  • I got Zarina and Kate's, and contemplating Neas. They're quite nice.

  • Doing my dailies, tome challenges, and the events. I have to give myself a goal that doesn't involve escaping, because that rarely happens. If I have nothing to gain then I have no desire to play.

  • I think it's a big difference personally

  • Yup lol this is what so many killer mains have been freaking out about. A total nothingburger as usual.

This is very lucky. You can usually score one missed hit fairly easily but then the killer regains their sense of distance and doesn't make the same mistake again.

But it's been changed to one missed attack now anyway, so I've got it.

It's not usually all missed hits around the same structure in the same chase. Happens over the course of the game in different spots. It's the best way I've found since I don't know how to 360 on controller. I wish it was only 1 missed hit from the get go, would have been less painful!

  • I did it when it was 3 missed hits. Find a good small structure to run around, pressing yourself as close to it as possible. The killer will typically try a basic hit in that scenario and sometimes they'll miss as the distance can be hard to gauge. I got it against a Singularity, but came close against a Wraith and Chucky (2 missed hits).

I'm sitting around a 20% escape rate with 3.3k hours in the game.

Down 15% from April of last year, and down 25% from 2022.

Dont think I need to say any more.

Yeah my escape rate has dropped drastically since update 6.1. I pretty much just play for tome challenges and events now. They provide the dopamine hit I need lol and I'll clarify that I don't need to escape to enjoy a game, but most games are steamrolls at like 4 gens left. The best games are the close ones, where you don't know which way it's going to go. So even if you die, the fun and excitement was there. This game used to be like that frequently but it isn't anymore. Best I can pinpoint it's matchmaking that needs fixing but who knows.

  • There's already a post in the Report section, they're aware of it and it's being looked into

Peanits's first paragraph implies two things to me.

    1. DS is not to be the solution to tunneling, perhaps there are plans for more anti tunnel perks in the pipeline?
    2. The devs don't think tunneling should be shut down like AFC did for face camping or regression cap for 3 gen stalling. Tunneling is not something new, it's been around for a long time. If devs wanted to shut it down, they wouldn't have to introduce workarounds like OTR, DS, basekit BT etc.

Which leads to the question, "Why can't tunneling be shut down completely? Wouldn't this make the game healthier?"

There is a good likelihood that the answer to the above question is no. The devs are the ones holding all the data, they probably have a pretty good idea of what would happen if tunneling was removed and they do not view this "Non tunnel version of DBD" as a priority, so the next best thing is to introduce bandaids via perks and basekits.

It's not about how to stop tunneling, it's about why tunneling should be stopped.

General consensus seems to suggest that when the tunnelling occurs matters. So tunnelling at 5 gens or when dominating the game is frowned upon, while tunnelling in late game or when the killer is struggling is considered fine. So (my assumption of course) I imagine that the devs probably can't really address tunneling when it frustrates people the most (early game) without it affecting tunnelling in general . Or if they can they might be concerned about the complexities it involves or issues it might cause later down the line.

This is actually why I've always preferred the devs to address certain playstyles with perks (even if that is just a "bandaid"). I know I'm in the minority among survivor mains though, most would rather basekit changes. I don't think these sorts of playstyles need to be eliminated, there just should be some risk attached that the person you decided to tunnel may come equipped to deal with it. Just my 2 cents anyway.

  • Trying to P3 Bill currently. It's pretty rough going after the event that's for sure.

  • 5v5 capture the flag type game would be cool

  • You mean humping on the ground? I get that mostly from Skull Merchants. But Chucky is definitely second on the list

  • There are different departments and employees outside of bug fixing. These people can't just stop working for the bug department lol they'd be out of a job

Yeah, had one just now as well. Some people just have such a big ego that they can't enjoy a meme.

I had one that slugged for the 4k too lol only the one though, so wasn't too bad. But yeah, he took it WAY too seriously for a meme game.

Found one… he basically argues that removing depipping removes a sense of accomplishment & caters to the emotions of " emotionally immature" gamers or something like that.

It's a strange take imo considering all the ways you have no control over a depip, especially as survivor.

I can understand this perspective from someone whose life revolves around the game. If it's your job/source of income, then you tend to view things a bit different to those who just see this game as, well, a game lol a source of fun and a bit of a time waster when bored. It's not fun for the game to be like 'hey you did pretty bad' when most of the time it's outside of your control. Likewise, I'm sure alot of people don't view pips as "accomplishments." To me, pips are just ticking all the boxes.

  • @YmPrat said:

Not a bug, depipping is removed in the midchapter

    @MarbleThrone said:

This was true for the Lights Out mode as well. It's not necessarily a bug since you are still playing a public match of DBD. But in the next mid chapter update, depipping will be removed entirely so this will not be a thing for much longer.

Yeah but you could unhook, heal, and therefore pip in Lights Out. There's little you can do in this event to even safety pip. I'm doing gens until found and downed/sacrificed and it's just depips every game. That doesn't feel intentional to me.

  • @ShyPirate I was one pip from iri 3 and went back two lol can confirm, it sucked 🤣

  • Yeah... this is such a cute modifier but 2 games in and 2 depips 🥺 can't unhook obviously so how do we safety pip?

  • Yeah I won't play much until the Anniversary. A permanent increase would be good. They had 150% for survivor during Lights Out and apparently not even that was enough as Mathieu apparently said in an interview that most people went back to the regular game early. They have the bonus bp depending on role needed, maybe increase it to 200%?

  • I'm a survivor main and honestly not bothered by these two. They make it harder to get gens done, sure, but that's their purpose and if the team makes good use of their time then you're good. They don't stall gens, just slow them down.

    That's what bewilders me.

We're not advocating for tunneling, any sane killer who wants the game to be enjoyable for everyone would be happy if tunneling was less of a necessary feeling, but we're pointing out a problematic combination that does have a massive effect on the pace of a match and is being used in a way the perks weren't intended.

It's the same as 3-gens or facecamping was in my opinion. A problematic playstyle that was made worse with the right perk combinations. And even then, not all low MMR players have Decisive Strike, so buffing it does nothing for new survivor players being tunneled.

Except tunnelling is something that happens now, and has been complained about for a long time by a good chunk of the playerbase. All these posts and threads are simply about hypothetical niche scenarios that may or may not happen. You say it has a massive impact on the pacing of the game, yet I never see these threads and complaints. Where are they? If these bodyblocking endurance squads are massively impacting the game then we'd see these complaints everywhere. They've only just started now that DS is getting a buff of a couple seconds. This seems to be simply another knee-jerk reaction, probably as usual thanks to a content creator on youtube, to something that hasn't even happened yet. Wait and see, like everyone had to do with the perfect synergy of perks during the gen kick meta. Like everyone had to do with Grim Embrace + DMS more recently. No one knows how it'll play out yet the killer base is telling BHVR straight up not to do it.

Reminds me of the uproar over Bloodrush tbh, where everyone was listing all these scenarios like OP where it will be used to give multiple DHs etc. No one used it. It didn’t happen. DS will be more popular than Bloodrush obviously, but again, people have been requesting tools against tunnelling for ages. I'd rather BHVR give people tools in the form of perks to address it than something basekit like they ended up doing with face-camping. They gave survivors Reassurance and the killer base complained until it got nerfed and no one used it. Now we have the face-camp mechanic. I just think this playerbase needs to be careful what they wish for.

  • Killers don't have the equivalent to letting go on hook. I think if they're done and in the corner then just finish up and leave. They don't want to play with you guys anymore. We all know what matchmaking is like in this game.

  • @ChaosWam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3689153#Comment_3689153

Most of the arguments aren't for tunneling, it's for survivors weaponizing it to force the killer to tunnel. Especially M1 killers trying to do a chase and end up having someone bodyblock with OTR/DS/UB ready.

Tunneling needed basekit mechanics put in place, or at least force the unhooked survivor to have no collision post-unhook until they do a conspicuous action to counter this behavior.

And yet this weaponising hasn't happened. There's nothing stopping survivors from doing this now, you think a couple extra seconds is suddenly gonna turn the entire survivor base into bodyblocking sweat squads? This playerbase blowing up imaginary scenarios in their heads is my favourite thing, I swear lol if someone is trying to "force" you to tunnel, then I dunno, grant their wish? All the complaints tell me is that current DS is at best a mild inconvenience to killers and at worst useless, and killers dont want that to change. Which tells me this buff is needed.

  • It was actually DS working in endgame that I recall being complained about. When it was nerfed in 6.1 I distinctly remember pretty much unanimous agreement that cutting it down to 3s was overkill. I think it's just the same certain content creators ragebaiting their viewers with imaginary scenarios of an extra 2 seconds suddenly not making tunnelling viable.

  • The dramatics are honestly blowing my mind. You can still tunnel. DS is not basekit. It is a better option now for those who feel they need a better tool to help them remain longer in the game they also paid for in the event the killer wants them out asap. You can still tunnel to your hearts content, there's just a small layer of risk to it now in the event that survivor has DS.

  • Yeah I was actually hoping they'd make some changes to this, to make it new player and console friendly.

  • I play the game out but honestly I half-ass it. I have no energy when I see it's her. If I escape it's a win but if I die it's also a win. It's been awhile since I've had a team mate DC against her though, wonder if you were playing with a 3man swf who'd had enough SM for the day

  • DS hasn't worked in endgame for a couple years now

  • Because I think they're cursed at the moment. Every time I decide to throw up BPS or an anniversary cake, everyone is dead at 4/5 gens. So I'm just using escape cakes.

  • Probably because most of us accept the game is over whenever a bot is involved anyway. Even the devs discount games where people DC, ie they don't count any kills or escapes in their rates for that match. Presumably because if they did then kill rates would be higher than they currently are, since they acknowledge losing a team mate is detrimental to the team's success. So those games, as far as I'm concerned, are null and void. Just good for getting bp.

There's no sense to be found here. DS is literally a perk the killer has to deliberately play into to give it value, and it only works once per game.

We're just seeing the doom posting from people who don't want to have to think about literally anything during gameplay. They're afraid they're going to blunder into a perk and maybe, possibly have consequences for just mindlessly tunneling the first survivor they found. The horror.

Exactly. All these knee-jerk scenarios they're running through their heads can easily be done today, with current DS. Only difference is current DS can't guarantee reaching a resource (ie it's useless unless used in the right spot) to now maybe allowing a survivor to reach a resource. And people claiming it's the same as old DS are plain wrong. Old DS didn't cancel on conspicuous actions and was allowed in endgame to pretty much guarantee an escape.

For 3 seconds? I'd probably review that after the PTB - depending on feedback.

Don't forget that it reveals auras of those within the terror radius, most of which average (iirc) about 32m. So they're within easy catch up distance of the killer. 15s would be understandable if they were on the other side of the map, though even Lethal Pursuer gives less than that when survivors and killers start on opposite sides and it's usually enough time for the killer to latch onto a survivor. 3s is fine when so close to each other.

I'm surprised to see that people didn't really hear a week or two ago that momoseventh, a comp player that mains blight, lost a 1947 game winstreak to a team running 4 OTR and 3 DS. The perk is absolutely meta even against S tiers, and if comp didn't enforce unique perks on survivors you would see it on everyone or nearly everyone in scrims. It's super strong.

I record my games on nightlight and decisive strike is the 10th most popular survivor perk that I run into when I play killer. That's for a reason - it's really good! This is at higher mmr though, I'm a p100 blight main so my games are against the strongest survivors matchmaking is willing to give me, which is not saying much lol. In my survivor games I've been playing with brand new friends and DS is definitely not a popular pick in low mmr

It took him 1947 games to run into 4 OTRs and 3 DSs? I think you'll be fine

  • Yeah most don't realize this. I did just have a game against Xeno now though where thankfully everyone placed them in between tiles and the poor killer seemed to spend most of the game out of their power 😭 it was like an obstacle course that kept getting replaced

If a survivor gets unhooked and then healed, will it be possible for them to offensively body block the killer, and combo OTR into DS into DH?

    1 health state for OTR

2 health states to knock the survivor to the ground

    1 health state for DS

    1 health state for DH

Is this correct? Will survivors be able to chain 5 health states together?

OTR doesn't give you an endurance hit once you're healed. So you'd be injuring, then downing that survivor like you'd do a regular non-OTR gamer once they're healed. Then they can get their DS.

  • I know you play a lot with minimal breaks, any chance you're just hearing things from playing so much? Kind of like when a song gets stuck in your head? I'm hopping on soon so will test it out with headphones because now I'm curious lol

  • No. Even when I use meta perks I'm usually dead by the time the game ends. So I prefer to use non-meta unless I'm doing a challenge or tome that using a meta perk will help me complete faster.

  • I'm not sure what you were expecting. Tunnelling is one of the most common complaints. The devs were always going to address it. Now either they address it with something basekit like they did for face camping, or they give survivors their own means of countering it via perks. Basekit means tunnelling will be pretty much taken off the table as a strat. Perks simply add a layer of risk. The latter is obviously preferable. You can still tunnel, you just take the risk that that survivor has something up their sleeve to help them along.

    @Yagot said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3687823#Comment_3687823

What? DS is comfortably meta at the moment. It's an S tier perk already, so that's why it's strange to see it getting buffs

It fell out of meta after 6.1. One of the biggest complaints at the time was it being used in endgame, which was removed in 6.1. Most people agreed the 5s time didn't need to be adjusted and the perks nerf was overkill. All this buff looks like to me is the devs finding the middle ground between old and new that they should have settled on in 6.1.

  • Re UW, I actually thought all it needed was a longer cooldown. It removed any sort of game sense when it could be activated all game long. I do hate the screaming though, it's probably the worst sound in the game and the main reason I don't wear headphones (along with chronic ear problems) so I can't pretend I'm not happy that that is gone..

  • I think it's fair. They acknowledge the drop time taking away from the duration, which is true. That's now accounted for.

  • I honestly didn't think it would happen, so it was such a pleasant surprise when I read the update

  • No more depipping!!!?? 🥹

  • I wiggle every time. If you don't then they get their pick of hooks, including Scourge hooks.

  • They're a pretty popular request. I stopped watching way back in season 4 but I'd love to see a "#########" and "jerk" between them in the lobby

  • No. I think it helps though to recognize that at the end of the day this is a game, and other real life people are playing it *with* you. If you are going to be unpleasant, then don't be surprised if people choose not to play with you. That goes for everyone in multiplayer games, regardless of which role you play.

  • I originally thought the Iron Will and decreased blood pools were useless, but then I realized how good they were if playing stealthy. I could let go of a gen and crouch, while injured, and the killer would walk past without seeing me. I even had a few instances like in the clip below where I didn't try hide (the Nea left the third person to die on hook right near her so I didn't care if I got caught at that stage) and still confused the killer. But overall I enjoyed the bp gains. Having changed platforms last January, I'm still playing catch up with my lesser used characters.

    Watch "unnamed" on Streamable.

  • I've noticed most people who use DS use DH with it. I'm assuming because they'll get the stun and since the killer can now catch up quite easily, the DH comes into play to extend.

If we're judging rank based off stomping new players then Hag and Trapper is about S rank cause new players don't even look down long enough to see the traps, let alone disarming or remembering the locations of traps. I think The Unknown is mid at best. Playing against him is boring and is hardly different from any other m1 killer and playing as him sucks cause his power is even more buggy than Knight and its annoying, plus his perks aren't interesting. It's just slightly better TofT, slightly worse Superior Anatomy, and a perk handcrafted for Doctor's impossible skill check build. Otherwise they are all nothing burgers. This update had an interesting survivor/survivor perks, an pretty awesome map, and a meh killer.

Not ranking based on stomping new players at all. I'm responding to OPs buff ideas. OP felt his UVX power needs a buff, and I was trying to point out that doing so will just predominantly affect newer or less experienced players. More experienced players will still adapt.
