Fair point ill take the 4 gen slow down, with how many ways survivors have to go through gens fast I will say as a survivor main those who complain about it needs a reality check, specially if they know how to loop then the killer gets 0 value of the gen perks.

For me so far simply using hand holding weave attune with franklins, knock out and rapid brutality perk is crazy. Cherry on top is when I have someone kamikaze on hook or hear the famous boing button cause they dont want to play vs this build

Even the strongest tiles and windows is nothing by using this combo cause survivors just hug me alot thinking oh they won the mind game and I scored 3 to 4ks vs when I try to use 4 slowdown ill get 0 to 1k in most games, it shows me just how much more aura reading is can be dangerous. Trickster/wesker are my two killers.

This reads like someone that played vs this niche and frankly bad build once and is very upset at it.

  • The aura needs to be a different color to differentiate it from trail of torment. Otherwise this sounds good.

They can sweat on normal game mode all they want, event is separate now. There are literally 0 reasons to do that on the event, where players are trying to do challenges.

Players are free to play how they want tho: I'm just making a healthy suggestion for both sides:

Don't sweat over wins and your main objectives - interact with the event more, kick some pumpkins, collect orbs use your smoke bombs\ghosts, etc.

I mean, bro - you are getting more points for interacting with this event than doing your main objective, or am I wrong?

Turns out they can sweat wherever they want. I dunno why this bothers anyone. It's not like survivors ease off gens and goof off if the killer has 0 hooks at 2 gens left. Just go next.

  • People try to win in a PVP game. It's not a big deal.

  • @Yoshirama said:

We all know how clutch that perk can be, little wheels for killers that got rewarded for doing bad. In times like this where survivors can't spend too much time cleasing totems because tunneling is almost in every match, noed is just a slap in the face. I suggest some changes:

-Survivors now are notified when they are exposed after finishing the last gen, so they are aware of that and can search for the totem.

-Now it needs two dull totems to lit, like that can be avoid uncounterable situations where the killer hooks a survivor next to the hex and there's nothing survivors can do.

-Remove the speed bonus, killers really doesn't need too much help if they're doing it bad.

Yeah, maybe I'm salty, but if adrenaline was nerfed because it was so clutch for survivors, noed needs a nerf too.

Noed already received a nerf, you can see the aura of the totem. That predated the adrenaline nerf. So if you look at the game as a seesaw and when one thing gets nerfed something else needs to get nerfed(wrong way of looking at the game btw), adrenaline is merely caught up with noed now.

  • Ah, there's the appeal to basekit unbreakable. I knew if I skimmed it'd be in there.

I also like how it's gone from camping and tunneling to camping, tunneling and slugging. Fun stuff.

Then you are lucky, for me and many others it happens more often than not. Could be your server location and time of day that you play

Statistically, you're wrong. You and many others suffer from confirmation and negativity bias that influences what and how you remember events. BHVR has the numbers and they do not lie.

  • I've always thought when there is one survivor left the entity should pick them up and drop them outside the exit gates with a little gold star for being such a good sport. Easier than this, similar effect.

  • @GeneralV said:

I don't think 60% kill rate is terrible for the game, but I strongly disagree with the methods used to get there. Making survivor feel worse to play so kill rates will go up isn't a good solution.

And if this was the only way to do it, then it wasn't worth it.

What are you talking about? What does making survivor feel worse to play mean? It's so abstract.

Distorion stacks should be earned by conspicious actions. 2 tokens may be good i think

Back to infinite tokens vs anything but 3-4 aura perks.

  • The vast majority of the time it doesn't even happen. Faster bleed out is an okay option.

  • Looks really good to me. I'd add that lullaby doesn't light up until a survivor is hooked as well.

  • You really wanna make 4ks illegal, huh?

there is two types of tunneling in the game. soft-tunneling and hard-tunneling. hard-tunneling is tunneling that is often done after a hook save or after a slug save. soft-tunneling is selectively hooking people and ignoring everyone else. Distortion protected survivor against Soft-tunneling which would often force the killer to spread hook inefficiently and lose because they can't find right people due to their aura perks being blocked.

Reckon we disagree. I don't think "soft tunneling" is a thing at all. Moreover current distortion will protect you from this as well.

the killer will not chase any survivors. they'll use an aura perk like nowhere to hide and just kick gens until they find person on death hook or closer to hook. it does make sense if you play killer efficiently. distortion would allow survivor to hide themselves from aura perks so that they are not chased.

The killer in this hypothetical is roaming around, not taking chase until they find someone with hook states. That's not tunneling. If they were tunneling they never would have lost contact with the person they want out of the game. In your scenario the other survivors are just doing all the gens while the killer aimlessly roams around in the hope they find the person they want.

  • Yeah sure if survivors can only do it within a few seconds of the gates being opened. I'd take legion getting beat to death by Claudette over everyone sitting in the exit gates for two minutes smashing Ctrl.

    >You have to be the last survivor. Not last one standing or not on hook, but last survivor period. Hook stages are irrelevant; you wouldn't even get a chance to 4%. You're dead. Case closed.

I don't understand at all why this was said and where is the argument here? I have already repeated a hundred times that it is unfair and the OP in one click destroys a survivor who has never been on the hook. I, as a player who often remains the last one alive and who played so well that he has never been on the hook, do not deserve to be killed in this way. PERSONALLY I do not like this and that is why I would like to have the ability to prevent mori on myself. And this is a completely reasonable desire and if it offends you, then something is wrong with you.

    >If you wanna give hatch, go ahead. But you're the killer. You cannot expect the devs to balance the game around NOT accomplishing their goal.

Giving the hatch to the last survivor is not a must, but it is considered good manners. I mean, instead of making the game more about fun and less about tryharding, the developers are doing the opposite. Before 2020, the game was fun, few people really sweated in a game about survival and killing. But now we are here.

Getting to the endgame without any hook states doesn't mean you played well. It means you didn't take your share of aggro or leverage your hook states as a resource for your team.

It's nuts how there's actually a sizeable contingent of players that think holding m1 and crouching away as soon as they hear a whisper of a terror radius is the entirety of the game.

  • I actually kind of agree with this. I think maps being mostly survivor sides eases the pain of a dumb teammate eating all the resources in one part of it.

I don't care how much of your build you dedicate to it, it's still an unhealthy result, it's still disproportionately strong against soloQ players. All you need is 1 Pentimento that the survivors can't find.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3818741#Comment_3818741

Yeah, Hunch shows every totem on the map, for a few seconds. And only when generators are completed, which Pentimento is good at slowing down. And good luck finding the totem spots that were already cleansed by teammates.

Counterforce does little to help you find totems because it only highlights one at a time and specifically the furthest one so have fun wasting as much time as possible running to those totems.

These perks are bad, don't even joke that they're worth running as a counter.

That's funny. Last time I saw penti it was on a deathslinger and me and the other Kate just followed him around and deleted every penti he kindled. Acting like teamwork doesn't exist is ridiculous.

  • I've not seen it as killer but had it done to me a couple times as survivor. It's pretty good.

  • I think you're looking for DBD Twitter or tiktok. They'd eat this screed up.

  • Gotta say since the last update I've noticed various server issues. Dunno about evil no good killer mains using VPNs, but weird stuff like Dr's red stain on survivors not following them properly.

  • Her loop gameplay is non-existent. She doesn't do anything. Worst killer in the game.

Good news though! They're working on redoing her kit.

  • I have not seen this at all in my survivor games. Whoops.

  • @KerJuice said:

I agree. I always felt Distortion needed a buff, not a nerf. You can burn through stacks easily when going against aura reading add-ons and perks

The only thing that ever depleted all my stacks was huntress and scratched mirror Myers. It was impossible to run out 95% of the time. Waving your hand at "aura perks" doesn't mean anything.

  • Audio occlusion gets varying states of broken each patch.

  • All you have to do is bring a key and play like a rat. I'm also really unfond of this because it's really really boring, but it's not like it's impossible.

With all due respect I play only soloq and it is brutal. Every killer has at least 2-3 aura reading perks. I ran distortion and most of the time my tokens were eaten up by the first minute of the game. It allowed me to do gens I also don't hide in lockers because I always get caught. Even users that don't have distortion jump off a gen and hide when they get the heartbeat or sound. Problem is the killers I face don't engage in chase and drop it extremely quickly. They don't patrol and just really hang around one area if the board is large, some killers even force a 3 gen situation. The players that I have found that didn't do anything (and trust me it was a lot) hid in the basement doing a locker shuffle, some even just hid in a locker all game and the killer ignored the explosions, these players did not have distortion but Object of Obsession they also knew exactly where the hatch would Spawn. I am also seeing now as both killer and survivor that when there is 2 gens left nothing gets done. I don't know if this is because of the mori now but it's a standoff and I just put myself out there because I'm not going to hold up a game but I them am the lucky one to get bled out.

Also tying the token recharge to just chases will discourage a aura running killer to drop chases quicker. Most aura build contain LP so they will figure out who the distortion user is. As per the lives you all do you constantly stress "the killer to engage chase" but adding gens repair or solely gen repair does encourage both patrol and chase. These killers don't chase, they hang around the edge of the hook or weave in an out and really tunnel. They don't have gen regression perks and it's all aura builds. The games are always hard pressed after an update but I fear this change (and eve buff) will discourage players.

Also there is a huge handicap between console and PC. Console can't maneuver as smooth as PC a lot of distortion users were console because looping is a little hard for us, out fast vaults and pallets are super broken.

Why is it that when people post complaints like this they use the most exaggerated, hyperbolic statements possible? No every killer is not in fact using 2-3 aura perks. There is no way all three tokens were consumed in the first minute of the game on a regular basis. The rest of your post is about 3 gens and people swapping lockers in basement and killers apparently not chasing(how are they hooking anyone without chasing?) which are super outdated complaints.

The whole thing paints you as someone bolting into a locker the second you hear the terror radius and only doing gens on the edge of the map, 3 genning your team. Frankly you sound like a terrible teammate.

  • @Peanits said:

First off, thank you to everyone who took the time to leave feedback!

30 seconds in chase per token is a little steep, so we'll be adjusting Distortion's recharge time to 15 seconds per token in an upcoming patch. This should make it a little easier to get your tokens back after you've been found.

Back to infinite tokens. Well I got to use alien instinct for a while.

aww. So because you have two very low proc'ing aura perks, distortion completely ruined it for ya then. I can admit that certain perks could probably be able to consume more then 1 token, or consume more time per token. But distortion among all 4 players in incredibly rare and even then. It'd be more of a nerf to survivors. At most you'd see 2 people with distortion and even then you'd be fine. Getting free info on 2 ppl alone narrows down survivor options greatly. Yet with bbq, even without distortion survivors can catch on pretty quickly that you have it and avoid it in the future. Its a pretty easily countered with or without distortion. Lethal would give you value nearly ever game since there's no way you are having an issue running into 4 man distortion groups.

What on earth is free about that info? I maintained enough pressure to keep survivors injured, I downed and hooked someone else. I gave up two perk slots. That's about as not-free as you can get.

Again it's still super situational. I get info on 2/4 survivors..... assuming they are injured. Without distortion the perk gets much stronger because all I have to do is keep them injured and hook someone as opposed to keeping them injured, hooking them and hoping nobody has distortion. It adds a whole other layer that makes a bad perk even worse.

Admittedly I'm really infatuated with this one perk because I love making survivors oblivious but the same logic works for any single target aura reveal.

  • That's impossible vs most killers. There's only a handful of things that can deplete all 3 tokens in short order

  • @Wezqu said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3815855#Comment_3815855

Like for me Distortion was never a problem as a killer.

Distortion isn't a problem for me either because I don't run aura perks. Know why? Because of distortion. If I run lethal and BBQ I'm never seeing 1-4 survivors auras all match because the tokens never run out. Two dead perk slots I could just have reliable game stall in. This can only help perk diversity.

  • @VantaNite said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3815709#Comment_3815709

It was incredibly easy to to burn distortion stacks, especially on killers with smaller terror radius. Predator is not strong on many killers, but its incredibly oppressive with nurse and a few specific killers. This didn't help diversity, its simply forced the game into a single playstyle. Everyone that doesn't fill that gap will now be filtered out of the game.

Wait. Perk X is strong on nurse? That's nuts. Better balance everything in the around this one killer they ignores half the mechanics in the game.

The only time I ever ran out of distortion stacks was vs a full aura reading huntress or scratched mirror Myers. Vs nearly every other killer in the game it just turned aura perks into a dead slot. That sucks. Sorry. People stealthed before distortion and you can stealth now.

  • @VantaNite said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/427060/distortion-medium-update

Its not that distortion counters too many perks and add on's, but that distortion is the only counter to so many perks and add ons. Dev's should get a clue. If someone wants to go unseen the whole game they'll just go in lockers. An aura build will already burn through distortion stacks. With the new build and perks like predator it'll basically be impossible to even have stacks of distortion. With a smart killer, that perk alone would completely allow the killer to control his stacks on you as well so you'd never be able to use the perk. If a survivor's gone unseen for the entire match, its because they are not engaging and if anything this will make cowardly players even more likely to hide in lockers. The amount of survivors that are not great in long chases is already high even in higher ranks. All this is going to do is encourage tunneling out the weaker survivors and massively encourage gen rushing build's.

Nobody is gonna run predator. It's a bad perk. Against 32m tr killers even with 2-3 aura perks you could not run out of stacks of distortion. Now you can. It was necessary to help perk diversity.

  • A Mori is an animation. Basekit unbreakable would be adding one of the strongest perks in the game for free, without a slot. This would affect every killer and basic gameplay scenarios. Compared to an animation that you watch. What's the equivalency here?

There was no need to because there was less crutch aura reading perks with bbq being the only balanced and fair one that had counters to it.nice one there but try again. keep making all the counter backs you want you just not gonna admit at the end of the day your just as bad needing free information as bad as a distortion user, oh cant look up and avoid flashbangs/flashlights without needing lightborn?

What aura reading perks? You're just waving your hand like most of them do anything. When's the last time you saw hangman's trick? How about alien instinct? Awakened awareness? Is the answer never? Because they're really really bad? I like the random segue to lightborn by the way. Definitely relevant.

  • I agree. Order of ecclesia is my favorite Castlevania game and this is a big disappointment

I know I’m not the only one on the board asking this but distortion should have been left alone. Now killers are running leathal to take distortion out so you can’t counter the 2 other aura reading perks they’re using.

Whoever thought this distortion change was a good idea should be told it wasn’t

That's like, the point? If the killer is running three???? Aura perks they're soft throwing. Knowing where a dude is is not winning the chase or slowing down the game. It's just finding somebody.

Is it hard to open a locker or kick a gen? How can you kick a gen if it has no progress which requires a survivor to work on it which it's the survivors Input or ill be more straight forward what skill does opening a locker or kicking a gen takes from the killer to get free informstion?

That's stuff they're doing, that's input. You could say it's too much reward for what they are doing, but it's inarguably something they are doing. As killer every second is valuable and they're using the most valuable resource the killer has: time.

You're sitting here saying free this, free that while ignoring that the killer spent a perk slot on this stuff, on top of the other activation requirements and limits these perks have. None of them are "free".

  • @buggybug said:

me healing or being heal by someone else aka nurses= takes no input from killer

Me unhook and gets reveal = takes no input from killer

Opening a locker and finding me still don't count as input from killer.

Kicking a gen which requires a survivor to work on one also is no input from the killer.

Hitting good(use to be great skill checks) on gen the killer sees me with yet again no input from killer

Notice how far killers get free info for nothing but from survivors doing their jobs? @Crowman. I still need a answer why killers must be allowed free info. Also don't be shocked when things like nth be asked for nerfs.

How do you say these activation requirements don't require input from the killer while simultaneously describing the input the killer is doing?

  • @buggybug said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3814828#Comment_3814828

If survivors stealth is taken away so should killers free information perks. Remember 2016 when killer had to use scratch marks, grunts of pain and blood pools. Hey I can really push it to say lightborn should not fully negate any flashlight and should only work 4 token max. Or how is someone like chucky with rat poison allowed free wallhack hits?

Yeah and survivors will have to use their brains to discern what aura perks are in play and act appropriately instead of relying on a perk that singlehandedly deletes one or more killer perk slots. The horror.

Like what did you people do before distortion recharged? Nobody used it. You had to use lockers and play around the activation requirements of aura perks. They're all pretty easy to figure out. Stealth play doesn't hinge entirely on one perk.

  • How's the killer gonna win the game by just not chasing?

I'm sorry that your perk that shut down a whole suite of perks and add-ons without any input from anyone is getting nerfed. It's not as bad as it could have been. It's still useable.

  • Good changes, but five open traps for trapper feels excessive. He could possibly forget that he set one, which is illegal.

  • I've been thinking this as well. It'd give the devs a little breathing room to make more interesting perks.

1 … 7 8 9 10 11 … 27
