Gen speeds are fine and you shouldn't be hiding anyway. Unless you're playing against cheat slinger, learn to run tiles better.

First of all salty killer main, you realise there is a timer on becoming dead on hook? that's literally the only reason why we do that. Play the game and stfu that twas the second most ######### thing I heard today.
Yes... 60 seconds before each phase.... You have plenty of time to do literally anything else besides camping a hook. You are hurting your team mates by not doing the objective. I'm not a killer main idiot, I play both sides equally. I'm assuming you have 200 hours in the game huh.

Gonna have to say no - primarily because unhooking in the killer's face or before they get too far away counters Devour Hope stacks.
Literally nobody runs Devour Hope. Its either 4 gen slowdown perks or nothing.
-
All 4 of them escaped mean all the gens got done. They clearly didn't even need the key against you, no offense. You ARE playing trickster, the weakest killer in the game.
-
I hate dead hard with a passion, but they need to nerf ruin and pop before they nerf dead hard.
-
Weird, because I've seen Otz beat tons of SWF survivors. What does that say about those survivors?
-
I'm sorry, but I see Killers do this far more often than I see survivors doing it. I've seen Killers find a 3-gen at the very start of the game and sit on it with 5 gens still up. It is insane and in solo Q, it is almost impossible to win against a 3-gen due to how bad my console team mates usually are. So if it gets addressed on the survivor side which I've honestly never seen happen (Maybe because I'm not a potato and run Whispers) it needs to also be addressed on the killer side.
-
I am honestly struggling to play solo survivor myself because every single match I get console survivors who are crouching/walking around, waiting to insta-save their team for easy points, wasting every single pallet on the map, or simply not saving their team mates at all. I can't tell you how many times I have died on first hook because they're too scared to even walk. It is absolutely infuriating to deal with when you just want normal matches. I don't even care about winning/losing. I'm just tired of seeing my team mates literally doing nothing all game.
-
Thats not an exploit, thats baiting you to swing. Git gud.
-
Just wanted to say its been 2 months since this update and the UI and new animations are still horrific to look at. Feel free to revert them any day now.
-
It was actually fixed before these terrible map reworks. I think only one window stayed open (sometimes closed off) and both pallets always spawned inside. But you know... BHVR loves ruining things.
-
The new animations still garbage compared to the old ones.

I mean whatever gets people to play twins, because right now they are the least played killer in the game.
The reason people don't play The Twins is because nobody wants to resort to the playstyle necessary to win as her. She is insanely strong as a Killer due to being able to camp/slug with zero downside. Victor is also nearly impossible to dodge with how lenient it is for killers. For a killer that isn't played often, I come across her a lot and every time I do I hope to get tunneled out the match so I can move on because she is incredibly unfun to go against.
-
Holy moly, what a terrible idea for a perk. Here, I'll throw in my own perk.
Perk Name: No
The survivors can not leave the exit gates or hatch until the killer gets at least two sacrifices.
"We want to balance the game to have two sacrifices and two escapes." -BHVR
-
Bumping this up because it needs to be addressed badly with console players. They continue to get DC'd mid match and ruining on-going games. They are also constantly going AFK once we load in and not playing the match recently. Please either turn off crossplay or do something about the insane amount of wifi gamers.

Then you are on the wrong server or something, because my internet is around 20 Mbps download speed and I am always below 100 ping with the rare occasion of being put on a bad server.
Did you even read my post?? BHVR did not install a server for us in West Asia that's why the game connects me to random servers and that's why me and a lot of others in my position have high pings!! I've posted a screenshot of my internet speed so my internet is not the problem here. My ping only in this game is very high because we don't have a server so blame the devs if we get connected to the "wrong" servers, not the players. They're not giving us a server.
Buddy, this is YOUR problem. You are ruining everyone else's experience for deciding to play on terrible ping like that. You should not be playing this game if your ping is consistently that high and causing everyone's matches to either be ruined, unfun, or unfair.
-
100% Agreed

Nvm, this is the live patch 4.5.2 and it is apparent in here as well. It looks super weird.

I play between Noon EST and 9pm EST and I think the longest time I have waited the past month or so is maybe 5 minutes. Most wait time are anywhere from 90 seconds to 3 minutes for me. I play Purple/Red rank and have played solo as well as SWF. I don't think 2-4 minutes is a long wait.
I used to be in your time zone, it gets really bad after 9 PM EST. Usually 5+ minutes. Before crossplay, daytime would be instant queues and night time would be around 3-4 minutes.
-
Umm, looping is literally how you play DBD. Interactions in chases are why DBD is a fun game.
I dislike exhaustion perks(head on is fine), map offerings, and keys. Everything else I do not care about.

Whats the problem that they run good Perks? Why did you not show your Perk Build as well? Probably because its pretty similar as well?
There is nothing wrong with running good Perks on both sides. Object is the only dumb Perk I see in your picture and this will, hopefully, getting nerfed.
My perk builds was Mettle of Man, Iron Will, Calm Spirit, and WGLF. No items, event offering.
Object is fine as a perk. It doesn't affect chases or swing the match in any favorable direction. An actual good SWF will probably destroy you regardless if they have object or not.
I didn't show my build because my name was something inappropriate (not TOS breaking), but it was Killer's *** <3

Not sure what queue times have to do with perks?
My queue times depend more on the time of day. In the afternoon, survivor queue times are so fast, when I start searching for a match and open my bloodweb to level a bit, I'm in a lobby before I have the chance to buy even a single node. If I try to play killer, I'm waiting much, much longer.
At night, survivor queues have always been much longer and killer queues faster, but they're still faster these days than months ago.
It could just as well be that the evening is the time when people want to virtually meet up and play with their friends, for which the survivor role is somehow better suited than killer.
Btw, I'm not bothered if I see survivor loadouts like those in the screenshot. For my killer playstyle, it means three survivor are playing with just two perks each.
Not true, before crossplay the queue times at night for PC players were only 3-4 minutes which wasn't bad at all. The problem is how incredibly boring it is to deal with these same perks every single killer match. I am perfectly fine with DS and I love object of obsession. But to see Dead Hard or Sprint Burst almost every single match whether the survivor is good or bad is painfully boring to deal with after your second killer match.
@fogdonkey said:
Play killer if queue times for survivors are long. It would be enough if every fifth person would switch to killer...
I played killer for 3-4 hours before this match. I only played to do dailies/farm stats for the DBD leaderboards. It is incredibly boring as you win almost every match because every survivor is a complete bot and every single match has at least one dead hard user and one sprint burst user. It is incredibly boring to play.
-
@fogdonkey said:

I play Killer all the time. Played Killer for 3 hours before this one. It gets incredibly boring because majority of survivors are complete bots. These guys are all 3 running DH/DS which is the most boring perk combo in DBD. I see it consistently in my Killer matches and its one of the reasons why killer is so boring. I'm fine with DS, but DH and sprint burst are so painfully boring to deal with and see every single match.

As someone who has tried a VPN with the game before let me give the counter:
1) Hits are server calculated anyway. I think they were turned off recently but I'm not sure if they're still off. I played when server sided hit detection was on, and you could feel it cuck you as killer and the whole aiming felt "off" somehow. This really helped with VPN issues.
2) Not a single server over a number of games complained about lag and believe me if you get any hits or kills the survivor greatly disagrees with they will let you know about it. I kept expecting it in the endgame chat because I was worried it might be laggy (i played when the game was p2p and I know how bad it can be as survivor) but nobody had an issue and I got a number of ggs. So I guess it depends where they are VPNing from and the quality of their own connection and their VPN. (I imagine free are quite bad).
3) I only did it because BHVR messed up queue times. I don't have all day to play and sitting in a queue for 20 minutes leaves me very little time to play the game. Sometimes it was queue 20 minutes just to get a lobby with 2 keys and 2 toolboxes at which point I wondered why I bothered playing at all. VPN to U.S which had a much larger playerbase drastically cut those queue times down.
On the top of wifi I imagine most players in the game will be using wifi. Most people don't have cables trailing all over their home and its only really the dedicated online gamers that insist on cables which is a minority. As for those who frequently disconnect due to their connection dropping, well the dc penalty for them is probably quite high for them by now so they likely wont be playing anyway
Sorry, but your ping still dictates unfair hits or not. I know you find it hard to believe, but just because you have a good connection to the server does not mean the killer's ping is good to the server. If a survivor has bad connection, they will get hit no matter what is on their screen. If a killer has bad connection, the killer gets free hits from EVERY survivor. It has always been this way since dedicated servers were released and no matter what BHVR says, this will not change.
To your second point, not many people talk in post game chat anymore because this game is only filled with try hard sweat lords and most of us would rather not bother speaking to others anymore. Also, console survivors can not speak. Do you think I waited around to tell the killer he was laggy? Nope. I checked his profile to see they were from Peru and I left. I don't spectate matches because I don't care.
-
Just went against another VPN player from Peru :) this time it was a Bubba. Bumping this up so it gets noticed because it is a genuine problem that needs to be fixed. This has actually been a problem since dedicated servers were released.
-
No, I'm not good with photoshop. Yes, I know this will be ignored and the company wont care one bit about suggestions on the UI.
UI explanation: To the left of the line from top to bottom are gens remaining, hook counter for killer, item/power + addons. To the right of the line, character portraits/names and everything else remains the same.
-
I will post a third comment for the 4.5.2 patch to give my thoughts:
Animations: Still look awkward and horrendous. Could once again just revert the animations and they would be perfectly fine, but BHVR is far too stubborn to admit what they're doing is awful.
UI: It was better than 4.5.0 one, but it is still in the middle of the screen and not very pleasing to look at. Simply reverting or positioning them to be horizontal would fix this, but once again BHVR doesn't like to admit when they are wrong.
Just revert the UI and animations please. Nobody asked for these changes, they look terrible.
-
This is the guy that thinks Spine Chill is overpowered, don't ever listen to this guy please lmao.
-
Good.
-
Bumping this up because it is a genuine problem playing against people sitting on a wifi connection. Please do something about the wifi players.
-
They should nerf it even more actually.
-
This is an asymmetrical horror game. Note the word asymmetrical. The game isn't supposed to be perfectly balanced. This is probably the only asymmetrical game that isn't so unbalanced one side is incredibly oppressed every single match. Play the game for fun mate, not to win.
-
DC penalty shouldn't exist. If a survivor or killer doesn't want to continue a match, there is nothing stopping them from simply going afk or suiciding on hook. No amount of penalty is going to stop someone from not wanting to participate in a match.

Sooooo, soft ban half the player base?
Ping as the killer doesn't have near as much of an effect as ping as a survivor. Bad hits are mainly because of desync and server latency.
Also, people are being randomly disconnected is because of an issue that has actually persisted on console for quite some time now.
The killer's ping has far more of an effect than a survivor's ping. If a survivor's ping is bad, they will get hit regardless. If a Killer's ping is bad, EVERYONE gets hit regardless. It has always been this way and always will be this way.
Why is it always the killer mains trying to defend their side so damn hard? Like bruh, we just want fun matches where we don't get ######### over.

Unless someone can think of a better solution, I genuinely believe if your ping goes higher than a certain threshold, you should be kicked off the server(IN THE LOBBY) and forced to Re-queue in order to find a better server for you or until you fix your internet.
Nope. This wouldn’t be fair for players like me when it’s BHVR’s fault. I’ll just copy and paste my comment from another post...
—————
I have great internet connection as you can see and I play with a wired connection but I always have very high pings (130+ms) and it’s all BHVR’s fault. And it’s not just me but everyone in my region (West Asia). For some reason BHVR thought it would be a good idea to have all the servers in Asia be located in the East. Asia is a huge continent, instead of having a server in West Asia and East Asia like the US has US West and US East servers they decided on East Asia only and have 0 servers in West Asia, not even 1 which is really all we need.
That’s why I sometimes get connected to East Asia servers and sometimes Europe, I play with people from Russia, France, Spain, US, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Singapore, Australia, Norway, Sweden. All over the world :)

I have been playing this patch all week and I really just need to re-iterate this.
The new animations look absolutely horrendous. Please, either make them more similar to the old animations or just revert them all together.
- Seeing survivors stand up, not scared or concerned whatsoever is beyond awkward to look at as both a survivor and a killer.
- The injured standing up animation just looks like you have to use the toilet and looks very awkward.
- The uninjured running animation looks WAY too stiff for someone who is running away from the killer.
- The injured animation might be the ONLY one that looks decent, but it is definitely not better looking than the old ones.
- Uninjured/Injured crouch I don't have much opinion on other than the older ones just looked more fluent and fun.
- Dying state animation looks SO WEIRD. I'm afraid to turn my character's body because it looks like they're about to snap in half.
I just want to also add in this... please don't try and make changes to make the game seem more "realistic." Realism in video games is incredibly boring and ruins a ton of games. Obviously you're not going to see a person hunched over like they were.
All these changes are doing nothing but removing the awesome charms of DBD. This includes the change of how the maps look. All the charm of DBD is being taken away... why? We didn't ask for this. We just want a healthy, fun, and entertaining game.
-
I will just add to the comments myself to show my support of the changing both the UI and the animations. I also want to put one input that isn't about the UI or animation, but will likely be completely ignored.
UI:
- All over the HUD. I genuinely find myself wondering what is going on or if anyone is even being chased or is injured.
- Blocks the view often, making it hard to see where things are occassionally.
Animations:
- Characters look awkward and stiff.
- Running animation looks like they are going for a light jog and not running from a Killer, very unnatural looking.
- Idol animation looks like the survivors are trying to legit fight someone. Very unnatural look for females, sorta unnatural for males.
- Survivors do not look behind them while running, head movement is very awkward.
I would legit love it if they simply reverted the animations and kept the originals forever. They looked incredibly good for what they were and very natural.
My extra input is breakable walls. Breakable walls seriously make it extremely difficult to play normal m1 killers. I can not tell you how many times I have had to kick a wall that did not need to be there before in order to make a window somewhat more bearable to play against. If this mechanic is seriously here to stay, there really needs to be some adjustments made to their placement because as it is right now makes it super difficult for normal m1 killers to play without getting frustrated or possibly losing the entire match because of one wall.
-
Yes, please roll back the update. Been playing since October 2018 and this honestly might be my last as well.
-
To those thinking this is a nerf... you're wrong. This is a great buff to object as now I can look at the killer every x amount of seconds and when aura perks proc and the killer more than likely won't get any information from it. Great change for survivors! :)
-
Killers are gunna be hella mad when they find out it is actually stronger with this change because it will be more beneficial for the survivor over the killer.

@HarlowXRaven said:
Dead hard is currently not working they are fixing it lmao. also, no exhaustion perks need reworking sprint burst just makes you faster but you're still able to get hit I hate to say this but maybe get good. also, balance landing is trash tbh unless you're at a map with extreme height I have it on a loadout on one of my characters and I can tell you that many times it is a wasted perk slot looking at this post might be a sign to trade it out tbh. I don't use sprint burst or dead hard but I see other people who use them and there is clearly a counter to them. also dead hard is broken now so try to hit the survivor they will end up exhausted on the ground since the perk has been broken for a while now. I used to be a hardcore sprint burst user when I was new but the downside is that you can't really run until it's time to use that perk unless you have a different button set to activate it. That was maybe 3 years ago I'm a console user btw. also prevent them from the window is undermining the use of the perk which is to prolong the chase if only by some more seconds unless they can get to a pallet and even then you could still down them as the hits are killer sided in ping.
Dead Hard works perfectly fine when you correctly use it. Dead Hard in the open and then going down doesn't mean the perk is broken, it means the survivor used it incorrectly. Everyone says it is broken, yet they still use it every single match. So clearly it isn't broken and works just fine if these survivors continue to use it. "But I got exhausted on the ground!!!" Either you were laggy or the killer was, either way this doesn't mean its broken. It means one of you are lagging.
The Devs always make up excuses as to reason why something is the way it is. You think hit validation is going to solve lag on YOUR screen? Probably not, because what you see and what the other's see is completely different. You might not think you're lagging and it's the Killer when in reality, it could very much be you lagging and not the Killer. If Dead Hard never works, stop using it.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/218425/nerf-exhaustion-perks
This is not about exhaustion perks, this is about you not being good enough to beat survivors who run Sprint Burst and Dead Hard.
Exhaustion perks have been nerfed hard over the years. Thank your lucky stars you weren't playing when Exhaustion regenerated during chase. You could literally run a killer the entire game with old Exhaustion mechanics.
Balanced Landing is a joke today compared to how it used to be. I could run you forever with old Balanced Landing on the right map even after the game-wide Exhaustion nerf. Killers would DC if you burned a Haddonfield offering and then used Balanced Landing on the first chase. Today it is just a mere speed boost to gain distance one time and is inferior to Lithe in almost every way. I find it crazy that you think Lithe is fine but Balanced Landing is not.
Sprint Burst is giving you fits? It can't even be controlled. You have to use it at the start of a chase. It is the weakest of the three haste exhaustion perks (well actually BL is weaker now after nerf). And it forces you to waste time walking around instead of running if you want to conserve its use. If you guard your gens Sprint Burst is a lot less effective. Sprint Burst is only usually usable when a survivor is doing a gen for 40 seconds and you interrupt him at that point (or after being unhooked). Get to gens faster and its usefulness is nullified.
Are you joking lmao. This is 100% about exhaustion perks. I've killed plenty of survivors running these perks because 1. They were not good at chases AT ALL (hence why they run the perk) 2. They don't know how to use Dead Hard correctly. Survivors who aren't good at the game will go down regardless of the perk unless they get super lucky. I've seen survivors completely ignore everything around them because they had Dead Hard. They ignore tiles, pallets, windows, EVERYTHING and instead choose to incorrectly use Dead Hard and die. The problem I have are good survivors running these perks even though they don't need it. Especially against normal m1 killers on super strong maps.
Sprint Burst is the BEST survivor perk in the game. You are clearly inexperienced if you don't understand why. Initial chase distance can waste so much of a killer's time it is insane. It takes forever to catch up to a survivor using it correctly. Just got unhooked with no BT/DS? Sprint Burst is literally BT and DS packed in one. As soon as you get unhooked, you can normally sprint burst away and make it to a safe area. There are very few instances where you can't do this as a survivor. It can 100% be controlled as well. Fixated, walking, 99'ing your exhaustion. Three ways it can be controlled right there.
I wasn't complaining about BL as much as SB and DH, but it is still very strong on the correct map.
DS and BT are perfectly fine, maybe DS could have a slightly shorter timer, but it doesn't affect my games nearly as much as exhaustion perks do.

@gibblywibblywoo said:
Exhaustion perks are perfectly fine imo. THe only outlier is dead hard (also knows as E to outplay) but even that has its weaknesses. Lithe is OK and Sprint Burst is fine for isolated gens but thats about it. It was broken back before exhaustion existed and when it went down in a chase. But after the removal of cooldown whilst running these perks are more fairly balanced imo. Any further nerfs like increased cooldown or lower speed boost would simply make them less worthwhile and lead to an even more stagnant meta.
Also that sprint burst nerf, to put it into perspective a leatherface can outrun that now with his chainsaw. Remember that if SB is used then the survivor must slowly walk around the map to keep it reserved or risk having a wasted perk if they use it up and get found quickly. And even dead hard isn't that useful if the survivor ends up in an area with an already destroyed pallet or a dead zone.
Personally I think they should have buffed Vigil to make exhaustion work the way it used to (I believe it was cooldown whilst running at 50% of speed. So a 40 seconds cooldown was 80 if running, though I may have the numbers wrong). Vigil has had zero use for going on 3 years now I think.
Yeah... no... Every survivor would run it with sprint burst and you would then see nothing but vigil and sprint burst every match which would make m1 killers even less viable. Exhaustion perks are not okay, maybe if the devs stopped making isolated gens it would solve the problem of a giant dead zone against a killer with a one shot.
Survivors shouldn't get rewarded for bad positioning/making a mistake.

Just read through the DEV Update. Good changes overall, but the Survivor icons need to remain at the bottom of the screen. Where they are placed now they seem to be very distracting and take up valuable space in the Killers FOV that is severely limited to begin with. Same applies to the Gen remaining icon, please reconsider this I beg of you.

Ok, who cares though. Its one game where a survivor MIGHT escape through hatch. This game isn't competitive, so who honestly cares if one guy escapes? A lot of us players value our time and want to move on from matches without being slugged for 4 minutes.

What next you will ask? Suicide while injured? Suicide while repairing a gen?
If you don't like being slugged take some perks to prevent slugging. Unbreakable, Soul guard, maybe even No mither.
Yes, because being slugged on the ground for 4 minutes is the EXACT same thing as being injured and able to run around and freely work on something. Great logic there buddy, keep up the good work.
