I think it might be that only really good killer players are playing Skull Merchant. Kind of like a challenge mode.
Probably. Iirc she has a crazy low pickrate so it must be a dedicated few keeping her alive

Surely Skull Merchant being so high on the lethality list shows just how much the go next mentality actually affects kill rate stats?
Crazy to see Legion popularity despite being considered one of the weaker killers.
I wonder why the difference in overall in kill rate despite the percentage of games where the last gen is completed being almost the same? Maybe there are more games thrown at the end due to altruism?
Re Skull Merchant, this came up last time we got stats and the devs confirmed they could differentiate the kills that happened because someone let go on hook

Japanese survivors act on the assumption that all survivors have self-care. Survivors who do not have self-care will signal their teammates by bending and stretching nearby to receive treatment. I'm starting to worry that people think Japanese people are the kind of people who abandon their teammates, so I'm writing this just in case.
Do you think Wraith being the most picked killer is the reason for Self-Care being so popular? Since his speciality is spreading injuries? Was just curious
Edit: just saw ranbuta's comment where they addressed this

I've noticed Asian Survivors aren't better at looping, they just stick to gens. There isn't really any altruistic play at all. Likewise, the Killers don't tunnel or camp.
Makes sense why the KR is lower. Killers aren't playing up to their potential and Survivors don't care about each other lol.
I'm in Western Australia, which often puts me into the SEA server. I've said for years that tunnelling wasn't ever as prevalent in my games as it seems to be in others, so my experience has always aligned with tunnelling not being a thing over there. It absolutely happens but I'm talking like once in every dozen games. Having said that, I don't play survivor outside of quests anymore so maybe things have changed.

I hated doing that challenge.
As survivor, I've seen killers who will drop everything and immediately go into the Void if a survivor enters it, and… yeah, I've used that to distract killers. I feel a bit guilty doing it, but when you're playing solo you take what openings you see (it's like mind gaming but without the interaction). BHVR shouldn't give survivors so much power over a killer's challenge.
Lol just read your post after I'd posted mine. Don't feel guilty, it's clever gameplay. But yes it sucks 🤣
-
It's definitely do-able by the time the event finishes but I don't really enjoy quests that I can't do passively. The survivors that do go in tend to wait until I'm in chase with someone else, so I need to abandon chase to enter the void. Then once they've picked up on this, some use it as a clever distraction lol

I have noticed things like bus on gasheaven instead of the truck with that window or double pallet set up with two wondows on pale rose that loop under the end of the paltform which leads to that loop with one pallet made from two ship wracks and then this one leads to shack, or some places had few more paletts in one spot then they should have.
Yeah there's other maps, but I'm referring specifically to the maps that OP played on in his screenshot

Top ten as in survivors en mass manipulating the kill rate stats by giving up mid game so the statistic still counts. Yea, she's in the top ten alright.
The devs already clarified last year re Skull Merchant's kill rates that they can differentiate between actual kills and people letting go

Okay but then what's the point of this comparison if it's not even "high MMR"?
Looks like it was just some data for Japanese players, showing them how they compare overall to the rest of the world's playerbase.
Unless I'm misunderstanding your question
-
I could be wrong but i think only around 4 of those maps were given the extra pallets (Ormond, Blood Lodge, FCC, and Suffocation Pit). I haven't really noticed a difference in the others.
-
Thanks for sharing! I'm just gonna say that i love seeing Pig in the top 5 deadliest killers because I play her quite alot and have plenty of success despite people constantly calling her weak. Yes, her kit isn’t as overloaded in comparison to alot more recent killers, but she holds her own.

The 48% is specifically high MMR, so it's probably more comparable to the overall stat of 41%. Plus your one is over the course of 3 months while OPs is over the course of 12 months. So some differences there.

I used google translate (it failed) but I assume top one is % of players playing that role and bottom one is escape rate
Yeah i think you're right.
So in Japan:
- solo is 54% of the playerbase with an average escape of 44%
- 2-man is 24% of the playerbase with an average escape of 44%
- 3-man is 12% of the playerbase with an average escape of 44%
- 4-man is 10% of the playerbase with an average escape of 46%
The rest of the world:
- Solo is 41% of the playerbase with an average escape of 38%
- 2-man is 32% of the playerbase with an average escape of 37%
- 3-man is 16% of the playerbase with an average escape of 38%
- 4-man is 11% of the playerbase with an average escape of 40%

Jamie Lee Curtis is proud of being part of the Halloween franchise, and always gives it credit for giving her the career she has. I don't think she would have any objections to her likeness being used. Its a matter of cost. Same as with Sigourney Weaver as Ripley. The reason Dbd's Ripley looks nothing like her isn't because Weaver hates the Alien Franchise (she doesn't). Its because it would be very pricey to get her likeness.
It's not necessarily about their feelings towards their franchises, but perhaps more about not wanting to see their likeness attached to such graphic and pointless deaths. Weaver was in the Alien: Isolation game but iirc she only agreed because she loved the idea of Amanda getting to connect with her mother. So it seems she's definitely not adverse to giving her likeness, but she wants it to be used with purpose.
-
They were trying to address deadzones by spawning extra pallets. Worked out well for some maps but not so much others.
-
I don't mind Badham in either role, but miss me with Hawkins 😑 I've had that and Nostromo way too much

I wish. Mine are currently 1-2 min.

I love how I'm being downvoted for the notion that the horror game should be tense. You're literally proving my point.
Once you play for a few weeks, that feeling inevitably goes away. It's natural and there's nothing that can be done about that. People don't stay scared of something forever, they outgrow it. At the end of the day, this is a game and people play games for the dopamine hit that winning gives them. When theyre not getting that hit they move on to find it somewhere else. It's as basic as that.

Feels more like a "festival" with all the bright colors instead of horror… I like the void concept, but I think it would be interesting to be transported to a darker world, like Freddy's nightmare world or Silent Hill or so many more choices… Setting would be kind of like the "black out/hide and seek" game mode that they never queue up anymore. But the point is, it would be dark, horrific, scary, and feel less of an obligation because there would be much to explore. Especially if they decided to put objectives in that world.
i.e: mirroring world's and what you do can effect the real such as gens, breaking pallets, opening chests. However, being so dark and having the horror aspect, it's a way more risky for survivors. Gen repair speeds are slowed down, opening chests, slowed down, cleansing and blessings slowed down. Killers break gens, pallets, walls, and snuff totems faster,. Enough to make it scary and balanced. Both are effected by limited sight and no killer stain or scratch marks, no aura reading, and terror radius reduced or non existent unless killer is stalking you or looking in your direction (line of sight). To give that ominous… "where are they coming from?" chill. When hooking, you stay in that world for one hook stage, if your teammates fail to get you by then, you are "pulled" back into reality. This will also mean camping bar will need to be sped up and range expanded as well to deter camping and encourage hunting. (it IS an event by the way; still want to have fun and gain points.)
The setting will be a lot riskier for survivors but much bigger rewards. (Finish cleansing a totem/blessing Bloodpoint reward increased by 200%, Gen complete BP increase 500%, unhook survivor and heal in alt reality increase BP 1000% (to encourage unhooking), and Chest opened: very rare or an event item WITH visceral and very rare add ons.)
Killers would get bigger rewards too. Find a survivor BP increase 200%, hit survivor BP increase 300%, down survivor 400%, hook survivor 500%, Kill survivor (not including by bleed out) BP increase 1000%. Tunneling and or camping decreases the percentage gained. (Again, to encourage hunting and fun gameplay because it is an event)
There would be other objectives too, keep the void crystals but turn the smoke into an actual smoke color. Haunts keep but make more sinister.
I don't know, I'm just spit balling ideas off the top; but I know someone somewhere will pick this apart and have a huge problem with it one way or another. but you can't please everyone. I just think it would be a really cool alternative and make this game horror again.
Oh man, how awesome would a Silent Hill Halloween event be??

@Unimatrix00 said:
I can almost guarantee BHVR is going to have to nerf the quests a bit, unless it wants people bitching about not being able to complete the 15 hooks in the void or the X number of gens completed by crystal. Both are a stupid slog, the crystal is extremely slow at doing a gen and no one else can work on the gen while it's there. I mean, it's nice that it passively completes progress, but at the same time it isn't fast enough to finish the gen before the match ends.
I doubt they will. The 15 void hooks thing is annoying because it's not easy to do passively, but it is very possible to finisg by the end of the event. And you only have to attach the crystal, it doesn't have to complete the gen.
-
I know it's not what you want to hear, but i literally just chase them out. It's not an issue for me in the slightest.
-
Double check that this page is all connected. Mine never stays connected, I have to redo it all every time there's new drops
-
The hardest part is the games where absolutely no one goes in. I have to slog through an ordinary game lol I could do that in normal mode. Then the survivors who do go in, typically do so once I've started a chase with someone else. So I have to abandon chase to try and quickly catch them in there, and most have grabbed their prize and dipped by then.

Thank you for posting this, Nazzzak, otherwise I wouldn't even know to look out for this email. Much appreciated.
No worries! I had the same issue a couple years back. Signed up under a few emails but still nothing. Eventually contacted Support and they confirmed only one of my emails was subscribed (??) and they weren't sure why I wasn't getting anything, but since then I've been getting the emails so I'm guessing maybe they did something on their end?
-
I'm gonna hop on and try once I get the kids off to school, but I literally remember this same issue last year where no one was going in the voids. Should at least be hook 5 people

I'd play survivor, get wrecked by the "usual suspects" then play against a baby killer and feel bad for them. Repeat.
Playing killer, similar story. I'd play a few games and get absolutely humbled then slaughter a bunch of survivors who panic the second they hear the terror radius. Repeat.
I haven't had a truly close game in a long time, it's just constant "stomp or be stomped" and that's exhausting, at least for me.
Yup. The most enjoyable games for me are the ones where it could go either way. Those games are sadly rare.
-
Just lack of enjoyment, i guess. I still play, because at least with killer if I get bored i simply play a different one. I don't really have it in me to play survivor for fun anymore. I generally let the survivor specific quests build up a bit and then I smash them out over an afternoon, but that's pretty much the extent of it for me.

Yes, the que time for killers have decreased, it used to be 8-10 minutes, now it's 2
Yesterday at 7 PM, the que time for survs were 2 minutes, and for killers like 6 seconds
Playing on killers has become more difficult because of palletes density (not just my opinion)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZT7ct2spIk
Also, there's some crazy stuff happening with matchmaking/generators repair speed (my opinion)Dead by Queue confirms it's purely by time of day. If you look at it afternoon vs evening per region, you'll see the times switch. Survivors have the longer queues in the evening while killers have longer queues in the afternoon.
-
Thank you!
-
It's always been dependent on time of day for me. During the day (when I play) it's generally a few minutes for killer and instant for survivor. At night, it's instant for killer and a few minutes for survivor.
Ill add that I'm in Australia

As far as the tunneling reduction system is concerned, the only thing that really needed to remove was the removal of the blocking or regressing gens if a Survivor dies before six hooks. That may have taken it one step too far. Aside from that, the system was fine, IMO.
My feelings exactly. I do understand that the blocking etc was purely so a 3v1 is no longer simply a loss, that the 3 survivors do still have a chance. That's still necessary but ill leave the devs to work out the logistics on that one.
Re anti-slug, I actually thought it was fine to release as is and then make adjustments later (the primary pain point, based on feedback i saw, seemed to be the basekit tenacity).

Because we’ve had multiple people on these forums, admitting to frequently ragequitting, or admitting they have a friend that frequently ragequits.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4014108#Comment_4014108
Making a thread doesn’t work, because it will get derailed by people telling us the problems aren’t real.
And we’re even being told in this thread that ragequitting isn’t a real problem. And if people create threads to complain about ragequitters, they get derailed too.Notice the theme here? Anything survivors do is “not a problem”
So you're aware of how much it sucks, yet made it your own personal mission to do the same to other threads?

@Coffeecrashing said:

Judging by community feedback, bully squads aren’t a problem because it’s fun for survivors. It’s like how killers can’t complain about generator speeds, without people telling them that gen rushing is a hyper specific thing, and they weren’t “really” being gen rushed.
And remember that a lot of ragequitting threads get closed for breaking forum rules, and a lot of comments about ragequitting get closed for breaking forum rules.
And are you seriously saying you don’t see people over exaggerating the Go Next false positives? You don’t see people saying things like “I can’t believe people keep getting punished for getting tunneled out of the game”????
Go Next should be allowed to be more harsh, without people constantly complaining that it “already has too many false positives”.
The thread was started regarding the anti-tunnel and anti-slugging changes. You derailed it into ragequitting. Now you're derailing it into bully squads. You can't just make your own threads about those topics?
-
@AmpersandUnderscore said:
I'm just going to jump in and point out something about the forums meta here.
This thread. Right here. It's exactly the problem with discussing anything about tunneling.
It applies to far, far more, but you can look at the history of posts on this forum, and every single time recently that there's been a thread gaining traction about survivor issues (which is usually tunneling) we get this:
A completely derailed thread from a small handful of extremely loud and insanely biased (to the point of being just rage bait) commenters who take a thread about "when are we getting the postponed changes" into "punish them harder".
Which wouldn't be so frustrating, except this is the exact kind of tactic that gets anti tunneling pulled (effectively cancelled for all we know at this point) on day 2, and also could get "go next" tuned up to punish even more innocent players with penalties.
You simply cannot have a discussion about this problem because a few people just have to do this:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9UHBRD7C9SCN/1000010969.jpg
And they'll just keep doing it because it's worked for years.
It's always been like this with threads about survivor concerns. People who don't even touch the role can't stay in their lanes. I remember having this exact same conversation a couple of years ago.

Nope. I’m not going to entertain this garbage false positive theory, that’s so rare that it literally takes over two months to get one single video evidence of it happening. The false positives aren’t happening often enough for me to care.
There’s nothing preventing people from purposely trying to enter the ragequitting queue. As long as they are banned from being in my games, I don’t care what they are doing in the ragequitting queue.
What about those of us who don't see alot of ragequitting? They're so far and few between in my games that a ragequitting queue seems like overkill to me. Last one I had was when Krasue was released, and I'm assuming it was because they wanted to see the new killer and I was playing Freddy

Same. I actually have been doing better as killer because people let themselves be zoned into these super unsafe edge pallets just to get downed.
I alternated between killer and survivor Saturday afternoon to get an idea of the pallet changes from both sides. I obviously didnt get all the maps but of the ones I did, it was really only Father Campbell's Chapel that I felt a noticeable difference on. I got that one as survivor and the killer seemed to have a rough go of it.

I used to buy $15-$30 auric cells a fortnight, so never had to recycle. I stopped buying cosmetics a few months back so haven't needed to buy cells, so if I get this Rift Pass it will be recycled for sure.

i think the lobby dodging could also be fixed (maybe) by removing survivor items from the lobby screen, but i dont know how the community would react to this, devs love the whole "not knowing what you're versing" idea so im confused why they werent hidden from the beginning
im also surprised they havent added a toggle to make flashlight blinds dark instead of blindingly bright by now
A toggle would definitely be the easiest solution. I'd be down for that
