This is just objectively wrong. You can watch good players play against equally good Nurses. One, they cannot safe blink (blink to corner and then again) because then they will not be able to reach the survivor with the second blink on many areas. Two, regardless of aura perks or not, predictive means the survivor can outpredict them, which is exactly what happens. Good survivors against equally good Nurses can keep up a chase from anywhere to 30-60+ seconds just fine.
It must be tiring being so wrong about nurse, but fighting so desperately to keep her in her current state.
-
Nurse mains in this thread: "NURSE IS FUN AND BALANCED AND THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH HER".
Lol.
-
Nurse brigade already here to defend her. They just want to keep getting easy 4ks in basically all of their games. Don’t listen to them.
Some good ideas there.
I've seen a few different good ideas on what to do with nurse the past week or so on these forums and reddit. Hopefully the devs are watching.
-
Give her the Freddy treatment, not because it is good for the game, but because Nurse mains losing the OP toy they've had for years and years is just so appealing.
-

I don’t know why people are acting like BHVR making a decision means it was a good decision lmao. AA was literally awful because a killer can never ever get it off if the survivor just leaves after someone goes down even if they started right beside the killer.
You need to read that first sentence you wrote again and again and again. Once you've internalized it you'll find your answer.
The devs are not infallible. They make many mistakes (so many).
That is why they changed all those perks and still haven't nerfed nurse in any meaningful way.
I look forward to the day the devs decide to get it right and nerf nurse. I wonder, will you still play killer without the extreme advantage nurse gives?

Whats your opinion on the (now outdated) depip squad or those current HCS dudes?
As one of the leading nurse crusaders you should agree then to nerf characters based on the performance of their best players, or is that a killer only thing?
Wouldn't mind seeing an updated depip squad attempt. I have a feeling it wouldn't be nearly as successful as the previous one considering how much the game has changed.
I didn't watch all of the videos at the time, mostly just the ones with nurse because many people at the time claimed because they beat a fair number of Nurses it proved she is in a fine place balance-wise.
Only a single nurse they faced was above beginner level.
Anyways, I've been pretty vocal that SWF needs to be changed in some way along with nurse. I truly think that buffing other killers to Nurse's level and buffing solo survivors up to swf level would create a terrible game. Both those aspects of the game have too much power (swf because of comms and nurse because of her core mechanics/addons). Buffing everything up can't be the only solution.
People keep saying nerfing swf will never work. Well, to me that is like the devs when they say nothing they test works against face camping. They just aren't trying hard enough.
-
Players who knowingly spam overpowered things can be described as selfish, yes.
-
Sadly too many players would rather "win" than play in a match that is fair for both sides (can be applied to SWF's on comms doing map callouts like they are in a tournament, too)

There has to be something you really like...
You played even pre-nerf keys and moris, right?
Sound (when there are no footstep bugs)
Art
Map graphics (not design)
Gameplay, though? They don’t know which direction to take the game and it has been obvious for a while now.
-
Nerfing keys and moris (years too late).
Feels like they stumbled into success and are just barely hanging on
-
Nurse mains: "Show gameplay of a nurse being great and still thinking nurse needs nerfs"
Also nurse mains every time some body does: "no, not that gameplay! He is an outlier! He is too good! It's not what I was really asking for"
Don't even respond to the nurse mains who defend her in every thread. They argue in bad faith.
-
Nurse mains actually think that just because the absolute top tournament level SWF's, which no one sees in even a fraction of their games, can give an even match to the top Nurses, that every other player should be at an extreme disadvantage just because the killer chose Nurse. It is so ludicrous.
-
Get ready for nurse mains rushing to this post to defend every part of nurse.
The way they defend her you'd think she was the weakest killer, not the far and away strongest OP killer she is.
-
It was always the strongest strategy, and now it is even stronger.
Can't believe the devs actually thought that useless 5 second BT would do anything to prevent tunneling.
I'd say 80 percent of games are the killer trying super hard to make their third hook a kill.
-
@Raptorrotas said:
Can we apply the "theyre proven theyre the best and strongest and thus need nerfs"-logic to sirvivors too or is that only applicable to killers?
For better or worse, all killers are weighted against the only survivor basekit that, like the nurse, seems to be split into baby survs and god survs.
Yet survivor doesnt get balanced around those good survivors.
This community somehow cant judge both sides equally it seems. And those anti nurse crusaders suffer the most from this perceptive error.
No one thinks SWF is balanced. Everyone thinks it is just as busted as Nurse. Please, let's get swf nerfed too.
Please don't reply that solo survivor and swf is the same. It isn't. Adding voice comms changes it into a completely different game, just as choosing nurse over other killers does.
Like it or not, a 4v1 game can never be truly balanced, but the devs can do a much better job than this. In my thousands of hours as killer at top mmr i have only faced a handful of true tournament level swfs. Anything less than that can be dealt with by any killer if you are good enough. In my thousands of hours as solo survivor I have faced hundred, possibly thousands of Nurses.
Yes, I will take those handful of losses as killer knowing winning the game probably won't happen against four tournament level players with no shame (and they do have no shame if they are queueing for a public game on comms when they know how good they are). Just nerf nurse so the people who player her don’t get free wins in 95%+ of their games.
-
They can't let nurse be nerfed, because then they would have to admit all the easy 4k's they get are mostly a result of Nurse's busted mechanics and not their own skill.
But who are we kidding, they would all just switch to Blight while he is still busted.
Players who want to play a balanced game wouldn't play nurse to the point they defend her on forums.
-
But then how would nurse players who put a bit of time into her get constant easy wins over equally skilled survivor players in the vast majority of their games?
She MUST be super strong because they face tournament level 4-man SWF sweat squads one in every one thousand games!
Uh.. /s, because that is an actual real argument nurse mains use.

I don't think the game is actually survivor sided more so it's just the game has no way to make killer feel actually rewarding. If you try to 12 hook everyone chances are you're gonna be in for rough games. If you camp, tunnel, and stack slowdowns, you'll end up seeing way more kills but it's not really a fun experience either for either side.
Yeah, pretty much this.

"Comp players don't even Q public to begin with"
You sure?
In my experience he is right. Comp players don't tend to group together in a four-stack with comms trying to destroy lobbies. Those that do are few and far between, and don't seem to care they are playing an imbalanced match. I see them in duos from time to time, but most players realize how bad the balance is in this game and play accordingly.
Can't say the same for nurse players spamming her best addons/perks and playing as if their life depends on them getting a 4k every game.
-
Unless there are four tournament level survivors on comms then dbd is killer sided currently.
In my 6k hours on DBD I have faced fewer than 10 of these tournament level SWF's while they were on comms.
Many killer players here will say every second game they face is one of those SWF's. It isn't true. You can see all the top MMR streamers for proof.
I don't think the vast majority of games should be easy wins for killers just because tournament level players have a slight edge against the absolute best killer players (excluding nurse, of course)

It exists to disincentivize survivors from dive bombing the hook and unhooking in front of the killer’s face without any real threat (taking a hit and leaving), which would be utterly moronic.
I’d be fine with removing it, but ONLY in return for making the unhook animation uncancellable, so there is no way to avoid being downed if you do something stupid like trying to unhook in the killer’s face. Then it allows for trading, not risk-free hook dive-bombing.
Uh...what? No, it doesn't? Only SWF's dive bomb hooks if it isn't end game. Their dive bombing ignores healthy grabs anyways. Healthy grabs on survivors only really affects solo queue survivors, and since the majority of games have killers camping their first hook, this has been a needed change for a long time.
Whether the unhook animation is cancellable or not is not important at all. Make it uncancellable, sure.
@Raptorrotas said:
Youre right, with how buggy grabbing is, we should definitely remove that. IdV's terror shocks are a good alternative. That'd mean making survivors exposed during all "channeled" actions.
Alternatively: Vaulting with its "hurt only"-condition for grabs is the outlier, it should be normalised to always allow grabs. Additionally, Healing or "helping up"-healing dont have a grab at all, which also needs to be normalised.
Don't do crap in front of the Killer.
Tell me you don't play solo survivor without..you know the rest.

What are you talking about? You don't even have to play perfect if you're running loops in a risky way instead of the safe way. The key thing is to keep pushing gens and don't waste time. No reason for their to be 3 people running to unhook instead of 1 going to unhook and 2 on gens. Survivors doing dumb plays like that, and going down in 10 seconds, is what causes killers to win, not because of anything the killer did.
Hexy and all these other streamers seem to get the easiest of survivors. I don't know why or how, but they just do. Their survivors don't do gens, they bait windows just to run into a wall, and they let the killer win while using perks like Spies From The Shadows and Mad Grit. How these killer streamers get away with playing so chill so consistently, I'll never understand. But trust me, they do not represent what high MMR killer is.
High MMR killer, for those who have never personally been there, it's brutal. You don't get to run whatever perks, add-ons, or killers. You bring the best or you get annihilated. Even when you bring the best, it's gonna be mighty close. There is no room for anything to go wrong. Too many jungle gyms spawn? You lose. You chase someone at shack? You lose. Someone brought Prove Thyself? You lose. They get 1 flashlight save? You lose. It's not fair. Too many people speak on this area of the game when they haven't experienced it and know nothing about it.
Honestly, it sounds to me like you are one of those killer players using the strongest addons/perks/killers and sweating super hard to stay high MMR. And you do stay there, because you are being carried there by what I listed, but even now it is super difficult for you.
From someone who has always been rightfully placed in the highest MMR, after this patch especially winning is so easy it doesn't even feel fair.
This might be where your killer bias comes from.
Those streamers you mentioned are getting a stream of constant 4ks, as am I. If it is only you who isn't even though the overwhelming consensus is how easy killer has become...well...

It is a skilless tactic that rewards the killer for doing nothing. Many killers have realized it at this point.
Devs don’t actually play their own game or this "tactic" would have been changed long ago.

@Kaitsja said:
Nurse needs a full rework. Nurse presents a problem that other killers don't in that she ignores all resources survivors have at their disposal and only becomes more broken when you slap on basically any of her add-ons.
I played Nurse back when 7 blinks were still possible. I was still very new to the game at the time so I didn't have much in the way of success. I also played Nurse back when Hawkins was still in the game to varying degrees of success. So I am by no means new to Nurse. I have 1300 hours, most of which are as survivor with about 500 hours being almost exclusively killer, and while I am by no means a master at Nurse, I can do well enough that I can 4k against an average team fairly consistently.
I firmly believe that Nurse is an outdated killer who needs a full rework and doesn't fit with the current state of the game. This rework shouldn't happen until maps have been shrunk, however. When we have smaller maps that allow for M1 killers to actually start patroling gens without losing like 75% (Not meant to be accurate) on two gens at the start of the match, then we can get a Nurse rework.
Maps definitely need to be looked at, but you know the devs. If they look at the maps then nurse won't be changed for a long time after. Maps and nurse are maybe the most pressing balance issues right now, along with solo queue.
If maps are all shrunk and nurse stays the same for a prolonged period of time then killer queues will get really, really bad.
No one wants to play a game where you have no chance of winning. That's what will happen if maps are reduced and nurse isn't changed until later.
Nurse players have been handed easy wins for long enough.

Don't know who or what you are referring to, but this has been said again and again and again. Comms on tournament level survivors are as broken as nurse.

Honestly? Getting a 12 hook game is skilless, or perhaps I should say the skill discrepancy between you and them was so large that a fair game was intrinsically impossible. It does not really matter you drag those games out for 8-10 minutes "playing fair" or just end them in 2 minutes because those survivors are BAAAAAD.
I am not trying to take anything away from you, I am just saying a 3-5 hook game on good survivors is WAAAAAY more impressive. Assuming most did not come from altruism during end game.
That being said, evaluating skill in a party game is kind of cringe to begin with. Even more cringe than judging how others play a game. So I do not really even know what you are getting at? A win only counts if mmr gifts it to you? Lol. Cool.
Unless it is a tournament level 4-man SWF sweat squad on Discord getting only 3-5 hooks, especially with this latest patch, is not impressive, though.
Maybe it is different at lower MMR, but killers have it so easy right now that if you aren't going for the 11-12 hook win you will basically just win. Maybe you can let me know?
Sounds I touched a nerve, though. Judging how others play is cringe? Compared to other games, this game has, and has had, SO many ways for either side to be toxic and unfair to the other side (old moris and keys to name a few). Party game or no, you should be judged for unfair play.
-
Funny that all the Nurses are telling on themselves by talking about counterplay here.
There are so many situations where you are getting hit by the nurse no matter what.
No wonder they think she is balanced if they haven't learned how to zone or blink correctly with her. They are why her kill rate is the lowest.
-
The most effective "strategy" in this game is as you said, hard tunnel the first player you hooked while very lightly checking only the closest gen(s) to that first hooked player.
Before the first hooked player enters second stage you must pretend to chase away survivors coming to save that hooked player. Never actually chase, of course. If they are solo, they will not be able to save because hook grabs are super easy if it is 1v1, and they know that.
It is sad that this skilless play style is rewarded so much.
I go for the 12 hooks every game. It means I don't 4k as much as I could, but honestly tunneling first hook is skilless, boring, and not fun. If killers must play that way because the 'win' is more important to them than the challange (even though match balance is thrown out the window if they play that way), I can't respect them.
What the devs should do: hard nerf that "strategy", hard nerf nurse and Blight, and then hard buff spreading hooks for all killers.

Even more amazing is how nurse mains don't realize that after you reach a very achievable amount of practice with nurse you are boosted by her mechanics and able to compete with players better than you.
This isn't an only god-nurse problem. It is a balance problem in which Nurses are boosted by OP mechanics, thinking they are as good as players they may not actually be better than.

I don't use a controller. As far as I know you could be using some third-party controller, so the bound keys are still set to keyboard. It is an even worse look, actually, if that wasn't a controller...
You have only shown one clip of your gameplay. You and the nurse weren't even playing the same game. You were running around, having a hard time moving your camera (still unexplained), and the nurse couldn't follow a straight line.
Are you really trying to suggest that nurse was anything but a beginner?
I'd like to see another of your clips. Is it at the same MMR as the previous video?

You're literally wasting your time. Theyre not interested in debating anything with you. They're just seeking attention like any other troll.
If you ask for evidence from them. They'll tell you to go through their twitch. Or YouTube. Which I went through 2 streams the one day. Not a single nurse, and just mediocre gameplay. So not that surprising they want her nerfed.
If you show her counters. They'll just tell you how bad the nurse is. Regardless of if you ran them for 2 minutes straight, and your team mates died in about 20 to her 🤣
You still shook about that? At least give me props for immediately recognizing you're using a controller.
I'm just curious. Are you using a controller when you play nurse, because that would answer SO many questions I have about why you think nurse is balanced.
I'm sure it can be hard to recognize good gameplay. It looks quite easy to do when you are just watching a stream. I'm sure when you watch other top streamers it looks quite easy, too. You shouldn't mistake it for mediocrity, though, if you want to argue about top tier gameplay.
In your vid, the nurse was obviously a baby nurse. It lost you while you were going in essentially a straight line. Watch your clip again and tell me one moment where even a decent nurse should have lost you.
Your teammates...well, I think that speaks for itself.

Almost all the complaints about Nurse are survivors complaining that they should be able to beat Nurses that are more skilled than their solo q team is. How is that fair?
If a solo q team struggles at mind games or chaining tiles, why should they be beating Nurses that have mastered multiple other killers and is legitimately much better at the game?
But that isn't what it is at all, though.

But there is times when you need to camp as the killer, the other day i had a match and hooked someone in the last 30-45 sec of the EGC and i camped him due to the fact the hook was close to a exit and there was not long left till game ended. So its not a skilless thing as sometimes you need to do it based on the situation your in as camping might be the best play at the time.
Yes, like the devs have been doing with perks deactivating in the EGC, when the gens are done all there is left to do is camp. Nothing wrong with that.
For an ever increasing number of killers, however, their "strat" from the beginning of the game is camp the first hook. It's boring and skilless, and too rewarded.
-
It is a skilless, yet overrewarding mechanic. Just because it is part of the game doesn't mean it shouldn't be fixed. Keys were part of the game for the longest time even though everyone knew they were broken.
-
We watch the same video? If the killer actually knew how to use his power or even chase, the survivor team would have thrown the game by trying to play like this.
Looks fine to me.
Face camping, except in the end game, should be harshly, harshly punished. Instead, right now it is greatly rewarded.

I'm sorry that you have such a difficult time understanding something so incredibly basic.
Old Dead Hard: 0.5s of i-frames + a (roughly 6m? or so?) dash: Dash is irrelevant without the i-frames because it's Nurse and a lunge will likely hit unless it's edge-range anyways if they've already blinked accurately to the survivor. The i-frames allow nullifying a blink hit attempt.
New Dead Hard: 0.5s of Endurance + no dash: The irrelevant dash is gone, if you successfully take a hit, you get a speed boost and go even further than before.
......... It is much easier to wait it out because the survivor barely moves at all anymore. Are you even playing nurse these days?

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3137754#Comment_3137754
DH is literally better than before against her.
Attack recovery is irrelevant because fatigue overrides it.
The speed boost post hit reduction is basically irrelevant because she has to fatigue and charge anyways, and the difference is mathematically basically negligible if you aren't a killer that can just continue walking normally after a hit.
You shouldn't have to lie to yourself to defend something. That usually means it isn't worth defending. Come on..

The only ones defending nurse in these threads are the exact same 4-5 people, every time. So, yeah, just a few nurse mains. Kind of obvious, actually.

Sorry, but you are just wrong, and cases of good players versus other equally good players on Nurse comes out roughly even (outside of one-side favored maps/people doing meme builds or not playing seriously or whatever/etc), both in and out of competitive. Competitive has pretty much all VODs on YouTube and/or Twitch.
As for non-competitive, there's both proof that good players can do just fine in a chase against a good Nurse, as well as that games overall also are roughly even when all skill levels are more or less equal.
Examples of the former: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ig_iQ5S-ABA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnjfG_sLfQg&t=213s (1v1s with SupaAlf, a semi-frequent competitive player and Nurse main)
Examples of the latter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_R-gkMwKpA (SupaAlf on MMR Test Day 3 where equal skill matches were prioritized over queue time) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4ZHFVowqws (Fubs vs partial tournament SWF in regular non-tournament KYF) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30TKsT-s8Y8 (Ayrun's chases versus a decent Nurse)
The main issue with players of super high caliber is the same issue that exists in any versus game with matchmaking literally ever. There's not enough people of their level on consistently for said even matchups. So they get matched with worse players for the sake of queue times. Which is exactly why good players get massive winstreaks on basically anything and everything. You have solo survivors getting 400+ escape streaks without keys and then stopped counting cause they couldn't be bothered to remember anymore, and people getting anywhere from 50-150+ killstreaks on basically every single killer in this game, like someone playing pre-buff Legion with meme builds and getting over 150 wins in a row when they weren't even trying to go for a streak in the first place and only started keeping count because they noticed they were doing well afterwards.
Good players stomping players that are worse than them is not a balance issue. If it was, literally every single thing in this game would be busted, including solo survivors and even the weakest killers.
Watched the first video, hoping for something, anything.
You're joking, right? You show a video of old Dead hard with survivors getting a massive head start in chase so they can get to the only decent area on the map to defend against nurse.
Is that how it has to be? Every advantage given to the survivor in order to survive not even a minute against nurse?
And you use that as "evidence" she is okay?
Tournaments: she is restricted much more than even SWF is in any decent tournament. That‘s just fact.
All these videos are before this patch, which massively buffed her, too. She still okay, yeah? You'll probably play dumb about how this patch massively buffed her, so I'll say it here: Dead hard, super nerf of decisive, less distance after hit and quicker recovery. All of those things buffed nurse WAY more than any other killer received.
You've already been explained all this, anyways. One broken thing being OP (SWF) does not mean nurse should be too.
-
The only reason nurse hasn't been nerfed at this point is because she "keeps SWF in check." No other reason makes any sense.
All experienced players who aren't biased nurse mains who just want to keep winning can agree she is too strong.
Yet, "keeping SWF in check" is a terrible reason. You can't even change killers in lobby anymore, so even if you do meet a SWF you know is an SWF, you can't change to nurse.
At some point the devs will realize it. It is one of those things like keys and moris. Everyone knew they were broken for years, and the devs just did...nothing, for a long time, until they did something, and fixed it.
Nurse will be the same, and all the nurse mains boosted to oblivion by nurse's OP mechanics who will come to this thread to claim she is fine with lies and madeup statistics, well, they'll switch to Blight, because the game is only fun if they are winning in an unfair matchup.

@Mandy said:
I'm going to address the Devs are survivor sided comment here. This is completely not the case...the designers of this game are neither survivor sided or killer sided, they consider the game as a whole.
If there are any adjustments made to Wesker or his power, then these will be done for the health of the game same as any adjustments to perks etc. It's not about one side or the other.
But there aren't only two sides, not really.
SWF = top tier killers > regular killers > solo queue survivor.
This has been the accepted state of balance for a while now.
Might as well add another 'greater than' sign between regular killers and solo survivors after this patch.
I can understand the devs wanting to increase kill rates. I don't agree with how it has been done, but I can understand why.
What I don't understand is why solo queue is being left behind in such a way. Increasing kill rates in this way is just throwing balance out the window.
Maybe devs don't play high mmr games. Maybe they do, but I'd guess that there isn't much testing done there.
At this point if the killer decides he wants to win, he has all the tools necessary to do so. Solo queue players just have to hope a little slack is given. Some people think this is how the game should be. Is that how the devs feel? Should killers be feared and dominating games?
I think many players would just like an answer. Is bringing kill rates up more important, or is a fun, balanced game for all sides more important?
I can tell you that on the killer side it is just as unsatisfying, but in a different way. Winning doesn't feel as earned. It is too easy. I go for a 12 hook win, so sometimes I don't get it. After this patch, whenever I don't, I can look back at the match and say with certainly that if I just hard tunneled the first hook it would have been a 4k. I'm not even talking about nurse or Blight with their busted addons, either. Right now those killers are easy wins if the killer knows what they are doing.
The game is not in a good state.

The biggest tragedy about nurse is all these nurse mains in here thinking they deserve the constant stream of 4k's simply choosing and playing nurse with her broken mechanics allows.
But hey, let them tell themselves this lopsided balance is okay because it takes a couple extra seconds to traverse a map or two, or they have to sweat in the one in one thousand games they get a 4-man super sweat squad (most of those SWF players have enough sense not to queue together because of how broken SWF with comms is). Yet nurse players play every match in broken matchups like their lives depend on it.
4k'ing with nurse isn't impressive when she is broken OP. Why don’t they understand that? It's just common sense/sportsmanship. I don't queue with my friends at top MMR because it would be super boring winning every game in an imbalanced matchup. Yet Nurses do that every time they queue up. It is so insincere to come here and say nurse is fine.
The video from earlier in this thread of a just average Red rank nurse player with no perks/no addons, not camping and not tunnelling dominating 4 average red-rank survivors should tell you all you need to know against nurse. The only reason they almost did all the gens was because they were SWF, another broken mechanic.

I am guessing you enjoyed looping easy killers in chases where you did not feel pressured. It sounds like you want to play the "easy" role.

Forum flooded with killer mains - oh that's rich. Did you not notice this is the first major killer buff in literally 6 years since they nerfed Sprint, Self Care and changed a bunch of stuff in 2016? Most of the killer changes have been two steps back and one step forward.
"first major killer buff in literally 6 years"
What are you even talking about?
Yo, guys and gals. Defending your bias is cool and all, and even though it would be nice if you considered the other side's point of view, but at least say things that are truthful and make sense.
To everyone else - this is the kind of killer main you can just ignore. They say untruthful things because they want their side to be more powerful rather than advocating for a balanced game for both sides.
