Points and ranking up. Sad but true.
That's a shame, the ranking system needs reworking then if this behaviour is essentially being rewarded. We just had the rank reset and in the space of two games I went from Rank 8 (pre reset) to Rank 10 - I don't actually really care much about rank as it happens, but it's incredibly annoying that I am being punished for teammates bad play.
Of course you could argue that I should 'git gud' and shouldn't have been caught and hooked by the killer in the first place - well, I am not a pro so obviously I am going to get hooked sometimes. Especially when a fellow survivor leads the killer directly to me but that's a whole other story!

Something I’ve been experiencing a lot recently is people saving me right under the killers nose without BT, refusing to take a hit and then watching me get downed again. I don’t understand why they’re doing this? Give the killer chance to leave the hook. Why insta-save for me to just get downed again? It makes zero sense. They don’t even get any BP for it, because it’s not a safe hook. I swear so many people who play this game don’t actually know how perks / points work lol.
The flip-side of this is getting teammates WITH BT, who won’t save you if a killer is proxy camping. Why run a perk that activates within the killers terror radius if you won’t use it within the killers terror radius?
Maybe I’m just having a string of bad luck, but this has been happening to me in so many games. It’s one of the reasons I play killer more.
Agreed, this is happening in a huge number of games lately and what really sucks is there is literally no way to prevent it. When you're on the hook you have no control over when you get unhooked and by doing that, they are essentially just getting you killed quicker. It actually annoys me MORE than people who don't even come for an unhook and leave you to get all the way through most of the struggle phase just from the first hook, which is also super frustrating (when the killer isn't even camping).

Dude, this is driving me crazy, and away from Solo Q. I am a not proponent of tunneling, but you can't blame this on the killer. If you unhook me literally 4 seconds after the killer hooks me, why the ######### would they not go for the first person they see? And, no , BT does not excuse this type of behavior. BT is a last resort, not an easy farm for points BS mechanic. And these will be the same survivors that cry "tunneling is getting out of hand." If you are this type of survivor, you are contributing to prevalence of tunneling, as well making it viable. This includes hook trading for no reason with 55 seconds still left before next stage. You have now given the killer two hooks, why making zero progress on objectives and robbed your teammate of a hook stage.
Please, get some damn game sense.
You have misunderstood me. I am not blaming this on the killer at all, I am blaming it on idiotic survivor team mates who are pulling stupid things like this. Please refrain from patronising me when you've misunderstood the point being made.
-
It's not even close to end game. It's not even close to moving into the struggle phase. It's literally seconds after being hooked. So annoying. There should be a button you can press to refuse being unhooked.
-
Every game. Sick of it.

Dead by Daylight = You are dead by the time daylight rises - This means that you can die in the morning or technically daytime, thus the game still makes sense with the title "Dead by daylight". This means that the name of the game still makes sense and fits.
Or, you are literally dead, by daylight - as in you are killed in the light of day. It still fits as 'by daylight' can refer to both a time period and a lighting condition. E.g. you could be Dead by Candlelight if you were killed in a powercut :-)
-
Often if I've been outplayed and I know they are just waiting at the gates to teabag, I will just go and chill somewhere until they leave and do something on my phone for a bit. If they want to waste their time, they can.
-
I hover around 14/15 for killer and have only one killer max levelled with tier 3 perks, and I get red rank survivors and SwF teams all the time. It is frustrating I think on both sides because they have an easy match which probably isn't that fun and I have an incredibly hard match that isn't that fun.
-
There's a simple solution to this that would be beneficial for everyone.
Have the existing matchmaking and SBMM as two different options.
Done.
-
I agree, this was one of the top 3 most frustrating challenges in the current Tome (the other being Heroic Cause and for me, Jailbreak which I have tried for hours to get and just can't, I don't have any of the items or perks that help with my Yui so it's one I've given up on - having completed the Tome overall anyway).
I managed to complete it in the least favourable circumstances in the end, by some fluke - it was vs Ghostface, somehow I managed to get the first one done in the TR and then escaped him - I then was on a second gen with another survivor and he downed them right next to it and then hit me - he had the perk which blocks the generator (can't remember the name of it) when the survivor is picked up and he picked my teammate up, as soon as it became unblocked I finished it off. He got me, but I completed the challenge.
I would love to see some of these challenges that are very dependent on sheer chance not appear in future.

Can't be tunneled if your outplaying the killer. You have to fail more than once before the killer has that opportunity.
I don't agree. One mistake or one mistake by a teammate can put you in that position and then there's little you can do about it. Get unhooked in front of the killer and instadowned.
Not to mention it also sucks when it's happening to a teammate and you do everything possible to stop them being tunnelled and it doesn't make any difference.
I can't understand the mentality of people who don't see the issue.
-
The basement would be fine if it wasn't also possible to camp it. When you combine basement with camping you just have a recipe for boredom.
-
For real.
I am close to quitting this game, at least for a while. The vast majority of matches are not fun lately.
Do the Devs take any notice of the 'fun' ranking at the end of the match?
-
Not to mention it confirms that the Breakout perk is absolute trash - the only time it may be remotely useful is with SwF as there's no way it is viable solo queue
-
Nope, tried it again and just got tunnelled so I'm done. Stupid frickin challenge

use the purple addon for the medkit that gives you endurance. eat 2 hits.
should do the trick.
pallet and flashlight saves also work
I only had two of those - just used one of them in a game I couldn't even use it (Bubba wouldn't hit me while carrying a David to the basement and then camped) so I'm now down to one shot. If this fails, I give up. I've been trying it for hours.
-
I'm really struggling with this. Sure it's easy if you have the needed perks and items - without them, it's proving next to impossible. One of the hardest ones for me so far - and I might give up because I'm just not enjoying playing games when trying to get this challenge (I've completed the rift)
-
I often end up with a Ghostface who has that costume that makes their mask glow and I run towards them mistaking it for a Hex Totem.
Generally not a fan of Ghostface games.

This option should be limited to a certain amount. I don't think people will only block toxic people. They will block people that just outplayed them, too. Or people would just block popular streamers to just increase their lobbytime.
OK, you get a couple of blocks per month to prevent it being abused. I would definitely appreciate this option - I wouldn't use it for people who have outplayed me, but toxic survivors and killers. If enough people block them, it will take them longer to queue for matches which is a suitable punishment IMO. I don't want to play with survivors who block me in a doorway or come to unhook me and endlessly cancel and retry because they think it's funny.
-
I cannot stand playing against the Pig.
I hate the reverse bear trap mechanic. It usually takes me at least 3 attempts to remove it and sometimes even 4. It's incredibly frustrating and boring to have to go around the map finding the Jigsaw boxes and to complete it and it still doesn't even work is just super annoying. Make the process harder but a one-and-done and I'd be fine with it. Plus the laugh really rubs it in!
I don't like going against the Spirit either but that's mainly because I haven't really worked out how to counterplay her.
-
The biggest problem with Solo Survivor is you are not 4 v 1, you are more likely 3 v 2, or if you're really unlucky 2 v 3 (survivor/killer sided) because your survivor teammates are sometimes actually MORE of a threat to you than the killer is.
Leading the killer to you, failing skill checks, not helping, healing when they should be unhooking, not bothering to unhook at all, wasting pallets, running around aimlessly - all of this happens constantly in Solo Queue.
-
A poisoned hatchet that slows down a survivor by 5%?
-
My suggestion would be to take perks out of the main bloodweb, and you can buy them separately. The bit that really annoys me is the RNG element such that you are forced to spend bp on perks you don't want just to get through them to the ones you do want. Make them more expensive in bp to buy them separately but give us the chance to actually get the ones we want.
-
@Dragonshensi said:
Why do you want it? Unless you’re survivor I guess.
I mainly play as survivor, and I like map variety - it gets boring going to the same 3 all the time (Macmillan, Auto, Coldwind)
-
I like the idea of traps - or like an oil slick or something - has already been mentioned, to avoid it being OP for the survivors you could make it apply to either killer or survivor (so you could trigger a trap that one of your teammates intended for the killer)

@Kirkylad said:
If a killer wants to camp or tunnel they can. It's not against the rules and they can play however they want to play. The devs have addressed the issue time and again saying that it's a tactic that the killer can use if they choose to.
It may not be against the rules but the devs should take notice of something that is genuinely making people not want to play their game because it creates boring games. It forces the camped survivor to do nothing, and it forces the non-camped survivors to just sit on gens, which is boring. It means the killer does little other than standing around - which perhaps is fun for some people? But seems boring to me. You'd think the creators of a game would want to do all that they can to make the game fun rather than boring.
-
Oh sorry, I've misunderstood - didn't realise you meant their actual name rather than killer name! My point still applies, and I don't think you should be able to see their username pre-game but you SHOULD be able to block a particular player from being matched with you, if you had a bad experience with them - that goes for survivor OR killer. If I have a bad experience with a player I do not want to play a game with them again. Blocking their communication is fine but blocking from being matched with them would be much better.
-
No.
However, what I would like to see is a Killer Filter option - so you can select killers that you absolutely do not want to go up against as part of match-making, and you will not be put into a match with that killer.
There are some advantages and disadvantages to this but I think overall it would be a plus. There are already killers who for whatever reason people hate playing against - and if they get that killer, they either d/c, or play badly on purpose, which ruins the game for everyone. If they could filter them out as part of match-making, it might take them longer to find a match but they are then more likely to play properly when they are matched.
The main problem is for the particularly unpopular killers, people who want to play those killers will end up having to wait a lot longer to find a game. Though they may actually think that is worth while if they get a decent game out of it.
-
I had a Wraith yesterday who hooked me and stayed close enough to the hook (circling round) for there to still be a TR as I ticked down from first hook all the way to almost the end of struggle phase - I got unhooked and then he downed me immediately and death hooked me. When I sent a message to congratulate him on his marvellous camping (I am going to be salty I don't care) he denied that what he'd done was camping.
Do killers think camping is just when you stand immediately in the hooked survivors face? If you never went far enough away from the hook in the time it takes to go from initial hook to literally a few seconds off dead and then immediately down them once rescued - what the hell do you think that is?
Boring. The points penalty isn't enough to stop them doing it so it will keep happening and I will keep getting frustrated playing boring games until I either accept it - or more likely - play something else. I liked the idea of the hook timer not triggering if the killer is too close tbh - yes there's abuse potential there and perhaps it needs to be more nuanced, but that would go a LONG way to addressing this behaviour that results in a boring game for everyone.
-
Ah ok that explains it - haven't paid any attention to the news feed thanks for pointing it out. Shame I wasted the offerings!

Dude, there are 4 of you. Killer can't be expected to chase all of you at once. You're going to be spending a lot of time on generators.
And frankly, if you don't have the right mindset to train these killers to play properly by punishing then I really do want you to leave so I don't get you as a teammate. Nothing pisses me off more than somebody running to my hook with the killer standing right there. Nothing gets my goat like some brainless idiot running around my hook with the killer in tow. Nothing makes me roll my eyes as a killer more than turning around after hooking somebody to find 2 people standing there behind a pallet 16 meters away then getting mad that I didn't leave because 3/4ths of the team is right there in front of me NOT giving me generator pressure while their teammate's life is tick ticking away. If this is how you play then yes, do us all a favor and quit.
And yes, the game is well-rounded. But look at what you are doing.....
- You hold M1 to heal
- You hold M1 to cleanse totems
- You hold M1 to do generators
Most of this game is about holding M1 at it's very core.... holding M1 till the next chase.
If you get a camping killer, you'll be doing it for less than 5 minutes... then you'll be out of there and in a new match that is hopefully more engaging.
If you can't look past these instances and do the right thing, definitely find something else to do.
I think you've missed my point and I don't do any of the things you're accusing me of here. If you can't understand that camping/tunnelling creates a boring game with little variety for EVERYONE then I really have nothing else to say. Good luck in your games.

Then you're in the wrong game mate. Because if you aren't spending half your game on a generator, you're half the reason you keep losing as a survivor. There's nothing wrong with that and I'm not telling you this to be mean - it's just a fact. This game's gameplay loop doing it properly is to spend most of your time as a generator holding M1 while looking around nervously. If that's not you idea of fun, this game's gameplay loop is just not for you.
I think you're right - I thought the game was about doing generators, running from the killer, unhooking teammates, evasion, mind games, finding cool items to use, teamwork, stealth, stunning the killer, blinding the killer with flashlights - if it's just about doing generators then it's not a game I'm interested in and I'll be giving it up soon. Shame on me for expecting a well-rounded game with some variety, I should have known better!

Use the 'Premonition' perk and as soon as it lights up point in the direction you are facing

If you don't want to play then just walk away and get yourself a coffee or something until they have left

Or I could simply stop playing the game 😂😂😂
Survivor queue time is horrid already.
Have you have been camped bro, what's the honest point in playing? Especially if it happened every match.
Exactly, this guy gets it. Either you get camped/tunnelled yourself, or your teammate does and you spend all game on a gen. Remind me what's fun about either scenario?

There is a secret technique to combat camping. Here we go.
DO THE GENERATORS
I'm going to lay down some cold-hard facts
- It takes 80 seconds solo a generator
- It takes 120 seconds to fully die on a hook
- there are 4 survivors.
If a killer is camping, killer should lose at least 2 gens, preferably 3 before that first person is dead. If people just gen rushed in response and stopped rewarding the behavior, you'd see a lot less camping killers.
Besides, the killer is already encouraged to leave the hook by various perks added to the game. But the devs said repeatedly it and tunneling is an allowed tactic.
The issue I have with this is simple - 'doing the generators' just isn't fun. If the only valid way to counter a behaviour in a game is to do something that isn't fun - what's the point in playing at all?
Gen rushing might work but who wants to spend the majority of every game holding a button down and pressing another button periodically, rinse and repeat then leave? Come on now, you must realise that this might make sense logically but in the context of a game that's only existence is to provide fun it just doesn't make sense.
-
There just needs to be more perks that punish camping and tunnelling IMO. I keep encountering tunnelling in my games and whether it's happening to me or a team mate, it makes the game not fun and I actually just don't want to play anymore if it keeps going like this.
I know everyone keeps complaining about it and then people say it's a legitimate strategy and there are already counterplay against it, but you know what - if a killer goes after me/teammate to the exclusivity of all others despite trying to block, draw them away etc - it's just not a fun experience. When a game isn't fun, you stop playing.

I'd recommend Kindred if you're still new. It's an absolute godsend for countering campers in solo queue. The amount of info you get from that perk is fantastic.
I have used it. Though in this case I kind of suspected he was being camped - but when I see that happen I basically don't care to play the game from that point onward anyway, if someone wants to play like that it's up to them but I don't find just going and fixing generators while they camp to be any fun. I'd rather just get killed and find another game with someone who wants to play the full experience
-
I hid in locker when he hooked someone in the basement but I went to rescue the basement hooker and just got downed and hooked myself, then instadowned off the hook so it was over pretty quick, no chance to practice
-
I am definitely trying to practice my running. Trouble I'm having is killers who just want to tunnel and camp. Just had a game with a Ghostface basement camper. Don't see the point of playing like that, it's not fun for anyone and I can't practice escaping in chases.
-
I will try the locker trick - literally as I said EVERY killer I've seen lately is using it so I will assume they have it
-
I never see this - very rare anyone bothers with a map. I used it once to try it out but it seems pointless as you can't explain what you are marking and why
-
I just got tunnelled by a Spirit - literally no other team mates were hooked at all, got exit doors open and she camped me on last hook. Got unhooked with BT and she still went after me then left me slugged while dancing around the exit until she picked me up and last hooked me.
Why? Just would like to know.
-
I personally do feel it was nerfed too hard. I can understand deactivating it if you then go work on a gen, but I don't think healing should deactivate it.
Now, I don't think I'll bother to use it at all. If someone's going to tunnel me, they will eat the DS and carry on tunneling me anyway.
-
Some of these perks I haven't managed to unlock yet! Better get grinding...

It happens with every game.
Devs slowly lose passion for the game and they ultimately stop communicating with the community.
I would too if I have to fix things 24/7 instead of doing smth new.
I don't get this argument. They could do both - some time on fixes, some time on new stuff. New maps, characters, game modes, mechanics - there's a lot of new stuff you could do with this game, there's so much potential. What about 2 v 8 game modes, or Left 4 Dead style 'mutations' of different game modes? There's plenty of new things they could do if they are bored of the game as it is.
-
I think the Shrine of Secrets should only include perks that are for paid characters and should be refreshed more often, that's my biggest issue. Would have no problem paying for characters/cosmetics but I resent having to pay for a character just to get a perk I want (which still then takes a lot of levelling). I feel that core content shouldn't be paid for (and you can argue it's not because if you wait for it to appear in the SoS you can get it there - but it takes too long to refresh so you could be waiting literally months for ones you want to appear).
-
I started with David and although I am trying to work my way through the others one by one to get their teachables, he's always the one I will return to for challenges etc. Because he's hot.

I would remove self care and take kindred instead. It shows the survivors whenever one is hooked, so in solo groups you can figure out who is going for the save, and shows the killer if he's close to the hook so you know if it's worth going for the save.
Sorry, I realised it's actually Kindred that I have been using, not Empathy - so I need to consider what to swap out SC for. Still Tier 2 perks at this point on Meg. Perhaps swap the SC out for Inner Strength - I always try to cleanse totems anyway so would suit how I play, plus can bounce into a locker with Q&Q.
