Self-Care is 100% hurting the team if you're straight up healing yourself with it all the time on its own. It's almost singlehandedly throwing the game if you're using it when the killer has Sloppy Butcher or Dying Light.
All the time you are spending on Self-Care is time you're not spending saving a teammate, doing a gen, finding a totem, etc. You're having to Self-Care because the gens aren't done, and the gens often aren't done because people are using Self-Care in a corner.
Inner Strength, Pharmacy, Second Wind are all much more efficient. If you have to run SC, pair it with Botany Knowledge.
I just got Inner Strength from the Shrine but I don't have Pharmacy or Second Wind so can't use them - I do have Botany but I think based on what people have said I should just ditch Self-Care completely.

Thanks for all your opinions - I've only been playing this game for a few weeks at this point, so I'm still working on levelling up my survivors and experimenting with different builds. I'm rank 11 at the moment. I think based on what people have said that it's one I might not use for now - though bear in mind I haven't unlocked all survivor perks (just David, Claudette, Jake and the first of Nea) so I am still limited in what I can use. I'm working on Meg at the moment and have been using Quick & Quiet, Balanced Landing, Empathy and Self-Care.

That is y some killers just take the time to play it as a warm up match and let at least one person get hatch...getting left on hook until second hook phase sucks and is one of the worst things about playing solo queues
Agreed, not sure how to address the issue of deliberately unhelpful teammates though...anti-altruism! Probably needs to be a points penalty if the game could work out that it was perfectly easy to save someone, the team just didn't bother.

I usually play survivor and rarely ever DC. Other than internet connection loss, I've only DCed once and that was because my teammates screwed me over. I was on a gen, clown chased me and downed me. He then put me in the basement. I was left on the hook almost the entire time, where I was about to die on the second phase. When they finally unhooked me, clown was right behind them. I managed to just get outside the killer shack, but then the clown downed me again. I went underneath a pallet, then my teammate dropped the pallet on me and ran away. Clown was about to put me on death hook and so I DCed. I would've only gotten 3-4k BP anyway, so I'd rather DC than give the clown BP for hooking me.
But generally it is annoying when people DC just because they dislike a map or killer, because then it puts more pressure on the rest of the survivors. Once someone DCs, it's very rare that we are able to escape.
In that scenario though you are punishing the killer for the bad behaviour of your own team...how is that fair?
-
Can the game distinguish between intentional Vs unintentional d/c?
I have never and will never intentionally quit, I don't even know how to on console. I don't think there's a justification for it, ever and it should start at a 30 minute time out and scale up for repeated offences. You waste other people's time, you get your time out like the whining baby that you are.
-
Also getting 'An unknown error occurred' after a match, and returned to menu
-
I don't understand why killers complain that survivors use every advantage they can and use meta perks...like, what do you expect them to do? Just sit around and let you kill them?
Very puzzled with why there's always so much hate for DS too considering it's a one and done, it usually only comes in handy if you're being tunnelled, and if you don't like it, it's easily avoided.
-
I would like a block option. I can see the point being made here that people will block players because they are better than them - but that will just end up with them playing far fewer games as they end up blocking more and more people.
I would block someone who is deliberately useless or disruptive in the game - I'm talking about survivor team mates for this mainly. Why should I have to play a game with someone who is trolling? I always use the report option after a match but I don't want to play a game with someone who thinks it's funny to keep blocking me, or fake-unhooking me again and again.
-
Repairing generators is the most boring part of the game, anything that speeds that up is good IMO!
-
I have only been playing a few weeks, but what I find annoying about DS is that if it's meant to be anti-tunnel, if you can use it and get away successfully then fine but quite a few times I've used it and then immediately get chased again and caught and I feel like there was little point in having it - it's only really wasted the killer a few seconds and if they are tunnelling me already they are going to want to tunnel even harder after I've used it on them.
Perhaps if it gave you a few seconds of not creating scratch marks so it was easier to make a getaway after using it, then it would work better for me (like I say, only been playing a few weeks so perhaps I just need to be better at escaping).

Yep it's not a good challenge
I have DS, Empathy (obv), Unbreakable and WGLF and I can still only manage one heal from dying state - the most annoying is when I'm trying to self-heal with Unbreakable and a teammate comes to 'help' me!
-
I hate this challenge - I have probably done 30 matches and still not completed it, it's incredibly difficult to get the right circumstances.

OH, so your character stays ALIVE but doesn't do anything. The game goes on. Then you can reconnect to that character and incur any damage they have taken while being AFK in the game?
Am I getting it right now?
Bingo!

I initially thought that, but I also covered that BHVR has stated they will not be adding bots, so it's a moot thing to ask for. It'd be like talking about what kind of guns Survivors will get after the devs said they won't give Survivors guns in the first place.
Not talking about bots - I'm saying that your character stays afk until you can reconnect. Whatever happens, happens - but at least it gives you a chance to get back in not be counted as a d/c a minute into the game through no fault of your own.
Appreciate I didn't describe what I meant clearly enough from the start and apparently am still not, so I don't really know what else to say. It's pretty straightforward in my mind but I guess not!

where your character has got to
I don't understand this bit. Your character, upon disconnect, dies. They slump to the ground, drop their items, and everyone keeps playing. If you came back in 5 minutes, the trial would look completely different, because gens would be done or everyone would be on the verge of death.
That is how it works NOW - I thought I'd described what I meant but clearly not as no one else seems to get it...

It would allow Survivors to pop back in with potentially no damage done to them mid-way or late in the trial. This could/would add a ton of weight to the Survivor side of the trial as the Killer now has to deal with a new player that can take hits rather freely or help unravel any plays the Killer has set up around the original remaining Survivors. The game is simply not designed to easily allow a Survivor to reconnect to a trial. If the game ever got bots to replace Survivors that DC, it might be possible, but currently they don't seem to have any plans to introduce bots outside of the mobile version.
No, you are also misunderstanding - it doesn't remove you from the game then add you back in, in this scenario - you just pick up from wherever your character has got to
-
@JasmineDragon said:
i mean how do you balance such a thing? Lose a hook state every time they dc? Then why not DC at start and go for hach later after everyones dead? Seems really flawed
I still don't understand this point - if you d/c, you should remain in the game just obviously not doing anything - so if you d/c unintentionally you can come back and resume wherever your player has got to at that point. If you d/c at the start you would just sit there afk and be a sitting duck, it would not be possible to just go back in when everyone is dead and escape through the hatch because you would probably have been grabbed by then.
I don't understand why people are not getting what I mean? It would be the same as if you d/c in a game of DOTA and your team doesn't pause for you
-
@Pirate said:
maybe because people would abuse this everytime they are short before catched by the killer DC and then reconnect in savety
Sorry I don't understand what you're saying here. How could it be abused? If you d/c unintentionally you just continue in-game without being controlled and then if you are able to reconnect you do so, picking up wherever you have got to - not at the point in time you d/c. I don't see how that could be abused to anyone's benefit? D/c unintentionally ruins the game for four other players, it's mad that it's not possible to reconnect
-
I think what feels off to me is I am aware of not letting him stalk to build up his power but if your team don't then he just comes and kills you instantly it feels unfair - though I guess there are a lot of instances in this game where the mistakes of your team mates impact on you even if you're not making them yourself
-
I can't do the heal under the effect of Empathy one. Dozens of games so far
-
Stop playing this game. Immediately.
If it's affecting you that badly to the point of self harm it is not something you should have in your life. Play games that bring you joy and peace, not cause mental distress.
-
I hadn't come across this add-on on the few weeks since starting this game until this week.
Survivors all started together, and three of them were instantly on the nearest gen - I went further away to find another one only to see the three on that first gen be downed one after another in under a minute. I couldn't understand how it could have happened so fast but I do now I know about the add-on and that you can have more than one with the belt add-on.
Although we lasted a bit longer, realistically the game was over in the first minute which was a bit annoying but as it's my first experience of it, I don't know if it's truly op or just me and my team need to git gud
-
I never d/c intentionally, like others have said you just ruined the game for 4 other players - if you're that fragile you shouldn't be playing at all.
The only reason I would hook-suicide is when I see my team mates not making any effort at all the come and get me (and I'm not being camped). I had a game the other day where they were all quite far away from me so I was patient, eventually one starts running in my direction, only to stop and start on a generator literally about 15m away while I'm about to reach the struggle phase. I nope'd out of there straight away - I'm not going to waste my time playing a game with unhelpful teammates, I'd rather get into another game with ones who have a clue.
I don't play Killer much but have found that as Freddy a lot of people will d/c if hooked first

If LGBTQ+ characters get added then fine, i am not homophobic and i believe people should date / be whoever they want. However, i just feel like this is adding politics into a game that we all love. For example, its already shown how many homophobic people there are and this is gonna create a divide. The devs have already said they want to include it just don't want to rush. Also, a lot of lore for most characters dont say if they are gay or not, use your imagination.
I just don't want this game to become damn politics, i hear enough about it irl.
Who someone is from birth is not political. It is not up for debate.
-
I feel like the past few days has had this a lot more as well, I didn't know whether it was just my bad luck or a result of something being nerfed or buffed as I haven't paid attention to change logs.
Definitely makes the game boring and unfun, I would have thought for both sides. I feel like there must be some way to disincentivise people doing this that is more than just "the rest of the team complete gens and escape so the killer gets low points anyway" - although 3 may escape, they have also had a boring game just squatting at a gen the whole time.
Would something like for the first X mins of a game or Y number of hooks, a killer is unable to attack for Z number of seconds or something? Sure it's a big survivor buff but it would prevent these boring unfun games.

well cba arguing with (I assume, LGBTQ people) who think being murdered, or being murderers is good representation for LGBTQ people.
y'all wonder why there's still inequality/bad representation when you literally scream and kick for it.
I understand the point you're making, in that 'bad' representation could be worse than no representation - and there has long been a trope in horror of the queer killer or victim, which does make it a bit of a grey area.
But to have true equality and equal representation, I feel like queer characters of all kinds, regardless of whether they are evil or not, should have a seat at the table. If you're saying that there are certain genres of media that have to exclude them entirely simply because there are negative associations, that ends up having the exact opposite effect of what you are trying to achieve.

I’m sure you are all for this unless a “marginalized” group says something you don’t like.
I'm afraid I don't understand your point? Are you implying that I would not respect the views of a minority group if I didn't identify with them? If so, you're wrong and have made an incorrect assumption. As a member of a minority group I know what it feels like so I have empathy and would not behave in a way I know to be damaging.
-
The people who say that representation isn't needed never seem to realise that they only think it's unimportant because they don't need it, they are completely unaware of their own privilege.
When people from a marginalised group tell you what would help them, instead of shouting them down and dismissing it because YOU don't understand why it's important, try listening.

I had one earlier today.
Started the match and the killer was on me almost immediately, chased me down and hooked me and then face-camped (literally in my face hacking at me, fortunately while the rest of the survivors worked on gens) until I got near the second stage, they then all rushed the killer and one got me off the hook. I limped away and the killer went after me yet again - downed me but I had DS and got away. Killer went for me (and only me) yet again (even going literally right by other team mates) but meanwhile the rest of my team were on the gens. I get hooked again and then unhooked, but guess what the killer still only has eyes for me. By this time the exit gates are open since my team has had almost a free pass and I get downed again, hoisted by the killer but I'm wiggling like a demon and my team mates are literally body-blocking the killer to stop them getting me on the hook. I wiggle free and book it to the exit along with my team - killer got about 7k point total for the match, haha GG loser!

Not quite.
Chucky is the soul of a voodoo practicioner who transferred into a doll when his body was about to die. The voodoo angle gives more options.
Yes OK, you are right of course - but that's why I said he's essentially a possessed doll. Because how is him transferring his spirit from his dying body into the body of a doll via voodoo REALLY that different from 'possessed doll'. Seems a bit nitpicky to me!

Yes Billy and Bubba have the same power and vastly different attack mechanics. There is no complaint about seeing something similar to The Twins and Chucky, maybe you are referring to the doll itself, but do not forget the concept of the twins that is another option to see Chucky.
@wraithbaby3 said:

Chuky doesn't need to come solo, he can as well have a partner. For example the very fat girlfriend of his.
The concept of Chucky is essentially a possessed doll, so the only way that it could work is if you play as the doll Chucky the majority of the time, and when it's time to hoist and hook a survivor, the spirit rises up out of the doll (superimposed over him) and does the lifting.
-
I don't like being tunnelled or camped as a survivor, but what annoys me even more is when I AM being tunnelled or camped, the rest of my team not making the most of the opportunity to work on objectives. Seems like the best way to put killers off from this behaviour is to punish them for it by taking advantage of the free time.
Not played much killer but the only time I will tunnel someone is if they are toxic, sure I'll lose the game but it's satisfying to get them out of it asap.

As a massive Hellraiser fan, I kinda disagree. While I would love to see Pinhead or another Cenobite in the game, their abilities would need to be dumbed down to the point of "missing the point" of the characters. Also, realistically, I don't think the Lament Configuration would really factor in unless it was made into something similar to puzzle boxes, which is to say it would be used to counter one of the Killers powers. Cenobites generally don't chase, though we saw a "depowered" Pinhead do so in HR3. Even then, it wasn't even much of a chase, more like clowning around while following a chick in order to give her multiple heart-attacks and pop out some good one liners at a priest. Despite all their powers and reality warping abilities, Cenobites would likely get reduced to "chains with hooks" and "a box". It sells them horribly short.
Take your points and yes they would need to be dumbed down/adapted in terms of power, but hey in the Nightmare on Elm Street films Freddy drags people into a dream world where he's basically a god, so I don't think the game killers need to necessarily be movie-accurate
-
I don't think Chucky would work as a killer for this game. The height would pose a vision issue as mentioned above, and you couldn't have a doll hoisting a survivor onto his shoulder so they would have to come up with an alternative carry mechanism which I guess is not impossible but I feel improbable.
Candyman would be great! There could be mirrors on walls that he could teleport to/grab and pull survivors through that survivors could smash, or they have to cleanse, he could release bees to that impact hearing with their buzz so you don't know if he's near you or not, he has a hook for a hand which is iconic, I think he would be a perfect addition.
Pinhead I can see working too - throw in some sort of puzzle box mechanic (have to pass a couple of skill checks and you can 'banish' him to 15m away from you or something) plus he could either have chain hook traps or fire a chain hook (though maybe too similar to Deathslinger?) plus would slot perfectly into the lore. They could do something interesting with the more screams he is in the vicinity of the more his power grows or something (not sure if that's already a killer trait)
