  • I actually like there being lighter maps for some variety.

To please everyone though, what if there was a day version and a night version of the map and it was randomly selected?

As much as i agree that this is just a horror game, and i dont see the point, im not LGBT so maybe i dont understand.

I dont see a problem with a character to represent the LGBT community.

BUT - I wish people would stop moaning and crying about it, its gonna happen just relax, in my opinion its just a video game. I feel like if you pressure the devs enough, theyre going to make a very boring character whose lore is only being LGBT, wouldnt you feel more left out and unrepresented if the devs forced a character to be LGBT? Then it feels unnatural and forced. I just think you should appreciate characters for who they are, not for their sexuality or gender.

And the devs have never forced a character to be straight, it just happens, whats wrong with the nurse and wraith having matching cosmetics? Its cute. And who cares if david had a gf in the lore? It doesnt affect gameplay does it.

Look i hope that the LGBT community gets their representation as everyone should, but stop pressuring them and threatening them. I just saw a post where someone was yelling at the devs for only getting a pride charm and not a character, like calm down. And ive seen alot of posts where people call others homophobic or against LGBT, just for that person giving their opinion. If you want LGBT representation, at least paint a good image of yourselves rather than yelling at everyone.

You'll get your representation, the devs have heard you.

You don't understand and that's fine, there's no problem with that as long as you respect the people who actually do care and respect that they have a legitimate reason for their perspective.

If you understood what it was like to have to fight and struggle for your place in this world, to be constantly treated as 'lesser' for something that you had no control over, and came from a place of having to always push for equal treatment rather than it just be expected by default, perhaps you would get it. I agree, representation in a game like this is absolutely MINOR in the grand scheme of things, but we didn't get the few concessions and equal treatment we have (in some countries of the world anyway) by just sitting back and accepting the status quo even though it wasn't fair. No, we stood up for ourselves, stated our case, and had to claw tooth and nail for every scrap. So just bare that in mind when you essentially are telling an already oppressed minority group to just sit down and shut up and stop whining. We WISH we could, trust me - it's so ######### tiring.

Run DS, its on you if you cant escape.

    1. Why should you have to use a perk just to stop teammates doing something stupid?
    2. That's a one time use - what if you've already used it, it's just tough?
    3. How do you propose escaping when someone unhooks you right in front of the killer and they don't have BT?

I don't understand the mentality of arguing against the proposal, which would prevent people doing something that harms the team and just annoys people.

  • Off-topic, but why not?

There could be a mechanic whereby a number of mirrors are set up around the map and if Candyman is chasing a teammate/tunnelling/camping and you want to draw him to your location, you stand opposite the mirror and recite his name 5 times and he's forced to teleport to you.

I hated it my first few matches when I kept hitting the old struggle button because when I'm on the hook muscle memory said hit old struggle button even though it was a skill check and that's a different button. 😂

Not a fan of it making it easier for randoms to farm me in front of the killer. Definitely helps out those working with the killer survivors. 😒

I honestly feel like there should be a 'Block being unhooked' button because I get so fed up of being unhooked right in a Killer's face (only exception to this is if I am literally about to die but it's usually done when there is PLENTY of time left on the meter). It's incredibly frustrating to have been hooked, get unhooked in their face and then insta-downed and it's so unnecessary 99.9% of the time, but it's entirely outside of your control and I hate that.

If the survivor who did it is also on Xbox I usually send them a message afterwards along the lines of "Please don't unhook people in the killer's face in future" and if I get any response at all it's usually abusive or something like "I'll do what I want."

Don't understand the mentality of survivors who actively do detrimental things to their teammates.

  • I don't think she got overshadowed - I definitely see her in a lot more games than I see Trickster, who I haven't been up against in several days in not a week or more.

  • @Mushwin said:

Not really liking how bright now cold wind farm is now :( the game is called dead BY daylight not dead at daylight :( its too dark and i cant see anything through those corn stalks and where is my scarecrows :(

My counter to that would be that it's called 'Dead BY Daylight' not 'Dead BEFORE Daylight' and I assume it's meant to represent either dawn or dusk.

Not to mention 'by Daylight' has more than one meaning since it also could be taken in the same way as 'by Moonlight' or 'by Candlelight' as in, they are the lighting conditions during which the death can occur.

So I think either explanation could still fit the theme.

Honestly, before Blight I was almost done with this game, then Twins and Trickster happened.

I still think Twins are the worst chapter ever released (I'm including Legion) but after the changes to Trickster I'm having great fun as him.

Outside of breakable walls continuing to make me wonder why they exist and some of the maps being too dark, the map reworks look fantastic.

Good balance changes and QoL changes like hooks, took a while but they're here.

I'm hopeful for the future of this game again but I'm not getting too hyped yet.

I don't think he's talking about playercount, more quality of the game.

I see most people agree that dbd hit its peak quality and fun-wise in 2019, it's all been sorta downhill from there from a gameplay perspective. I.E. New killers just mostly being hybrids/New perks being mostly unoriginal, etc. I know a lot of players (3-4 year players) who have left after the Chains of Hate or Silent Hill chapter and aren't interested in returning.

The art and sound design is better than ever but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired.

In terms of gameplay being stale, I agree they need to do more than just new killers and perks - I really think they could do with adding a few new game modes to spice things up. Even things like a 2 v 8 mode, while not ground-breaking would help to maintain interest. I've only been playing a few months and I noticed that even though I still play most days, once I'd completed a tome challenges things started to get stale and I'm glad there's a new tome starting tomorrow.

Revised character models and updated maps are great, don't get me wrong - but they don't impact the core gameplay at all so are not a substitute for innovation.

However, as a conservative and a proud believer of science I don't believe a trans character aligns with my beliefs about biology. I (and many others I know) wouldn't appreciate having one in the game. That's putting it lightly.

You should look into the science of transgenderism. It's not the same as what we learned in high school biology. It's much more complex, nuanced, and confirms what trans people with gender dysphoria have been saying all along: they're in the wrong body.

These people rarely choose to educate themselves because they don't want to admit that they are ignorant. They cling on to 'the biology' without actually knowing enough about it, for some reason. It's a classic.

No that's fine, trust me, I completely believe both of you. All I need to do is turn on the television or walk outside my house to believe that this is true.

While it's far less than it was when I was young (I wager there's a good chance that I was around a little while before a lot of others here were), there is undoubtedly still hatred, bigotry and persecution of gay and trans (etc.) people all over the world. I don't like it, I've done my part to change it, and I rejoiced when my country finally caught up to the rest of the world in agreeing that there is (in my opinion) nothing wrong with people of the same gender having romantic, fulfilling partnerships.

That said, I just don't know how or why this thread became so defensive, so fast. I don't know why the default attitude seems to be "tolerate us or you're an intolerant #########". I guess I just don't understand the aggression.

Fair comment. We probably are overly sensitive/touchy about such topics, but when who you are is dismissed as 'identity politics' (that may not have been your intention - but it WAS how it came across) and you have to fight just to be seen as equal to the majority, it tends to make you a bit touchy. I would have thought that was understandable.

You make fair points, but near the end you kind of use having a negative opinion on something as equal to actively persecuting something.

I'll give you a 100 percent true example of this. My fundamentalist Christian friend, who believes that all homosexuality is a sin and so forth, and voted against gay rights / gay marriage, has opinions that I don't share. He's a good guy - he's responsible, cares greatly for his family, counsels people in need, etc. But he has opinions that are against the gay community. People are three dimensional and I won't hate him for his feelings on the subject even if I think that they're extremely ignorant and judgmental.

Meanwhile, I also had a friend who I believe was trans. I met both of these people while on the THQ forums where I eventually worked for a while. They didn't talk to each other much, they were two names in a sea of names in a very large community. But I became close online friends with both - the Christian (so named not to shame him, but because I'm withholding real names) and I developed a love / hate heated rivalry with each other because we're extremely opinionated people who disagree on a great many things, but who respect the hell out of each other for other things as well. The trans girl (I never got confirmation but always believed) simply looked up to me a great deal because I was a leader of the forum for a while.

Long story short, she saw some of the comments that the Christian made and was irate about them. She found them hurtful, stopping just short of saying that they were insulting to herself and her lifestyle. I explained that while I understood her position, and agreed with it, it was not our place to tell him that his beliefs were wrong. We didn't live his life, we weren't raised in his household. We didn't read the books that he did, have the experiences that he had. Just because we ourselves agreed that homosexuality is not a sin doesn't mean that he doesn't have an equal right to believe that it is. It's not our place to tell him that he's wrong and has to change his worldview any more than it's his right to do the same to us.

She was flabbergasted. She accused me of taking his side. I argued that no, I'm actually not taking anyone's side. It's a matter of moral relativism. Some people think that masturbation is a sin. Some people thing that certain words are evil. Some people thing that certain books should be banned. Some people think that certain things shouldn't be shown in movies. Who gets to decide these things? What makes someone the arbiter of how everyone else should feel about something? I explained to her that just because I thought the guy was wrong and ignorant in the expression of his beliefs, there is no fact that I am "right" to feel the way I do about mine. Is racism bad? In that it leads to harm, yes. Same with all forms of bigotry. But who am I to tell someone that they can't be racist? What if they spent their whole lives learning firsthand from terrible people that racism is justified? Who am I to tell that person that his beliefs aren't valid, that he has to agree with what I think is right? If someone hates a culture or ethnicity or species or movie or cartoon or color or food or type of car, what gives me the authority to tell them that no, they are wrong, and they have to feel the same way that I do because it's right? Isn't it presumptuous of me to act as if I know what this person's life was like and undermine everything they know just because I think that I'm good and they're bad? If I were to do that, how would I be any different than if he said that I'm a bad person for supporting homosexuality and that I should hate gay people otherwise there's something wrong with me and I'm going to hell?

I feel that it's up to the individual - their upbringing, their home and family life, their formative years of development, their own personal feelings about who they are and what they think is right and wrong - to be shaped by their own lives. I feel that anyone should be allowed to hate who they want to hate, love who they want to love, be neutral to whatever they feel neutral about. It's when people start using their beliefs to hurt other people - to put them down, oppress them, interfere with their happiness, cause them harm, etc. - that the problems begin. In short, people have a profound number of differences, and part of successfully functioning in this world is to learn to accept those differences and not allow them to turn us into horrible people.

In other words, as I've often said - what two consenting adults want to do behind closed doors doesn't raise my taxes, doesn't make my wait at McDonalds longer, doesn't cause me any physical harm. So why should I be bothered by it? But I have to be fair: At the same time, if someone hates those same people but doesn't otherwise cause them, or me, or anyone else any actual problems in life other than upset feelings and disagreement, why should I let that bother me either? I can't determine what's right for everybody, these are choices that they have to make for themselves. And two people who feel strongly opposed on various issues probably have reasons that, to them, make just as much sense as the other person's reasons make to them, too.

The trans girl quit talking to me, which is a shame but it's her right. She decided that because I didn't fully oppose the Christian's right to have beliefs that differed from hers, and looked down upon her, then I must be as "bad" as he is. I simply tried to explain that I don't share his beliefs, I'm just not going to presume to tell him, or anyone else, that he has no right to have them.

I can understand where you're coming from, but some things in life are just straight up right or wrong. I'm sure even serial killers are nice to their mothers - doesn't mean they are 'otherwise good people'.

Hating someone for who they are because you don't agree with it due to religious indoctrination, cultural upbringing, or just plain ignorance is just fundamentally wrong and people who behave that way, and express those 'opinions' should be left for dust if they show absolutely no intention of evolving. Sometimes you just have to stand up and tell people they are straight up wrong and if they won't change they get out of your life. Obviously you will just see this as my opinion and take offense at being told that your opinion was wrong, but there are some things that really ARE that black or white.

Your trans friend was right to drop you as a friend.

Yes, As a straight while male I have been represented and "included" in most walks of life. You're not incorrect about this. Implying that this is somehow a wrong that I should be held responsible for, as some of the rhetoric in this thread has done, isn't quite fair.

Let me be perfectly clear here: I have nothing, NOTHING against gays, trans, or anyone else who is not straight. If any of you actually knew me you wouldn't be saying half the things that you are. It's not your obligation to understand, nor my obligation to explain. But the fact is that I don't care if the game has gays, Muslims, Democrats, Republicans, Christians, Atheists, etc etc etc etc etc etc.

The only person I've seen here who seems to have an objective and neutral understanding of this discussion is Pulsar. My argument can be summarized in one sentence, which he did very eloquently (and I paraphrase) : I have nothing against certain types of characters being in this game. I just don't want them there to check boxes.

As for the comment that I am homophobic, based on nothing about me other than the argument that I don't agree with using aggression and insults to shame someone into "diversity" and "inclusion" (a comment which I see has been deleted, by the way), that was absolutely uncalled for. Tell me: Did I use the "f" word to describe any of you, simply because I didn't like the points I thought YOU were making?

"Implying that this is somehow a wrong that I should be held responsible for, as some of the rhetoric in this thread has done"

Really? I'd love to see the examples of that. You're not a victim here, I'm not sure why you're acting like one?

I mean no offence but as a straight, white male you've been represented almost all, if not all, of your life, so it'll be difficult to get why representation is important. Just know that it's not a political agenda, it's a biological fact of people's lives.

And, honestly, I mean this in the nicest possible way but your opinion doesn't hold much sway in this discussion for the facts mentioned above. Because you've been represented your entire life.

To people with privilege, equality feels like oppression. They are fragile because they have never had to fight just to be who they are, which is what makes people stronger.

He doesn't. In the films (the original ones, the remakes don't count) it's made clear that he's severely mentally impaired and doesn't understand most things. In the original movie there's a scene of him shown panicking not understanding why random hippies are even showing up at his home. There's nothing deliberately "trans" about Bubba any more than the Three Stooges dressing in drag made them trans.

Everything has to mean something nowadays. Everything has to have a label. Everyone has to "stand" for something or be espousing some kind of personal beliefs. This is a game where killers kill survivors. The lore is great but if it starts going "woke" and politically correct for the sake of making everybody happy it's going to have the opposite effect.

If I, as a white male, can play as Meg in this game and enjoy myself, or play as Franklin or CJ in Grand Theft Auto and enjoy myself, it says to me that I don't need a character to represent ME and whatever I may happen to believe in in order to enjoy the game. That's how it should be. It's a video game.

The point (which I suspect other posters have already made, I haven't finished reading through all the pages yet) which you yourself have unwittingly demonstrated, is that you, as a straight white male, do not feel the need for representation in a game because you are already heavily represented in all aspects of society. So you can play as someone 'not you' and for you it's no big deal. But it is a big deal for others who don't see themselves represented as freely. Check your privilege.

  • @miketheratguy said:

No character should be defined by their sexual orientation. Peoples' personal agendas invade enough of daily life, I like to play video games to get away from them. The Blight may be gay. The Plague may be trans. The Demogorgon may be heavily into amputee porn. I don't care. I don't want to know. It isn't necessary.

I don't want to see a LBQT killer any more than I want to see a BLM killer, a Trump supporter killer, a pro-life killer, a pro-choice killer, a sanctuary city killer, a white supremacist killer, etc etc etc etc etc. I don't want nor need to have divisive modern-day identity politics applied to the characters in my games for the sake of "inclusion" and arbitrary forced "diversity". All I care about is how they were killed and what made the Entity choose them.

I understand where you're coming from, but a person's sexuality is not political. It's who they are. Please don't conflate the two things because that is very insulting to people who are part of a minority group.

  • It's a consequence of a lot of Freddy games dragging on for ages, and people find it boring. I don't d/c when I am in a Freddy game but I wouldn't say he's particularly enjoyable to play against either.

  • I'm a gay man - when it comes to male survivors, I think Felix is the best looking overall, but David is obviously the hottest.

I think Yui is probably the hottest female.

  • How would people feel about the old DS that doesn't deactivate but makes you Exhausted instead? That makes more sense to me thematically, since it's meant to be a desperate last attempt to break free with the last reserves of your energy

It's not useless, it does exactly what it's intended to do, sorry you abused the perk to torture killers and not use it for your own safety

I didn't abuse it to torture killers, I used it as it was intended to be used - got fed up of killers who tunnelled and it was about the only thing as a not particularly skilled looper that gave me the tiniest slim second chance. If a killer considers that 'torture' then perhaps they should play something else?

Thank you for this. If you're going to complain about an exploit, it strikes me it would be helpful for anyone who doesn't know to actually clarify it.

  • Personally, I think healing should be allowed with it - if you are genuinely being tunnelled you should be able to heal back to full health to give you a fighting chance (and that does somewhat 'punish' the tunnelled, as they would waste more time going after you again as healthy Vs easy meat).

I now don't use it at all and consider it a waste of a slot, so good for you killers, I guess. We'll just keep having unfun games until we get bored and go and play something else

I mainly just feel like you should only be able to mori someone who has 50% or less stalk on them just so one survivor feeding Michael doesn't get their teammates moried who didn't feed Michael.

I'd also allow it to enable stalking in tier 3.

I agree with this absolutely - what feels unfair is when you have been careful to stay away and not feed him and your teammates do and then you get killed first. That's the main issue I have.

  • Why don't they at the bare minimum release an LGBTQ ally charm for everyone to use - similar to the LGBTQ ally lanyards that a lot of staff at big companies have? As a fellow gay I would love to see that!

  • It's anecdotal but I definitely feel like there is a heavy skew towards more female survivors in games. I tend to play as either Felix or David and it's very often that I'm the only male character.

  • I feel like only one chest should give a key.

The others should be med-kits or tool boxes.

Also, I don't know about anyone else but I find a map pretty useless without add-ons, and I've got broken key from chests before and without add-ons think that's useless too.

  • My preference would be additional use of icons on the left. It would be very easy to have a small icon in the corner of each character portrait that reveals to other survivors what you're currently doing - gens, healing yourself, healing others, in a chase with the killer (like how it shows for the obsession), cleansing a totem, in a locker - probably a few others I can't think of.

To me this would be a significant quality of life improvement without overly buffing survivors and would put solo queue slightly more equitable with SwF.

  • I don't purposefully screw them over, but I've had it done quite a few times to me, and if someone does anything that I can see is deliberate then I will definitely not go out of my way to help them. Like, if they got hooked close to me I would probably unhook them but if they were across the map I'll leave them to die. Karma baby!

I told this story on a separate thread a few days ago but I had a Yun-Jin who really trolled me vs the Doctor recently, where I was on a gen which she then started working on, and made explode (that part could have been intentional or accidental) so I moved to the nearest locker assuming the Doctor was on his way. She stood outside my locker and pointed a few times when he arrived and then tried to open it. I got hooked.

Later on in the same game, I was slugged and had crawled into a corner, as she was being chased by him and then specifically led him back right to where I was.

Yesterday, I had a guy who was clearly doing the 'Sabotage 4 Hooks' daily ritual which is fine, but don't do it right next to me and draw the killer to both of us perhaps? He then got hooked later in the game, unhooked and then I was doing a totem in a weird spot when he came up behind me begging for healing - I literally couldn't move and couldn't start the healing (the prompt was just showing cleanse) and it took him way to long to move out of the way - as soon as I'd finished healing him, you guessed it, he sabotaged the hook right next to us.

Another one yesterday, down to just 2 of us and I was slugged while the killer (Legion) went to chase the other guy, again I managed to crawl into a corner and the killer clearly didn't know where I was but when they got slugged, they immediately crawled directly towards me and the killer found me. I sent them a message afterwards to say they were a nasty rat and they told me to kill myself and they hoped my mother had a stroke so you can tell what sort of person that is.

I don't understand why people would want to play a coop game and then just behave like arseholes.

  • I started playing this game a couple of months ago and I was pretty annoyed that there is a lot of investment (in both time and money) to get perks more so that new characters. That's the bit that really should be addressed IMO.

  • Oh OK I see what you mean - but it's still really poor behaviour. You are deliberately ignoring the primary objective of the game with the sole purpose of what, making it go on for much longer than it needs to? I think that's more than just annoying.

  • "In solo q, the survivors are the real killer"

I felt this in my very soul. It's definitely the conclusion I've come to after playing this game for a couple of months.

Sometimes it's stupidity, sometimes it's genuine mistakes, sometimes it's blatant trolling - and sometimes, I guess people can't read your mind and vice versa, so without the ability to communicate, the plan they have in their head and what you have in yours aren't always going to mesh.

  • Pretty sure this is what's mean when people say 'taking the game hostage' which is a reportable offence.

No idea why people do this - they surely are not having much of a fun game themselves, though I guess the mentality of the type of person who does this probably means they are considering it 'fun'.

If that happened to me I would be tempted to just leave them to it and go off and do something else for half an hour until they eventually quit. Waste their time the way they are trying to waste yours.

As soon as BHVR makes it so that the game isn't insanely stupidly grindy, I'll gladly put BBQ away and run something else. But like Kindred as a solo player, it's basically a requirement to have on your character.

Definitely a sign of poor design if only a handful of perks are viable, on both sides

  • @Seraphor said:

I wish people would stop claiming BBQ is strong.

    1. Lockers
    2. Hide behind a gen
    3. Be within 40 meters of killer (huge radius)
    4. Run in the opposite direction while it's active, then turn around and walk the way you want to go.
    5. Run distortion
    6. If those fail, it gets the killer away from the hook, so they're not camping.

BBQ or campers. Which one is it?

I didn't say it was strong - just boring seeing it in every game. I suppose the same as it's boring for killers seeing the same perks for survivors every game too.

  • Some people are just horrible, soulless monsters. Some of those people play the same game we enjoy too. Unfortunately you will encounter such utterly incomprehensibly evil people - it's just inevitable. Ignore and don't let them steal your joy.

  • The people ruining the game for me are not the casual players who make mistakes (which I do too, constantly) but the toxic ones who go out of their way to ruin the game for others.

Had one earlier versus the Doctor where I was on a generator with a Yun who made it explode, I hopped in the nearest locker and she waited for the doctor to show up then repeatedly pointed at the locker. Later, she then deliberately led him to where I'd crawled after being slugged. He knew what was up though and carried on chasing her until she was hooked, but then came back and hooked me...GG. No idea why this hateful person decided to just be a dick but I will pick a newbie over a troll every time.

Because I play like 2-4 games a day for most of the rift, with at least one game of killer and one game of survivor, which is already like an hour of DbD every day. Only in the weekends do I have time to play a bit more, which is more than enough time to complete all of the challenges, but nowhere near enough time to get to the end of the rift.

I was at tier 59 when I completed the final challenge, and I'm not going to play ~140 more games in two weeks just to get to tier 70. I have a job and I also play WoW with my guild, so I can't devote all of my time to this game. I would devote my time to it if I saw it was possible, but when my calculations show I need to play more than 10 games per day for the remainder of the rift, I'm out. It would be more doable if I played more than two to four games per day at the start of the rift so I wouldn't end up with 10+ games per day at the end, but that would require me to play more DbD than I often feel like doing.

As a final note, especially at the start, the challenges are super easy and are done really quickly. I often complete the entire first level within the first week, at which point it takes another week before level two releases. During this week, I don't play much, because I find playing without challenges to be boring and I'm more often than not left frustrated. If I lose horribly but completed my challenge, at least I've achieved something and I can take comfort in that. If I lose horribly and had no challenge, I just lost horribly and I feel horrible. If that happens two games in a row, I'd rather go play something else.

Sorry, my point wasn't "How can you NOT have completed it you idiot" it was me not understanding how if you have completed all the challenges the tome itself isn't completed - how have I got to 70 without having finished all the challenges, to put it another way. I thought that completing challenges was the only way to move up the levels.

What do you mean? I had great fun unhooking 25 people, healing 15 people, helping 9 people escape after me and stunning the killer 12 times while pallet stuns were bugged.

    /s

And I'm nowhere close to tier 70. I completed every single challenge and I'm at tier 61. I'm aiming for 62 so I get a little more of my money back (I bought the rift for the Felix outfit) and that's where I'll throw in the towel.

I don't get this - I've not completed every single challenge but I've got to the end of the tome. How can you not if you've finished all of them?

  • Have literally just had a game where I threw a pallet and it didn't stun the killer (Legion) but they were able to hit (and down) me - if they are close enough to be able to hit me, how are they not close enough to be stunned? It's so annoying and makes me want to stop playing until it's fixed tbh

  • What about Alice from the film series? I don't think I've seen this concept mentioned, everyone is talking about characters from the games but what's the chances of it being from the films instead?

  • I personally find these ones useless off the top of my head:

Breakout - after trying and failing to complete the current challenge to get a killer to drop someone while this perk is enabled I definitely will never use this perk again. I just feel like the proximity you have to be to them is too short, it's too dependent on position to the hook (if they are remotely near you have no chance) and if the killer doesn't swing for you it's also not likely to work. It's telling that the advice for completing the challenge involves trying to get a flashlight or pallet save instead, or use the medikit add-on to give endurance.

Slippery Meat - I am not a big fan of one-and-done perks in general, but this still doesn't guarantee you success with your self-unhook so you could use a perk slot, still not unhook yourself, and it has been completely wasted.

Saboteur - I am not skilled enough to work out which hook the killer is going to, get to it, and sabotage it before they can reach it and hit me, and then hook them anyway. I've tried it many times and it's just not for me.

  • I don't like it when a teammate does it early in the game on first hook and they just rush to die on the hook, I agree I think that's a poor behaviour.

However, I have done it myself when I've observed my team doing absolutely nothing to come and unhook me and leave me to get to the second hook stage while they are busy self-caring across the map (or even close to the hook, which is in some ways more annoying) when the killer is obviously occupied elsewhere.

I think sometimes survivor teammates forget that when you're hooked, you can see the other survivors. You can see if they are doing something useful, if they are making their way over to you, if they are trying to evade the killer. And it's also very clear when they are not. I am not going to stay in a game longer than I have to with selfish and clueless teammates, personally - so the moment that becomes obvious I nope out of there asap.

  • I tend not to use it as others have said, it ends up annoying me more than it is helpful when I see what other teammates are doing and it's often nothing useful.

  • Is there a way to do a 'looking for group' type of thing, where survivor mains can indicate their current rank and we could actually team up and play the game together? Those of us who actually want to work as a team I mean.

  • I personally find her boring to play against. It feels like every game is the same when it's vs Spirit. Perhaps I just don't know how to counter her.

A new issue that we'll have now is when it's run in tandem with Starstruck - so survivors will be punished for someone else getting caught whether they are close to the Killer (Starstruck) or far away (BBQ).

I think the BP gain needs to be separated from the aura. The two combined make it too powerful, as in as a Killer, you have few reasons NOT to run it. When a perk is being run by the majority of the Killers the majority of the time, something's out of whack.

Yes this is what I've been finding lately, and why I started feeling like BBQ was OP - though as people on the thread I started pointed out, it's actually good at dissuading campers because they then go after someone else so the hooked person can be safely unhooked. I hadn't actually considered it from that perspective, I was just getting frustrated at seeing it in literally every game and I didn't know the couple of counters to it (hiding in a locker or positioning around the gen so the aura obscures me) which I now do. Though now of course I'm quite irritated because I feel like I have to do that ALL the time, because I now just assume all killers are using it since most are, and it just makes my enjoyment of the game worse, personally.

Then they write a forum post about how "tunneling is out of control".

If someone unhooks me right under the killer's nose I expect to be instadowned and rehooked. I don't blame that on the killer at all. I play killer sometimes and I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

  • How are my games 'going'?

    Not well!

I would say at the moment the overwhelming majority of games are frustrating as survivor. I am playing on because of the minority that are actually fun, but there are a lot more unfun games lately unfortunately and I'm not too sure why. This is Solo Q of course.

I'm not a try-hard sweaty survivor, I just want to play the game as intended and I am careful about where I run in chases (so as not to lead the killer to an unfinished gen, healing survivors, away from someone else who is currently hooked etc), I don't unhook people in front of the killer's face unless they are literally about to die and then I will aim to take the hit for them, I heal whenever possible, I work on generators as much as I can when I see the killer is occupied, I try to improve my looping and try not to waste pallets etc etc - it's not even about skill as I don't think I'm particularly skilled, I just try and behave responsibly and cooperatively.

Unfortunately that seems to be a minority mentality, and I don't know why. I don't understand why people choose to play a team game that is reliant on teamwork if they don't act like it. Play something else.
