The video was not just about how Hook times being buffed added 80sec of extra time to do gens (which kind of invalidated the gen time increase), heal or whatever but that was not the only point made.

But this is exactly what's so out of touch. How on earth do you get 80 extra seconds of gen time? Every extra second a survivor's left on the hook is -less- gen progress, not more. It's more pressure on the survivors, too. It's bizarre to think of this as some overpowered survivor tool when it's only beneficial if the killer is camping. In other cases, it's in the survivors' best interests to rescue as soon as reasonably possible, to get more hands on gens.

Outside of that, the only salient points it made is that Franklin's got nerfed (which, imo, is relatively minor) and that Conviction is too strong. Jumping straight to 'survivor secretly OP' is nonsense.

Exactly. This is common sense. Survivors are essentially a 3v1 if they leave team mates on hook for the full 70s. Next they'll be told tunnelling is to their benefit too lol

Plenty of heads to choose from. And they can come up with a million pretty hairstyles lmao with customizable organs.

Smokers lungs and a cough maybe? lol

  • I dont mind either way. I'm not playing because of queue times but I've got other games to keep me occupied so it's not an issue for me. Ill have a nice chunk of Rift quests to keep me busy when I come back.

But who knows if thats what itl be lol

The only thing that makes me doubt this is that it kind of removes the possibility of new cosmetics. They could get creative of course but options would be limited. It would feel like an unusual decision from a business perspective. I dunno.

  • For me, no. I get the odd very difficult game but that's always been the case, so I'm used to it and always know when I'm due for one.

After the battle everyone is general.

He can if he wants others advice on what he could do better. On the other hand all depends like when i play mediocre killer like springtrap and I miss few shots then these 2-3 missies can be difference between 2k or 1k and somethimes 0k so depends or when I play as ghoul Im forced to run hard meta because survivors usualy run it too and now they can throw the game and kill thmeselfs on the hook so they rush hard like this was competitive with 1 milion dollars as price and this was final round.

Mmr works but we cant deny that sometimes you will get people above your mmr because there arent other players close to theirs mmr and game has some mmr pools where when are you in the highes and someone has higher you can still play against someone with example 2250 mmr points when yours is 1300 because the highest cap is 1250 (made up numbers just for example).

You'd be hardpressed to find anyone here who hasn't asked for an MMR overhaul. But a mismatched MMR goes both ways - youll get your more experienced teams that steamroll you, but on the flipside you also get your less experienced in teams that you steamroll in turn. Neither are fun. OP has said they are consistently having losses, with 4 slowdowns needed for 1 kill, and hard tunnelling, camping, and slugging necessary for 2 kills. That's unusual, even accounting for the shoddy MMR system.

  • Can you record a game for us? People will be able to give better advice

  • I love its gurgling

  • I prefer 1v4. Killer queues are way too long when 2v8 is on

  • I hope they haven't given up on indoor maps. I know theyre not the most popular maps but they're a good change of scenery and offer variety. We also had an opportunity for a castle map with Knight but instead got Shattered Square 🤮

  • All the new players who joined for the FNAF chapter would bring his killrate down

  • A Singularity made me get mine awhile ago lol he sacrificed the third survivor then carried me to the last gen and hit it to tell me to finish it. I did, then he downed me and carried to the exit gate (shook his head at hatch as we passed it). He was adamant i get that achievement lol it was really nice of him

Why is it always that toxic Survivors are just the pure evil and toxic Killers are only toxic because they had a frustrating match before this?

Both sides have toxic people. Toxic DBD-players are toxic because they are toxic, not because they play "role I currently dont play".

Yup. And people also conveniently forget that a decent chunk of this playerbase plays both sides. This 'toxic survivor creates a toxic killer (or vice versa)' argument is pointless when the toxic survivor you faced earlier in the day is probably the same toxic killer you just faced now. Toxic players will be toxic no matter which role they play. I can honestly say that I've had my fair share of BM directed at myself over the years, and never once has it influenced me to go on and display BM to other players. That ######### has to exist within you to begin with.

  • I get the occasional 4 man out but it's rare, and it's always because theyre simply the better players so I cant be mad. I win the majority of my games, and the times I dont win are typically a draw (2k). The game isnt designed to constantly give you strong teams, so if you are losing to even the mediocre teams then it's likely your gameplay. Feel free to record a game and post it, people here will give you advice. Since you mentioned chase, it could simply be something like you overcommitting to chase. Knowing when to drop chase is a skill in itself. There's no such thing as a perfect player in this game. We all have weaknesses and we all make mistakes. Some people use perks to supplement where they are weakest, while others work on improving in that area.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss x

  • I think it's so they land exactly in the direction theyre pointing and dont get backflipped etc

  • Loved Fast Track back when I played survivor, but i never saw anyone else using it. Definitely slept on

  • There's a thing called 'comp corner' where you buy everyone a few extra seconds by running to a far corner, also since usually it takes a second or two longer for the killer to get to a hook from there. That doesn't really work in 2v8 though obviously since there aren't any hooks. So probably just someone who watches too many streamers.

  • Legion is a popular pick for newer players so I'm not surprised you're seeing them alot. They're pretty easy to learn. For that reason I can't see them being removed.

    Your name can be read.
This is probably because you don't have the "hide your name" setting enabled.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/G8L774H1OBYH/volar.png

Try talking to yourself in the survivor lobby.
You will notice that your name changes depending on whether "hide your name" is on or off.

Also, your player name in the top right-hand corner of the screen will change to "You."
Your name displayed in the friends list will also be "You."
This feature is a setting for streamers.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/D4OOEV4DBGXW/leon.png

The 'hide your name' setting is indeed for streamers, but purely so viewers can't stream snipe. Viewers can see what the streamer sees, hence it hides the name, including in chat. Anonymous mode is supposed to be so everyone else can't see your name.

  • It wouldn't work as a primary power against swfs but a secondary one would be okay. Might get you close enough for a hit or down. It would still be alot more oppressive against solo players though. It'd get you a guaranteed hit/down against them.

  • Were you livestreaming? Maybe a stream sniper?

  • It's the only chance folks get to play killer with a friend

  • I havent even tried playing killer in 2v8. Honestly seems like it's more trouble than its worth. Anyone know how the queues are in 1v4? Planning to play once i get home

  • Stranger Things, Silent Hill, and Saw would be great to have follow ups to

Ive made a conscious effort not to because of this lol

Yes, I sometimes find myself consciously going through and removing them because I don't want people to think ChatGPT wrote it 🤣

    dashes (hyphens?)

The names are often used interchangeably because of how similar they look, but technically there is a difference.

Hyphens are the shortest (-) and primarily used to join words together, indicating that multiple words are acting together in a sentence. A good example is "fancy-looking car". The hyphen tells us that both "fancy" and "looking" are describing the car. If we omit the hyphen, then the phrase could be misinterpreted as meaning a "looking car" is fancy — perhaps that's some new model of car that the writer is referring to? The hyphen makes sure the sentence is interpreted correctly, although they often gets omitted because native English speakers tend to be able to parse the meaning out anyways, even if there's some uncertainty.

En dashes are roughly the length of the letter n (–), and are used to indicate ranges. E.g. 2016–2025.

Em dashes are the longest — about the legnth of the letter m — and are used in a variety of ways. Most commonly for emphasis, or to offset additional information in a sentence, as I did in the previous sentence.

Thanks for the info! Good to know 😊

It's a tip that circulates on social media every so often, particularly TikTok but has also cropped up on sites like Wikipedia. Allegedly, you can tell text was AI generated if there's a lot of em dashes or other "uncommon" punctutation like semicolons or ellipses. The rationale being that they're unusual punctutation for humans to include in everyday writing like texts, e-mails, job applications etc. And I think there is a degree of logic to that, however, people often incorrectly extend the advice to creative writing too, where such punctuation is actually common and always has been. Especially where amateur creative writing is concerned.

Sadly, this has lead to a a fair few comments on popular fics asking "Is this AI?", or social media call-out posts of authors being "exposed" for using AI and other such nonsense.

Ive heard this too. As someone who uses dashes (hyphens?) Ive made a conscious effort not to because of this lol

  • Can't believe this is even a thing people do. Wow

I'm hoping it's just the outage and not an unfortunate side effect of the "play while you wait" feature. One of my concerns was getting into a lobby as Survivor and then waiting for the Killer to finish their own Survivor game before we could start our match.

I've seen people report the survivor lobby shows up as 10/8 until the killers join, so it could be a factor

  • Lol no thanks, I dont need the game to be that easy for me

  • I'm not confident but i play similarly because i dont take the game (or myself) too seriously. I'm also a sucker for being serenaded by Bardic Inspiration. I don't enjoy farming at all though, I just have no problem playing favourites lol

Not to be a jerk, but welcome to the Internet. None of these things are new. We shouldn't tolerate them and for the most part we don't. It's almost always unstable and/or very young people sending those sorts of messages out.

But… and even the police will tell you this… you have to know the difference between actionable threats and hollow threats. These people are just talking smack and trying to upset you. You have to learn how to be an adult and not let it affect you.

How do you tell the difference though? Is it only when someone kills someone else that it becomes actionable? Taking perceived hollow threats seriously feels like the best preventative measure imo

I always mix them up; is it spooknjukes that's the toxic one, or was that spookyloops? I faced the toxic one I genuinely thought his face camping GF was a bot

Definitely not Spookyloops, he seems like he has a heart of gold. I'm pretty sure Spooknjukes was the one who coined the infamous saying "I'm not responsible for your fun", so that's probably who you faced.

  • I actually never minded Dracula when I played survivor. He was strong but not uncounterable.

  • Nope. Not every swf is seal team 6, nor is every swf on comms. There's also a thing called negativity bias. You'll remember the strong swfs you faced and therefore view every swf like that, but remain ignorant to the fact that you've probably steamrolled countless swfs in the past without second thought.

Frankly, I do not feel that people with visual issues should be catered to at the detriment of everyone else. Video games are an inherently visual medium, if you have eye issues then you know you're going into it with a disadvantage. Sorry. I don't see why the game needs to cater to a tiny minority.

As someone who is literally browsing the forum while waiting for my optometrist appointment because I need an even stronger prescription for my useless eyes, I can honestly say i thankfully had zero issues visually with the fog vials pre-nerf. As a video game enjoyer, it's absolutely up to me to manage my impairments (I'm also hard of hearing). I appreciate every accessibility option the devs implement but I certainly would never expect it.

  • @Metagamer said:

Fog vials were an accessibility issue. It doesn't help that on maps like Dead Dawg they're still (even after the nerfs) somehow completely blinding with this white fog flash bang. So a lot of people are seemingly contradicting each other in their personal experiences with how "oppressive" or "useless" they are despite both sides actually being correct at the same time. I believe even the launch Fog vial + iri addon on Withered Isle maps did basically nothing, whilst like I said even the now nerfed version on Dead Dawg with no iri is a 10m area flashbang.

Also Kaneki is outclassed by Nurse, Blight, Billy and Twins (when they're not bugged to high hell). I think he may need side grades that push his power in a different more skill expressive direction instead of outright nerfs (Making the free injures less free and giving him something to play more with the anti-loop part that isn't vault spam).

Then they need to focus on making the effects consistent across maps. Not just nerf the item into uselessness.

  • Depends how long. 5 minutes sure, 10 minutes would be pushing it. I'd wait but I'd be inclined to only play a game or two before logging off. I'm keen to see what MMR improvements they have coming, but I'm disappointed it's so far away tbh

  • Too unenjoyable for me, i quit survivor a few months back. Ill play it for the specific quests but even then i have to force myself. I'd normally just make my own fun by changing up my builds to keep it fresh, but several months back I lost interest in that even and just sat on the same build. From there, I found I was spending more time playing killer and eventually just stopped queuing for survivor altogether.

Well, if the company doesn't do anything, that's why I'm posting this.. to try to change this, so, for that, we need to get many votes up as possible, so maybe they hear us..

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3984803#Comment_3984803

You are such a lovely guy.. and you have a lot of common sense.. "freedom"? Like, what are you talking about? Insult or harass someone shouldn't be allowed, and, in fact, as you said, it isn't irl, and, somehow, people are defending this to be in the game.. and, again, the solution is not to just disable endgame chat, because I want to meet lovely people like you. Yes, call me weird if you want, but, I want to make FRIENDS in a VIDEOGAME, and not expect to get harassed almost every match.

"Well, if the company doesn't do anything, that's why I'm posting this.. to try to change this, so, for that, we need to get many votes up as possible, so maybe they hear us.."

Absolutely. And hopefully they crack down harder on this stuff. But that doesn't help you in the meantime.

  • @Angel97x said:

Honestly, what I’m reading here is just pathetic. That only 1% is toxic, that people enjoy the trash talking, that the solution to not being harassed, insulted, and threatened is to completely isolate yourself from the game’s social environment, and that the company won’t do anything—what kind of nonsense is this? I’ve been playing this game since 2016, we all know the kind of community we have (just look at the balance discussions), and obviously it’s the company that MUST take action. Enough of defending this crap.

"and that the company won’t do anything"

But they won't. If you've been playing since 2016 then you'd know that. The crap OP is dealing with is unacceptable, but when have you ever seen people come to the forums or on social media complaining that they've been permanently banned because of endgame chat? Maybe it happens but I'm yet to see it. If someone was telling me repeatedly to unalive myself or get cancer or be assaulted, etc etc, that would wear on my mental health badly. I can see it's wearing on OP badly. So yes, removing yourself from ingame communications *is* a perfectly reasonable course of action. Because we might be waiting another 10 years for the company to crack down on this stuff, and what would help OP in the meantime?

  • Honestly, turn off chat. If you're only getting one nice comment every 20 games then it doesn't seem like you have any reason to keep it on. Play anon mode, enjoy your games, and remain blissfully ignorant of any and all salt. And i truly dont mean to come off as dismissive or anything, it's just a slim to none chance that those folk will ever get banned by BHVR, so you need to look after yourself.

  • Just checked and yeah, Week 11 has disappeared

oh so this is a straight up lie. I was an avid TCM player and can say with experience it made TCM 1000000% times better and majority of the time if someone didnt speak, you ask them to speak and they spoke. dont just come on here lying to people man.

TCM relies alot less on sounds than DBD does. Not being able to hear Dredge slithering or Myers breathing or Ghostface's cloak flapping or Pig growling or the Devour Hope hex totem burning because your team mate loves the sound of their own voice will get old fast, trust me.

  • @BlackJimmy88 said:

I’m about 3k hours, and I still bumble a lot of my chases. Some of us just learn slower.

It’s only around 2k where I finally started having matches where I managed to do well, and even those are partially dumb luck, I think.

Playing Killer helps, as well. Mr TatorHead’s map specific looping guides help, but more so just watching him play. Kyoto’s fairly recent “36 Things you should NEVER do As Survivor” helped me with some things too.

Also recommend MrTatorhead's looping guides. He doesn't cherry pick his chases either, like most content creators do. If he stuffs up or something goes wrong on a loop, he'll show that too. Because no one is perfect and everyone gets outplayed.

  • Swfs would create code words to communicate that the killer wouldn't understand, and solo queue would either not bother talking and if they did would just lie about their location etc and confuse not just the killer but their team mates too.

  • Only slowdown i use is Corrupt, no gen regression, and i mostly play killers without fast map traversal (Chucky, Myers, Pig). My perk focus is mostly on shortening chase. If i can always keep rotating hooks, then it keeps survivors off gens (ie one on hook, one in chase, one going for the unhook/heal, and only one on gens). Pig is probably my favourite killer right now, and she comes with great passive slowdown (traps) too. Knowing when to drop chase is important in this aspect too, as I'll still need to apply pressure on the others in the event that someone is running me too well. The rest won't just sit around twiddling their thumbs.

Gen regression perks and tunnelling is perhaps the path of least resistance for alot of players (and generally hyped as the go-to) but it's certainly not the only way to play and be successful. If map pressure is tricky then by all means stick to what feels best for you. Also, if you don't play survivor already then definitely do so. That knowledge is the best weapon you can have as killer, it makes your opponents movements alot more predictable.

  • Just ignore it. Most badges are pretty forgettable anyway.
