just came here to see if the totem addon was bugged. IDK why they thought making base maps not work with totems anymore was a good idea, let alone needing an addon that disables the entire other part of the map. I doubt I'll be using maps anymore.

I don't actually know if it's intended or not but i'll assume for now that it is. It sucks, it's not worth bringing that add-on unless you have boons because if theres no hexes. Dramaturgy and Ace in the Hole could also get this add-on which sucks too…

  • I was very drawn to the game for Trickster back in 2021. However i didn't stick with him because i feel like he's too weak and frustrating. I'm very excited to see what the rework is.

So early on when i looked to play killers other than Trickster, i started playing a lot of Shape who is currently my most played historically on the dbd stats website. I liked that he was basic enough but still had some very exciting add-ons. However, i don't play him as much anymore because i've come to realise how ultimately limited he is, and i do not really enjoy instadowning, i like to chase.

I mained chucky last year but the nerfs he received in december were too much for me, i barely play him anymore.

Right now i cycle between Springtrap, Ghoul, Dracula. I really like these characters and their playstyles.

    Nurse screams when she blinks.

Demo screams (howls?) when he uses his portal.

Dredge sounds like a car crash when it lands in a locker.

Springtrap is almost silent as the door isn't audible over generator sounds. And even then if the killer TP's one door over there's no way of knowing until a ranged killer is already close enough to snipe you.

Other stealth killers don't get ranged attacks or cross map mobility. Why does Springtrap get that and more?

Because other stealth killers are ######### ######### and new killers shouldn't match their level?

  • Ghoul is probably the best user of Coup De Grâce, because it's so easy to conserve stacks with his grab attack and the effect is extremely strong in his case.

That's not even true in literal sense. He can down you with vaulting, which I would say is part of his power…

It's not even close to be true overall, when he can just fully cancel his dash next to you with lower fatigue than Legion.
Get rid of his ability to cancel his power and I am perfectly fine with him.

Get rid of the ability to cancel his power? What, so he would have to wait 7 seconds or do unnecessary leaps to end the power?

Why would he need to be in the door next to hook? All he has to do is walk away, get in a door and wait for the unhook, then TP back to hook.

So give them 3+ seconds to react after the unhook happens? So the killer would just be waiting, doing nothing far away until you unhook instead of chasing another survivor. It doesn't seem necessary to me.

If you don't mind me turning your question back on you, now that you've had time to dig into his gameplay (I'm glad you're liking him!), is there anything you'd change about the Animatronic?

Right now i feel like he is the most balanced killer in the game for the average matchups.

Only thing that i really want is Quality of Life for survivors using cameras. I think they're really fun to use but they are not as easy to use as i feel like they could be.

Firstly, revealing the killer whilst they are chasing another survivor can be useful but it can feel too risky of a time investment because you they must first even be within 18 metres of a camera to be revealed, and you also need to find where they are even are. I suggest making it so survivor teammate locations are visible on the camera map if they are within a range of that door.

Also, something i do after revealing the killer is exit the camera to conserve battery but a problem with this is that the doors do not remember the last camera you were on after selecting it again, i think doors should remember the last selected camera per player.

Another issue i have with the cameras is Orientation, it can be difficult to realise where it is on the map you are looking at when first interacting. What i do to combat is immediately find what door i am using and using right click to switch to the camera i am at, and then doing the same to wherever i want to check (or sometimes i flip through them). I hope this could be addressed in some way.

I also think it would be nice if you could hear audio through cameras, this would help a decent amount in finding players but i know this seems to be quite a buggy thing.

Lastly a QOL for the killer is, on multi floor maps it seems like doors can spawn on different floors for the generator they spawn at, this can be quite detrimental and i feel like it should be made to where doors try to spawn on the same floor if possible.

  • No, they weren't, but it comes from a place of distrust for BHVR. Because not many asked for skull merchant to be gutted until a hazy rework some day but it's how BHVR decided to address it. Therefore the only control we have is to give different feedback by making comments like the one you replied to.

This feels especially true considering the balance changes made to Clown and Knight on PTB, outrageous decisions by BHVR is how many would consider it.

  • More cakes is good but the event game mode is bad. Killer queues are no exaggeration double the duration of normal, and it's just frustrating as survivor, so no good reason to play other than the quests.

  • I quite like Empathic, i've used it quite a lot and i don't find it causes problems for me. I feel like it enables your teammates a lot and probably up there with kindred in solo q info perks. The heal speed is quite good as well paired with a medkit. Otherwise it counters hit and run killers quite effectively.

I probably havent even had so many cheaters in all my 8 years of playing dbd. But yeah the report system is trash.

This year for me it ramped up tremendously, but i think i've also been playing a lot more. I didn't have to report any in 2024

no they are not, as if the survivor uses the "abandon" feature it is counted as a kill on our data.

Sorry, i meant the personal kill and escape rates on the stats website. If it uses the tally screen for recent match history, does it use the tally screen for all other stats on there?

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3955355#Comment_3955355

Not on our stats its not - to clarify that the stats we use internally are not affected by the Tally Screen (we track it differently), the website API uses the tally screen to track match data.

Does that mean the kill rates and escape rates are affected by abandon?

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3955337#Comment_3955337

Its tentatively planned for tomorrow - that could change, but I would expect tomorrow to be the day

Can we expect any Animatronic adjustments?

  • This is still an issue

  • @TheWheelOfCheese said:

It has nothing to do with charging, it has to do with having consistent controls for similar abilities.

Well i don't like huntress's controls. I think hers makes more sense because it's chargeable though. Springtrap's is more like Unknown.

  • Yeah a LOT of my stats dont feel right. Some survivors say i have 0 escapes which is not correct because i have every adept.

Apparently ghoul is my most played killer now. But i played chucky all year in 2024, yet he's only my 3rd most played. It also says i have a really high kill rate on trapper which i know is not true because i lose almost every game i play as him.

  • I disagree, i prefer how it works currently. Springtrap's axe isn't chargeable like huntresses

  • Most fun interactable killer prop in the game, i feel like you could actually get skilled with it, when other killers props are pretty straight forward.

Fire axe doesn't feel too bad to play against either.

  • @Wezqu said:

The effect only last five seconds after he leaves the area of effect of the axe. You take about that five seconds to start the chase again with Steve. So to me it looks like he was totally possible to have got rid of the effect before he vaulted the window.

Maybe but i feel like he didn't stop running, but maybe im wrong.

  • Yeah the deviousness is just terrible, it's completely reliant on survivors interacting and failing (getting grabbed and running out of battery).

  • @Unequalmitten86 said:

so after playing against him yesterday his stronges aspect is those teleporting doors. For one he springs out completely away from it and two he is really silent and there is no que. it is a mix of the dredge and ring chic. But even with lockers and tvs you can shut them off or lock a locker. While it doesn’t provide a total defense it is a good buffer. I don’t think any changes need to be made to him aside from this. He’s really good for the player base aside for the doors.
I also have only seen bots teleport as well. Since a survivor does not have control on where to go they seem useless for survivors.

They have complete control of where they are teleporting. You teleport to the door of the camera you are using

  • My guess they simply have a maximum number of pfps they can add

  • Seems like too much to me. It seems to easily outclass other healing perks, why would you use desperate when you need 3+ injured survivors to surpass botany that works at all times? Do No Harm as well, far too conditional to only get 50% more on 2nd hook survivors.

Hit and run definitely seems cooked with all the healing perk buffs. Botany definitely seems too much when it affects medkit self heals, which is where the penalty was balancing it out.

We'll have to see it play out maybe im wrong but this is what i've thought since PTB

  • @Choaron said:

Even though they improved it slightly, no more free hits is not as fun as before

It's not about free hits, i can still land the ability frequently, the problem is it effectively has a shorter range. It also doesn't feel like a surprise attack anymore, more like a tactical manoeuvre. Competitively, he feels hard limited by his cooldown, which gets boring.

    Singularity.

I swear I tried the best I could to learn this killer and do well with him, but I just can't. Everything I tried failed, and I tried everything.

I am just not fit to be a Singularity player :(

Understandable my brain gets fried playing that killer 😭

So Waterlogged Shoe adds a +7.5% haste to Hags base movement of 110% or 4.4m/s. Now the add-on does say to 4.73m/s but that math doesn't check out. 4×1.175=4.7 m/s. To make it where the Hag moves 4.73m/s it would have to be a +8.25% haste. 4×118.25%=4.73m/s. Which the wiki.gg clearly states.

    https://deadbydaylight.wiki.gg/wiki/Waterlogged_Shoe#7.1.0-0

So either I'm wrong or the description is wrong.

The calculation is 4.4x1.075 which gets you 4.73.

  • I think… we should just let players express themselves. To a certain extent of course.

  • Honestly i don't think that fits as well. The problem is that Trapper is just bad. It's why the upcoming Frank Stone legendary is disappointing as well.

DS is a chase extender. The four seconds, of which 1.6 or so are stuck in the release animation, are mediocre. It's a one-time, limited perk with a laundry list of deactivation triggers and a particular and narrow window of use. If the tunnel falls outside this window, then it won't be helpful. And if you're unfortunate enough to get rescued after the generators are completed, it's useless. I don't see value in DS because it doesn't work when you need it most - if you're a capable chaser - and barely works in other circumstances.

Yes, it's a chase extender. Is this meant to counter the argument that it's an anti-tunnel perk? Because it's a chase extender that has a window where it would activate in situations that the developers have considered to be tunnelling. Even so if the killer tunnels you outside of this window then the effect of that is not as catastrophic.

Yes the stun duration isn't great against every killer, but the 1 second wasn't doing much against the killers that it isn't good against and the 1 second was too much against the killers it is good against. But the stronger part of it is the fact it puts you from dying to injured - if the killer drops the chase after getting hit by a DS then they have wasted their time. Also, even if you're a capable chaser, some killers are too strong to loop for 60 seconds off a hook.

  • AI Says random.org claims to be truly random.

  • Would really like to see this bug fixed. It happens like… 10% of the time and in theory could cost you the game.

  • Ghoul isn't "missing". As said above he can't down you with his power, so once you're injured his power will be used to catch up, cancel the power and then hit you with a basic attack.

  • removing the ability for higher-skilled players to outgrade them

That's not the point of grades. They are just a monthly bp reward system. They are not used for matchmaking like ranks were.

Depips were removed because they were pointless and only made people feel bad or frustrated.

  • @ad19970 said:

Probably the Vecna buffs. They will boost him to A tier and make him a strong but perfectly balanced killer. Very much looking forward to playing him and hopefully against him. But I am also fairly excited for Springtrap as well.

Do they really? I almost feel like he'll be the same overall.

His cooldowns are lower but i still feel like it doesn't make a big difference, if you're chasing an injured survivor and both mage hand and fotd are on cooldown i'd still consider it a lost chase.

Fly goes further and is faster but because of the increased attack cooldown + nerf to the add-on, it doesn't seem like it's anymore lethal.

Mage Hand got fixed to the detriment of Vecna, pulling up a pallet no longer has the possibility of blocking survivors from immediately pulling it back down.

Dispelling Sphere buffs are good no doubt about that.

But unfortunately the other miscellaneous stuff he got that are add-on nerfs and magic item buffs overall is a sizable nerf.

I honestly don't believe vecna was buffed, unless i am missing something, but it seems more like to me that they were just cleaning up a lot stuff, biggest one being his mage hand "gambling".

you been wanting him since 2016 but started playing in 2021…………..you making up lies bruh lol

I knew about Dead By Daylight since it launched and i saw springtrap concepts in late 2016 for the game. But i didn't play dbd because it didn't interest me enough because i was already playing Friday the 13th at the time. I only decided to pick it up in 2021 because i was suprised it was still alive and the All-Kill chapter interested me. So i say best update since 2021 because that's how long i've actually been playing it for.

  • The chapter itself, Springtrap. Been wanting it since 2016 :)

When it comes to other changes they are doing, Go Next Prevention. It ruins like 1/3 matches for me.

Also Bulk Bloodpoint spending i think was probably one of the first things i would want from a Quality of Life update, glad they were able to implement it so well.

Very excited, probably the best update since i started playing in 2021.

  • Because it's the entire point of his power? You are supposed to reach pallets and vaults before he reaches you. 5 seconds is just insane, there'd be no point in using his power.

  • It's definitely a good anti-tunnel perk again. 4 secs definitely feels a lot better for killer, 5 was just excessive, people would t-bag and still make a lot of distance. However i feel like the perk has become a must have again. Also, as killer i hate when survivors stack anti-tunnel to use it offensively.

All these things need to be addressed with the anti-tunneling quality of life update they are doing. Perk reliance for the matter, and it's exploitative nature.

  • This has nothing to do with Knight.

  • They are not in the game yet, but they will be next patch which releases june 17th.

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

On the killer side, if you are only looking for perks, I would get only Artist, since all her perks are decent, and Knight for Nowhere to Hide. I would also recommend Pinhead because his perks are also decent, but since they will become public it may not be worth it. Other than that, there hasn't been any other recent killer with good perks. Sadako used to be a good choice when Call of Brine was good, but that perk was essentially deleted from the game. It has been a really long time since we got good killer perks.

I forgot about Nowhere to Hide, i definitely think knight is worth getting for it tbh, its just so good

  • Artist has the best killer perks overall, 2 of them combined (pain res and grim embrace) is the best slowdown combo. None of the other killer perks released after nemesis really come close. pinhead had good perks but he has been delisted so his perks are becoming generic next patch, they are very good.

As for survivor, Rebecca has Reassurance which is a really good anti-camping perk which is basically reverse camaraderie. Taurie has shoulder the burden which allows survivors to take a hook stage from a survivor when unhooking them, so really game changing perk if you get to pull it off.

There are some other decent perks but none i would recommend soley buying characters for. Because none of them are as reliable as perks found on the older characters.
